Afternoon all.  Ran errands, took oldest to lunch and now got to put on the right oil filter on tractor.  Guess what???  Dougsnotagrump, going to be in Indian Wells CA Sept 20 thru 22.  Now Map Quest shows two Indian Wells but I bet it is the one near Palm Springs.  Now PM wants me in NH on Tuesday the 5th and then fly from there to Bosie ID and not get back until late Sunday night. Disapprove [V]  That is more than full time!!!!!!  We'll see.  Got in my TTUX with Southern trailers, Southern box car amd the original LHV hopper that matches the one I got with my set in '52.  Also got Alberta grain hopper today too.  WOW!!!  Got to run.  Later.

It's been a hetic past 24 hours around here.  On the good side folks from the local town weekly newspaper were out to talk trains and take photos of the layout for spread.  I don't expect too much out of it, maybe it'll put me in contact with another hobbiest or two.

On the dark side, the granddaughters' stepdad (ex-daughter-in-law's husband) had a bicycle accident last evening.  Heading home form his ride, four houses from home, a dog runs out and he hits it and does a flip over the handle bar landing on the road on the back of his neck.  As of this morning he's in ICU and has no feeling, nor movement from the waste down.

Since our d-i-l is spending her time at the hospital we have the girls, they are concerned but unaware of the extent of injury.  We're praying that it is only temporary.

Hi Everyone !

Roger : Hope that's only a temporary on your Grandaughters step Dad. Sorry to hear that.

Been quite tired hear lately after that big week last week. I won a new K-line tank car on Ebay & it came today. It's a Western Pacific & looks real nice to me. It will go good with my WP Lionmaster eng. Also been working on a little fuel depot for my tanker delivery truck . I'm attempting to weather it now. Haven't really weathered anything since my HO days years ago.

Oh, speaking of beer, which I haven't had a drink in about 15 years now, Chuck I do Remember POC !!  HA ! My Dad used to lay in a case every summer on his vacation in July. He also used to get Bock . Then I remember helping my Dad make some sort of beer too, & I would put the bottle caps on !! When I was a kid, there was 3.2 & then the other high power stuff, forgot now, but 3.2 was for 18 to 21 year olds. I go by a barn that the guy had a Koehler beer sign painted on. That was a beer back then made in Erie, Pa. Their slogan was, " pour yourself a Koehler Collar " !! Anyone remember that one ? !!

Glad Keith is back & had a real good time !!

Hope everyone has a nice evening !!

Thanks, John

Laz--hang in there, u can do it! The last two years I taught I used to sit in those worthless meetings and there was only one older person in the room than me--the burned out hippie guidance dork. I really miss those meetings.......... it did allow me to daydream about my future layout plans :) What a way to start out the year, thank God for beer.

Anyone remember P.O.C. beer. I have an unopened bottle from the 60's.  It was in the last case made....according to the Tavern owner. Pride Of Cleveland.

What kind of Clevelander would I be if I didn't remember it!

Roger - he is in our prayers.

BTW  - work is good, but busy. I may have to take a trip and visit our northern neighbors next week.

We had a local beer here when I was in college. It was brewed by Pearl Brewing and was called Texas Pride. Some of you may recall when Coca Cola started raising their prices back in the early 70's (It may have been due to a sugar shortage) and it got to the point that a six pack of Coke cost $0.99 to $1.10 (previously cost around $0.59 to $0.69). Well - Texas Pride sold for $0.69 a six pack when it was introduced. Obviously it became a staple in our diets.

Everything is relative. At $0.69 a six pack - it was great beer. At $0.79 a six pack, it was pretty darn good. When it hit $1.25 a six pack a couple of years later - it was not so good.

Regards, Roy

Hello All!   Thanks for the welcome back. I sure did miss reading & posting here while away. Mike C- Glad Luke is feeling better. Hope your Mother gets better as well. You have had it rough the last few months here. Hope something nice happens for you soon. Dennis- The old Lackawanna Pier would have been worth seeing. I would not mind going back to New York again to explore some more of the sights that are there. There sure are enough People who live there. Plenty of them had a hard time getting around town in their own vehicles due to the Narrow Streets,Pedestrians, Buses, & Taxi's. You're better off to take a Bus to the Port Authority & just walk around town to see everything. Or stay with a relative or friend who may live in the area. If I had a Digital Camera, I could have taken a ton of interesting photo's there. Even saw some folks walking their Dogs as well. It would have been interesting to take a peek inside some of the old Vaudville theaters still standing there & we were not far from the old Madison Hardware Location either although, we did not walk past the location it was located at.& We were not far from Lionel's original headquarters as it is about Three Blocks Northeast of Ground Zero & some of the Debris from the Towers did fall in front of 24 Murray Street when the attacks happened. Lots of interesting history & sights to see in NY. Hope to go back again someday. Take Care all.

Evening all.  My New England Yankee called excited.  Got a call from his Train Store.  Went and bought a 2056 that looks excellent.  Does not run but real clean inside.  Think a little lube and etc and it will go great.  Got it and some PW cars for a steal. Approve [^]  Ther eis an item being rebuilt that I hope he can corner for me.  Not going his way the 5th.  Have to go some time soon.  I put it on them [PM].  We have to meet before the 20th trip to CA.  Looks like I will be going to WI first week in Oct.  Some time between now [probably starting in Oct.] and the end of Jan., I will be in TX, GA, LA, FL, SC, VA and TN.  Fed the fish at the pond.  Coming out, a nice buck ran across the path and mowed area.  Still in full velvet.  HUMMM.  Got several nice cars today.  Approve [^]  Later.

