Well, Lionel pushed my stuff back from May to September and is just shipping in October! Hope it's here for Halloween!  I may need to get my Transylvania General out of storage - I was just going to run new stuff this year though.

I've decided to save up and get a really good transformer next year, either MRC pure-sine wave or a ZW....

Now I'm thinking of ordering the RMT Halloween loco - anybody got it?  Has it been released yet?

Hello gents!

Well Chief Delta did well by me.  Got to Des Moines early and safely.  United on the other hand shessh!  I'm glad I fly USAirways because at least I can call someone that understands me.  Must be those good ole' Southern Girls!  Hope everyone is having a great weekend!  Were on the air tonight at 7 central, 8 Eastern for the Iowa Nebraska game.  I'm guessing it's a regional or limited coverage.

No new news from Kodiak Junction since the giant cat destroyed all the UFOs.  Rumors have come out that new streets have already been paved.

Good afternoon from a sunny and warm northeastern Illinois - I think tomorrow is the last day of Indian Summer - it's supposed to be in the 20s by Thur. That's a tad early in the season. Got the front of the house painted. Figured out my ladder won't go high enough to get th sides. Will try to do some of the back tomorrow. Homecoming tonight for the daughter - the dance. Guess I'll be hiding in the basement after all her friends come over to eat.

Marty, glad all is OK.  I will be in Charlotte between 2:15 [but raining and you know Charlotte and rain] to 4:00 PM.  If you are there then, let me know.  One day we will pass in an airport or end up in the same town.  Ft. Myers Nov 2 thru 4 and passing thru Charlotte 2nd and 4th.   Then Omaha 16th of Nov. [That may be AA and DFW going and ATL coming back].  Trying to figurre out my GA tour.  That will be drive to Charlotte, Atlanta, Macon, Savanah [one night in each place] and home.

Retiring for the night.  All checked in with US Airways.  Charging the portable DVD player to watch movie on the Canadair from here to Charlotte.  Seat 1A.

Chatted with Doug M this PM.  Good guy.  Working on his layout and I can't even get started. Wink [;)]

Jim A called and was excited.  All the color was polished off of the wheels to one of his steam engines [maybe the 2056???] by a guy who thought he was doing good.  Cleaned them real good and used $3+ bottle of gun bluing.  Worked.  Turned them black.

Heard there was a big disturbance at some train show in Ohizo today.  A bunch of guys got together and made trouble.  Something about CTT forum guys.  Wink [;)]   Have a good one.

Good evening, everyone.

Kind of winding down after a long day today. Performed a big wedding this afternoon. Went well, except the groom dropped the ring. He recovered well, though, and the rest of the ceremony went fine. At the conclusion, they released a dozen white doves (whatever happened to rice or bird seed?). No, not in the sanctuary, we went outside. Wink [;)]

Mom spent a couple of days home with Dad from the assisted living facility with mixed results. She recognized him most of the time and didn't have problems with agitiation or beligerence until he took her back. That part was not pleasant. Still, it went well overall for them. Maybe she can return home for good if the meds keep working well. Wait to talk to the neurologist in a couple of weeks.

Sure wish we had some train shows around here. I have to admit to being jealous of some of you guys, going to York or regional train meets. GATS used to come to Alabama, but since they're history not too many. One in Dothan in August and one in Huntsville, maybe some others, but I'm not sure. Both a bit far to drive for a day outing.

Enough rambling - good night! Zzz [zzz]

Dr. John, I agree about the train shows.  I missed the one in Dothan, never heard about it till it was too late.  I know it is a bit of a drive, but perhaps I could include it in a stop on the way to the Mother in laws.  I hear so much about the TCA (good and bad), but I think York may make it worth it.  I don't see my being able to make it until the kids are a little older, unless I just flew up for a day and then back.

Chief, hope you can put in  a little extra time on your swing through GA.  We are about 1.5 hours from Macon and would be a bit out of your way to get to Savannah.  Perhaps, we could meet you somewhere, or if you can spend more time, you are welcome here.  BTW, the Hobby Town in Macon shut down, so I don't think there is a train store left.

Should you get some time in Savannah, they do have a train store, but it is mostly the small stuff, but they do have some materials to do custom work.  Another thing to take in is the Roundhouse Museum, it has  a few steam engines being restored and a diesel.  You would have to head into the Historic District and it is off MLK Blvd, which is off 16, or, you could take Abercorn all the way in and just make a left on Bay St.  (16 is much quicker).

