John, the horse people are one up one me right now. [:0] Forgot to spray my legs, socks and pants before staying too long on the pond dam [coverd with big pine trees]. Yes, got red bugs from my feet up to my waist. [B)][:(] Thank God for hydrocortisone cream. [:)]

Tom, hope the wife is OK.

Mitch, how is Chewy doing? Better I hope.

Good morning everyone. It also could depend on how my wife's back feels. She slipped in the garage on Saturday and landed very hard on her lower back. She is very sore and having a hard time sitting. If the lake is a little rough the boat ride could be painful with all that bouncing over the waves. If there are any messages for Buckeye let me know and I will pass them on.

Have a great day everyone.

Tom, I hope your wife is better. Sore backs are no fun.
Say " HI " to Buckeye for me.
Have a good time.

Mitch or LAZ,

My sister in-law and husband stopped here on their way back to CO last weekend and had spent quite a bit of time in PA recently. They talked at length about Antinim (SP?) battlefied and how much they enjoyed that area. Any thoughts? We are giving serious thought about attending York this fall and have never been to PA so I'm trying to think ahead about planning. Not sure at this point about driving or flying, personally I'd rather drive---more room to bring "stuff" home[:)] and not deal with airline hassles.

Thanks!

TomS - I posted some photos in the Sunday photo fun this AM. It is starting to shape up, but I still have lots to do. I built it to run some pre-war trains that don't play well with post-war 022 switches. I need to trace a track short (probably a bad track section) and run some power feeds and fix some broken brackets.

Thanks for asking.

Jon,

Antietam is in Sharpsburg, Maryland less than an hour from Gettysburg. It is the site of the bloodiest single day battle in the Civil War. Very different than Gettysburg, in that it is much less built up. I believe you can get a better feel for the battle at Antietam. It is also much less visited then Gettysburg. Gettysburg Battlefield has many monuments and markers and the whole town is very built up with motels, hotels and touristy kinds of stuff. Antietam is very rural and serene. While you are in the area there's a Civil War Medicine museum in nearby Frederick, MD and another Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, PA.

Good morning from a grey and damp northeastern Illinois. Had a nice afternoon - it really cleared up and we visited my train buddies cook-out for hours. My bride gabbed with her friends in the A/C whilst the men sat on lawn chairs and watched the little ones play with string, water, buckets, beanbags and plastic balls and bats. They have $1K worth of toys and they love this stuff - cleaning the sidewalk and tree-trunks, playing made-up games. Some older guys set up their guitars, amps and drums in the garage and rocked and played blues all day. It was all fun to watch - then everyone came over to our house where they watched the city fireworks and talked until late (for me). May your wife's back heal quickly Tom so you and Buckeye can get together. Don't know what the bride has in store for me today - have a good Monday.

Chief,
Had an idea. What if you get a trail camera, the kind used by deer hunters that you strap to a tree and when someone/something goes by, you get a nice photo of them. If you get a photo of your horse folks, you can have the local constable pay them a visit with the photo and a warning.
Well, got my 4 year old son a Humvee remote control. big thing, 1/6th scale. this was for his birthday yesterday. After much anticipation, as it took 18 hours to charge the battery, my son finally got to see dad mess up. I had screwed the antena into the back as instructed, but they did not have the darn thing connected right on the inside, so when Dad (that would be me) turned on the remote, thing took off, through the living room, into the kitchen, and into Mom's flower pots[B)]. My son had eyes like saucers as the glass shattered. It was while I was cleaning up the mess when he asked, "Daddy, you are not too good at fixing things, are you?" , Rotten Nasty Kid. Anyway, now I have to get ready for work and face the music when I tell Mom.

First of all, thanks for the good wishes for my wife's back. She's an RN doing oncology in a doctor's office. I just called her there and her doc wrote her an order to get some x-rays taken so she is heading over there shortly.

Dennis, good luck with the remote controlled car. Kids don't pull any punches when they have something they want to say.

Chuck - I'll say to Buckeye.

Praying for your wife, TomS.

Chewy is doing much much better today. She had a normal BM today and is eating regular food again, just a little at a time though. She's still really clingy though and wants to lay on my arm while I'm typing (now) or somehow be touching you at all times. Chewy is a really good dog and I was very scared that she would be gone over the weekend. Thanks for all the prayers and kind thoughts, guys.

Chuck - 9 weeks went fast, huh? I only smoked a couple years back in college. Don't miss it at all. Many of my friends still smoke and I have to be around smoking all the time, but it just doesn't interest me - Thank God! For one thing, it's very expensive now, and for another, all the health stuff is scary. God bless you and keep you healing up!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Only help fix hearts son, only hearts. [;)]

Took it slow today. Service the JD mower and put on sharpened blades, sharpened and sprayed the ones I took off, mowed MY grass, soaker hosed the garden, took junk to the dumpster site, checked the pond, watered wife's flowers [that takes 2 hours] and hung her new hammock. Did rest a while as I was on the phone with Texas buddy talking about how to wire his new layout [tore up his small one and building a bigger one]. Shower and go buy hot dogs, buns, hamburgers and etc. OH, I ran trains for ten minutes while cooling off from outside. [:)] Now I've added another post to the Coffee Pot [which someone has made a snide remark about]. [:0]

YOu all know me as an O ga. guy but I am planning a multi gauge shelf lay out as I have said before and before paking it all up for storage this weekend, I decided to inventory the HO stuff.

