Can I be first? Then I can call the appropriate law enforcement agency on my cell phone and watch your arrest on CNN in Roseyville.

Good evening everyone.
We made a new discovery while in NC (Spencer / Salisbury area) – Cherrywine. Chief, have you ever had any?? The wife liked it a lot – I only had one small taste and it was not too bad.
I worked quite a bit around the house this weekend. With the weather so nice I painted the trellis in anticipation for the rose bush plantings by the wife. We also put out some plants in the front flower bed and some Leyland Cyprus trees in the hope of growing a “natural fence”.
I had a little time for trains Saturday and Sunday. I got another snap relay wired in parallel with an Atlas switch machine to control the dwarf. I also started building a retaining wall for some track side scenery. I always liked the look of a timber wall holding back a cut through from sliding down on the track.
I headed back to work today after three weeks off. Boy, that 5:00 AM alarm was early. A nine hour day and 3 1/2 hours in traffic. I can honestly say I did not miss one facet of work. When I got home, I had a few packages waiting for me – a mixture of Ebay purchases and the result of our visit to Grzyboski's while we were in Scranton, PA.
He had a pristine set of Lionel Century Club NYC F3s in a really neat train store. I think I got a nice deal on the F3s. The wife knows I am an NYC (and ACL!) fan and she actually suggested the purchase! I am a luck man . She also picked out an MTH tank car with a shamrock on the side for her train. Since we had the Miata, we had to have them shipped, hence today's arrival.
Also arriving today was a Lionel 63561 NYC Cattle Car. I had won it about three weeks ago on Ebay but asked them to hold shipping until we got back. Finally, DHL just dropped of a Kline Robert's Meat reefer. I had seen the pictures posted by John (jefelectric) and started looking for one. Ebay comes through again!
Well, off to watch Prison Break and get caught up on some work.

Luther, That was an interesting post.
Mitch, I soaked the Lionel crane tender in Simple Green and it did its magic. This is the first time I have stripped any post war and found a few surprizes. The tool boxes, which are separate pieces, are made of clear plastic. The funny part is that one of them was painted on the inside and one was not. The cabin was made of a mixture of black and white plastic which looked like marble cake when it was stripped. The deck on this one is cast, appears to be zamac, but in good shape. Since the metal hand rails and steps are staked in place I guess I will have to mask them when I paint. Same with the brake wheels and smoke stack. I found some fuson spray paint for plastic which is very close to MOW yellow and am going to use that. I will prime the metal first. Will take some pictures as I go. Should have taken one before I started.
Well, I'd better get a couple of hours sleep. Have to get up at 3:00 to take the Son & family to the airport. They are flying to CO to visit his sister, my daughter and family.

Grits in Ohio? You bet. Ohizo boys try to keep this quiet, but if you go to www.wafflehouse.com and type "OH" in the locator, you will get 57 hits!. In fact, there is a Waffle House only about 200 feet from Spankybird's house! Here is a photo from my Sept trip and visit for the non-believers...
Here is a photo of Tom, Spankybird, and I in the basement empire.

Hi GIZ,
Not too bad here today at 56 and going up to 79.
Rotten thing here about 50 miles away that COWARED of a guy had to go and kill those kids. Makes me real sad about this whole event of a domino effect that has happened since last week. 3 schools and lots of nuts out there. Got to pray for those killed and there families.
All have agood one.

