Evening all!

Another hot one here today. Don't know the final but it was over 100. Don - I see you are getting the same treatment theree in sunny CA!

John - I'll bet your neighbors hope you do not get a bigger compressor!

Good to see Ironhoarse back for the summer!

Mitch - my wife started to get interested with the new frontloading units, low water consumption, etc., until we stayed at a friend of ours on vacation and they take nearly twice as long to do the wash. She lost that idea quickly!

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Karen has started to measure what something costs in Atlas cars.  More than once she has said "for that much money we could get x Atlas cars."  GOTA love her.

Tomorrow our new front door is scheduled to be installed.  Paid a little over half of the cost when the door was ordered.  Have to write another big check when they finish.  I could buy a whole fleet of Atlas cars and engines for what this is costing.  Forecast is 95 degrees and will have to turn AC off while we have a big hole in wall.

The way the coffee pot is growing it won't be long until it hits 1000 pages.  My guess is July 30 will be the big day.  What is the prize if I win?  LOL

Good Morning from Blueberryhill......

It's gonna be a hot one today. Up to 94 degrees and sunny.

I have to cut the front grass today. I may wait until tonite when it is a lot cooler. No shade in the front until 8 pm.    This afternoon, during the hot time,  I will run some trains. I did that yesterday and it was nice.

Good morning, John.  You are up early , today.

Looking forward to Sunday Photos.

Y'all have a great day.

Good Morning,

68° and raining here in N. Michigan.  Boy do we ever need that rain too.  We have had a half an inch over the past 24 hours, but could use about two or three inches.  The yard is still brown even with this rain.  It is supposed to hit 90° today.  It has not been that hot around here since 1999.  Of course out west where we spend the winter it was 116° yesterday.  Not sure if I should buy an AC or another locomotive. ...think I'll go with the loco.  Big Smile [:D]

The pictures of the museum are really awesome!!!  I went through the slideshow, I still can't believe the level of completion given the amount of time.  You guys have really done great.  What is the superstructure in the middle going to be, looks like it is framed by 2x4's?  The whole thing looks really well planned.

Roy - I don't know it sure gets hot here, but at least we don't have all the humidity,  but everyday days a blessing so no real reason to complain.

Daniels - Don't be frustrated you have the right approach, I once knew a guy who referred to that condition as I-want-its, the anticiapation of a acquistion is half the excitment.  I try to always get something I don't have (engine type).  It would be very boring if we did not have any desires or looking forward to having that "really cool" engine.  One or our desires is the J series, and from your list looks like you got a pretty good inventory.  (By the way I was born and raised in Rockford)

Have a great day, ALL !!

CMRJ,  an interesting side note to the HOBO set is that the hudson is apparently one of the products from the "Stolen" papers from MTH in the lawsuit.  I have it and have enjoyed it, I am sure you will too.

John, my dad lives in NJ, but has a bit of "Redneck" in him in that he has a FORD F250 that he mounted a set of airhorns of a GP 40 with the compressor under the back seat.  Boy will that move some traffic! (I think it causes a few soiled clothes too).

Time to get back to the layout program.

Dennis : yes, I saw one web site somewhere that showed all these guys getting together with their different air horns & whistles & it showed the compressors in their trucks & all. Though these things sure could hurt someones hearing if they are not careful. what's interesting is the different chambers built into them for their different tones & even someting I saw about tuning them. The really neat ones are the whistles from the old steam engines ! Those are really the valuable ones.  I have a retired friend here that has several old whistles & he used to come back down to the old diesel shop here & blow them & a lot of people would come down to the mainline thinking a steam engine was in town !

Thanks, John

Good afternnon everyone.

I think it's hot everywhere this weekend, today being worse than yesterday it seems.  Cut up all the framing I took out of the basement this morning and hauled it to the burn pile, started to burn it (big mistake) now I have to watch it and it's close to 100 todayDisapprove [V] Should have waited until Oct. and have a bonfire.

BTW, how do you tell the difference between field corn and sweet corn?  My backyard butts up against farmes field.  The cropduster is out couple time a week now spraying it.  Pretty neat to watch.

Thanks,

Dan

Hot in Arnold, about 100 now - it was 92 when I started mowing at about 10:30.  I took several long breaks to cool down.  I had sunstroke as a kid and I have to be careful.  The women are going to a local school version of Cats tonight.  Still trying to decide whether to take down the lego stuff for a while.  My wife is all for it, but I'm afraid she won't let me put it back up later!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Evening,
Well it did not get all that hot today.  It was cloudy and rainy most of the day so that kept the heat down.  It only got up to 76 today.  Of course tomorrow is supposed to be a different story.

John,

Yeah, those old steam whistles can get the crowds out.  I remember several times in the 70's that the "Freedom Train" would come by the mainline down the street from my parents house, certainly had me running.  I miss those days.

Chief,

Missed your call, was at evening church.  I am sure I will post this in September, but our church has put together a movie that will be released by Sony in the theaters.  It is called "Facing The Giants", so if you are interested, keep an eye out for it.  Should be around the end of September.  Anyway, that is one of the things that were discussed tonight, besides the message.

Take care and God Bless,

Dennis

Wow, was I getting them, too !! That was a dumb thing to do, but I think I countered it !!

Another hot one here today! Nothing but 100+ in our forecast. See that all you guys are also getting the triple digit weather - next thing you know you will be watering your foundations like we do here in Texass.

John - did you ever hear of the guys that collect old civil defense sirens? Now those things make some noise. There is a coveted collector piece that is powered by a HEMI!

http://www.victorysiren.com/x/main.htm

My dad had a '56 Chrysler Imperial that was powered by the same motor. Talk about some "get up and go" to push 5000lbs of iron down the road. Had the dash mounted push-button automatic tranny.

Tom - great photos today! I will be traveling to CO in about a week - hope to go to the CO RR Museum in Golden. Will take some photos. The Rio Grande F3 there is a beaut! They also have a nice collection of speeders.

cmrj - Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the 'pot. Hang out a while!

I know I missed some things since I cannot see all the posts up to this one.

Have a great evening all!

Good evening everyone,

Hot & humid here just like the rest of the country. Didn’t do a whole lot, been fighting an allergy attack, bad cough and congestion. I think I spent to much time in the wood shop, which is also the cat’s home. Have to start wearing a dust mask I guess.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
