Dr. John, How's that 2037 you recently won on Ebay? Have you received it yet? Jim

Yes, I received it last weeks. The pictures did not do it justice - it is a marvelous looking engine in nearly pristine condition. No chance to run it yet (alas!) but you can bet I'll run the dickens out of it when I get the Christmas layout up sometime in November.

Mike,  Sorry to hear of your Mom's passing.  Our prayers for you and your family that God's peace and comfort be with you all.

I tried to post last night as I was busy fixing a mechanism on a reclining couch.  I came across a neat idea with regard to modelling a certain time period.  Google the year and type "photos" and see what you come up with .  I am going with 1949 and actualy got a web site with 4 pages of trains from the era.  It is all above the Mason Dixon line, (sorry Chief), but we'll make do.

Mike C :  sorry to hear about your Mom's passing . You & your family will be in our prayers here too. I learned a long time ago that prayer is one of the most powerful things we can do.

Well, I see Jim is picking up his ZW tonight !! You know that is one of my most favorite train pieces I have, & I sure have enjoyed mine. I'm on my second one now, cause I sold my first collection of stuff a few years ago & then started over just a bit before I got on this forum.

Oh, glad Marty is here & I sure enjoy giving his web site out on Phasing transformers ! I think when I started over this time, that was one of the first web-sites I found ! Now for a pop up, how about that DVD, outdoor movie theater built in one, that was featured in CTT ? !! HA !! He probably has that area all filled in, but I just wanted to mention the idea of the outdoor theater as a combined pop up thing !!  I'm really thinking of it for my layout, & just think of all the Diecast cars I can put on that !!

Well, hope everyone has a nice evening, oh, I almost forgot, now I may be able to go to Toms to see Roy, though not real sure yet, depends on a couple other guys, if one of  work Sat. or not .

Thanks, John

Afternoon.  Roseyville does not need a tropical storm.  2 3/4 inches of rain just fell in 50 miuntes. Shock [:O]  I'm sure the pond is running over.  Was on the way to install some imporvements to my stormwater devices at the pond emergency run around when it suddenly hit.  Seems a boundry [not Mason Dixion] came through and the storms made up over Roseyville and Wake Forest.  Did it rain.  Now I will really have a mess if we get the 5 inches forecast for tomorrow night and Friday AM.   Didn't get to do any train work as lightning was zapping everywhere.  Lab came out from under the bed and hid behind my recliner.  Poor Murphey [16 years old] didn't hear anything and kept going to the door to go out but when he saw rain, ran back in.  Sun out now.  Hot had humid again [reminds me of south FL].  Later.

Good Evening.

Mike, my condolences for the loss of your mother.

I have not posted much lately as things have been pretty quiet just south of the ATL. Weather is still hot and humid – typical GA weather. I continue the work outside and around the house, I started on yet another door. Part of the frame is rotted out so I will try a repair – new doors are just too expensive. Looks like Earnesto will pass by the east of us.

I have been continuing pretty steady on the layout – I have had more time to devote to it. I ran into some issues with some dwarf signals for which John lent some advice. I thank you for that John (jefelectric) - you set me in the right direction. You also mentioned that you used a track cleaning car – who makes and and how does it work for you?

About two weeks ago I bough a book on Lionel Post War 1945 – 1969. OK, I have been bit. I bought my first PW piece a 6462 NYC gondola; waiting for it to arrive. I am also watching some other pieces – I seem to like the NCY stuff - the 6356 stock car and the 3464 operating car. The Baby Ruth cars look pretty cool as well.

Good Evening....It really cooled off here. Got the front grass cut and now, just have the back to cut. The leaves are actually starting to turn a slight shade of gold and red. You can see them starting.

John ( jefelectric )....Thanks for the tip on the track. I will check it out.

Y'all have a nice night.

MikeC - my condolences to you and your family during this most difficult time.

LAZ - 2600 board feet... that's a lot of wood.  What kinds of projects do the students build?  I have fond memories of building projects in Jr. High.  We also had a print shop where we learned how to set type by hand... Does that give away how old I am????

Chief - Hope the rains duck around you.  We could use some rain here just above the Mason Dixon line.  We've gotten none of the rain that jefelectric and LAZ have gotten.

Tom Schmidt - congratulations on the new job.  How many schools and how many students are in the new district?  Hope you have a smooth opening. Glad to see you back on the forum.

Things have been pretty smooth opening school. Some of the usual complaints from parents, but nothing out of the ordinary.  Will be nice to have a three day weekend.

Take care,

Mitch

Praying for Chief too - we've had our share of bad storms in the St. Louis/Jefferson County MO areas this years and I know Tom and Keith (?) had some bad storms this year too.  What a year!

My wife's got bronchitis - on meds now, so hopefully better soon.  Coughing is worse at night - don't know why, maybe altered aether?

