[code]Good Morning from Blueberryhill[/code]It is 66 degrees out and cloudy. Going up to only 73
today, with a chance of rain.
I have a few things to do today. Run a few errands. Yesterday was rain, on and off all
day. Looks the same today. Maybe later, I will work on the layout for awhile. I have to
get started on the scenery.
Mitch..I watched that NASCAR race too. I'm glad J. Gordon won. Stewart
did good too.
Talk to ya later.
Y'all have a great day.

sorry for the post in the wrong column last night but like i said we had great time yesterday at the golf course. of course i pretended to be tiger but my game is nowhere his. well maybe mt driving and fairway hitting but my putting is horrible. i could be mo n the green and have a chance to go 1 under or even par but i would end up 2 or 3 over. but it didnt matter because it wasnt the point to go out and and play like we were at the masters but to go out and have a great time drink a few beers and joke around a little which we did. well it is about 84 degrees right now and its only 7:45 with a high of about 95 to 98 and the heat index will make it feel like 105 that humidity is nothing to play with. well im gone head to the store and purchase the parts for my camera as promised and hopefully the phase for me bein able to post pictures has come to light. to all hows your day started and hope all has a great day. until later peace.

Morning guys,
Just got a call to go do a few cases, since that should keep me busy for the rest of the day, doesn't look like I will be getting any train time in. Anyway, have a great day. I understand we should be around 100 and thunderstorms today, so, I couldn't do anything outside anyway.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and mild in SE Indiana with temps hitting near 80 today. I showed off the PWC helicopter car to my train loving daughter yesterday. The first time it flew, she said that was so cool and wanted to do it again. She wants one as well. I may have figured out a Christmas present for her. It was cool enough that I could run the standard gauge for a while last night. I watched England beat Ecuador on a Beckham free-kick. He can really bend the ball. I also watched Jeff Gordon win the NASCAR road race as well. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

More RAIN here! [:)] [:)] [:)]

2.9 inches in the last 24 hours & a total of 4" in the last week. You can almost see the corn and soy beans growing in the surrounding fields. Lawns are turning back to green.

Chief, It must have been the rumor of your possible arrival that did it.

Reggie, Welcome to the forum.

Mitch, Can't you just move the shelf about 6" away from the wall at the window opening? Of course this would mean an S curve in the track on either side of the window, maybe use 072 track to do this so it's not so severe.

I finished transferring my daughter's computer to another case and installed a new power supply and network card. Checks out fine here, will deliver on Friday and make sure it works OK with her DSL connection and peripherals.

Just letting breakfast digest a little before heading to the fitness center. Don't really enjoy it but gotta do it. Then to the office to complete a very small project for my son.

Just remembered that I wanted to comment to David, I must be a big pain living in your neighborhood. We have lived in this house for 39 years and have always had great neighbors. I guess we never really appreciated them until hearing some of the stories about other neighborhoods. One dog story. Our next door neighbor had an English Setter that was a real charactor. When we would come home and open our garage door he would often follow us into the garage and then into the house. He would pick up one of our dogs toys and then go into our fenced in back yard (we have a dog door in the wall) and jump over our 4' fence to go home. His owner would always return the toys that he took home, but he loved to play the game. By the way, in the 39 years here only one neighbor is still the same on the whole street but all have been good ones.

All have a good day,

That is why my layout is still on the floor. Gathering lots of info and ideas from others. [;)]

Chief, Your layout is on the floor because you don't know how to build the benchwork. Come on Chief, tell it like it is! [:D][:D][:D][:D] Of course, in the event that you decide to start construction, please warn us.

Back home after a busy weekend. Wasn't able to connect with TomS but did enjoy a great graduation party at the lake. The wind really made the lake rough.

Mrs. Buckeye is over at her school today where they are offering counseling. It hard to image the stress it puts on elementary teachers to have four children die in less than one months time. CNN has been at the school so some of you may have seen the reports.

Getting some showers today, not much but better than nothing. Saw on the weather last night Atlanta, north-west and north GA have gotten close to 4" of rain in the last week. The Athens area where I am a whole 0.02".

The Burlington 2 door box car I've had preordered should be in this week. Lewis received the shipping notice from Lionel last week. That'll mean I only need the Burlington boxcar from the 3 car 6464 set to have all the Lionel CB&Q and Burlington freight cars.

Looks like another AC day, no records but should hit 100* with this [censored] humidity still holding on. This is supposed to be a semi-arrid region and this stuff is not well received. At least tomorrow morning we'll be heading down to Del Mar for the county fair, yumyum all that good healthy food. Almost on the beach so it will be very pleasant weather.

