Morning all, not much to report, plenty of thunder storms the past few days, little rain. The trees are begging the dogs. Saw a destroyed GP unit yesterday, i will try to get access for photos.

Was up very early but after some of the strange things with E-Bay last nite wanted to do a very detailed virus scan and spyware scan. I thnk someone was on there trying to steal user id's and passwords with some real sneeky shenanigans. [:(!]

Boy, was it teeming here just a while ago. Huge storm. I waited in the El station for it to let up. Got to ride the El for a long way - and a long time - due to track work - this afternoon.
Chuck, what are you setting up with a trolley? Imagine flying that Boeing across the Pacific...

Okay, who's ready for a chuckle ? [:D]

I was on my way home from the dentist's office listening to the news on the radio. We have had thunder and lightening most all day long but essentially no rain with it. Well it seems that the lightening did make a few strikes all over the county. Now this last strike just shows you that even Mother Nature has a sense of humor. In Rancho Bernardo, a community within the city of San Diego, the lightening smoked a couple of large Palm trees. The street name where the trees were located.
"Smoke Signal Drive"
No joke.

Today has been a slow day at our office, (hence all the posts), but when you talk about the unusual weather, here it has been cloudy and humid. Well the fireworks stands are going up, and the one in our parking lot of course has flags on it. Well through out the day the flags have been flying briskly and 1 hour they will be flying northward, then the next hour will be facing due south. They have been shifting direction (180 degrees) all day. And what is strange they will fly in the same direction for about 30 to 40 minutes then shift. I'm waiting to see if they will fly in opposite directions at the same time.

Doug - Hope the dentist trip worked out ok, he isn't located on Molar Ridge is he?

John,

Nice dog story; my dream is to eventually move away from here to somewhere where there's wilderness; sort of like Pigseye's neck of the woods.

I love my job but once it get's BRAC'd to Ft. Meade in maybe 5 I'm outta here. I need miles of woods and areas where beagles are not hated.

Good evening from Gettysburg,

Not much going on here. Didn't get to work on the shelf layout tonight, it was too wet and humid to stain. Maybe tomorrow night, if it dries up.

John/jefelectric- I will definitely post pictures when I am done with the shelf layout for the pre-war. Loved the pictures of the Boening 314, quite a gorgeous plane.

LAZ - 5 miles in the rain??? What a die hard...

See you later.

Another balmy day. Mid-90's and some breeze. Nice and cool this morning - high 60's!

Chuck - we saw CARS last weekend and enjoyed it also. Incredible graphics. Guess that is why it is a few years between Pixar movies.

Sounds like all are well. Have a great tomorrow all!

Well Chief, looks like you came through for us on the rain. Thanks.
Spoke to Kieth, 1688, lastnight, always good to talk with the good folks from this forum. It was a nice break as I was in the middle of writing my wife's "Portfolio" for the hospital. A new thing they are making the nurses do. It is like the government in that you take a given job and then add a bunch of paperwork and committees ad nauseum and call it a process. Perhaps that is a good thing as it makes me like my job more.
Anyway, have a good one.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill
It is 62 degrees and sunny. Burning off the fog. Going up
to 77 today and a chance of a thunderstorm later. Need sunshine.
Today is grocery shopping day. Great job. Yuck.

Chief...Have fun in MS. Yes, the Indians still play baseball. NOT GOOD, but
they still play.

Nothing new from around here. Feeling good. Still a little pain, now and then. Sleeping
better at night. Eating good. It's great to be alive.

Y'all have a great day.

Morning all. Breakfast and then off to store to teach a class. Back to room and goof off until 1 PM. Teach another class and fly home. No rain as of yet. May mess up my record. One big thing. I will be here less than 24 hours so that make a difference [maybe [;)]]. Have a great day and God bless all.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and mild in SE Indiana with temps heading to the low 80s again today. I did not get very much done last night, but at least the weather was nice. I have a soccer game tonight against a team we beat 7-0 the first time we played them. They may be otu for a little payback tonight so we will have to be on our toes. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Just beat another thunderstorm walking from the train station into the office. We raced through it on the train. Another one passed by early this am. Everything v. green - haven't been able to cut the lawn since coming back from vacation.. We've had a storm every day this week. Aren't the Tigers something this year? The Sox keep winning but they're still a game out. I'm realizing this morning it's tough to work so late on Tues and then get up so early today. Need more coffee from the pot.