Wife is back from work.  Now we have to get the stuff together to head to my old church for homecoming.  It should be nice to see everyone and also to take in the Hobby Town in Columbus.

Have a great night and I look forward to checking in with Sunday Photo Fun.

God Bless,

Dennis

Evenin' ya'll,

Just got home from going out to dinner, stuffed.  Thursday was the middle Grandaughter's BD and we usually let them pick where they would like to go out fir a BD dinner on The following Sat. when we have them.  She opted for Chinese.  As always we all had our fill, only ordered 3 entrees for the 5 of us, and had enough to bring home to provide for lunch tomorrow.

Ordered the Nikon D70s today, should be in by the end of the week if UPS is on time.  Now another new gadget to learn to work.  I just started reading "Photoshop Elements 2 for Dummies'.  The software came with my scanner, but no documentation, so I finally broke down and ordered a book.  Been using a lesser program till now.

Ran into a, hopefully minor, problem with the new ZW I wired in for the client yesterday.  Channel A worked fine, Channel D started off ok then voltages got erradict, low, high, none.  Somehow my meter was even showing 36V with only an 18V input from the Powerhouse.  Lastly nothing.  The transformers are putting out the 18V so it must be in the controller section.  Its acting like a PowerMaster I had when it went bad.  I'll stop by Memory Station with it Monday afternoon and see if Lewis has any answers.  I'll keep ya'll up to date in case someone else runs into a similar problem.

Ain't technology wonderful?

Have a good evening all.

Good morning all,

It is dark and cooler in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s.  It was a beautiful day for soccer as I reffed two U-14 games.  Nobody got hurt and I do not think I made any bad calls or non-calls.  The games were close and exciting and I had the best seat in the house.  The local team advanced to the finals tomorrow and so it was a good day.  I have a three day weekend and so I hope to run some trains sometime.  I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good night with the teenagers tonight: picture-taking before the big dance - of course our digital camera froze up. OTTS looked like fun - wish I could've been there really. Highlight of the day: conversing with the Chief when he was north of Milwaukee and he was only 100 miles away.

Roger--

You will LOVE the D70s, it's an incredible camera. I've always had a passion for photography (way back in the '60's--I used to chase fire trucks) and my dream was to have a nice darkroom. Never happened because the money just wasn't there. Now with digital the dream has come true and I don't even have Photo Shop. I'm so glad I started with the Olympus 3 years ago but I can't tell you much happier I am with the DSLR. Did you order any extra goodies with it? I added the 70-300 Nikor and the SB800 and a few other accessories. A real plus is that my wife just loves it and she's not afraid to pick it up and use it, of course the new grand daughter has been a good excuse :) I could share with you a few thousand baby pic's but I won't.

Have FUN!!!!

Greetins All, from Mesa AZ...

Been here for almost a week have conducted 9 seminars, and all seem to have gone well.  Got a listing of trainshops off Lionels and MTH's websites.  Been visiting them as I am in their respective areas.  So far nothing really exciting.  Of course most of them are HO which isn't really a surprise.
Went to the local race track, (Manzanita) they had a pretty good show.  The last time I was there was in '71, the crowd was quite interesting.

BTW  ChuckRemember ----TODAY is Talladega, I think I have it right this time.

Looking forward the photos tomorrow, think I will go to a swap meet, then watch the race.

Have a great day all!

It is Cold In Dixie!  Got down to the mid 50s this morning.  I am sooo excited for my Christmas present, but now I find myself looking for passenger cars to match.  We are heading out this morning to the Homecoming at my old Church, about 2.5 hour drive.  I hope all goes well wherever you worship.

Sounds like the guys had a good time at the trainshow.  Perhaps I can make one of those Up Nawth shows.  Anyway, y'all have a good day.

Jon - other than the 18-70 Nikor lens that comes with it I only tacked on an extra battery, 2GB card and a filter.  I'm moving up from a Nikon N60 and the extra lens I have should work with the D70s.  If anyone is interested in the N60 with a Tamron 28-80 lens let me know and we'll see what deal we can work out.

In this morning's paper I see the Hobby Lobby ad shows Lionel sets 25% off.  I guess they changed to Lionel since K-line's not around any longer.

Good morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 45 degrees and going up to 72 today. Sunny. The leaves are really starting to turn gold and red. Beautiful.

Well, we had a great day yesterday. OTTS group had lunch together and spent some quality railfan time.  I picked up a few things that I needed at the show. Nice show. A lot to choose from.

Today I will probably cut grass and watch the NASCAR race from Talledega ( you are right, Don ). It should be good.