Good morning all,
It is rainy and warm in SE Indiana with temps heading to the 80s again today. Laz 57, I have to agree with you about the shootings. It is really sad whenever children are involved in situations like this. It is bad enough when adults take each other out, but the kids should be left alone. At least the guy spared us the anguish of a trial.
I did some yard work last night and hopefully edged and trimmed for the last time this year. I watched a little TV and checked on some eBay auctions. Not much else going on. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is 58 degrees and sunny. Going up to 77 today and mostly sunny. We may have some rain, later, but I hope not.
Today, we are going into Cambridge to do some shopping. Have to pick up a few things. A lot of stores are closing up there. Must be a slow year.
Looking forward to the Train Show on Saturday. I guess a lot of guys from the Forum will be there. Hope to meet all of you.
Not much new on the train layout subject. I have a lot to do before I can begin expanding. Gives me time to think of plans.
Off to the Dining Car. Breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Roy, There may be Waffle House in Ohio, but that doesn't mean that you automatically are served grits. In fact, you must beg for them using a southern accent. Glad you could visit Spanky's Basement, a great train place.
On the road the rest of the week.
See ya down the tracks,
Well, we got Son & family to the airport at 4:00, two hours prior to flight as they request. Only one there was the janitor mopping the floor. At 4:30 one person wandered out to open the counter, about 20 people waiting in line at this point. Typical! Watched as they got through security with no problems.
Hope to work on the crane & tender a little today & try to get the doll house moved along a little.
Oh, and came home from the airport and had GRITS for breakfast!
Have a good one.
Almost forgot. For those who are not following the other thread. We have settled on a time to get together.

Good morning from a soggy but sunny and warming Chicago where it has stormed continously since about 230 yesterday afternoon. I know the time because it just started as I hiked back from visiting the new arrival in the hospital - just beat the big drops. Unexpectedly found an N scale diorama in a window of Tribune Tower as I passed by - complete with CNW scoot and a model of Hills Hobbies in Park Ridge. Haven't gone to a Waffle House in a long time - I think it was back in the mid 1980s in Nashville. Today's my 'late night' - but a chance to persue CTT in detail on the local home - I always share it with the conductor.
The bride is sad today because her favorite grocery store of the past 20 years is closing.

Don, no offense taken. In fact, I know a few of the surgeons out that way and they are pretty good.
Not much going on today. I am getting ready to head to the hospital, no cases scheduled for today, but will have to make an appearance. My son has been vomitting this morning, typical after having spent Sunday in church child care. Just like school, when one gets sick, they all do. By the time he is a teenager, he should have built up an incredible immune system. The husband of one of our anesthetists who got killed in the car accident is being buried today. Sad. He was the president of the Cowboys for Christ, a group that helps troubled kids and others to take the right road in life.
I have to repair a sink faucet that has come loose. I had bought a basin wrench to do the job, but the head of the wrench is broken. Oh well.
Tonight, we are heading to the circus. The shows these days are a lot less than they used to be as the animal acts are limited to cats and poodles because of the folks at PETA. I am sure the kids will get a kick out of the acts though.
Take care,
Dennis
PS: make sure you eat your GRITS today.

Almost forgot, Marty, have you checked out the MARTY box cars advertised in CTT? Thought that would be a "must have" for you.

Hey Chief, good to see you up and running this early. We had a couple who had seen the movie our church made "Facing The Giants" and drove all the way down from Henderson, NC to be in our Sunday service. kinda neet.
1688torpedo wrote:Hello All! Dennis- You should know better than to promote Grit's. After all, You work in a Hospital & Grit's are not health food Yeah, we have a Waffle House here in the nawth. However, it is under survelliance to make sure that there are no Grit's related illnesses happening around here. Jim A is right. Yankee Pot Roast taste better & is good for you. Take Care all.
Now Keith, don't tell anyone, but the grits of today are the cases for tomorrow! Remember, it is our secret, but that is how I pay for my trains, I spread the word about grits and operate on them later.
Just kidding, their is a whole lot worse than Grits for you. In some areas, the air will get you, if not the air, the Krispy Kream.

So many roads, so little time.
jaabat wrote:We use grits as a wall paper paste here in New England. And some farmers feed their livestock grits up here. I think they call it slop, though. I heard that grits kills brain cells . . . Jim
Jim, actually, you can use Grits in the garden to kill slugs and other unwanted pests............Hm, Chief, the Grits idea for the north could potentially get rid of some more pests than expected. We must be carefull.