Did you get the CTT email newsletter that hinted at forum changes: "Trains.com is making some big improvements that will involve the ClassicToyTrains.com portion of the site. Good morning all,

Sounds like the Chief is having his usual problems with US Air.

We got another 1.4" of rain last night, that is 7.5" since the 22nd. It looks like the worst of this storm system is over. It moved much faster than the experts expected so not as much rain fell last night as was predicted.

Still some flooding along creeks and some flooding predicted along the Susquehanna. The big 4th of July bash in Harrisburg is threatened but the worst may be over by then. They set off the fireworks on City Island and have vendors and entertainment all along the river for this event.

Chuck, Glad to hear you are doing well.

Doug, I checked the wired link and it says coming June 30th. Were you able to access the story? Is this a subscription service or a freebee? Not familiar with 'Wired'

Laz, Where are you? Doing 10 miles today?

Mitch, Planes have always been another of my fascinations. I guess you could say I like planes, trains and automobiles. The old clippers were the zenith of luxury air transportation. The catch is that most of us mere mortals could not have afforded it back then. The reason they were used is that large air fields did not exist at the time so the logical thing to do was use seaplanes. When WW2 came along a large number of large airfields were built and the seaplanes were replaced with more efficient and less costly land based planes, but for about 10 years they ruled.

Still working on my stockyard, maybe some progress photos for Sunday. Picked up a preordered Weaver brass switch tower. Very nice but for the price I think they should have included lighting. Might try to add that myself.

All have a good day.

It was in the paper magazine, John. Wired is a weird magazine - kind of like a Rolling Stone for techies. But they also post the content online.

Really interesting look at the engineering involved with building this line on permafrost - funny what can be done when one has the money and resources to throw at a project.

Oh JELECTRIC, I almost forgot, I have a question for you.
Are you using fast track?
I thought I saw it on your layout?
I'm thinking of a wider layout and don't know if I want to have my wide radius made out of 0-72 tubular or go with the fast track it comes as big as 0-84?
Rightr now I have the tubular 0-27 but that only goes to 0-54.
What do you and if I can have input from the rest of YUZ GIZ, I would appreciate it.
TANKS!

Sunny MS. My reputation has failed me. Well, maybe. I flew over Dennis and he got rain. I think it is because the weather does not realize I am here. I will be here less than 24 hours [about 16 to 18] depending on US Airways????????[?] Off to the store for final class then I guess go to airport and goof off. No train store except one in downtown Jackson. [:(] Will chat later.

Hello everyone,
We got about 7 to 8 inches of rain here since the 22nd. I just finished cutting the lawn, and I will tell you what, the sides of my house are soaked. It's pretty bad.

Well, talk to you guys later.

Gee it is Wednesday already. Time flies when you have too much to do. [|)]

I did get to run trains yesterday outside while we had friends over for supper.

I was sure glad to see that the Chief has finally gotten his layout built without our help. [;)] I hope CTT makes the trip to Roseyville to do an article on his new layout complete with photos. It should be the highlight of their publishing year.

Yesterday, I had to take a test about railroad safety so that I could learn how not to "foul" a track. John, I now know why when you pass a track gang with Amtrak nobody is working.

Looking forward to the holiday, but today is Mrs. Buckeye's and my 31st wedding anniversary. I wonder if she will choose Burger King over Kentucky Fried this year for supper. In 1975, when we were married it was 92 degrees and the church did not have air conditioning. Of course I picked my tux out in the winter and had on vests. [D)]

See ya down the tracks. [:D]