Naturaly I wanted to run it a while.

I took some pics if you would care to look.

Now this is mostly cheap ebay and train show stuff. It is but a start. [:I]

Steve, while this forum mostly deals with O, there are plenty of other scale interests, and so long as you want to be a part of this, I have no problem with it and look forward to reading your posts, and seeing your HO pics.

The Humvee saga continues, last night, while it was still light out, our entire family went outside to play. I took the time to show Ricky (age 4) how to operate the remote control. While we were watching his antics, he suddenly turned the humvee towards the garage. Now this thing goes VERY FAST, that being the case, I tell him to stop it, well, he did.....after putting a nice big dent in the door. Oh boy! I can't wait to get the trains running and have my son at the controls. I think this is my father's revenge, that my son would be just like me.

Have a great 4th everyone, and please keep the guys on the front lines in your prayers.

Good morning from a sunny and warm northeastern Illinois. I got to cut back the bush around the deck - I like it kind of hidden and private with all the vines and overhanging branches but not the bride -especially not with company coming over later. Looks like a day for the kids and I to be put to work on cleaning things. I got to work some more on the Arpitz Forest on the layout last night. Hope to post some pictures later. Got an idea from CTT for poking line poles into the carpet beneath the layout I hope to try later if I can sneak away. Dennis, hang in there - they'll get driving it right eventually and someday you'll have all the memories of the thing when it's gone with the dents and bruises around the house...

Can't find the Sunday Photo thread. So here are the photos. The second shows 'haystacks' I made by painting the cement cones used to hold down bunches of balloons at fancy galas.

[code]Good Morning from Blueberryhill[/code]
[code]Happy 4th of July[/code]It rained last night until about 5 am. It's 60 degrees and humid. Cloudy.
Looks like more rain on the way. Going up to 84 today. Don't see any sun. Yuck.
Fireworks, locally, got rained out. They shot off about 3 and had to quit. Hard rain.
Not doing too much today. May cook out, if rain stops. I will run trains for a while. Love
that new GG1. Looks great pulling about 10 cars. Need some Tuscan Madison cars.
Well, that's it for now. Going to breakfast.
Y'all have a great day.

Hi GIZ,
HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!!
Humid this morning.
Did a long run of 7 miles felt great.
Sweated like crazy, even had to ring out my sox this morning.
Yesterday we waterproofed a quarter of the basement.
Today hope to get about three quarter of it done.
Then tomorrow start to take apart the layout.
Friday maybe start on the new one if I get the walls done and weight room switched to other side?

Have a wonderful and safe 4th.

Dennis, you should have said, "Son, you can't drive very well, since I can't fix things very well." Grandparents spoil Grandchildren so they can be payback for all the parents measness when they were children. [;)]

Been to Super Walmart and Kroger [Ball Park franks on sale for $.99] and bought supplies and food for the big cookout. Will have firesworks in Roseyville in teh park across the field from my back fence [we have a great view witout the crowd]. 10,000+ folks expected in Roseyville around 8PM to see the fireworks at 9:30. Takes a couple of hours to clear the traffic.

Now go work in trainroom [put up light fixture]. [;)]

LAZ, I guess you are "trackless right-of-way watcher trash" now. [;)]

Good morning from Gettysburg. Kind of gray here, supposed to get to the low 90's.

Found the short in the track on the shelf. I had one section of track that had a short. Replaced it and then put in two half sections to move things away from the walls a little. Now there's no rubbing against the walls and no derailments. Ran the Beep around a few laps. Still have to get some screws to secure the track. I also need to get another piece of lumber to replace a section that I pieced together. I need to replace a few brackets and shore up some of the brackets and shelves.

We are getting ready to make the trek to the enormous hardware lumberyard to get some wood and screws. We will probably shop for a gas grill too, ours is on it's last legs. We might go to a free concert at Gettysburg College later today or this evening.

Have a great day.

Good afternoon,

Laz, Did you decide what track you are going to use on the new layout?

Doug, The Sunday photo thread is operating in stealth mode this week.

SPANKY must be on vaca, huh? Can I start Sunday's fun page?

Dennis, Maybe you should put some half dead batteries in the Humvee for him to drive.

Steve, Don't forget to check in now and then even if you have the trains stored away for the Summer.

Jean and I spent the morning taking out the old water bed interior and installing one of the sleep number air beds in its place. Quite a job but we are done. Will give it a test tonight. Heading to the Son's for a cookout later.

Hope everone has a fun 4th of July. Don't forget to fly your flags!

Oh, I will, I need to keep abreast of the donuts, tomatoes, births, train pics, weather in Ohio, Texas, California, layout delvelopments, ect.

You miss to much if you miss the caboose crowd.

Now I am off to the ATM. Wife is gone today at her sisters, she is a shut in. By the way my mom, age 85 is in the hospital. I think we may lose here.

So I am going up there and see here then my sister in law, make an AA meeting and then pretty much do someing for me.

Love that BUBB&A Line. Habe a bubba's BBQ box car on that?
