John......I just went outside and ate a shovel full of dirt and washed it down with a pint of spackling compound and finished up with a bowl of Cream of Wheat ( lumpy, of course ). Drank a quart of cold water, and burped twice. And the answer is......................
It has got to taste better than GRITS......................

It was reported in our news that the Lexington Airport just underwent some type of paving project. Was something forgotten?

I agree with doug(dagrump), Where were the guys in the tower? When the plane started to roll down the wrong runway why wouldn't they have hit the panic button and warned the pilots?
On a train topic, found an interesting bit of news on the trainwire of the sister publication of CTT.

Mitch, How did you lose 160 kids?
And now it is only 6 pages to go!

Speaking of Marty E [earlier], where are you???? Hasn't posted in a few.
Oh John S., they called me "the elephant" at work. Not because I was so big but because I loved peanuts [furnished vehicles for the peanut graders and they brough me cases of peanuts] and could remember things way back that related to work and vehicle assignments.
Hope wife goes back to work tomorrow. Got nothing done as she was sleeping down stairs and I did not want to bump around upstairs over her. Was too hot and humid to work outside. Got water bill. Spent extra $20 last month watering to keep things going. Rain please. Oh Jim A, rain on the way up Nawth next week as headed your way. Probably storm will intensify and move in as I leave. Later.
Another long day.
Got some good news so far about the car. Now it may just be $2,000 to fix. We did not bust our daughter for this. Anyone can graze a curb. This was a bad curb and not really her fault. I was also glad that she did not have an accident with another vehicle and no one was hurt.
For you OHIZO guys. I got thos package from the Chief full of white powder. He said to bring it to OHIZO and cook it up for yuz giz. Wonder what it could be?
Have a great day tomorrow!

Morning guys,
Hope all is well. Have a quick story that was on the local radio yesterday. A local GA man was killed while riding his riding lawnmower on the tracks......alcohol was believed to have played a roll in the train accident. Sad, I feel sorry for the locomotive crew. The guy's family (idiot on the tractor) will probably sue the RR and win.
Anyway, gotta get to some cases, have a great day.

Hi GIZ,
Rainy again here this morning. Humid too.
Well when it rains it pours. You guessed it another 1300 board feet came today during my lunch. No kids again and couldn't take any from study halls. Me and the janitor unloaded this load. It least it was pine and not that heavy. Oh well the kids and going to stack it on friday up stairs. 178 days till summer?
JELECTRIC, I have that same filter with the plastic media inside. Got it at that fish place in Lancaster. I paid $600 for it. Works great. Got to get one next year for the smaller pond.
JON, What type of windmills? Do they produce electricity?
All have agood one.

Good morning all,
It is humid in SE Indiana with temps in the 70s, but the air is so thick it is miserable. Lucas had a good day despite the chemo. He is eating well and being more active and alert. My mom is the same. She wanted my dad, her sister, and me at her bedside yesterday afternoon and we thought the end was near. Long story short, I was calling the hospital at 5 AM today to see how she was doing. This could last for a while and so I won't be making any more comments on that topic unless the situation changes.
Roy, I am glad the car is not as bad as you thought. I have enjoyed the discussion on the characteristics of a southern person and the "flavorfulness" of grits. I picked up a few southern phrases during my days at Hanover as many students were from "south of the border". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training....in the free world (with apologies to Neil....Young, that is),

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a humid 72 degrees and only going up to 77 today. Suppose to have showers on and off, all day. It rained almost all day yesterday. Grass is green and growing. Gotta mow soon.
Worked all afternoon, yesterday, in the basement, throwing out all the saved stuff that only collects dust. Today, I will finish up that chore and take it easy the rest of the day. Maybe run trains later.
Roy...Good luck with your car. Sounds like a hard hit to the curb. Nothing is cheap with automobiles anymore. I'm glad we only need one.
Chief....Maybe you should start making noise in the morning, like sawing wood, and then the wife will surely go back to work. Good idea??
I'm off to the Dining Car for breakfast. I'll be back later.
Y'all have a great day.
Greetings from a dank Chicago where it rained all day yesterday and is grey today.John, there are photos of the repainted C&NW F unit here: http://www.irm.org/gallery/albums.phpWorked a bit last night to add the Lionel connector buttons for horn and bell to the transformers (thanks John!). I think I did it right with the R transformer. Do they activate the sound when pressed down or when you let it go? It seems to work intermittently and it may be just because I use one lockon to connect to 60 ft of track. The other two transformers are from Lionel train sets and are 'hard-wired' into the throttle - so it doesn't work and I have probably reversed the wires. Oh well, at least I don't have to work tonight - one of the few Tues. nights I am off.

Babysitting this morning with the 3 & 5 year old grandaughters. Made breakfast & just finished reading until I about lost my voice.
Laz, My filter also came from that fish place. Don't remember what it cost but do remember thinking at the time that I could get a pretty nice loco for the price. The one I replaced had 3 sets of foam filters above the plastic media and they had to be either cleaned or replaced every couple of weeks, a real pain in the . I see you have started the countdown. . By the time York rolls around you will be ready for a day off.
Doug, Thanks for the link, some great pictures. Have you seen the real thing?
Roy, Glad to hear the cost has gone down.
Chuck, I have been working on getting rid of junk in the basement for a couple of weeks. The next item on the agenda is to start listing some train stuff on ebay that I no longer need/want. Some post war and some more modern stuff that no longer fits into my layout theme or operation.
Well got to get back to watching the girls.
CHIEF,that lady from PA must be a smart lady if YUZ GIZ hired her? Or maybe she just felt sorry for YUZ? Battin done your hatches sounds like that tropical storm is to set up shop in your vicinity for a few days? Hope your spillway is up for the challenge?
JELECTRIC,the filter I got at that fish place is called the Ultimate II. All you have to do is turn off pump and move switch to clean out, turn pump back on, run for a minute then turn off power again move switch to rinse turn pump back on for a minute and repeat 3 times. Works great.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Afternoon everyone, Hope all is well. Just taking in a little train action on History International, "When Giants Roamed, the golden age of steam". It is listed as Voyages.
A little hint for those who are modelling a particular era, if you type the year and photos, you can get some great ideas for scenery. I typed "1949 photos" and found a web site with lots of photos with trains, both steam and diesel. Even though most of the photos I found were from New England, they are still useful (sorry Chief).
Good afternoon everyone,
I am typing this on my new laptop. I just recieved my Dell Inspiron E1705. I customized it for my needs. I put the best software for music, movies, pictures, and so on. It was high in price when I got finished. All of the files are installed, so I should be sharing photos soon.
Talk to you all later,
Colin

Hi Every one !!
ROY !! Be careful, don't touch that stuff !! Could kill ya in its powdery state !!
Well, mowed the grass already & ate supper !! Now, I might be working Sat. & Sunday. Will be good to have Monday off, anyway !! I do feel bad about not getting up to see Roy, but the RR seems to think they own you & of course it's nice on payday !!
LAZ : that type of windmill is just for aeriating the pond or something like that. It doesn't make electricity . I can't remember what all it does, but it's supposed to be really great for ponds !!
Doug M : those buttons are supposed to start the bell & the horn, but I can't remember if the bell & horn goes off when you let go or stays on !! I'm thinking John, (Jeffelectric) or someone else here would know !!
Nice picture of Jons', John Deere train & gas pump & truck !! Can't wait to see more of his layout now !!
Well, hope everyone has a nice evening !!
Thanks, John Hey, we have at least 3 Johns now, or 2 Johns & 1 Jon !!
