Congratulations Buckeye & Mrs. Buckeye !! [:)][:)]
Buckeye ; no, no, you must have missed some, Chief is still on the floor & is just going to dig a big ditch around his layout now instead of building bench work, I heard !! [:D][:D] Though that could make for a great article in CTT !! But, he didn't even know the Indians still play baseball, so that explains the "No Benchwork" theory !! [:D][:D]
Yes, you must call the dispatcher for permission to foul a track. Sometimes it takes 10 RR officials to figure that out !! [:D][:D]
lAZ : I have to suggest Gargraves, once you start using it, it goes good & you can go anywhere with it or get any radius, & so much cheaper too !!
Hope everyone has a nice evening !!
Thanks,

Roger, you are right about that.
Buckeye, congrats![:D] It is always great to see lasting marriages in this day and age. We are only heading to #6, so have a ways to go.

I had to have the rear window on the wifes car repaired as it went down and would not go up. I got a good deal, but it still was over $400. While going, I found a old rail yard by us that has some old Norfolk and Western passenger cars and some old engines in either wrecked, or heading that way. I took some photos, but will try to find out more and get some closer shots. It was really neat.

Hello All! Buckeye- Congrats on you & your wife's 31st Anniversary[tup] Chief is a very good practical joker with layouts. He should work for the Candid Camara TV Show [;)][;)][:)][:o)]. Dennis- It was nice talking to you last night & remember: "Friends don't let friends eat Grits"[;)][:P][:o)] Jefelectric & Laz- Hope you guys do not get any Floods. Good evening,

Laz, What you saw on my layout was Realtrax not fastrack. I switched to Atlas for my addition. There are pros and cons to them all. The biggest complaint I have heard against fastrack is that it is very noisy. You will probably get some other input. Barry stocks at least 6 types of track, talk to Mike or Barry. They can give you some good advice.

Buckeye, Congratulations to you and Mrs. Buckeye. That article that Doug posted is right up your alley.

Dennis, That is the way it is with newer cars. They don't break as often as the older ones did but when something goes wrong you have to replace a whole assembly instead of one little part.

Ran a few trains this evening & smoked up the train room.

Off to see the Cardiologist tomorrow morning for a consultation on tests done recently.

Enjoy your trains.

Hey - Congratulations to The Buckeye's! Man - that's a great accomplishment! God bless!

I seem to recall that someone on this forum is from Troy IL? There was a train wreck there and folks couldn't go back to their houses until today - just watched some video on the news about it. Bad wreck and apparently some of the tankers were carrying anhydrous ammonia for fertilizer. Anyway, hope everybody got home okay tonight - that would really stink (in more ways than one!)

I really miss being able to get on here on breaks through the day - stupid work computers won't let me, but I can read my at-home emails online. I think the "pot" is too big or sets off "alarms" or something!

Sounds like everyone is doing great. I heard on Bob and Tom that they shot Bruno the bear in Germany. Some entrepreneur had just had a bunck of t-shirts made with a pic of the bear saying "You'll never get me!" Now he wants to sue for damages or something! :O

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Congratulations Buckeye & Mrs. Buckeye !!

Buckeye - there are two ways you foul the track. The first is when you ask permission and the trains stop for you. The second is when you do not pay attention.

I was amazed to witness during my tour of and work with BNSF some years back that a train at 50 mph makes almost no noise when you are in front of it (near the tracks) and you do not realize it is there until it is upon you. We had extensive safety briefings and due to the areas we visited, had to wear BNSF approved steel toed boots.

Have a great day tomorrow all! We will be traveling for the forth.
Roy

Good Morning from Gettysburg.

Congratulations Buckeye & Mrs. Buckeye !! Hope you had a nice day.

It is finally drying out here. Due to soggy wet fields the annual battle reenactment has been rescheduled for next weekend. It might cut down a little on the traffic and tourists on this anniversary of the greatest battle on American soil.

Finished staining the shelf layout parts. If I don't have to cut the grass tonight, I might get the shelves installed.

Got to run. Have a great day.

Good morning all,

Allow me to deviate from my normal greeting with a congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Buckeye for 31 years together! Now, back to our regularly formatted posting. It is sunny and mild in SE Indiana with temps again in the low 80s today. We had a very interesting game last night as we tied 2-2. We started without three of our best players and only 8 or 9 on the field. Two of the better players showed up later, which enabled us to get the tie, but I played the entire game on the field with no rest. It was a long night. What was frustrating was that we had beaten this same opponent earlier in the season quite handily.

I do not know how much this made the national news, but a new Honda plant is going to be built in Greensburg. What impact it will have remains to be seen, but from a railfan standpoint, it is good news as it will keep the rail line going thru town. The plant could bring 2,000 jobs to Greensburg, which would really benefit the local economy. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

[code]Good Morning from Blueberryhill[/code]It is 60 and sunny, right now. Going up to 80 and
no rain predicted. Nice day ahead.
Yesterday, I cut the front grass for the first time this year. It went well. I felt good. The
neighbor cut the side hill, and the wife cut the back. It's nice to do your own. The mower
works great since they put new blades and a new belt on it. As soon as we were done,
it started to rain. Didn't last long.
Today, is a rest day. I have some paperwork to do, and then I will take some pictures and
enjoy the weather. I like these kind of days.
Well, I will have breakfast now, so I'll be back later.
Y'all have a great day.

CONGA BUCKEYE on 31 years, that your wife had to put up with you?
Wish you the best for the next 31.

JOHN CSX30, Yeah up river in WILKES BARRE thjey are getting it pretty bad.
They have gotten 12+ inches up there since the 22nd.
I worked up there in'72 during the AGNES FLOOD and that was very bad.
Hope those people don't see that again?

