John; hope that mask helps !!

Roy: that site is really neat ! been trying to read it all, & it was made with the Hemi ! That reminds me of the little sirens they made for bicycles when I was a kid in the 50s. They rubbed against the tire like the light generators, & you would pull on a string to make it rub the tire & blow !! I put mine on a Whizzer motorbike !!! Boy, that was fun, wish I still had it !!

Where's Colin ? !!

Thanks, John

Hi Gang, Had a few minutes to check on Sunday Photo Fun , as always great pics.   Yes still alive and kicking here in the great Northwest.

Not much training this time of year, the train room gets a little hot in the afternoon.  However the new train room will be in the basement of the new house.

This is my first entry on the new format, and so far everything looks ok.

Talked with The Chief a couple weeks ago and got caught up on all the news. Always good to chat with him.  Will try and drop in more often..........Tim

Hey Tim! Great to hear from you. Good to hear all is going well on the new house. So are you moving a smaller spread than the mountaintop you lived on?

Woo Hoo! 105 today - and will only be 104 tomorrow! I'll need a sweater (or is that sweat - er?)!

Hello everyone,

Pigseyes, nice to see you drop in. I like your avatar pic. Well, I did an amazing job in manhunt tonight, a record of four freedom's by me. The didn't even see me until I rang the bell. Great game tonight, and we had played World Cup before, and I did pretty good in that too. Talk to you guys tomorrow.

Hey, Tim was here. Big Smile [:D]  He's up there in those hills.  Fun to talk too.  Think he is still a Texican. Wink [;)]  Speaking of Texicans, glad Roy is surviving the heat.  We are now predicted to go to 101 with humidity of 70%+.  Melt down.  Off to bed.  Went to sleep in the recliner.  Full tummy.  I cooked pancakes and sausage for dinner.  Wife suddenly wanted some too.  Boys also joined in [a pancake each]  and a bite of sausage. [spoiled]  Dennis, I'll chat with you later.  Was going to see if you and Kim wanted to ride up to Lexington VA.  Think the wife will now board the boys at new kennel.  Sleep tight all.

Good Morning,
72°, very humid, and windy this  morning.  Going up to 84°, not too bad.  Of course the humidity is 84% too, so that's not all that great.

Gonna have to cut the lawn in a few days.  it has not been cut since the 4th because of our lack of rain.

Have a good one all.  Big Smile [:D]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill........

It is sunny and 72 degrees. Going up tp 95 degrees today.  HOT.

I'm glad I cut the grass Sat. and Sun.  It's a good day to stay inside and run trains. Have a few things to do, inside. But, I will get some train time in.

It sounds like everyone is having a nice summer. I know that I am. Especially after the first 4 months of the year. Getting better every day. That is the good part. I'm feeling pretty good. Thanks for all of your support.

Well, I am going to have breakfast and go outside and walk with the "boys ", before it gets too hot. Talk more later.

Y'all have a great day.

HI GIZ,

  HOT AND humid TODAY.

ROYs  PUMPING UP THAT TEXASS  HEAT TO US TODAY GOING TO BE NEAR 100?

Got my 6 miles in and lifted already.

Got 3 of my tracks down on layout and they are all wired with paired 16 gauge stranded wire.  Today going to wire the last one.  Ran trains on Saturday nite to see how they ran and all ran GREAT.  Now to figure out where to put all this stuff.  Will try and take pics and post later?

All have a good one.

STAY COOL.

Good morning everyone,

Very hot today, supposed to reach 100 North of Philly today. I moved the lawn on Saturday, so I don't have to worry about any yard work today. Hope everyone has a good day, stay cool and don't over work yourself.

Can't believe how dumb I am. I kept getting all sorts of error messages trying to get into the forum from home over the weekend and it just occured to me - I have the wrong bookmark on the Mac. Ah well. Missed you all. Hot here too. Cool in the basement over the weekend. Couldn't scare up a friend or family member to go to the Railway Museum with me - so I napped instead and watched the race in NH. Enjoyed directing the kids to cut the grass.  I also decided I "need" one of those MTH PCCs - have to start looking for one. Does anyone have one?

Daniels, a  belated welcome to you! Where again is Green Valley, IL?
Don, I didn't know you grew up in Rockford - still a nice town just west of me.

I was musing over the layout about putting in a transfer table. Anyone have one?

Good morning,

Laz, You need to teach the Chief how to build a layout in a hurry.  That was fast.  How about some progress pictures.

I still can't get used to not being able to see the previous posts.  Can't remember anything else.

Keep cool,

When the weather is real nice, where do you find me?  In the office!

When the weather is unbearable hot or cold, where do you find me?  In the field working!

Somehow I need to get this mess straighten out.  Here is is the middle of  July and I am going to head out to the field to supervise the surveying of four railroad bridges in Southern Ohio.  The copperheads are out, the mosquitoes are thick and the temperature is heading to the 100's.  Banged Head [banghead]

Glad to see the old faces slowly finding their way to the coffee pot.  I would really miss you guys.