Doug,
In the past when I've been to the Del Mar Fair they have had a very nice Garden Layout on display. Are their any other trains there? Have a good time and enjoy!! Especially the funnel cakes.

I'm back! Hope I wasn't missed too much. Cool and now sunny in Chicago. Saw my favorite overpass on I-65 outside Lebanon, IN where PRR is still etched in concrete; a host of Southern boxcars and CSX coil cars stored outside Louisville; lotsa dormant track. Had good weather except drove through big thunderstorms in the mountains outside Asheville and Lafayette (IN). Spent too much. Got another two of those nice little Indian motorcycles for Fathers Day. Now back wading through work.

Don, The "G" folks haven't put up much of anything for several years now. One of the local nurseries, who happens to be an LGB dealer, always has a little something in their garden display. They do happen to have a gorgeous layout at their garden center in Poway. If you are down this way and it isn't a whirlwind S.D. trip stop by and check it out. They had photos on their web site so I assume they still do, Walter Andersen Nursery. There is always an "N" scaler group from Vista that is there.
Funnel cakes are for lunch, my first stop is ALWAYS the hot-n-gooey cinnamon rolls, and of course it's not all sugar you also have to mix in things from the other "Food Groups".

Corn Dogs,

Batter Fried Potatoes w/cheese & tobasco sauce.

Deep Fried Zucini with ranch dressing

Corn on the cob w/butter

And then it's time for lunch, [dinner] [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [:I]

Afternoon all. The reason I don't get to build my benchwork is: Took Burg [the lab] to the vet this AM for his annual [shots and all]. As soon as we truned in, he knew where we were. Had to drag him out of the truck and into the door. Finished, flew out the door and jumped in the truck. Smart dog. Around 1 PM went to the pond to work on the gulley [1 1/2 feet deep and about a foot wide] cut by the storm and water going over the emergency spillway. Put old concrete blocks [the old heavy type] in the gulley. First ones were two mortered together. Layed them down to make a funnel type with two holes. Drove rebar down to hold it. Put in a big [90lb] slab of stone beside it to block the water from eating out around it. Man that stuff is heavy to lift. The rest I stood up right in the gulley and drove rebar in them. Put big stones in front of them to help block the water pressure against the blocks and to prevent cutting under them. Hope this will slow the water down and help control the erosion. Next is to place a 2X10 about 4 foot long at the top so it will funnel water through the blocks. One big help is a big concrete manhole right at the top of the emergency spillway. That forces the water over to the solid rock face on the hill and lower side. Got in and wife thought I had fallen in the pond. Even boots were wet inside. Funny. I had cooled off some sitting in the shade on the bridge over the spillway with a breeze for about 30 minutes and listening to the water go over the falls. Rain ran me to the truck. Now I am showered and rested. Think I will run trains. Drink plenty of sweet ice tea [had a jug with me and that was my salvation]. Tomorrow I fly to Pearl [Jackson] MS and back Wednesday evening. Who has time to build???? Later

Doug cnw, [#welcome] BACK.

We are getting some more rain. Didn't check the gauge but probably a few tenths. Some minor flooding in the area but nothing serious yet. The rain has been coming down slowly so most of it has been soaking in. Nice!

David, Hope I didn't confuse you, or anyone else, I commented here on your post in Sunday photo fun.

Anyone heard from Dr. John?

John no problem

seems like the monsoons here that i experienced in Philippines, Port Darwin Austrailia, Taiwan and other places many decades ago. The outside trees and plants are thankful for the deluge. NS and CSX are less.

Chief - I thought you were a recoverer from a heart attack, be careful we don't want you having another, especially off working by your lonesome.

We'll todays rains made up for the times we've been getting passed by. Since this morning the pool gained 3" up to going out the overflow, so I don't know how much more came down.

We're a bit concerned about our daughter and crew up in MD with the weather they've had. They had been at the ocean last week for vacation and were probably due to head home this weekend. Hope no news is good news.

Dougdagrump - hope you finished it all off with some TUMS! [;)] Sounds great - be careful or you'll end up fat like me!

David - I was just thinking, we haven't had any pics of the Holy Land lately - did you already go through them all?

We had plenty of rain in the past week and it's cool now. Of course, when we get storms, we tend to get hail and tornado warnings and stuff.

SWMBO took Chewy for a haircut last week - forgot to tell you. She looks like a totally different dog - sort of like the flying dragon from The Never Ending Story - Falco???

