Today is my daughter, Julia's birthday. We're taking her out to her favorite restaurant and back home for a little cake and ice cream. I fell in love with that little girl the minute she was born, and that love just keeps growing. Each year to mark her birthday, I mow her new age into the lawn. Last night I mowed a huge 6 right under her window. I always wonder what planes flying by think of the numbers each time they fly over the yard. It's quite visible.

[bday] JULIA! [bday]

I need an extra large pitcher of sweet iced tea. It is hot, 101 at 2 p.m. in the shade, in the yard. Needless to say I'm indoors until after sunset.

Chief; Yes, Beep will be for my Southern Grandson !! I like that one !![:D][:D] Now my son- in-law at least has a Northern Civil War uniform !! [:D][:D] He goes sometimes to the reenactments down there. He plans to start building an O-gauge layout, but first some sort of civil war diorama, till they get their new house & he wants a basement for it. He said I have to come down more then & help him !! It will give me a chance to do some scouting behind enemy lines too !! Oh, I think he is visiting that big hobby shop in Elizabethtown, that advertises in CTT. So far they have been having fun with the Lionel Crayola train set I gave them !! I have to get them off the Gritts though !! [:D][:D]
All have a nice night !!

Question for you guys- I have a set of ACL E6 AA units. Did E6's ever run with a B unit? I don't remember ever seeing one.

Thanks and have a good night all.

Good evening all,

Trying to recoup after a long day of mulching. Two grandsons and I placed 10 yards of mulch today. I should say they did, I supervised and cleaned up. Still wore me out.

Going to work on the stockyard project a little bit later.

Sounds like everyone but us is getting rain. Why don't you visit us Chief?

Happy Birthday to Julia. Hooray for 900 pages.

I received my 1688 back from Keith. He is a miracle worker. With the TLC he provided, it runs better than it ever did and it looks better too. It had a ding on the cab window that he was able to remove. Looks much better than when I sent it out last week. Kudos to Keith for his help.

Interview committee that I served on went very well today. Hopefully Superintendent will select a candidate.

Have to try to get to work on paint oven and painting but it has been too hot in the garage. Maybe I'll get to it Friday before the recital trip.

Thinking of revamping my track plan, I have a larger outside oval, then a smaller oval with a figure 8 integrated inside of the large oval. As I have gotten more and more into pre-war trains lately, I have learned that the pre-war trains do not play well with Lionel 022 switches or remote contral tracks.[:(] I either need to separate the ovals and take out the switches or replaces the switches and remote control tracks. Anyone have any suggestions for which brand of switches work best with pre-war. In my current configuration I have 7 switches with Lionel 0-31 tubular track, so cost is also a consideration.

Take care.

Well, Golllleeee, 900 pages and counting. Gotta read quick on this site as the postings go up faster than you can respond.
A bit busy with work lately, I think they know when I am doing layout work. Now days, I have a good excuse to stay indoors. As Roger mentioned, over 100 today. I am hoping to get a running layout prior to the Chief opening the next BPS. Then I can have something besides two crumb snatchers to show off.
Anyway, y'all take care,

Long meeting [Regional Transportation Comm.] this afternoon. Developer of 1,000 houses [yes] is trying to screw over some folks by building HIS highway instead of the one on the books for the future. Asked him to build the complete highway [a feeway]. He said no. Told him that was the cost of doing business. I then said I would not vote for his road but the original freeway. The folks liked that.

To bed.

Buckeye - My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Buckeye and her colleagues as well as the families involved. One of the most difficult situations I've ever had to deal with was the death of one of our student's who was killed while riding his bike across the street. One of my teachers witnessed the accident as she was waiting to turn into her driveway and it happened in right front of her house. Very, very sad.

The more I think of revamping my track plan, I might leave what I've got and add an elevated around the wall loop for running pre-war trains. I talked to Keith last night and he mentioned getting pre-war 0-27 switches. I'll have to think on it and see what I can come up with.

Have a great day.

[code]Good Morning from Blueberryhill[/code]It is 66 degrees and raining hard. Going up to 87 today
and more rain. Thunder showers last night woke up everybody. Lots of lightening.
Today, I will get a hair cut. And probably come home and play with the trains for
awhile. Neighbor fella cut the grass last night. Great guy.
Buckeye...Tell Mrs. Buckeye that she is in our prayers
and we hope for her , the strength , to endure this loss. It is much worse when it is a
child. I hope the law can solve the crime.
I will go for now and be back later.
Y'all have a great day.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and humid in SE Indiana with the temps hitting close to 90 again today. A cold front is suppose to bring a lot of rain some time in the next 24 hours (and without the Chief!). I hope it holds off tonight so we can get our game in. We tied 1-1 last night and I "took one for the team" with a save around the 18. The other team had a breakaway and I knew if it got close to the goal, it would be in the net. As soon as the ball crossed the line, I did a "fetal position" around the goal. My glasses went flying either to me hitting the ground or contact from the other player. Glasses and I were basically ok. Buckeye, sorry to hear the news about the student and the family. Even though my wife is a sub, she still gets to know the kids and cares about them as well. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning.

Buckeye, Very sad experience for Mrs. Buckeye. My thoughts and prayers are with her.

Chief, I will be out canvassing the neighborhood to raise your fee. We are getting another teaser right now. Wet paving, dry under the trees. They keep promising on the weather but no results. Some areas not to far away have had normal rain.

Mitch, Another loop dedicated to prewar sounds like the way to go. Cost probably wouldn't be any greater than redoing what you have.

(I think I removed all the bad words) :-) (actually I missed one but I see that the filter zapped it)

Well folks, hurricane season's officially here so here are a few new drink recipes to keep handy
just in case the worst happens. ... It's what we do in the South!!! (The sender lives in Mississippi.)

