Sad to hear. There aren't many stars from Hollywood's golden age who are still with us. Thankfully, their films will live on forever long after they're gone.

Dave the smileys are still there, just in a pull down menu

Doug, I was number 4, which is really hard to believe.
I have been in the field today looking at an old wooden trestle bridge that they want to replace on the old Detroit, Toledo and Ironton line through Ohio. Timbers were cracked and it looked like the existing bridge had moved.

Well Chief, Not only are we building the large “O” gauge layout, we are still working on the ‘O’ gauge tin plate layout. We have added ½ “ foam under the track and added ballast. We are now in the process of adding the grass.
Plus we have added a Lego layout and ‘S’ gauge tin plate layout (American Flyer)
and a small ‘G’ gauge layout on the floor.
And the Interurban group has also joined us
They will be building an Interurban layout based on 1925 modeling a local line in ‘O’ gauge. I can’t wait for helping on that.
And we had Thomas the Tank layout join us
and not to mention the work continues on the HO and N scale layouts.
They have added the park and all the ride are animated.
Real big T-stroms coming so we have to pull the plug.
Hi Chief,
I work at CAT, you may have seen a diesel generator. Used for anything from facility power connected to UPS's or any type of industrial setting - usually petroleum where pumping is needed - up to 10,000HP.
But, they do put them in loco's too. Cat just bought Progress Rail who does alot of remanufactured locomotive and railcar products as well as railroad services. I wish I could find a way to weasle my way into that business for CAT and out of Information Technology.
Can you guys stand another jabber jaw? I've been lurking around for awhile and just getting back into the hobby. Looks like a great group of guys!
Thanks,
Dan
Good Evening Everyone !! Been trying to log on for an hour now, & it locked my computer up two times !! I scanned & defragged & all, finally got on !!
Daniells : We get all our wheels that we change on freight cars from Progressive Rail. They are swamped with orders & a truck drive that brought the last load said these were from a foreighn country, cause they can't keep up. He said the BNSF, is getting about 2 thousand wheels a month ! We used to get them by rail cars, but there isn't enough, so trucks deliver them now.
Well, forgot what every one said now, so hope everyone has a nice weekend !
Oh, the museum layout is really shaping up now, Tom !! Will try to hook up with you guys tomorrow, but have several things I have to do .
Thanks, John
DAN Glad to have another gabber like me. Thanks for the info on the big engine. Please gab all you want.
Tom, I knew yuz giz were doing a good job. Great photos. Now you need another private layout to build. At the rate I'm going, I need to hire you. Since I'm home from now until middle of Sept, thought I would really get things going next week. Now the wife is wanting to leave tomorrow afternoon [after her play at the NC Theatre] for Lexington VA. Not to come back until Tuesday evening. She doesn't understand I am tired of traveling. Well, at least I am not flying US Airways. I will be flying Nissan. Have not found any train stores in Lexington. Lots of Rebel "stuff" there. All she will do is lay out by the pool. We will ride into the mountains in the evenings. That part I love. Got a County meeting Wed afternoon and then all day Thursday. Well, maybe the next week.
Welcome DAN the CAT MAN!
Tom the layouts look great. I should be up that way for work in the next two months and would like to see the progress.
Has anyone been able to get the highlight feature to work when posting?

Buckeye,
We are thinking about doing the Columbus garden railway tour in September. Are you involved with this event?
Greg,
No I'm not, but you are welcome to see my Garden RR anytime. There are some impressive layouts on the fall tour.
Thank You. Some time when we are visiting family in the Columbus/Delaware areawe will arrange a visit.
Good Evening Everyone.............Welcome to the Forum, Dan. Glad you could join us.

Especially the guys from NC and all points South.

I am on their e-mailing list. It was great. I also went on their Polar
Express last December with the grand daughter. Nice. They have a
webpage.