I got over my anger management problem from yesterday at work - all the guys got a big laugh out of it. My bud Jeff spent the weekend putting in a chainlink fence. His daugher and son-in-law and granddaughter moved in on him recently and brought a giant "horse dog". It ate through the neighbors' wood fence![%-)] He fixed their fence and then put in a fence of his own on his side to protect it. Then he found the Beast chewing on his little old mut, Peppy! That was it, he dragged it off and got his hand skinned in the Monster's collar. He kicked it out of the room and informed his son-in-law that there Will be Positive control of the Creature, or Else. To add insult to injury, the Thing then snuck up behind while he was getting a hot dog from the fridge and ate half of it before he realized it was there![(-D]

Chuck - glad to hear you are getting around so well and hope you are taking it easy.

Doug M - welcome back! Hope you had a great time!

Buckeye - it's a real shame and I think the news people just make some things like this worse by keeping it in the air and not letting people deal with their feelings and stuff on their own.

Chief - here's an idea, since you are so good with concrete and stuff, why don't you go down in the basement and dig a trench, about 36 inches deep and 36 inches wide, all around your layout - instant "benchwork"! [}:)][:-,][:D]

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

John -I figured it out. I just set the track off the wall an inch or so and the curtain falls behind the track shelf.

Chuck - I've been a Gordon fan since before he drove in NASCAR. He was some kind of fast in the Midgets, Sprint Cars and Silver Crown cars. We even have a signed photo from the year he drove the Baby Ruth Ford in the Busch Series. We met him one night at the quarter midget races up at Pocono right as he started running Winston Cup cars, He was a real nice young man. He spoke to my son for about 5 minutes. He was sitting there watching the little kids race with his Mom and Step Dad. Of course, that was well before he became famous. Now he couldn't go to the Quarter Midget races, because it was cause a riot.

Doug/cnw1995 - good to see you back. Hope the vacation was relaxing. Any photos?

Chief - I get tired just listening to all that you do. I hope I have 1/10 of the energy that you do when I retire.

Almost finished the shelf project. I will probably finish building shelves tomorrow night. After I get the mess cleaned up from this project and the shelves stained and permanently attached, I will take some photos and post them.

Good night to all,

Mitch [swg]

Good morning all,

It is sunny and mild in SE Indiana with temps heading to the low 80s today. Chief, as one of the "early birds", I was busy posting on some of the other topics today. Doug, welcome back from vacation. I know of the overpass on I-65 as I have been thru that area several times. Mitchelr, I echo your comments about Jeff Gordon. Although he is originally from California, he spent a lot of early racing years in Indiana, and he is really popular here. The Brickyard is one of the few tracks where he does not get booed. I wish he and Tony Stewart would go back to "real" racing and do the Indy 500 sometime. I know Tony will be there someday.

I played soccer last night with the high school kids and I am not too sore. Tonight might be a train night, I hope. I also hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I hope to have some photos this weekend. Sunny and cool again in Chicago. Boy, Chief, I'm tired just reading about your work on the pond. Speaking of sore, I helped some friends pack up for moving last eve as soon as I got home from work. They're moving to an even bigger house from the one they currently have - which dwarfs mine. I spent most of the evening taking down shelving in their basement and pondering what a huge layout I could fit in it. Today is a work 'retreat' - which means lots of management navel-gazing -- and then a long night as I start my class again. All the more time to peruse CTT while on the local going home tonight.

Good morning,

More rain last night, another 2.1". Now have 6.1" since June 22. I guess I have to be more careful what I wish for. Forecast is for between 1" & 5" in the county in the next 24 hours. Some flooding of low lying areas and basements. We haven't had any signifigant water in our basement since 72 but I just finished moving things to higher elevations that were on the floor.

Mitch, Be sure to post pictures. Sounds neat.

Doug, Sounds like you jumped right back in after vacation. Nothing I love (not) like moving. Did a lot when I was a kid & helped my kids quite a bit. Maybe that explains why we have lived in the same house for 39 years.

Roy, Sounds like real pleasant weather. We could use a little of that right now.

dougdagrump, That menu sounds a lot like our local farm fair coming up in August.

Chief, If you come to our area now you better fly this airline.

This is a Boeing 314, 30s vintage. It is a shame but non of these were preserved, all scrapped.

All have an enjoyable day.

HI GIZ,
RAIN again today.
JELECTRIC you got us beat in the rain gauge.
We only got 3.5 inches since Saturday, before that 1.75 for a total of 5.25.
Your tomatoes are going to be very sweet when we do get some sunshine.

Got my run in this morning, 5.25miles all be it kinda wet but did feel good.
I guess I don't need a shower today? Should of took a bar of soap with me.
Going to run some trains and get caught up on the coffee pot.

All have a good and dry one?
