I wanted to bid on this set, but didn't. It's a pre war tinplate train set with a die cast 1664 locomotive, and it's in really good shape.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190035028201&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting

It sold for all of $86.00. I wish I had bid on it.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and mild in SE Indiana with temps heading to the low 80s today.  I visited with the family yesterday before and after the shower.  The one daughter may have a job lined up in Virginia, which is good news.  One of the son-in-laws helped me with the computer yesterday, explaining all the virus protection that was set up.  He also did a minor upgrade on the CPU, boosting it to a 1 Gig processor, which makes it a little faster.  I have had very little train activity recently, but maybe that will change soon.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 46 degrees and going up to a sunny 76 degrees. Beautiful.

Today, I have a few errands to run and I would like to enjoy the weather while it still is nice enough. Hate to be inside on a day like today. I spent a lot of time in a factory, when the sun was shining. Now, I can enjoy it.

I've got to sit down and work up a new track plan, for the future expansion. I have learned a lot from you folks on the Forum and will try to create an interesting plan. I have a lot of time. Then, I can figure out how much track and lumber I will need. Good winter job.

" All Aboard "  for the Dining Car. Breakfast is served.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Dennis : I am also looking forward to seeing that movie !! I heard a lot about it in the past on our local Christian radio station, & something they had to go through to get the rating right or accepted, can't remember now. I know my daughter in KY. will go too !   Too bad you're not in it !!

Well, hope everyone had a nice weekend, I got quite a bit done !!

Thanks, John

John, yeah the motion picture association gave the film a "PG" rating because it mentioned "God" in a good way.  Go figure!  It has raised a lot of questions about the MPA and how they answer to no one.  They have no accountability.  On the good side of things, it did cause a senate investigation and perhaps some more publicity to get folks to see the film.  It is the type of film that some just need to see.  I have not been able to yet, we have not seen a film in over a year when we arranged a baby sitter.  We plan to do it soon.

Take care and have a great day,

Dennis

Good morning from a warm Chicago where temps should rise into the 80s. Too bad I'm at work.
How 'bout them Bears - they're playing like Laz's 800 lb. variety and helping me forget the Sox.
I'm looking forward to seeing that movie too, Dennis. Heard some discussion on our local radio too - we must all listen to the same syndicated stations.
Well, I'm an uncle - my youngest brother and his wife had their baby last night - Hannah. First child in the family apart from ours.
Nice work, Buckeye!

Top of the Mornin to ya Doug!

Congrats on the Uncle thing, that is wonderful.  I heard that the only place that sold more tickets for Facing the Giants apart from our home town theater (Which has been sold out most shows), was Chicago (More screens).  It is amazing what can be done if you let God work.

Congrats to your brother, Doug!  Hannah is a great name - it's a family name of ours.  Took off today to get the truck serviced and get some stuff done around the house.  Need to replace one coachlight (it was manufactured at a sort of weird angle?) then see if I can fix the older one, which my wife bought while I was out with my appendectomy.  Didn't get to see Leo this weekend, but a bunch of folks at work were going, so I figured I'd give him a few days to settle in, then take him over some books or movies or something.  Gondola is still soaking - need to wear gloves with Simple Green concentrate?  Lots of good info on this website.  I'm taking some pics of the stuff for the layout, the foam board, the soaking gondola, etc and will update in a week or so after I actually get something done - mostly just been getting stuff so far.  I notice on EBAY that if I just watch an item like an 0-4-0 Porter or an 0-4-2 that it will sell really cheap, but if I bid on it the price just keeps climbing (Murphy's Law of EBAY?).  Apparently this website has a built in censor function as it didn't like me writing that I ate a chicken part that is associated with the chestal region - but I actually wrote the bre_st word and not the shorter 3 letter word which is implied by the censor substituting ***.  Dunno why it didn't put ****** vs ***?

I feel your pain, Jim. See my previous post from this morning. An entire pre war train set in really nice shape went for $86.00. I wanted to bid but didn't. Had I bid, it would have sold for $200-300!

Jim F, If you have them in your area check out Party City. I picked up a couple of items to add to the "Halloween Train" . They had a small bag of skulls, about 2/3 to 3/4 the size of a marble, great load for a dump car. Also got a bag of what they call pop-ups, small character heads( frankenstien, pumpkin, bat and mummy) that will pop-up from a suction cup, but I am going to use them kinda like bobbleheads on a flatcar. In the up position the spring is not to stiff so they should wobble and move as the train moves.  Maybe I should dig out an old truck with a bent axle to accentuate the wobble.

A real tragedy has happened in our county this morning. If you have not heard about the Amish School shooting, I have posted the link to local TV station. This happened about 30 miles from my home and about 5 miles from the TCA Museum.

John, indeed it is a sad thing.  Last I heard was 6 dead and 3 young girls in critical condition.  I have not heard too much on details as to the shooter and the reasons.  The news did bring up a discussion about the simple life, hard working folks the Amish, but not the race of modern day life.  Sometimes I would like to go to that kind of living for a time.  It seemed that they were not touched by the ugliness of modern society, I guess that has changed.

God Bless,

Dennis

There is a sign at the borders stating " NO GRITS allowed."

My wife was just going through the papers my mom gave us yesterday - including some stuff for my upcoming 25th High School reunion.  Might go to this one.  Man, how did this happen?  I though I just graduated the other day?  Heard about that school - what a sad day.