Daniels - We bought the Polar Express in January on a slight sale - about $20 off.  It is a nice trainset.  I need to clean some pickups so the lights in the cars work a little smoother.  Also got the 2 expansion cars at that time.  Will probably get the new expansion car and the handcar this year.  It's a nice set and the kids loved it.

Babysitter is in Branson this week until Wednesday.  I took off today and tomorrow.  Have to fix their computer for their boy - needs some ram and update to Windows 98 -- it's an OLD computer they got second or third hand.

Went and saw Nacho Libre with my son last night - pretty good if you ever watched any of those old Mexican wrestling movies in the late 60's and early 70's with Santo and the Blue Demon etc.  Might offend some, since he's chasing after a novice (almost a nun) and he's some kind of friar at the beginning of the movie - he was an orphan, they put him to work in the kitchen, and he's just sort of in the job, he's not actually a priest or anything, at least that's the way I understood it.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hi guys,

It is warm here too.  It almost feels like I'm living in the South!  I just can't find any sweet tea.

I spent part of the weekend priming my mom's porch after scraping it down.  I will have to paint it evenings this week.  Painting is not that much fun when it is this warm.

I am looking forward to next weekend when some of the kids will be home to attend a wedding.  With them all living out of town it is great when they get back this way.  I still find it strange to have them all living someplace else.

Well, I should get back to work.  Have a good day everyone.

Obviously, a layout is never finished but I think I'm far enough along to do an article for CTT. I just emailed them my proposal.

Good Afternoon,

Well, I decided to do the lawn mowing today rather than wait.  The wife said that it was looking a little ragged after that rain we had yesterday.  Sometimes I guess that we need a little motivation.  Any ways I am glad that it is all done.  The wife is gone to play bridge with the ladies.  Guess I will go play with trains. Later. Big Smile [:D]

David - That is fantastic news!! Yeah!! [yeah]  I sure hope they pick it up and do the article !!!!

Doug - Yea, my roots are still there.  If I could have I would have enjoyed visiting the museum there, it is one of the best in the nation.  What I miss most is the corn boils, where grass grows, wild, and the people.  Quality of life is pretty good too.

Take care all     --

Hello everyone,

I just looked at the thermometer that I had in the shade, and it read 102, and I just put it in direct sunlight, and I am going to see what it is now. In the sunlight it is about 107 right now. I was going to go for a run, but I am going to wait for a while until this heat wave passes. I might run on the beach though. Talk to you guys later,

Afternoon all.  HOT here.  Did not trim shrubs.  Wife dug up larapy [however you spell it] and I carried it to the pond.  put it on the edge of one bank and mashed it into the mud.  Will help stablize that bank.  Then I weedeated to yard and neighbors'.  Came back and did the middles of the garden and vacant spots where the squash ahd died from heat.  Then sprayed it with Roundup.  Will put trimmings shreded tomorrow [from trimming shrubs] down middles.  Keeps grass down and holds moisture.  Did that last year ans worked great.  Wife wants to get up at 6 AM tomorrow to trim shrubs. Shock [:O]  Now we are going tho Home Depot for moldings she wants me to put around stairs and else where. Sad [:(]  Think she needs to go back to work. Wink [;)]  Drinking plenty of sweet ice tea.  Glad the Yanks are getting my special present.  HEAT!!!!  Buckey, its not the snakes nor the mosquitos.  Its the ticks.  I am alergic to them.  I've even had Lymes.  Not fun.  All my joints swelled up and could not walk, use arms and hands and jaws locked up.  Jaws was the bad part.  Could not eat.  Later

Good Afternoon everyone.

It is a bit warm in these parts, but looks like the rest of the country is trying to catch up.  My neighbor (the one that owns Georgia Southwestern RR) told me they are having lots of trouble with the affects of the heat on the rails.  I have not heard of actual derailments, as they share plenty of trackage with NS, but I am sure they have had some issues.

David,

Glad you are not in Israel now.  It is a shame that they have to be on constant defense.  I hope they can get the bad guys and return to peace soon.

Hope y'all have a good day.

Dennis

Doug,  That is one beautiful diesel.  To bad it is not an Eastern road.Sad [:(]

Dennis,  In years past CSX has had a lot of problems with heat expanding the welded rail and causing derailments.  Haven't heard anything this season.  Maybe they found a cure, or else just not in the news as it had been.  They used to cause Amtrak a lot of grief with low speed limits in some areas due to this.

Colin, I like your new theme.  Can't go wrong with the PRR.Smile [:)]

David, I hope they do it.  Sure would be something new and different.  Could make BB a celebrity.

Keeping cool here.

CHIEF you had LIME disease,

Does that mean that you had the urge to drink Lemon Lime soda in mass quantities, maybe lots of 7 up?

Busy! Traveling a good bit - I've been to Wisconsin, Louisiana and Arizona on mission trips and vacations over the past few weeks. It's been a busy summer with the church and various activities as well. Thought I'd pop in and say hi!

This new format is going to take some getting used to! Confused [%-)]
