Good morning, all.

Chief,
Have a safe and fun trip. Enjoy yourself at CTT!

By the time I got the kids fed, the homework done, the house clean, and the laundry put away, I was too tired to do any train related activities last night. It was warm here yesterday, so the kids got to play outside for a long time.

No Waffle Houses here in MA, but there are a few Cracker Barrels. They serve gr,  grrr, grrri . . . I can't even say it.

Good morning from Gettysburg.  Currently 31 with high to be about 66.  I love the cooler weather, but that brings wide open windows, which means hay fever/allergies.  Taking allergy meds, perscription nasal spray, and some benadryl to combat the itchy watery eyes and runny nose.  Not sleeping too well due to the above.  Came home from work relatively early lsat night and slept for an hour or so before dinner.   I'll be glad for the first frost...

Can't wait until the 19th.  Only 14 days till YorkBig Smile [:D]

Take care,

Morning guys, hope y'all are doing well.  I stand humbled and corrected, I responded to someone asking about TMCC upgrades to Lionel Dockside engines.  I had read a thread where it was mentioned that they could not figure out how to take the engine apart and that from the looks of it, their was not enough room anyway.  This morning, I was looking through that Other Gauge magazine and found a add for Train America Studios in which they have a board specifically for upgrading the Dockside to TMCC.  Unfortunatly, I was unable to find the original thread to add this information.

On other fronts, I hope this day goes well as I did not get to have Grits for breakfast.  You never know when your day does not start out right.  Relatively quiet day hear on the surgery front.  It is nice to get a break.  After some rounds, I will get the family and we are going to Michael's and pick up some more Lemax items (30% off this week).  Then, I hope to get some benchwork done.

Take care,
Dennis

Good morning all,

It is cooler and dry with temps heading to the 60s today.  I watched "Lost" last night and balanced my dad's checkbook.  Tonight is the first game of the boys' soccer sectional.  From now on, it is play until you lose.  Chief, tell Roger Carp I said, "Hi" if you see him at CTT today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is 56 and cloudy. Rained hard last night. Lots of thunder and lightening. Only going up to 61 today. Chance of more rain. Then clear.

I guess we are staying in today. Can't go for our daily walk until later. I may do some work in the train room and run trains at the same time. It looks like a lot of work, but will go fast once I get started.

Looks like a good turnout for Saturday Train show.

I am off to breakfast in the Dining Car. Later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

I have been easing back into work this week.  The week certainly has been going slow, especially at work.

My scenery project continues.  I have the foam cut for the small hill.  It is glued to a base and is ready for the plaster.  My first scenery “module” involved paper towels dipped in plaster.  It was time consuming since, because of the drying time, I needed to create smaller batches of plaster more frequently.  This time I shall try the cloth from Woodland Scenics the already has the plaster on it.  It looks like all I need to do is wet the cloth and put it on the foam core.

Three NYC passenger coaches arrived yesterday from an Ebay purchase.  It turns out that they are the three coaches from the NYC Flyer expansion set.  The look to be a good fit for the layout size wise.  I have more coaches enroute from other auctions.  I am hoping there will be some color consistency so I can run them together to create more than a three car train.

Hope y’all have a great day!

Good morning! Summer is having a last gasp here in Dixie, with temps around 90 today. Then we get back to the low 80s / upper 70s tomorrow.

No grits for me today - just a Pop tart on the way to work.

The forum is acting strange. And it's very slow. That must mean that the Eagle has landed and is wreaking havoc at CTT!

A very nice autumn day out there. Temps in the 60s feels great to me.

Excellent progress coming along on my 2423 Hillside observation car. There's a beautful silver car under 54 years of crud!

Off to the doctors in a few minutes for my yearly physical.

Just to let you guys know, the Grits-Master-in-Chief has come and gone from the offices of CTT! It was great meeting Frank, though it sure seemed like I'd known him for years from his forum postings!

I believe that he has donned his parka, and is leaving the parking lot, headed even further north into Yankeeland.

