Shhh, don't tell the MRR guys that I'm here.  I've got an ancient Marx set running around a 6'X20' platform through a soon to be constructed dept 56 diorama.  My thought is about operating two trains on one loop and how to automate them so that they don't run over each other.  I understand that the Marx set operates at lower voltage than the Lionel which I would be adding later.  I'd start a thread for this question alone if you guys think it will have enough discussion.

Thanks,

Ed

Ed, I am not an expert on conventional 3 rail operation, I use mostly DCS & TMCC, but here are a couple of web sites to check out.

http://www.three-rail.com/3RHOMET.HTM

http://www.z-stuff.net/products.htm

I am sure there are others and of course the resident experts will be here to give you some advice shortly.

Mike, I will be at York Thursday & Friday also.  A few of us from the Coffee Pot got together last time, maybe we can get a few more this time.

Having weird problems trying to post tonight.  Anyway, lost a flatcar on ebay but won a gondola the other day, so it's cool.  Kids first day back at school today so lots of excitment -- they liked their classes and teachers, so all is well, but now winding down after a long day.  My friend Jeff screwed up his back running stereo wires through a crawlspace and masonry walls in his 150 plus year old house, so he'll be off work tomorrow :(  Laz - hope you start feeling better and all the best for Lucas etc.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening from Gettysburg.  Did not check in this AM.  Busy time at work. Had a Principals' meeting today that took up most of the day.  Trying to keep up reading all the posts on this site takes a chunk of my time.  I ran some trains tonight when it cooled off a little more.  Still have to make some corrections to the shelf I built.

Happy B-Day [bday]Happy Belated Birthday to Keith......... Happy B-Day [bday] Hope you had a good one.

LAZ - I hope your heel pain is better and the golf game was better. When do you head back to work?  I haven't received my notice about York yet.  I am thinking about taking off Thursday and Friday.

MikeC - I pray that Lucas is faring better with this round of treatments

Dave - sometimes eBay items from big retail outfits do take longer.  I hope your Docksider shows up soon.

Dave's mention of a static display got me to thinking and I am going to set up a loop of Marx wind-up trains on a little table in my office as a static display.  The trains just won't run right for me and I got them in a bunch of stuff I bought just for the pre-War 248 set.  They were kind of a bonus.

Take care.

Mitch

Good morning.

Roy - I second that motion.  Chief - it would be great if you would venture up above the Mason-Dixon Line to join us. We should meet on Friday afternoon after LAZ gets there,  say at about 3:30???  We better warn Bob Keller and crew.  Maybe they'd save a few CTT buttons for us???

Today is the last day with new teachers before the onslaught next week with all teachers. Lots to do and so little time.  Anyone seen TomS on the forum?  Guess he's busy preparing for the start of another school year too.

Have a great day.

Good morning from Massachusetts. High 70s, low 80s and dry weather expected here today.

Another fine day yesterday but a mixed bag coming towards us this weekend. Had a nice night with the fam last night. We went to the inlaw's for dinner. That's 2 nights in a row that I've eaten way too much.

Here's wishing Lucas a nice day today and a nice weekend!

I hope the Chief gets some free time to do his projects. Sounds like a lot of people want a piece of him.

Dougdagrump, I am ready to serve my country. Where do I enlist?!

Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy, humid and rainy in SE Indiana with temps headed into the 80s.  Yesterday was not a very good day.  Lucas had another bad day.  He is eating some, but all he wants to do is sleep.  He did get to talk to some people at the clinic yesterday.  One guy was 41, married, and going thru the same treatment as Lucas.  They spent some time comparing notes on when they discovered the cancer and how they were reacting to the drugs.  It is so hard sometimes seeing how much he has to endure.  I saw my mom last night as well.  She was awfully tired.  They were giving her some platelets, but that did not seem to be helping.  I may have to face the fact she might not be with us much longer.  I probably should be more upset, but I am just numb right now.  I went to the boys soccer game last night to relax and maybe see them win, but that was a disaster as well.  The final score was a loss, 2-0, but it easily could have been 4-2 the other way.  A couple of the kids got "red carded" (tossed out) for actions I was not clear about what happened, and the officiating was a little suspect, but the kids failed to take advantage of several prime scoring chances.  It was a long day at work and a longer night at home.  I take note of the daily support from all of you and I thank you for it.  One of these days, the situation will get better, and thanks for listening.

Chief, you are really too busy, and Keith, a very belated "Happy Birthday!"  I got the York card yesterday as well.  One of these years I intend to go there, but this year won't be it.  To all those who are returning to the class room "wars" or who have kids/grandkids doing so, I hope you have a good year.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training....in the free world  (with apologies to Neil....Young, that is),

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a cloudy, day of about 60 degrees. Going up to 84 with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Hope not.

