Mike -- good news on Lucas, prayers continue for your family.

Still haven't gotten my gondola I ordered a week ago :(

Wife and kids are going to KC for the weekend.  I'm staying home and running copper pipe for the shower in the basement with the help of a good friend.  Then just installing electric boxes and running wire for the weekend.  Maybe one day this will all be done.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all.  Wife and I went to wally world in Wake Forest.  Gas at BP was $2.61!!!  Then I get a 5% discount.  Still outragous.  Glad to see Jon can now post pictures.  Been missing his pictures.  Got to find that JD store you got those from.  Got another CN box car [Lionel] from Train City and Choo Choo Auctions.  Excellent as usual.  Think we've got rain coming our way.  Mowed neighbors' grass this afternoon.  Then weeded the curb from my house to the end of the block.  See Roy is raiding in Ohizo. Wink [;)]  Then I will be raiding in New England next week and then Idaho.  Us REBS get around. Big Smile [:D] Later.

Hello everyone,

Well, it's been a few weeks since I had a chance to get on here for a chance to talk to you all. Life has been crazy. We had my nieces here from Germany for 3 weeks and they went home today. It was great having them here.

I am coordinating a trip to Johannasburg, South Africa for right after Christmas. There is a worldwide meeting of youth and young adults in the United Methodist Church. I have to get the delegation from the Northeast there. This is taking a lot of time, getting them registered and flights booked.

On top of all that I am starting a new job this Friday. I am currently the Asst. Supt at a school sysyem outside of Buffalo. I have almost an hour and a half trip to work every day. I will now be the Supt of a small school system only 20 minutes from home. I have been busy finishing up 1 job and getting ready for the next. I think September will be busy!

Well, I am tired and think I'll head to bed shortly. I am glad we have a long weekend coming up. Have a nice night all.

Good night from here too.  Watched the late news with weather.  Seems storm is headed for us with big rain.  No wonder I sweated today this afternoon while I was mowing and weedeating.  It was 99 with heat index of 110.  Wow.   Record high for today was 100 in 1948.  Should be soon cooling down some here.  Tomorrow.

Gonna be big OTTS doin's in Willowby Sat afternoon - ya'll come!

LAZ - that's a lotta lumber. Does that last you all semester or all year?

Forgot to mention we had rain for half the day yesterday in addition to the inch we got on Sunday. Weather was beautiful here today - 93 for high and nice breeze. Broke the string of 19 100 degree days in a row. Supposed to be 67 in the am and a high of 90 tomorrow. I'll have to break out a sweater.

Good morning all.

Glad to hear that the Chief is getting some rain. He might wish differently after the storm passes. Looking forward to seeing that rascal next week.

Not much new here. Will be picking up the ZW tonight after work. Weather is supposed to be nice for a few days. My daughter starts school today.

Still itchy as all getout. Now I have some kind of rash all over my upper body. The wife thinks it's some kind of allergic reaction to the poison ivy medication.

And where's Keith?! Keith, you're turning into an infrequent flyer.

Hi GIZ,

Cooler  and less humid here today.  Only get to 73.

Started to teach lessons yesterday got all talked out.

ROY,  Lumber 2600 board feet will last me the year with 7th and 8th graders.  Sometimes they eat it up like ternmites and other times they are slow as molasses in January, go figure?  Hope you have a great time in WILLOUGBY OHIO.  Have fun.

All have a good one?

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a gloomy, 65 degrees. Only going up to 73 today. Rain this afternoon.

Today is grocery shopping day. Gas is still 30 cents cheaper in Cambridge than in Caldwell. Lowest I paid recently was $ 2.50 a gallon. That's still a lot too high. Tourist driving must be off this year.

I'm starting to work on the train layout, a little each day. Have to finish securing the track and rebuild the mountain. My wife wants me to continue the track around the next room and bring it out, on the upper level on the other side of the cloud papered  wall. Then run it around the big room and attach it to the turnaround on the upper level. As in " two holes in the wall ". It's a great idea but will require 2 more switches and more track. The benchwork will be easy and I may start it and see what happens. I'll take pictures.

Well, off to the Dining Car for breakfast. See you later.

Y'all have a great day.

Morning all.  Wish working on layout is all I had to do. Tongue [:P]  Looks like some big rains coming.  Off to pond to "shore up" the emergency run around.  Then back to the house and maybe I can get upstairs.  Bet rain goes up to PA after leaving us.  Sometimes it gets heavier and causes problems up that way.  Hope not this time.  Jim A does not need anymore this year.  As for his body rash, its a reaction to spending some his money [he had burried in the back yard] on trains. Wink [;)]   Have a good one.

