Hello everyone,

I just realized that I had to renew my account when I tried to log on to the forum. I am going to have to get used to this way of posting now. Anyways, I have been down the shore for a while. By the way, there is a new girl in my life, her name is Bridget. We haven't started "going out" yet, but she will be sleeping over for my sister's BDay party. If I can find a pic of her, I will show you guys. Well, I am going back down the shore next Wednesday, and will have to return the 28th for the party. I will talk to you guys later.

Chief, here are a few pix for you. This is my neighbor's boat down the shore.

Here is some info. It is a 38ft Topaz, 2 Cat Marine Diesel engines, 420hp each, 400 gallon diesel fuel capacity. I took a trip with him when he went to re-fuel it. It was a lot of fun, and we were going at a decent speed. He spent $600 when we went to fuel her up. Great boat, cabin is very roomy. I will get some pix of the interior when I go back down next week. By the way, its name is Reelentless.

Here is a pic of Bridget, and the other girl that I liked, but not anymore. Here name is Grace.

Bridget is the last one on the left in the light blue dress with the design on it, and Grace is the last one on the right in the dark blue dress. They are both coming to my sister's sleep over.

LAZ - nice progress on the layout.  It appears that your layout is going to be twice as big as the old one.

Still figuring out the forum software.  I have been really busy with work and famiy stuff so I have not done much in the layout room on the shelf or with the restoration of the 248.  I did get the shell painted.  I was able to add some photos, but it's sure inconvenient without a button for image tags.

Here's a photo of the paint oven my Dad built for me/

Here's the shell of the 248 after stripping, and "soda" blasting and painting.  Not too bad for a first time restorer.

My browser is not cut & paste for photos.

Take care.

Good evening all.

I have to admit, I have really been having fun with my first every scenery project.  Well there was that time when I tried to build a N scale mountain – a total failure that was.Sad [:(]

I decided to build small hill on the far side of a curve on the corner of the layout.  On the top of the hill I am putting a Lionel water tower with the bubbling tube and blinking light.  I was getting a bit frustrated with the plastering and sanding and spackling and sanding, etc, etc,  etc.  The process seemed to drag on forever.  I finally got it smooth enough where I threw some brown latex paint on it.  This evening I was finally able to start putting some of the ground up colored foam from Woodland Scenics on it.  I was really happy with the outcome and will be posting some pictures in a few days on the main forum once I get it in place on the layout.

Since I am loosely modeling the ACL, I decided I needed orange trees for a very small grove.  My local hobby shop had a few HO elm trees on sale - $5 for a package of three.  I scooped up two packages and stopped at Michaels (with the wife of course!) and bought some little orange beads.  I super glued them into the elm tree and I had instant orange trees!  Here are a couple of before / after pictures:

An orange tree masking as an elm:

The tree's true identity is now revealed:

Glad to see everyone is pretty much back up and running.

Just a quick stop at the Pot before bed time.  I have been reading up on everyones posts, but most seem to be folks having problems with posting.  I think it will take most of us a bit of getting used to.

Colin, wasn't Bridget the girl you had a photo of from a formal party several months ago?  She is a pretty girl and I wish you well.  Treat her with respect and if it is ment to happen it will.

Chief, glad to see you survived another trip into hostile territory.  Hope the Cracker Barrel had sweet tea and grits!  We are going to Valdosta GA this weekend, Steven Curtis Chapman, a contemporary christian musician is performing there.  He is an advocate for adoption and has several girls from China.  We hope to catch up with him.  I hope to get some train time in this weekend as well.

Take care and good night,

Dennis

Chief - I am sure one of  those e-mails was from me. Oops [oops]  It seems that every time someone deletes a post to a thread,  the originator of the thread is notified via e-mail.  I deleted a post because it was irrelevant once I figured out that you have to reply to someone's message to add  a message to the thread.  Sounds like a Yankee plot to swamp your e-mail with notices.

Dennis, no she was not the one from several moths ago. That was Gab, and she hasn't really had a great way with her friends lately. Bridget is one of my sister's friends, and thanks for the good wishes, because I think I will ask her to go to the movies after I get back from the shore.

The heck with it, I will tell you the whole story:

I told my sister that I had an interest in Bridget, and she called Bridget and told her. I was helping her dad out at the Carnival my grade school has every year, and she happened to come over. My sister had told Bridget I was going to be there. So she stopped over, and my sister came with me. So, I had very little time to talk with her during the time I was working. Towards the very end, I did get to sit and talk. When her dad and I were talking about his car shop, she told me about what her dad usually does with her crushes, he interrogates them. She got scared when we were talking, thinking that her dad was asking me things. She also told me that when she walked by him, he pulled her over on the side to talk to her. He said, "I see why you are here now", and she asked him "What do you mean?". Her dad then said, "I know you didn't straighten your hair for Chloe(my sister)." She got red, and said "I need to go help someone right now dad" and her dad started to laugh. That was the story she told me, and then she came out with "Colin, I like you." I was shocked and suprised to hear that. My sister then told me in the car on the way home "I told you she likes you." She had found out earlier that Bridget likes me when they were walking around talking about me. I couldn't believe that Bridget told me that, right to my face.

Good Night everyone,

    Colin.

PS: Chief, do you like those boat pix???????

Busy day to day. Hot. 100+.

LAZ - great benchwork and looks like a great layout in planing there!

For all you naysayers - Chief has benchwork - it just looks like floor joists and flooring! Evil [}:)]

Chuck - great pic of you and the Chief! You look like you are feeling pretty good!

Have a great evening all!
