Good afternoon,

John, Buckeye shure did a good job on those layout construction pictures.

Speaking of Buckeyes, I see that Ohio State has been picked as #1 in the nation to start the college football season.  Congratulations!

Good afternoon all,

It is hot and humid in SE Indiana with temps and humidity in the 80s.  I reffed one soccer game this morning and watched the high school girls lose 5-0.  I think your prayers are finally getting answered for Lucas.  He got some different medication that they normally use for AIDs patients that let him eat food while getting the chemo.  He is tired from the hospital stay (no sleep), but he is doing better today.  Grandson came to visit today (along with his mom).  He slept most of the time, but he cheered a lot of people up.  I really enjoyed the exchange concerning walleyes and frogs.  Although I do not fish, I would enjoy it if some amphibians or reptiles would grace our property.  I get tired of all the furballs.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training.....in the free world  (with apologies to Neil....Young, that is),

Mike C. from Indiana

PS  Got a free DVD from Kalmbach today on Dream Layouts or something.  Said I would not have to return it if I did not want to order any more, but I probably will.

Welcome back Gary, I see you posting on the other forum quite freguently.  One change with the new software that I don't like it that you can't see the other posts when writing your reply.  I keep two web pages open at the same time to CTT to avoid this problem, but it is a pain.

Welcome back scratch & congratulations on becoming a dad.  If I recall correctly you are living down Florida way, if so Garden RR would be a good way to go.

Mike C., Glad to hear that Lucas is doing better.  Yes those little Grandsons can cheer you up just laying there sleeping.

Did some garden work today and cleaned the pond filter, backflushed all the gorp (gag) into 5 gallon buckets and used it to water the roses.  Fertilizer and water all in one.  That is the down side to having a pond.  My wife loves to take care of the fish & frogs.  Right now we have a new batch of little fish about 3/4" long.

Going to post a few pictures on Sunday Photo Fun for a change.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Hey Al (scratchbrules),

Thought we lost you. Congrats on the little one. Garden RR editor liked my article/photos but wants to wait 1 year for the plants to grow in a bit more. Your tower will be included in some of the photos along with your credits.

Why the switch from NH to Fla? NH is cool and beautiful. Florida is hot and ugly.

No basements; you'll need a garden RR!

Evening all.  Congrats SCRATCH. Big Smile [:D]  Well, cooking my famous soup [okara, tomato, and hot peppers].  Haven't eaten yet [since this morning at breakfast].  Been busy.  Went to Miss Edna's but did not stay long.  Came home and spray painted the walk-in attic. Big Smile [:D]  Then cut plexiglas and caulked and put it over the round window in the end of the room.  That room is ready.  I still have some things in there but they can be stored nest to the walls and be out of the way.  White paint really lightened up the room.  Thought I would need another light fixture.  The one I put in several months ago is plenty.  Been watering since dark.  Shower time.  Family reunion tomorrow.  Later.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 70 degrees right now. Going up to 81 and sunny. No rain predicted.

Chief..... We wish Pam a HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!!!!!

Today, we are taking a ride to Cambridge, so the Wife can visit her Mom at the Assisted Nursing Home. She is 93 and very alert.

Jim...I found my track plans and I am working on the picture.

Yesterday, I tried doing some work with my gas trimmer. I quit after about 15 minutes. Today, I feel it. Got to build up those muscles.

Well, I will visit the Dining Car for breakfast. I hear they have a new waitress. ( She's still asleep ). I'm on my own.

Y'all have a great day.

Woke up at about 8 to take the dog out, had breakfast, read the paper, and am now off to Dick's Sporting Goods to buy new cleats. Soccer is coming up soon, so I have to prepare.

Going to wash my dad's car today, play world cup for a little, watch some tv and play XBOX 360.

Chief wish Pam a happy Bday from me.

Talk to you all later,

Good morning from Gettysburg.

LAZ - enjoy your last few days off. Glad your heel is feeling better.  Our teachers start back tomorrow.

Chief - Happy Birthday to Pam.  Hope all goes well with the reunion and your Mom.

Chuck - take it easy with the gas trimmer. Those things out a strain on the shoulders and muscles on the chest.  You don;t want to tear things up.

Jim Fortner - Hope your video goes well. We had a 50th for my folks a few years back.  I put together the slide show but my sister did the scanning( I hate that job).

I haven't had to cut the grass in over a week.  Things here are so dry.  Need to water tomato plants tonight.

Sister-in-law, brother in-law and a niece are in the DC area, thought we are going to visit them but the Mrs. decided against it.  Just as well, long ride and lots of walking, not good for the Mrs. arthrititis.

Have a great day.

Don - very cool VW Bus.  They look like mostly tinplate trains.  Where is the Bus located?  A museum???  The Chief could travel to his ProMariner jobs and run trains all at once.

Good Evening,

16 Pages to Go!

Chief, Wish Pam a Happy B-Day [bday] for us.  Our youngest is named Pam also.

Laz, sounds like you will be back to full speed shortly.

Uploading some photos for SPF as I write this.

Did a little work on DH project.  Takes a lot of time as most pieces must be prepainted prior to assembly, at least it is easier that way.

Enjoy your trains.

1.  You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

2.  You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.

3.  You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three.

4.  You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5.  Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses.

6.  You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

7.  Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8.  Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10.  You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

11.  You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

12.  Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

13.  You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

14.  You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.

AND NOW U R LAUGHING at yourself.

Go on, forward this to your friends. You know you want to!!   And Yes, I was laughing and I did scroll back to see that there wasn't a #9

Seems a waste of a good VW

Good morning all.

I hope Lucas is doing well.

Belated Happy Birthday to Pam Eagles!

We had a nice weekend. Sunny, mild day on Saturday was spent at the pool. Yesterday it rained so we ran errands.

Last week, I won a Lionel 2056 on Ebay. It came Thursday and looks brand new. I also bid on a great looking 2055 but unfortunately, lost that one. Would have been nice to have 2 post war Hudsons running at once. Some day . . .

Got a real good case of poison ivy. Never had it in my life! Now I'm an old geezer, and I catch it. Itchy!

Attention all craftsman:

Have any of you guys had experience in capping wood roofs (the underside of the roof gutter area)?

I have vinyl siding but discovered the builders had used wood up at the top on the underside of the drain. This stuff is not even treated, just some white paint over it.

I've already changed out the trim on the outside doors which warped badly, replacing it with vinyl, but the stuff on the roof needs to be capped before it too becomes bad.

I've got a 40' ladder (house is 38 feet tall), but could find no information on the procedure for capping.

Material used

How it is attached (nails and/or adhesive)

And if there's caulking involved

Thanks!

Good morning all.

Until this weekend, things on the train front had been pretty slow.  I have been kept busy arunbd the house, primarily painting which is far from my favorite activity.  Finished up the front door yesterday and it certainly was hot and humid.

We took a trip down to Macon last weekend only to find another local hobby store closed up.  It is always a disappointment to see that.

I made good progress this weekend on the trains.  I finally got the track in order after replacing some switches so I could at least run some trains.  I had a good session yesterday.  I also got some more wiring in and started on my next area of scenery.

I also had two good scores on Ebay – I bought my first 1033 which is older than me Smile [:)] as well as an operating mail pick up set (1988 version).

Well it is off to work.  Have a great day!