JELECTRIC, I might swing down to BARRYs sometime?
I don't know when?
I was thinking of the Gargraves but don't know enough about it?
I think MIKE uses it or the ATLAS track?
I'll talk with him.

Ran an easy 4 this morning with my wife.
She tried to show me up and had a .25 mile lead on me but I was just loosening up.
Got her by .5 miles.
GOLF later today.
Oh yeah HAPPY FRIDAY EVE!

See ya down the tracks. [:D]

Mr. & Mrs. Buckeye,
What a small world this forum is. I missed your post last night because my wife and I were out for the evening for our 31st wedding anniversary. It was HOT that day! We had cups (pre water bottle days) of water hidden all over the church in case someone passed out. I think those vests were required in the mid 70's.

Glad to see we are both still on the right track. Our first Grandchild was born last Sunday. It only gets better and better. Many Happy Returns.

Greetings from a sunny and warm northeastern IL - where the Governor is gnashing his teeth this morn about the \Honda plant going 'next door' - the middle boy gets his braces on today and I get the bill. Then I get to sit down with the daughter and the cell phone and iTunes bill and share some unpleasant facts with her. Hopefully will get to run trains after church tonight!

REPUTATION RUINED!!!! Did not rain while I was in MS. Clouds were in the distance when we took off. I still say it is because I was there less than 24 hours. [;)]

MR. Buckeye, congrats to you and condolences to the Mrs Buckeye. BTW: Called your house last night and you wre doing civic duty at Planning Board so you were not even home for the occasion. You talk about me!!!!!

Now to mow the grass [mine and neighbors']. May have to bail it!!!! Got in at 12 AM. Us Airways was not too bad this trip. It seems the employees are not happy and just do not care. I understand that ones left took big cuts and new ones are being paid so low, they are the I don't give a d--- folks. We were late leaving Charlotte last night as plane was there but fight crew was in the terminal. They came wondering up like little stray dogs in no hurray at all to get going. Pittiful. They are cheaper than any other airline though.

First thanks to everyone for the kind words about the anniversary. Who sent her the roses? It sure made my life easier. [:D]

Chief, as you can see I am dedicated to listening to stupid, inept, environmentally unfriendly and obnoxious developers, just like you are required to do in Roseyville. There is a new condo project being proposed and there is a overwhelming amount of opposition, but this time the opposition has a secret weapon. A resident that lives adjacent to the property is a big time zoning/land attorney. He tore the developer a new one while we watched. I loved it! [:D][:D]

Mike, Greensburg just won the lottery. Marysville and Belfountain, Ohio used to be dead little county seat towns like Greensburg. With Honda they have grown and prospered while remaining very rural in nature. Greensburg needs to start doing some master planning because the growth will happen. Many of the same Ohio suppliers will be shipping parts to Greensburg, so Ohio, even though they lost the plant will be impacted economically.

Is Greensburg by any chance on a CSX line? Honda in Ohio is on a CSX line and both of the sites that they were looking at in Ohio were on CSX lines. If Honda follows the Ohio model, there will be a big yard near the new plant.

Picked up my Lionel Burlington dbl. door boxcar today. A good looking and long car, 13 1/4" box, 14 !/2" knuckle to knuckle.

Weather here in one word - HOT!

After putting the baxcar on the layout I think I'll vacuum the pool and spend the rest of the afternoon in it.

Have a good afternoon all.

Buckeye,

Thanks for the info on what happened to Honda towns. CSX does not own the line. It used to be NYC/PennCentral/Conrail before it was almost abandoned. RailTex/RailAmerica (whatever) is the parent company of Central Railroad of Indiana, which is the line that runs it. They own the line from Lawrenceburg to Shelbyville, and they have trackage rights all the way to Indy. The line currently goes thru the proposed site, and so the yard may be on Honda property. There once was a fairly sizable yard in the town itself and I think the rail line still has right-of-way to rebuild at least some of it.
Thanks again for the scoop on what happened to the other towns.

Checked my photos of the train yard, one engine that was actually running was in "Rail Net" livery. Never heard of it. Was painted red with white lettering. The old engines were late model Geeps. I will try to get more photos and perhaps get permission to go on the yard.

Hope y'all have a good day.

Good to see Ben here again ! Wonder if you are near Louisville Ky ?
Sure are some good Murphy's Laws there Dave !! I like the one on never getting your change from the vending machine, reminds of how many times I put the quarters in the machine mornings for a paper & pulled the door open too fast & loose them, or you just can't open the door !![:D][:D]

John(csx), Taking money without vending product is kinda like paying taxes, it's a revenue enhancement without providing services.
Ben, Where did you finally decide to go to school, there are some excellent choices within the boundaries of Ky.
Taking a bit of a break, getting my stuff together for my run day tomorrow and tuesday. I plan on taking quite a bit down and just bring the loco's home tomorrow nite so they can be serviced for tuesday.[^]

Good evening,

Looks like a busy day on the pot, took a while to read all the posts.

Roy, I rather doubt that the steel toed boots would provide a lot of protection if one is run down by an SD70. [:D]

David, Good list that Doug came up with. [;)]

Ken, Congratulations to you and Mrs. Lester on your 31st. [tup]

Laz, I have Gargraves in my display cases, It looks good. The only complaint I have heard is that it is a little fragile and not made to be moved or reused after it is installed. The ties are wood and they can break away from the track if handled to roughly.

Did a little rail fanning today. Took some pics of the NS facilities in Lancaster, PA. They are right along the street and can be photographed from the sidewalk. It is just down the street from my cardiologist's office. Think I will post them Sunday and ask Colin to ID two of the units that I could not ID.

Enjoy your trains.
