Marty, that Censored [censored] armadillo has two holes the size of a volleyball and who knows how deep under the house.  He is Toast!

Chief, looking forward to your visit down here.

It was a good day, went to Waffle House with the family and had GRITS for breakfast.  Believe it or not, our waitress even had all her teeth!  Then did lots of projects around the house, cut bushes, cleaned up a little, replaced locks on gun cabinets, hung paintings, and a few other items, and then I STARTED BENCHWORK!

Have a good night

Dennis

Good evening from Gettysburg.  Cool day with some light rain. Did not get to cut the grass. Hope the weather is drier and warmer tomorrow so I can cut the lawn.

Dennis - sounds like you were one busy guy today.  Hope you get your 'dillo.  We don't have armadillos, but we have groundhogs that can dig and cause a mess.

I got the door hung on the layout closet.  As usual it was an pain in the a$$.  I am not a finish carpenter and setting hinges on the old wood door was not easy for me.  I had to cut the door down a little to get it to fit.    I just wanted to close it off enough so it will hold some heat in the winter.  I was wondering if I should put some sort of lock on the door.  At least it would keep a repairman or delivery guy from walking off with something.

Tomorrow I need to replace a headlamp on the Mrs. car.   Will go to early church and then get started on some more honey do's before the NASCAR race.

Well take care.

Good evening all,

It is dark and cool in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s.  It was a good day for soccer as the girls won 3-1 on Senior Day, and the boys won on the road 1-0.  The last regular season game for the boys is Tuesday and the girls do not start sectional play until Oct. 11.  I reffed a U-12 game which was a blow-out 7-1.  I mowed the yard Friday night.

Lucas had some visitors from school today and his tutoring went well Friday.  My wife and he will go to school next day to see about him returning the week after.  He is feeling better and starting to help around the house.  My family is having a baby shower for the younger daughter tomorrow, and it will be the first family gathering since my mom passed away.

I watched the first episode of "Veronica Mars" on the net tonight.  I do love DSL.  Although probably no one else cares, but Scott Speed has a good chance to score a point in F-1 tomorrow as he starts 11th.  That would be the first time since 1993.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Greetings from a dark and wet northeastern Illinois where I just returned from a looooong day in South Bend, Indiana. Speaking of Indiana, Mike C, now that you identified the band, I believe I've heard some of Mildred's work or at least some of the band, with her too. Dennis, haven't seen our possum in a coon's moon: maybe he grew a shell and went to visit you.

Our family togetherness tour of Notre Dame was a first class fiasco. I don't think I want to relive it yet - but it involved the bride's misapprehension that it involved shopping somewhere other than the University bookstore and went downhill from there.

Did get a nice look at the NS main line into Chicago and spotted a few Amtraks running east, lots of well stack trains, and 2 orange South Shore Freight GP38s running light.

Picked up a sheet of 4x8 1 inch foam at Lowes -- nearly blew out of the back of the truck! Shock [:O]  Had to pull over and put a 2nd hold-down over it, since it was bending so much in the wind!  Let my son cut down for me and he did a good job, still has all his fingers too.  My wife says she's got a bunch of brown material she will put over it for a dirt look and we'll glue some stuff on it here and there.  I have a 4 inch wide by 8 feet long strip and I'm going to make a couple raised areas for the train to go through....  Still thinking about a tunnel of some kind.  gondola is soaking - need to put a rock in it to keep it sunk.  Picked up a book at Borders after the family ate at Noodles (pasta with cheese sauce, green salad and a chicken *** - pretty good) -- The History of North American Steam by Christopher Chant.  Looks pretty good - lots of pics including really early stuff.

Still no CTT in the mail - maybe Monday.  I'm starting to think our mail - lady is taking them home to read first or something.

Enjoy your popcorn, Chief - good night!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 50 deg with Blue Clear Skies.

Jim - sometimes I think that Keith runs down to my house and reads my CTT before I get it out of the mail box. This time it came in normal time.

Next Saturday is the NMRA Div 4 show in Berea. Many OTTS members are planning on going to the show and then getting a bit to eat at the Station Resturant. This is going to be a really fun Train day.

If you didn't see the threat on 'shipping cost of train car', check it out. This car is a real piece of history. It was once used by JFK during his compaining in the 50's and was  also used on the Freedom train in 1976.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 53 degrees, going up to a sunny 70 today. After the storms yesterday, that will be nice.

Today I plan on taking it easy. Worked a few hours yesterday, and got a lot done on the new Train Room wall. I have about 42 feet by 12 feet , that I can use now. That's a lot of benchwork and track. I've got about 22 feet by 12 feet, as of now. That gives me a good excuse to buy more train stuff.