Good morning all,

Ran some trains & cleaned a little track by towing the track cleaning car around.  Lost the sound in my Weaver VO-1000.  Hope it is just a software thing.  Didn't take the time to check it out completely.

TomS, Congratulations on the new position.  For someone like me, who has had their fill of driving, that reduction in drive time would be great.

Chuck, If you are looking for track, there is a listing on the OGR buy sell board for a lot of track that looks like a real bargain to me.  Sounds like you are getting back into training. Big Smile [:D]

Roy, Hope your trip to Ohio is safe and enjoyable.  Good chance to meet the guys face to face.

I received a shipment of preordered Atlas cars from Bob Thatcher yesterday.  Included was one that both the Chief and Reggie can appreciate.

Weather here has been dreary.  Got about an inch of rain over the last couple of days.

It looks like Ernesto has not been as bad as expected so far, that's good.  Better than being worse than expected.

Grandson scheduled to mow lawn this evening if it drys out enough.  Didn't need to mow at all last week.

All have a good day.

Good morning from a drizzly Chicago. I'm glad I didn't work late last night: after supper, the bride drove to the library and on her way back heard a thumping under the van.  She had punctured a tire with a tiny piece of wood shaped like an arrowhead right through the tread. Boy was it flat. After deciding I didn't want to tackle it myself in the dark, I called AAA and after lots of work with WD-40 and power-tools, they swapped out the spare.  I can buy just one tire to replace it, right?  The other three have a fair amount of tread left.

Fair amount of train stuff in the news - the UP rescinding an order forbidding photography from Metra stations and the new head of Amtrak.

John, I think I have the wrong wires from the trainset tranformers connected to the button. Since the wires go into the plastic cover, I can't tell which is which.

DOUG,

See  if you can take that tire to a garage and get it plugged.  what they do is insert a filler material in the tire and it stops up the leak.  Cost about 2 bucks.

Chief, I think Marty E, went over to the other forum.  He has been logging on regularly over there.  Did someone insult him?  BTW did you like that boxcar?

Come on back Marty E! Smile [:)]

I doubt Marty was offended by anyone on this forum. He's too level-headed and has too good of a sense of humor for that. He does frequent a couple of other forums besides this one. I imagine he's just busy.

Still humid but not nearly so hot in central Alabama these days. Temps running in the low 90s. Evenings and mornings are actually pretty pleasant. Maybe fall isn't too far off - and football is just about here!

We'll be moving my mother into assisted living next week. A tough decision, especially for my father, but it has become necessary for her well-being.

Working on some plans for a new layout. I'll probably do a re-run of last year's Christmas layout then work on an all new "permanent" layout this winter.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy with temps in the 70s in SE Indiana.  The weather is sort of appropriate.  I got a call from the hospital about 2:30 this morning.  They said the breathing for mom was a lot slower, and by the time I got there, she was gone.  I stayed there with my dad until around 5 to take care of the initial funeral conversations.  We have a meeting at 1 PM today.  She is at peace now.  I will be checking the "coffeepot" the next few days, but I do not know if I will be doing any posting.  Thank you all for the prayers and support.  Maybe if you are running your trains some time you could blow the whistle once for her, I would appreciate it.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

YIKES!  I'm still around.  I posted a few pages back.

Any ways I've been spreading the wealth of my vast knowledge (trying to say that with a straight face).  No problems just haven't had much to say on the other topics and was kinda lost on the coffee pot post.  No I'm not going anywhere.  It's not that easy to get rid of me.

Any ways I'm off to Oregon today for ABC college FB.  I'll try to check in later.

Mike you and your family are in my prayers.

I'm kinda in a train lull right now too.  I am considering cutting an access hole and doing a rewire so that I can get the wires off the floor and in the bench work.  Might even move my control panel.  Hopefully some up coming time off will jump start my ambition.

Good afternoon,

Mike, Our prayers are with you and your family  I know this will be a rough time.

Those who asked about the box car.  I am sure Bob has some more of these CN cars.  The catalog no. is 8563-?.  There are four road numbers so the last digit can be from 1 to 4.

http://amhobbiesonline.com/

That is the web site.  They are listed under the preorder section as they just came in.  Preorder price was $51.95.

Looks like we are down to 4 pages to go!

Colin,  Very resourceful benchwork! Big Smile [:D]  Looks a little like some of my projects.

Well off to dye some more shingles.  I have to dye about 1200 for the doll house, am now about half way.