I'm off Friday through Tuesday.  My friends is coming over Saturday to help put in some plumbing in the basement.  Friday, therefore, I'll be selling my oldest to pay for the copper pipe.  He'll be missed.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Luther, I use a Centerline track cleaning car.

I am happy with the results.

Also glad I was of some help to you with your SC-2 problems.

Looks like we are down to 3 pages to go.

Good night.

Up for a minute.  John S was watching an item for me on Choochoo in case I got out bid.  Had a good cushion with max bid.  Wanted it bad [Grain Elevator Kit, N sealed in box].  Got one but want to kitbash this one for mine operation.  More rain.  Lots of rain.  Bet we have had 4 inches or more by now.  More thunder close by.  Tropical depression is not getting her until tomorrow evening.  This is some fluke boundry and moisture from heat and humidity.  Sump pump in basement going strong.  Good night.

Mike - sorry for the loss of your mother.

Greg - I don't know. I have limited time in the area. My main rason for being there is for a family reunion on Sunday and then I fly back to TX. My aunts and uncles that are left are really getting up there (all in their 80's).

Been very busy this week. Tired. Til later!

Mike, Deepest condolences on your loss, the pain will lessen with time.

If anyone happens to see a K-Line Lackawanna Express Service boxcar give me a holler, one of our club members is a big Lackawanna fan and I think it would be a great surprise to find one(he's tried E-Bay but always gets sniped in the final seconds).

Hope all you easties don't have any big problems with this Censored [censored] weather heading up your way, Fl made out pretty good on this one. Now if John follows his forecast path I be pleased. It doesn't happen often but on rare occaission they have come up the Gulf of California.

Good morning all.

Here it is at long last, my 2000th post. But before any one congratulates me, I'll say that without the friendship and comraderie I've found here, there wouldn't be nearly that many. I've met some wonderful people on this forum and learned one heck of a lot. So thanks to all of you for becoming such a great part of each day. I really do enjoy your company!

I spoke with the Chief last night for a good long spell. That numbnuts was making me laugh pretty good! Before I knew it, an entire hour had gone by.

I'm glad to hear that Dr. John is happy with his 2037. Sounds like he got a great deal.

I hope everyone has a great day. I'm off to make a cup of tea and have some breakfast.

HI GIZ,

Another grey morning here.  Waiting to see where DA CHIEF,is going to steer that storm?  DC is suppose to get 12 inches of rain?  Hope we don't get that much?  Maybe HS football games will be cancelled?  Sounds like a great nite on Friday to run trains.

MITCH, with that 2600 board feet I have about 250 kids that it will supply.  The 7th graders make a coin bank and a foot stool.  Eight graders do a little more complex project.  They have a choice of a gun rack, CD tower, jewelry box, night stand or mirror frame, then we sand blast images onto the mirror.

Oh yea, Happy Friday Eve!

All have agood one.

Morning all.  Rain?  What is Rain?  OH, that stuff that started at 3 PM and stopped at 4PM to gvie me a break to do some more storm water improvements at the pond.  The lightning that ran me away from teh pond at 7 PM.  Then stormed again and again.  Sounded like a cow peeing on a flat rock until 11 PM. Shock [:O] At 11 PM, 4.2 inches of rain.  Now, the tropcial storm is to get here tonight and into tomorrow.  Goiing to see if pond ran over late last night.  Generator and gas ready so will probably not need it.  Where am I sending the storm.  Ohizo!!!!   That New England Yankee has received more than his share of rain this year.  Will be uncovering all those boxes of money in his backyard.  It'll rain up there Tuesday and Wednesday as I will be up there. Wink [;)]   Notice, no one is congrating him on 2,000 posts. Shock [:O]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Whistling [:-^] Cloudy and foggy here.  Won the grain elevator on ChooChoo last night. Big Smile [:D] Better head to the pond.  Later

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a wet 67 degrees and only going up to 73 today. Rain coming. It rained pretty good last night. The Boys must have heard thunder in the distance. They were nervous.

Today is an inside day. I'm glad I got the grass cut last night. I will run trains today and work on the layout. It's nice when you can run trains and work on the layout at the same time. I have a lot to do this winter with the new expansion project. It will keep me busy.

Glad to hear that Chief won the bid. Have fun.

Jim ( jaabat )..Congratulations on your 2000th post.  YOUR addition to the Forum, has gained you a lot of friends. OUR THANKS.

The Dining Car is open. Off to breakfast. Be back later.

Y'all have a great day.

A quick good morning from a sunny northeastern Illinois. Congratulations Jim on this significant milestone. You're a real asset to this forum and a friend. My condolences, Mike, to you and your family on the loss of your mom.

Got another sound activation button to work in so far as the trolley now runs with it wired into the transformer - I had connected the wrong wires - but it's not blowing the horn on these QSI-sound-equipped trolleys. When I press the button, the lights dim a tad but nothing happens.