I went to Shutterfly and hit " copy ". Came back here and hit " paste".
SHHHH, wife's asleep. You all are being too nosiey. Keith, forgot to tell you. On the way to and from Miss Edna's, I saw a Corvair Monza Convertible. Early model [64]. Pretty. Well, jsut ran trains for an hour. Man that GP30 Lionel [this year's model] will smoke [got a fan and a half] and that Railsounds 5.0 is something. One my my Atlas engines [the first one I ever bought, GP35] would not smoke very well. Suddenly tonight, she went to work. Off to Lexington VA tomorrow afternoon. Will probably stop in Roanoke for the night and then go to Lexingto early Sunday. Roanoke is the place to see lots of NS trains.
Dennis, you and Kim should come up and see the Winston Link Museum and VA Transportation Museum. Then get a lesson in Rebel history in Lexington.
Later
Mitch,
Don't copy the code, copy the photo. You don't need to use the properties function anymore. Just put the cursor on the photo you want to copy, right click, click copy and then paste it directly into a reply. Try copying and pasting one of the photos that has already been posted here, like Chuck's station photo below.
Don
Thanks guys for the warm welcome! Looks like alot of people from the the north - except Chief
It sure does feel like the south up here now, hot and humid. Just got in from mowing the lawn and it's nice to have a pool to jump in! John, that's pretty amazing the number of wheels BNSF is going through - and the rail business can't service the need. So you work for the railroad? How long have you done it? I think it would be awesome, better than my desk job!
Chief - I have never been to North Carolina. Looks like some hilly/mountainous based on the pond pics? I know CAT has Business Construction Products in Clayton and Carry and Sanford I believe.
Well, ya'll have a good night and again - thanks for the welcome!
Haven't seen all the news yet, but it was supposed to be 102 today. Sure felt like it.
Daniels - Good to have you on board.
I cannot remember everyone's posts either, so hard to respond to posts when they are a page or two back unless you open up two IE windows of the 'Pot.
Have a great evening all.
Buckeye - select the text in your post while editing it and then chose the highlight color you want. OOPS - well the highlighting works in the edit and preview modes - but not when you post.
Regards, Roy
Just for fun, I tried this old trick. Right clicked on the Reply button and selected "Open Link in New Window." Then you can use the ALT & TAB key combination (press them both at the same time) to switch between the reply window and the coffee pot thread. Makes it easy to review other posts and reply to them or even quote sections etc.
I am on their e-mailing list. It was great. I also went on their Polar Express last December with the grand daughter. Nice. They have a webpage
webpage
Did the quote manually. Really need a quote icon on the reply page.
Used the "Create Link" icon to make this link to http://www.dennisondepot.org/ . This needs to be improved also. Should be able to name the link so that all the url info is behind the scenes.
Enough for one post.
Interesting. When I clicked on "POST" the reply window changed into a display of my post. Also, the original thread did not show the post until I hit refresh. Well, maybe it was there as my post was at top of next page. I then clicked on the reply button on my "new window" thread which changed it to a reply window. I am using it to type this reply. Wonder if it will show immediately or will have to refresh again.
When I hit post, both posts displayed on "new window" page but not on original until I clicked on refresh. Added this with edit function.
Last post for this morning. lol
Tom,
Will there be any construction going on at the museum this coming week? If yes, what days and times? May be able to lend a hand for a few hours.
Wierd, this reply appears double spaced as I am typing it. Wonder what it will display like?
Edited post to remove extra blank space.
Good Morning All from NE Ohio
where the temp is 70 deg with dew point at 68 deg and headed to 90 deg today with overcast skies
Buckeye - always looking foward seeing you.
Chief - for the right price, we could help you.
Don - yep we have taken alot of pics. Some of them have been uploaded to their web page.
Greg - I will check with Doug today on our field trip.
Good Morning Everyone !! Last night my computer kept locking up each time I tried to login. Finally got it, but now, after I post something, it seems I can't get back to the forum unless I close it out & bring it back up again. I wonder what I'm doing wrong ? Well, tomorrow should be a good day for Sunday Photo Fun !! Nice not having to use that img !! Well, off on travel errands, hope to catch up with the OTTS boys at the Conneaut museum today if I can.