Today is Friday. A lot of people are getting ready to go back to school. Good luck to all of you. We are taking a ride to Cambridge later and having a fish fry. It's good and fresh. Once in a while, they have Walleye.

Did a little clean up work on the layout yesterday. I am going to build some shelves under the table to store trains on. Save the walls for pictures.

The county fairs around here are coming up. I would like to go to the Washington county one. In Marietta. It's suppose to be a big fair. But, you have to pay to get in, which is a turn off. Pay to park too.

Off to the Dining car. Be back later.

Y'all have a great day.

Morning all.  Cloudy ?????  Hope Lucas has a better day and weekend.  The New England guy is going to get a "tummie" in his old age.  County Fair in Ohizo is two pigs, one cow, three pumpkins and four jars of jam. Tongue [:P]  Better get moving.  Want to finish the back wall in the walk-in.  Then it is ready to paint.  Have a good one and God bless.

Hi GIZ,

Nice day here today.  To get some rain tomorrow?

Well me and my brother played 9 holes yesterday.  Got a golf cart instead of walking.  Heel felt good no problems, and brother Bells Palsey is doing much better.  You can hardly tell hes had it.  All the GIZ at the golf course knew of someone that has been stricken with this virus.  Anyway I won shot some nice golf and both of us had some fun.  First time we played since my college football golf tournament a few weeks ago.  Felt good to get the club back in my hands.

MITCH, we have inservice on next Thursday and Friday then get the kidos on Monday for 4 days then Labor day recess.  5 more years for me then I'll be done.  Its seems to get harder every year going back.  I'll be 55 when I retire, I hope?

CHUCK,  WOA WALLEYE!!!! wummy,  wish I was there with you.   I haven't had that since my last Canada fishing trip.

   All have a good one.

Greetings from a grey and humid Chicago. Our county fair is held the first week of August: I heard there was still a fair amount of ag featured for such a suburbanizing area. The daughter's first day of sophomore year is Monday so 'natch today is the day she wants my bride to run around to get supplies and clothes for school. The middle boy is getting baptized in Crystal Lake on Sunday -wanted to recognize it somehow - wonder if he would like a Chicago Yellow Book subway set...

Chief, I was wonder how the planning is coming along.  The word is that you are hosting a big barbeque to celebrate the 1000th page.  Since we are on page 980 the big event will soon be here! Wink [;)]

Schools start here on the 28th.  Can't start before that since they share a lot of facilities with the Fair which runs from the 21st to the 26th.  Grandsons will be showing steers, lambs, hogs & goats.  Even though the area is becoming more built up the fair is still growing.  Was told that there will be over 600 animals shown this year.  We don't have a County Fair in Lancaster County.  Many towns have fairs.  There are seven of them in the County running from August 21 to October 13.

Chuck, My son is in Ohio now attending a tractor pull in Bowling Green, not sure where that is in relation to you.

Have to do some electrical trouble shooting today, my automatic route power system quit functioning last evening when I ran the trains.

John.....Bowling Green is about 215 miles from us. It's south of Toledo in the western side of the State. Nice area.

Chief.....Also, we have Italian sausage sandwiches and french fries at our County Fairs.

Just ordered the Ruby kit, pressure gauge, 4 flat cars, 120 feet of brass code 332 track, railbender, 2 10'-radius turnouts, and they threw in some free oil.

The guy I spoke with convinced me 332 will look good, btw.

Afternoon everyone.  Hope y'all are having a great day and start of the weekend.  My bride is under the weather so I will be playing Mr. Mom and not doing too much with the trains or the computer this weekend.  Got my two Beeps from UPS the other day.  One particular driver likes to leave packages at the garage door next to the trash can.  Of course the rain makes the boxes wet.  You would think that they would use common sense and put it by the front door on the covered poarch.  Anyway, I get far too many packages (according to my wife) and I think it is only one guy that has this problem.  I did call the UPS customer service and they are taking care of it.  I have found them to be pretty good to deal with.

Anyway, have a good weekend.  Can hardly wait till Sunday Photo Fun.

Dennis,

Our mail man is like that.  I won a 3656 cattle car on ebay, and instead of bringing the package up to the front door, he left it on top of the local paper box that is right next to the mailbox.  Someone could have taken the package very easily, and I wouldn't known what happened.

Mitch,

Sounds like a plan. I'm really looking forward to the office 3-rail layout. I'd have another one now if it weren't for the fact that we're moving. My coworkers love the 3rail trains and don't have issues with non-prototypicalness. They think it's cool.
