Good poem, NS Trackman (I just got that, thanks!  Duh!)

1000 pages!  Dougdagrump - you ROCK!

Off for a few days of nice vacation - working on the house.  Labor day = labor for free day at my house!

BTW: I picked up a dvd on sale of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms.  There is a trailer for The Black Scorpion.  In the trailer, a Lionel Lines (I froze the frame and inched through the scene to make sure!) train gets attacked and all aboard are EATEN by GiAnt Scorpions!  Loco #1000 I think.  I'm going to try and post a pic this weekend and see if any of you guys can identify the set this came from etc.  Pretty funny they left that on there!  I've got the dvd of The Black Scorpion, too -- think I picked it up a year ago or so.  Somebody told me this was in there and I was going to check on it, but I forgot.  Then, watching the trailer, there it was! HA!

Laz - I guess this make you the Beast from 20,001 Fathoms!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Type this again [as the Yankees are playing] as the server was locked up.  Got interrupeted from posting the big post above as the Edgecombe Co. Sheriff called to say he had checked on Mom.  Everything was OK [as she is down east where it is worse].  Said some roads are flooded.  Will get worse later as streams crest in a couple of days.  Now for the part I missed.

GREAT JOB DOUG.   Tell them to send money. Wink [;)]

LAZ, you'd better behave as it is coming your way. Shock [:O]

The SIL was released from the hospital yesterday evening.  He's able to get around a bit with a walker but has a lot of therapy before things get back to normal.  Thanks to all for your parayers, I'm sure they helped tremendously.

Off to Mississippi for a long weekend.  Tomorrow at sun up I'll be sitting in a dove field watching the birds approach, dodge my shot, and keep on going.Blush [:I]

Have a enjoyable and safe weekend all.

Sorry I missed your call last night, Frank. We went to my wife's parent's home for a nice chicken pot pie dinner. Had a great time. Maple syrup was not used, but it was discussed. I asked my sister-in-law to take the kids for a sleep over, but she is heading to Maine for the weekend. I asked her if she would take me. She declined. Nice gal, but not very open minded . . .

This just in....

August 21, 2006 Roxbury MA - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Boston courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.  After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning  that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the  judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should  have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and  confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody  to the Boston Red Sox, whom the boy firmly believes is not capable of  beating anyone.

The boy would be MOST SAFE with the Cub's. I'm so glad that college football season is here.

The Cub's are on track to lose 100 games this year......... and I still watch/listen to Ron & Pat. Why? I need therapy.

Yankees.  If he was down South, we would feed him sausage, bacon, eggs and grits for breakfast.  Then he'd have SOUTHERN fried chicken, mashed potaotes with gravy, butter beans and sweet ice tea for lunch.  Dinner, he'd have country ham, rice with red eye gravy, big biscuits and sweet ice tea.  He would not have a problem. Good afternoon all,

It is cloudy and in the 70s in SE Indiana.  Thank you all for the messages of support.  The showing starts in a hour and a half.  It will be a long afternoon.  Congrats on the 1000/20000 mark!  Chief, please stay as dry as possible.  Jaabat, you had me going on the child custody case :-)

Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

By looking at the trash line, the water made it to the edge of the road at the pond.  Would have had to go another 2 feet [in height] to go over emergency spillway.  Dropping pretty fast over spillway [running out the full length of my concrete job].  Still coming in from two creeks pretty fast.  Actually we have not had over 2 1/2+ inches from this storm [per wife].  The biggie was the ohter day when it rained 4.2 inches in 50 minutes.  Few limbs down around the pond but no trees.  Pretty calm event.  LAZ, hope it does not flood and twist up your way.   Same for John and Mitch [and any other PA folks] amd Colin hanging out there near PA.  Wife watching her type of programs on TV.  Think it is train time.

Congratulations all on the many, many pages here.  Also on the many posts.  Been busy the last week.  My son had a Roto Virus that had him purging out of both ends since Monday.  Got him some medicine to help keep his food and liquids down as he was dehydrated.  It is bad when we get sick, but 4 year olds tend not to understand.  He did not complain, just layed there.  My sister in law just got diagnosed with *** cancer and has a tough road ahead of her.  One of the guys that I work with, his wife just died of *** cancer and they have two kids under 10.  I mention all of this so that you remember to be thankfull for what you have been blessed with.  Perhaps give your family a hug, or if they are away, a call.