Well, bet you can't find me now.  Not a Cabela's yet.  Actually not real near it.  I had a great visit with CTT.  Got the tour of MR, Trains, Classic Trains and Garden RR [as well as Scale Modeler].  So, the "seeds" of GRITS have been sown all over the offices.  No magazine is safe now.  You Yanks have had it.  Evil [}:)]Wink [;)]  Well, off to the room and watch TV and rest.  Reception [heavy feeding] at 7 PM.  Later  OH BTW: no jacket yet.  This feels goooood.  I also know where all those Yankee [Canadian] Geese hang out  and then move SOUTH never to return up NAWTH.  Just like the human Yanks. Good evening,

It's been a busy day so this is the first chance I've had to check in.

Glad to hear that the Chief had a nice visit at CTT.

Chief, did you take any pictures while there, or is that vorboten like at York. Smile [:)]

Had the granddaughters, 3 & 5, for about 2-1/2 hours this afternoon, that was about an hour to long.  They were as hyper as I have ever seen them, this old man can't handle that any more.  I was glad to hand them back to Mom. Big Smile [:D]

On the train front, I primed the diecast parts of the crane & tender yesterday.  Now to do some masking for the yellow.  Also need to prep the plastic parts for paint.  Slow going.

Jim, In my opinion, Cracker Barrel grits that they serve in PA are not fit to eat.  And I like good grits.  Bob Evans aren't bad, but won't win any awards either.  You can't beat Dixie Lilly grits with a very liberal helping of BUTTER, salt & pepper.  Actually with my diet I use Take Control for butter and very little salt.

Chief, it sounds as if your plan is working.  Good luck and watch your six, you are now in very hostile territory.  Don't let them Yanks get to you.

Oh what a day!  I think I married the perfect woman!  called from work this morning and she had saved a coupon for Michael's to get more Lemax village items.  Then, when I came home, had a flyer from The Train Station in New Jersey (yeah, I know, a Yankee outfit, but they are good), anyway, I see on the front page they have the K-Line Lackawanna F3 ABA set for $399.  I mention it to my bride, who has told me I am on "train restriction", and she says, lets get it as I need a Christmas

present.  I may not be able to open it till Christmas, but at least I got em.

So, what do ya think?  One question, does anyone know if this is the set with two powered units?  it is K-25383.  It does have TMCC, horn, bell, etc.

I feel LUCKY!

Dennis, You won't regret buying that set.  I have one just like it that I bought several years ago through the K-Line club.  Still running great.  Yes both A's are powered.  I am a big Lackawanna fan.  They were one of only a few roads that used F3's for passenger service.  Later switched to E7's.  I didn't realize that there were any of these around anymore.

I also have a set of the 15" Lackawanna cars that I bought durring the big warehouse sale they had just prior to closing up.

Dennis,

Very nice, very nide indeed. Your wife sounds a lot like mine! I had a similar experience with my NYC F3s. She saw them and said we had better get them while they were available. I too am now on restriction. My restrictions are monthly in duration.

Speaking of her, tomorrow is her birthday. She is getting a day at the spa, books and a nice dinner. She deserves it after putting up with me and my trains for the last year.

John, Luther, anyone else that might like these F3s, they do have others in stock and will through the weekend for the Columbus Day specials.  The Train Station is a big buyer/dealer and I know that they had made a large purchase of K line items during the big sell off, not sure if these are from that transaction, but they do have them on hand.  Also, Had the Lionel Scale Big Boy for $1499., but they sold out already.

Take care,
Dennis

Gentlemen,

While the Chief is in Wisconsin, fear not, beer will eliminate the very existence of grits, those of you familiar with Wisconsin will certainly understand that statement. Hopefully Chief can seak away from Cabela's and hook up with some of the best fishing in the USA and without question some of the most beautiful scenery one could hope for.

The A &WP ran primarily to West Point, GA (home of West Point Stevens - the linen company) near Columbus, GA on the AL / GA border.

Late evening all!

Jim - good news to hear about your stuff finally showing up!

I ordered the Lionmaster Cab-Forward and it supposedly shipped but I have yet to hear from my local dealer on this. Last we spoke he had no idea when it might show up. Grrrr.

Working too many hours. Need to have a plan to cut back again.

Have a great day tomorrow all!