Only 6 more days to the Train Show. Got to wrap coins.

I'm ready to board the Dining Car for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Man I had a hard time getting up today too.  Not feeling 100%.  Think I'll take it easy and relax.  I have a zoning meeting with the Kodiak Junction County Commision today to lay out the new town.  Seems we got a hole to work around now and how best to utilize that space.

Afternoon all,

Dr. John, I'll join you and the Chief for turnip greens and corn bread. Dinner [dinner]

Be sure to check Sunday photo fun, the Chief has some nice shots of his Western Trip posted.

Mitch, Be sure to check out Tom's BL-2.

Ran trains a little last evening.  Pulled the old rail cleaning car around with a clean roller to clean off any residual goo gone.  My new rail cleaner, according to the instructions, can be damaged by goo gone.  Next, to try the new one.

Laz, it is only a little over two weeks till YORK, we need to pick a time and place to meet with the coffee pot gang.  Why don't you start it off and we will see if everyone can make the time you suggest.  I am planning on being there most of Thursday and Friday.  Maybe you want to start a new thread for this?

Going to a picnic before long, so far the weather is good.

Dr. John and John, you certainly are welcome.  Wife puts cream style corn in her cornbread.  Makes it real moist.  Big pot has been boiling for a while.  House smells like greens and ham hock [Yankees do not know what ham hock is, except for John]. Big Smile [:D]  Wife has done a squash casserole too.  MIL is cooking a roast.  Will be loading food and off to MIL's [15 minute drive] as soon as greens finishes.  Man, I hope the turnips turn out growing as good as the greens have.  I think every seed came up.

Run trains for a while.  Later

Afternoon everyone.  been a good day, went to church this morning and then Sunday School.  It is kinda neat, our church made a movie and it was released nationally on Friday.  If you go to see "Facing the Giants", it was made entirely by our church, actors, production staff, everything but that actually camera crew were church members and it is being released by Sony.  I am not in it (didn't want to outshine the restBig Smile [:D]).

I was planning on doing some benchwork today, but we went to a local park/zoo and had a little picnic.  Tonight we are going to a church up the road a piece to visit some friends who also adopted a baby girl from China and just returned, they are having a slide show.  Oh well, I guess I will try to do some work this week.

For our one fan of the NS Railroad:   http://www.dispatch.com/business-story.php?story=dispatch/2006/10/01/20061001-B1-03.html  This is the project I have been working on this summer/fall.

Looking forward to Saturday and the train show at Berea, Ohio.  I 'll be racing up I-71 to Bagley Road from Roger's Corners.  It will take me about two hours to get there.

Busy week traveling.

Put the boat away, but before I did, I removed the GPS to send it to Hummingbird for repair.  I wouldn't be on the water without GPS after I was fogged in this last spring in Canada.

K-Line Mikado going to Davis for repair.  When it starts up, the breakers click off to the track.

See ya down the tracks, or in Berea.

Evenin' All.

What a great day today! Our grandson, one & only grandchild, had his first birthday party today. Seems like just yesterday that he was born. My wife and I gave him one of those Thomas engines that he can push and ride on in the house. When it is moving it makes a kinda feeble chuffing sound and has some other sounds that are activated with push buttons. That was his toy for here so at the party we gave him some new PJ's since he seems to be growing like a weed.

Great photo survey of the museum Chief. Smile [:)]

I am pretty pooped so I do believe this will be an early bedtime tonite.

Good morning from Gettysburg.  Currently 46 with highs to be about 74.  Yesterday I got the garage put back together after the toilet fiasco of a few weekends ago.  Had to make one last trip under the house into the crawl space to check for leaks.  Also got the grass mowed and trimmed.  Watched part of the NASCAR race.  Gordon wound up in the garage due to a fuel pump issue.  Not a productive race day for his team.  Watched part of the Ravens game too, what a wild finish.

Well today is a busy day at work.  Superintendant and Asst. Superintendant are both coming for visits.  Better get in gear and get out the door.

Take care,

Mitch

Good morning, everyone.

We had a great weekend in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The foliage was spectacular. The room we stayed in had bunk beds for the kids. The food was great, the weather was great (on Saturday), and a great time was had by all.

We visited and rode a foliage train on the Hobo RR. I also got the chance to see and tour the Flying Yankee. The restoration of that train is coming along well. It's now owned by the state of NH. Plans are to run it locally as an excursion train, then tour it around the country.

I'm going to pick up those old 2400 series passenger cars tommorow.

Have a nice day, all.
