Afternoon Dr. John.  Us REBS are tough and can take it. Big Smile [:D]

We all know that Jim Apitz has taken his family to the lake in NH.   Well, Jim is on the way back home to check everything and go to the office for a few before going back.  He has really let himself go since he has been "up in woods".  Here is a picture of Jim and his favorite fishing boat.

Jim, I warned you on the phone a few minutes ago, you are in for it. Tongue [:P]

Later.

Good afternoon all,

It is sunny and hot in SE Indiana with temps and humidity in the 90s.  I have not been posting the last few days for a couple of reasons.  One is that when I renewed my sign-on, I changed my password slightly and I had to call customer service to get straightened out.   They were very helpful and it is obvious I am posting again.

The second reason is much, much more serious.  To make a very long story short, my son Lucas has been diagnosed with testicular cancer.  It has spread to his abdomen.  We see a cancer specialist Wednesday at IU Med Center.  As soon as surgery is scheduled, I will let you all know.  He seems to be doing ok, but my wife and I have cried a thousand tears.  Will you please put Lucas Connor on all your prayer lists?  That is what we need right now more than ever.  This "coffeepot" has always responded in the past, and I hope you do so this time.  Thank you all.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mike, sent our Church secretary a copy the second part of your post.  She will add you to our prayer list.  Also sent it to Dr. John so he would have a "heads up".  I think he is our only Preacher that posts the Coffee Pot [and maybe CTT forum].  Guess that makes him our Chaplin.  Keep us posted.

The IU Medical Center in Indianapolis should be able to take real good care of him.

Roger B, could not resist posting these:

You know you are from Ohizo when:

1. You let your 14-year-old daughter smoke at the dinner table in front of her kids.

2. The Blue Book value of your truck goes up and down depending on
how much gas is in it

3. You've been married three times and still have the same in-laws.

4. You think a woman who is "out of your league" bowls on a different  night.

5. You wonder how service stations keep their rest-rooms so clean.

6. Someone in your family died right after saying, "Hey, guys, watch
    this."

7. You think Dom Perignon is a Mafia leader.

8. Your wife's hairdo was once ruined by a ceiling fan.

9. Your junior prom offered day care.

10. You think the last words of the "Star-Spangled Banner" are
       "Gentlemen, start your engines."

11. You lit a match in the bathroom and your house exploded right off its wheels.

12. The Halloween Pumpkin on your porch has more teeth than your
       spouse.

13. You have to go outside to get something from the fridge.

14. One of your kids was born on a pool table.

15. You need one more hole punched in your card to get a freebie at the  House of Tattoos.

16. You can't get married to your sweetheart because there's a law
      against it.

17. You think loading the dishwasher means getting your wife drunk.

Which means that the Chiefie has it wrong again!  That list is for the Hoosier State not beautiful OHIO.  We don't say "Gentlemen start your engines".    I guess that shows you that a Suthern education lacks basic geography.

To all,

Thank you for your kind responses and most importantly for all the prayers.  This is and will be an incredibly difficult time.  My thoughts are with Gil Finn on the loss of his mom.

On a lighter note, I must differ with Buckeye about "Gentlemen, start your engines" being a Hoosier phrase.  For the past few years at the Indy 500, the phrase has been "Lady and Gentlemen, start your engines!"

Thank you again everybody for your thoughts.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hello everyone,

Mike C, I am very sorry to hear that about your son, and at such a young age. It is just too unfortunate, and I am very sorry. He will be on my prayer list. I am also sorry for Gil Finn's loss as well. I don't know what I would do if I lost my mom.

On a lighter note, I leave for the shore tomorrow, and there might be some fishing thrown in.

Hey Laz, Jefelectric, and MitchelR, did you guys get a bad storm at about 7:45? We had it really bad here, very high winds, and we had 2 big branches smack our addition at about 8:30. Our neighborhood is right in front of an older neighborhood, and they get their internet, telephone service, etc from poles, and right behind our house, a branch smacked one of the wires, and needless to say, there were plenty of sparks flying. All of our electrical, telephone, internet, etc is all underground.

Good night everyone, talk to you guys tomorrow morning,

Colin

Oh yeah Colin it stormed here off and on all evening.  We could mostly hear it in the distance, but it did rain and we saw some lightning.  At least it did cool things off a little.

I hope it stays cooler because I need to cut some grass, but I am not going to go out and cut grass in the heat and stroke out.   The uncle who I inherited some of my post-war trains from died from a combination of heat stroke and heart attack brought on by own his pigheadedness,  insisting that he needed to cut his grass out in the middle of an August day with temps and humidity in the high 90's.

Cooler weather will also let me do some work on the layout.

Well I better get to work.

Mitch

Hi guys,

I'm back from the lake for 2 days to pick up the mail, mow the lawn, have Marylin Monroe over for champagne, and most importantly, sit in my AIR CONDITIONED office! Man, has it been hot! I used to think the sweet iced tea and grits made all you Southerners a little slow on the up take, but now I think it's the heat y'all have to put up with. Makes a body behave strangely . . . Especially those from Nawth Carolina.

I bought some great postwar freight cars up in NH, and took the kids to see Thomas on Sunday. We had a blast. So much to do, including speeder car rides and a tour of an S-4 switcher. I couldn't get the kids out of the cab!

Can't wait to get back to the lake and my new deluxe fishing boat. You may have seen the photo Chiefie posted.

Be cool everyone!

Morning all.  Wife needs to go back to work.  This getting up before 9 AM is not for me.Shock [:O]  Hey all, Jim A has been teased about the wife and kids being at the lake and him home alone.  His comment about MM is due to the movie, Some Like It Hot.  Well, another hot one here today.  The tropical storm off the coast that was going to give us rain and cooler weather kinda whimped out.  Will probably strenghten and go Nawth to MA. Wink [;)]  More outside work to do.Disapprove [V]  Have a good one.

I think the movie was The Seven Year Itch, Chief. Some Like it Hot is about 2 guys who dress up like women. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that you brought up that title.