Finally got on here today - had to mow the lawn as soon as I got home to beat the Coming of the Darkness.  Chuck, I did see your layout schematic, looks great!  Welcome back Keith and praying for friends and family for everybody, may God see you all through these bad times and heal all.

Trainz shipped my new (NIB) cars and somewhere there is a gondola on its way from another seller on ebay.  Deepdiscountdvd is having several big sales, just FYI everybody.  I'll try and update my website this weekend and post some pics on Sunday.  This year I want to copy some of you guys and take pics as construction (such as it is) goes along.  Well, I'm worn out!  TTFN

Good morning everyone!

I had a pretty spectacular day yesterday. I was so wound up from my new post war purchases, that I couldn't sleep. I felt like I had won the lottery. Still awake at 1AM and had to wake up and get to work at 5AM! Still on a high this morning.

I'm looking forward to another visit from the Chief next month. We have a pretty good time when he comes around.

Any one remember Heffenreffer Beer?

Have a great day, all.

I'm closing in on 2000 posts! Where's my stars?!

Good morning all,

It is foggy and humid in SE Indiana with temps hitting the mid to high 80s.  Dougdagrump, I remember hearing about Hudepohl and Wiedemann beer.  My granddads would listen to the Reds ball games on the radio, and they would always advertise Hudepohl, or "Hudie".  Does anyone remember Carling Black Label (Hey, Mabel, Black Label) ?  I think it was brewed near Cleveland as they would sponsor the Browns' games.

I went to check on the progress around the Honda plant last night.  They have moved the utility poles so the rail line can be shifted a little.  If the utility poles are any indication of how close to the road the tracks will be and they do not put up earthbanks to block the view, there may be some prime trainwatching spots available soon.

Lucas had a fairly good day.  Some friends stopped in after school.  He starts home schooling today.  We will see how it goes. My mom did not react well to the first day of treatment.  She was very tired.  I may talk to the doctor today myself to get the straight info.

The boys and girls play again tonight.  The boys are home and the girls are on the road.  For the boys, it is a big game because this could be a sectional preview.  Tmcc man, I hope you get on a good team.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training....in the free world (with apologies to Neil....Young, that is),

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is 60 degrees and sunny, here. Going up to 83 today and a possible chance of thunderstorms later. Ground is dry. I got he rest of the front yard cut last night after supper. Only thing left is the back. Maybe tonite, if it doesn't rain.

So, where is Buckeye ????  Have not heard from him lately.

Today, we are going to shampoo the bathroom carpet. Then, the entire house will be done. Should only take about 2 hours with the shampooer.

I think I will run trains later today. Ran them for an hour yesterday. I am slowly putting the town setup together. I have a lot of time.

Well, off to the Dining Car. Be back later.

Y'all have a great day.

Good morning,

Chuck, As I recall Buckeye made a short post saying he was going to be busy doing the 50th Anniversary video.  I can't seem to find any time to run or work on the trains.  Think I will go back to work, seemed I had more time then.

Well off to the fitness center for now.

Morning all.  Follow me and you will not need a fitness center. Wink [;)]  Really think it would be good for me to go to one.  Most of my work is just tiring and not fitness. 'Morning from a stormy northeastern Illinois where the youngest woke up sick - Chuck, my carpet cleaner is the most valuable thing we got. Gotta go use it after I try to clean up / speed up this Mac. The MySpace mania continues here - I eyeball everyone's site but it seems to take up way too much time: I sense a family meeting coming soon.
- Hope this weather doesn't get too bad out in Indiana, Mike.
- Chief, they're opening a Cabelas in a suburb out here next year - get this - they had it zoned as a museum to save on taxes! Maybe you'll be able to visit.
- Congratulations on your new purchase, Jim! Ran four trains - 2 trolleys, a Santa Fe steam passenger and my 248 with 2 cars - at the same time last evening for a while. I had plenty of train time because the bride had a few girlfriends over - they were still going strong when I finally went to bed near mid-night - a few empty wine bottles in the recycle bin this morn.

My boy woke up sick this morning as well, Doug. I was walking by his room after taking my shower and heard a strange noise. Luckily for him, I poked my head in and checked. He was lying on his back vomiting. I ran him to the bathroom and got him in an upright position. Then I woke up my wife ( a nurse) and told her the situation before heading out. I tossed his sheets in the washer on my way.

Not a pleasant way to start the day. He's sleeping now. Little germ factory.

Reggie, You will enjoy the Chief's company, he is a good guy.

AH, BEER! I used to collect beer cans, still have them in my parent's house.  I have Pearl beer, I think it has a yellowish color can with red writing on it.  Also have Texas Pride, still full of beer.  Haver Rheingold with the Miss Rheingold lady on it, Black Label, Balantine (and Cream Ale),  Here's a few, remember "No Frills Beer"?, white can with BEER on it, that was it.  Then I also have a few cans of "Billy Beer" named after Billy Carter.  I have so many more and don't know what to do with them.  Anybody interested?

I went to one of the anesthesia docs houses yesterday, he built a separate building and had it designed like an old English Pub.  Pretty neat, had my first beer in a long time.  I told him he needed to have some trains on the walls, but he said he did not see any in the pubs in England.

Have a good day folks,

Dennis

Laz--
On my last day when I retired we had a potluck at the hs and of course I shared a few pearls of wisdom. I tolk everyone how much I was going to miss the Blood Born Pathogens speech from the Supt. and nurse on that first inservice day. That about brought the house down, even the business manager smiled and that was RARE!
