Those going to YORK
Posted by laz 57 on Monday, October 2, 2006 9:28 AM

  HI GIZ,

YUZ GIZ that are going to YORK in October,we are going to try and meet again at the CTT Booth.  I will be there in the afternoon on Friday the 20th and on Sat. the 21st all day.  We would like to get together with DA GIZ from CTT and get another pic for the forum.  Sounds like a ritual, getting a pic?

What time is good for YUZ GIZ?

MARTY,

I'll be getting down there at about 1:30, 2:00 on Friday.  So maybe if everyone can get there at that time we can get the group pic then.  How does that sound?  130 to 200.

Early would be good for us. We want to get some miles under the tires Friday afternoon so we can make it home Saturday night. Anytime between 1:00-3:30 would work if that works out for the good of the group.

Here's a question for you PA guys. We want to drive about 4 hours from York going past Pittsburg that Friday. Any recommedations about towns that would have motels north and west of Pittsburg?

Thanks.

Jon

Hi Guys,

What I am hearing is between 1:30 & 2:00.  Why not make it 1:45 so we have something to shoot for.

1:45 at the CTT booth.

Everybody OK with that?

I am not attending the OGR gathering but there maybe folks that do...what time does that gathering meet?  I think it's 2pm so maybe 1:30 maybe a little better unless of course nobody is going to the other event then....NEVERMIND.  Maybe they could hold a pin back for us so we don't have people rushing the booth!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I forgot about the OGR thing and can't find the time at the moment.  It doesn't bother me as I wasn't planning to go.  If you go to the open house at the TCA Museum, you will hear basicly the same thing on Wednesday that they say at the OGR get together on Friday.  If not everything is usually posted on the forums in a couple of days anyway.  1:30 is OK for me but I thought it would be pushing Laz a little, was going to give him an extra 15 for traffic around York.  I'll try and remember my camera this year.  If Roy doesn't make it someone better have one.  And no we wont take the picture inside the building.Evil [}:)]

Marty, did you see Jon's motel question?

Yes I saw the hotel question and the best I can figure, especially coming across the PA Pike is to get off at Cranberry exit.  It is a decent area with hotels and food.  It is more North than West of Pitt but still right off the pike.  Only about 2 or 3 exit from Ohio line.

Maybe since it's probably just me and you perhaps we should just meet at the CTT gathering.  That way it would last a bit longer.  Or if you wish maybe a fry stop near the white hall earlier in the day.  Your call.  I'm sure it will rival last years meeting!Smile [:)]

Hi Giz (translate LAZ-Speak),

At this time I plan to be there. John - you mean 1:30 - 1:45 pm on Friday afternoon right?

I have some other travel that could interfere with York a bit, but so far so good.

Regards, Roy

Sounds like it is settled then - Friday, 1:30 - 1:45 at CTT Booth for Coffee Pot Photo.  As the old AM Radio DJ used to say... Be There or Be Square...

Later,

Hi Giz,

Sounds good at 130 - 145.  Better brush your teeth and comb your hair for the big pic with all DA GIZ?  See YUZ GIZ at the CTT booth.

I'll bring a camera just in case.  I'll make sure it has it's "outside only" filter on it.

I wish I could go. It sure would be something towing an empty trailer and with an unlimited budget.

I was wondering do you guys go to York looking for something in particular or just for something to catch your eye?

I have a fairly specific list of things I am seeking:

one of these with tender is just about top of the list:

a set of these:

a few of these:

one of these:

some of these of the NYC variety:

beyond these - am looking for interesting figures and 40's ear vehicles, as well as lots of "clutter" oil drums, tanks, tires, wheels, crates, pallets etc to fill out some scenes as well as some interesting building kits.

In years past I have had a list but not this year.  The only thing remotely on my radar is some Fast Track pieces and even there nothing specific.  Nope this is just a few days to get away from it all.
