Not mentioning any names, NS Trackman, someone is trying to be top o' the page for 1,000!

Warmer here today, 98. We get another cool down for the weekend. Hoever - I will be in OHIZO assisting the unwashed in their understanding of the benefits of GRITS!

Wonder when these hyper-busy days will end...

John, Go to www.electricrr.com , they have a kit for some of the cabooses(cabeese?) so you don't cook the elements or worse yet have a meltdown/fire. If memory serves me correctly it also allows you to keep the ETD operating if the smoker is turned off. Remember Tom, spankybird, had the caboose meltdown. Sad [:(]

Good morning from Gettysburg. No rain here yet. I hope the rain doesn't bypass us completely. Poor Chief he'll be waterlogged before all is said and done.

Congrats to dougdagrump for being the first poster on Page 1000. I wonder if nstrackman ever got to get some shuteye. He tried so hard to get to 1000, seemed a little punchy there in the last few posts.

Well, take care and stay dry.

Good morning, all.

I hope everyone has a safe and pleasant Labor Day weekend. We are taking the in-laws out to eat tomorrow night for their anniversay. 38 years together. I can't imagine.

I hope to meet up with the Chief on Tuesday when he's up this way. He's getting a little rain I hear.

Have a good day.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

1000 pages....That IS a WOW.

It is a rainy, gloomy cool 60 degrees. Going up to only 65 today. Looks like "Ernesto" hit the South pretty good. Hope all the folks are OK.

Today is a slow day. Nobody wants to get up. Sleep all day. It's Friday, I guess. Got to get moving. Have a few errands to run and chores to do today. Will run trains this afternoon.

Jim...Keep an eye on Chief.

Off to the Dining Car. I'm on my own today. Later.

Y'all have a great day.

Quite a milestone. Good morning from a grey and cool Chicago. I'm all dressed up today to take the El up to our other campus in a little while to receive a "Major Award" at our fall convocation. Wish me luck. I'm not comfortable wearing suits and standing up in front of a zillion people.

Morning all.  Windy and raining.  Had a lull and wife went out and picked up limbs.  Forecasters said no wind problems.  As usual, they were wrong.  I grew up down east and am use to the real hurricanes.  Hair cut lady just called, her schools are closed and she wants to delay my appointment.  She's bad about that.  Speaking of schools, all the counties north, south and east of us are closed.  All the counties west of us are 2 hour delay.  Wake Co. is school as usual.  This has gotten them in trouble more times than you can imagine.  Kids on stranded buses and walking home in ice storms and snow storms.  Today, stream flooding and trees down.  Afraid the PA guys are going to get this and maybe more as they seems to dump lots of rain on them if they go up that way.  Look out Colin, you might get it too.  Good luck all.

Well, we made a 1,000.   Great job guys.

Phone will not stop ringing.  Wife stayed home from work.  Now I know what she does all day at work.  Yack on the phone. Wink [;)]  I need to check the rain gauge.  She said 2.5 inches of rain.  Shower and breakfast time [slept late].

Jim A, did you get into the maple syrup?  Got your answering machine last night.  Probably out sdie digging up somemore of that money he has burried.  He has been buying some really nice post war engines.

John, on the caboose.  I use a bridge rectifier to reduce voltages on smoke units when using 18 volts and TMCC.

Now, put in a switch under the frame to allow you to switch from bridge rectifier to straight voltage when running conventional.  Seems K-Line had this arrangement.  BTW: I think I ended up using only three rectifiers and not the five.  I started with five and worked my way down to get the best smoke output.

Breakfast time.

Six more posts and the POT will have 20.000 idems posted on 1000 pages.

another milestone today for sure maybe ill be the lucky one ??

here is a poem written by Mr S W Lapan a good friend of  mine.

he served , and he is a disabled Vet.

here is what he writes....................

AMERICA’S BEST
by: Stephen W. Lapan

As I stand here and look at “THE WALL,”
I think about these 58 thousand who gave their all.
Like those before them in times of strife,
They defended freedom with the cost of limb and life.

I had the honor to serve with these heroes not so long ago,
Off to Southeast Asia we did go.
Like those who served before us, it was our turn,
Like those before us, many did not return.

From the shores of Tripoli,
To the bloody beaches of Normandy.
Millions have paid the price,
So that American’s can enjoy their life.

Husband, Father, Lover, Friend, and Son,
How do we thank their families for what they have done?
Soldier, Sailor, Airman, and Marine, all serve,
Let’s give them the honor they deserve.

Whether the war was wrong or right,
These courageous men took up the fight.
Honor all fallen warriors as best we can,
Tell the family about their man.

Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know,
The seeds of liberty these men did sow.
Laid here before us in eternal rest,
These unselfish Veterans are truly, “America’s Best”.