ON the train front, I got a whole stack of train magazines from the 50's, some rail fan related, some railroad worker/owner related.  Lots of interesting items and articles.  I have a few photos that I need to post so Colin can identify them.  It was interesting reading the stories of the different passenger trains and also the war with the trucking lobby.  I will have to post some of the information.

Chief, hope you are doing well.  We only had a little rain the other day, nothing bad.  We are heading to Savannah the end of the month, so if you are going to the area, or if Pam is heading that way, let us know.

Take care,
Dennis

DENNIS, sorry to hear about your bad luck.  Prayers to you, your son and sister in law.

CHIEF sounds like it is very soggy done your way.  Glad no destruction to your pond.

TMCCMAN, yes JELECTRIC, MITCH and I have targets on us for the big rain.

Our football games have been moved up to start at 5PM instead of 7PM.  Hopefully they get em in?

I have to go out and check all the down spouts to see they are not clogged up.  With this much water coming don't want em clogged up.

Later.

"Dag nap it", Pam is going to be in KC for a USDA meeting all that week.  I get in on the 23rd from CA, she flies out on Monday.  If not, I would schedule Savanah for training.  What we have to do is, I schedule Macon for training, then we go to Savanah for the next training.  Then we can be a little carivan.  Will know more about scheduling the training at BPS Tuesday afternoon [what the meeting in NH on Tuesday is about].  Will let you know what happens.  Will remember your family in our prayers.

Chief, glad to hear your storm damage was minor. Hope you guys living up the eastern seaboard avoid problems with the storm.

Not as humid as it has been. Temp hit about 90 but not too bad weather wise. High school football cranks up here in Alabama this weekend. Youngest daughter going to the Prattville High School game tonight. We're ranked number 3 in the state. Should have a good season barring injuries, etc.

Been playing around with RR Track software, designing some plans to fit in on a 5x9 layout. May do a variant of the layout featured in Greenberg's Model Railroading with Lionel Trains. Roland LaVoie designed a nice 5x8 layout crowded with track and accessories - just what I like. I may follow his design with a couple of changes and using different accessories.

OK,

What is going on here? I was the first poster last night for page 1000 and today that post is on page 999. NSTrackman was the 2nd poster and he is also on 999. I did not intend to beat NSTrackman out as it appeared he had signed off when I went for it.

Somehow we have been gypped out of our honors and we wnat it back!

I will be working with the OTTS gang to stage a raid.

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

When I checked in last evening we were at page 999.  Go out for the day and now it is 1002, guess i missed the 1000th Page.

Anyway, Congratulations Chief Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Colin, Last K-line reefer is a BANANAS Fruit Dispatch Company.  It comes with bunches of bananas to hang inside the car.  The roof lifts off to install them.  Don't think they ever shipped them that way as banging around inside a reefer going down the tracks wouldn't be the best way to treat bananas, but it looks cool.

Weather here at present is windy with rain off & on.  Didn't go to the HS football game as sitting in a cold rain at my age is not a good idea.

Keep dry,

Got one of those.  Bananas don't like to stay in the racks. Big Smile [:D]  Just got another ttux with SP trailers.  Think I've got 15 or so with the one I got the other day.  Think I have enough for a train now.

Jon, come over to the dark side - the South Side --and root for the real Sox... I just missed riding the White Sox World Champions El train this morning.
I survived my award presentation. Lots of pomp like only a university can do. Thanks Chief! Then had to go back to work while everyone else went home. They do give me some $ but I think the bride has it already spent. Drat.
Dennis, what is it with the 4 year olds this week? My youngest was sick too. So was the daughter but she miraculously recovered in time to go see her boyfriend play football tonight - Crystal Lake South H.S. cracked the state's top 20. Don't think it'll last though: competition is tough. I'm hanging around for her call to go pick her up - everyone else is abed. After getting ready for my small group tomorrow morn, I may go putter around the basement. I'll keep your family in my prayers, along with Lucas. May you all enjoy a safe weekend! Went out briefly with the bride for pizza tonight - didn't touch a beer as all sorts of sobriety stops are out tonight.

Light rain, but a heavy wind here tonight. Supposed to clear up here by 6 in the morning or at least by noon. Laz, Mitch, Jefelectric what is it like where you guys are?

Jefelectric, I was going to buy one of those reefers, but I opted for the Doggie Dinner one, reminded me of my little guy.

Good night everyone,

Colin

Colin,  Pretty windy here but not much rain yet.

I also have one of the doggie dinner reefers.  Did you put the little cartons together that came with it?  My wife and grandaughter did mine for me.

Calling it a night now.