The Dining car just rolled in. Boarding for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

Where the temp is 45 deg with Blue Clear Skies and headed to 70 deg today.

Chuck - Yesterday was a great day, even if I did have to work for a few hours in the morning.(Great Pics)

John - I love that rocket car. The weekend that the OTTS group went on the AC & J RR, that car passed us on I-90 doing over 75 mph. See what rocket power can really do!

Maybe we can make it to the museum today, haven't had time to be there all week.

The wife and I had a nice birthday diner Friday evening. We headed to the local Books-A-Million afterwards from some coffee and perusal of books. They had the latest copy of CTT so I picked that up. Not sure why I do not subscribe – I have bought ever issue last year. Guess there is something about buying it “off the news stand”.

Spent some time running trains – mostly breaking in the new NCY F3s. I had a short. I have part of a yard unfinished with some live wires routed through the bench work waiting to be connected. Thankfully the Scott's Odds n Ends circuit breaker caught it for me. The F3s ran well.

I had time to also continue on the hill / retaining wall scenery. The Woodland Scenics plaster covered cloth worked very well – I will never mix plaster and dip paper towels again! I did have to buy some Hydrocal to fill out some spots. I headed to Atlanta Trains in Roswell. The owner is a really nice guy and we had a nice talk. I also picked up a caboose in NYC livery. I also gave the retaining wall another coat of paint – it is coming together nicely.

My JusTrains order arrived. Picked up some K-Line blowouts as well as a Williams NW-2 in NYC colors. I will be adding TMCC – DigitalDynamics this time. I tried a Willams Berk with TAStudios with EOB and was not impressed - it never really ran right and ended up being a huge waste of $$. But it most likely was something I did. The antenna with a metal tender shell gets very tricky – I definitely think the diesel will be easier.

Have a great Sunday!

I saw some earlier posts from Dennis and Dr. John about train shows here in Dixie. While it is not a huge deal, the Manchester Railroad Days is coming up in two weeks – October 20th– 21st.  The show is on the 21st.

Manchester, GA just a bit north from Columbus. Dr John, it may be a bit of a drive for you, but I think it is closer than Huntsville. It is about a 45 minute drive for me. I head to Manchester now and again as there is a small CSX yard there with a viewing platform. Manchester was a major point with a yeard and facilities for the AB & C and then ACL.

I was there last year and it is not much of a show. I remember there being 3 – 4 O Scale dealers there with a mix of MTH and new / old Lionel. Also some vendors with collectables such as lanterns and timetables, and a few book / video vendors.

As I mentioned, there is the viewing platform for railfanning. Manchester is pretty small – there is a McDonalds to eat at, but overall, there is nothing more for entertainment that I know of. Warm Springs is just north - it is a nice historical / state park setting of FDR's southern White House.  All in all, it was a good time. I am definitely heading down again this year for a few hours.

Mornin' All,

Boy was that a motly lookin' gang at the resteaurant, hope the proprietors counted the utensils after those folks left. Laugh [(-D]

Chuck, Those were some gorgeous shots, especially the sunset when you were returning home. Sounds as if everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves.

Now the question is "Who scored the best buys?"

Was that "The Rocket Car" or the Coors Silver Bullet ? Smile [:)]

Will be running at the museum thursday nite, 6-10. The NMRA convention is going to be visting and getting the $10 tour, sorry Chief that you only got the two-bit tour. Will be running on the two upper level lines but the lower two will not be used so the lift bridge can be left up so the visitors can look and see everything.

Everybody play safe and have fun !!!

Good afternoon eveyone,

It has been a beautiful day here, Sunny & temps in the low 70s.  Spent some time working on the pond this afternoon and spray painted parts of my crane-tender project.

Talked to another O gauger at church this morning, he is going to be out of town and miss York. Sad [:(]  There are several O gaugers and one Garden railroad guy with a nice G gauge layout, that attend our church.

Take care,

HI GIZ,

   BEARS WIN AGAIN!!!!!! 5-0!

Didn't watch game was working on closing down the pond with my wife.  Cut down all the lily pads, pulled all the pumps and UV lights out cleaned them up and put them away.  Cleaned all the filters.  put net up to keep leaves out of pond.  Then after all that did a nice easy 4 miles.  Not too bad of a day.  Now to watch the EAGLES(not FRANK).

Got in service for next two days YUK.

OTTS GIZ, notice I put YUZ GIZ in red for the OHIO STATE color,  looks like YUZ had a great time?  Any good buys?

Later.