Enjoy (the bottom 2 are my favorite!)

MANDATORY EVACUATION

1 1/2 oz. Absolute Ruby Red vodka
1/2 oz. vermouth
Clamato
Prune juice
Combine vodka and vermouth in cocktail glass. Fill remainder of glass with equal parts Clamato
and prune juice. Stir. Drink. Ask next-door neighbor whose rotten tree blew over and crashed onto
your roof - even though you'd warned him for months to cut it down - if you can use his bathroom.
Repeat.

============================================================

CATEGORY 5

1/2 oz. vodka
1/2 oz. tequila
1/2 oz. rum
1/2 oz. bourbon
1/2 oz. gin
Sweet-and-sour mix
Splash of fruit juice
Combine vodka, tequila, rum, bourbon and gin in a tall glass. Fill remainder of glass with
sweet-and-sour mix and splash of juice. Stir, then garnish with an inverted drink umbrella. Drink
during peak storm hours, and vow not to believe anyone who tries to tell you the hurricane that
flooded your garage and destroyed your shed was just a Category 1.
CONE OF PROBABILITY

1 oz. cinnamon schnapps
1 sugar cone
Pour the schnapps into the sugar cone. Every time you hear a TV weatherman say, "cone of
probability," bite off the end of the cone and down the shot. If you hear Bryan Norcross say it, drink
two shots consecutively.

============================================================

FEEDER BAND

2 oz. Midori
2 oz. rum
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
After your home loses power, combine Midori and rum in a cocktail glass. Add a scoop of the
vanilla ice cream that is melting in your freezer.
Stir, and
drink through a straw.
============================================================

BEACH EROSION

1 1/2 oz. Goldschläger
1 1/2 oz. apple brandy
1 pack Sugar in the Raw
Combine Goldschläger, apple brandy and sugar in cocktail glass. As you drink, seriously
contemplate moving your Yankee butt back to New Jersey where it belongs.

============================================================

DOWNED POWER LINE

1 1/2 oz. rum
5 oz. Jolt Cola
Combine ingredients in a cocktail glass. Drink while trying to figure out how the heck you're
supposed to go two freakin' weeks without

television.
============================================================

FLOOD ZONE

2 oz. Kahlúa
2 oz. Baileys Irish cream
4 oz. rum
Serve in a 6-ounce glass and laugh-cry deliriously as the mess spills all
over the countertop.
============================================================

COLD SHOWER

2 oz. Blue Aftershock
4 oz. Sprite
Combine in a cocktail glass with crushed ice you received after waiting in line for three
hours at a mall parking lot. Take a deep breath, sip and scream like a little girl when the cold
beverage hits your tongue. Repeat.

============================================================

LOOTERS WILL BE SHOT

1 oz. Jack Daniel's
Splash of sarsaparilla
Rock salt
Load both barrels of a shotgun with rock salt. Climb to the roof of your house with gun, bottle
of Jack Daniel's and can of sarsaparilla.

Fill shot glass
with Jack and splash of sarsaparilla. Watch for looters. When you spot one, blast his***with
rock salt. Drink shot. Repeat.

============================================================

THE CHAIN SAW

1 oz. Goldschläger
1 oz. Rumplemintz
3 oz. Jim Beam
Splash of vermouth
Combine Goldschläger, Rumplemintz and Jim Beam in an empty soup can.
Add
splash of vermouth. Drink. Remove chain saw from garage and attempt to cut up fallen tree
limbs in yard. Ask neighbor to drive you to hospital when it all goes horribly wrong.

============================================================

FOUR-WAY STOP

1 1/2 oz. vodka
1 1/2 oz. vodka and Midori
1 1/2 oz. vodka and Galliano
1 1/2 oz. vodka and grenadine
Pour each ingredient into a separate shot glass. Serve one to yourself and three other people.
The person with the clear shot of vodka drinks first. The person to his right drinks the Midori
shot, and so on. If somebody drinks out of order, develop a quick case of road rage and beat the
living crap out of
him.
============================================================

BLUE TARP

1 1/2 oz. curacao
2 oz. pineapple juice
Splash of lime
Combine ingredients in a leaky paper cup and serve. Wait six to eight months for someone to
repair the cup. If you're impatient, hire an unlicensed, out-of-state contractor to do the job for
an exorbitant sum and pray he doesn't

hurt himself in the process.
============================================================

FEMA FIZZLE

1 oz. Southern Comfort
2 oz. sloe gin
Tonic water
One week after the storm has passed and your neighborhood is still in ruins with no sign of
help on the way, combine Southern Comfort and gin in a cocktail glass. Fill remainder with tonic
and add a dash of Angostura bitters.

Serve with a nut brownie. Before drinking, raise the glass and say the toast, "Doing a heckuva
job!"

Evening all. Started early this AM. Got wife off to the beach. Hung Japanese Bettle Traps [AH SO]. Then mowed the Mexican's yard. Showered and went to a political lunch [getting some biggies to agree with the Town, they did]. Came back and mowed the widow lady's yard. Weedeated all the yards. Edged my sidewalk and walkways. Used the leaf blower to blow the pecan leaves and etc off of drive and clippings and dirt from edging off of walkways and sidewalk. Drank lots of water. Hottest day here this year. Extra humid. OH, picked garden. Got more tomatoes. Shower time and then tomato sandwiches [lots of mayo, salt and lots of black pepper, watch the Yanks argue over that [;)]]. Hey, I'm 60 now and not suppose to be doing all of this in one hot day. [:0] [So wife and friends say] Later.
