A REBS buddy from this forum shared this with me. Had seen it before. Very good.
TRAIN TRIP:
One morning, three Southerners and three Yankees were in a ticket

counter line at a train station. The three Northerners each bought a

ticket and watched as the three Southerners bought just one ticket.

"How are the three of you going to travel on only one ticket?" asked

one of the Yankees.

"Watch and learn," answered one of the boys from the South.

All six boarded the train where the three Yankees sat down, but the

three Southerners crammed into a toilet together and closed the door.

Shortly after the train departed, the conductor came around to

collect tickets. He knocked on the toil et door and said, "Ticket, please.

The door opened just a crack and a single arm emerged with a ticket in

hand. The conductor took it and moved on. The Yankees saw this

happen and agreed it was quite a clever idea. Indeed, so clever they

decided to do the same thing on the return trip and save some money.

That afternoon when they got back to the station, they bought a

single ticket for the return trip and watched, while to their astonishment,

the three Southerners didn't buy even one ticket.

"How are you going to travel without a ticket?" asked a perplexed

Yankee.

"Watch and learn," answered the three Southern boys in unison. When

they boarded the train, the three Northerners crammed themselves into

a toilet and the three Southerners crammed into another toilet just

Down the way.

Shortly after the train bega n to move, one of the Southerners left

their toilet and walked over to the toilet in which the Yankees were

hiding. The Southerner knocked on the door and said, "Ticket, please."

There's just no way on God's green earth to explain how the Yankees ever
won the war.

Doug,

Walt Rapp started the sunday foto fun; probably on page 15 by now. It was rather short as folks were BBQing and generally very lax and loafing. IOW, not really running trains.[:D]

Hey Chief, they get all giddy about the one train they stole, but never mention the 50+ engines and 380 railcars that Stonewall Jackson got on a little raid in hostile territory. You can see the details on the Voyages program on History International the episode is on War Trains.

Anyway, have a good night everyone.

Good evening everyone,

Haven't checked in since yesterday afternoon and had a lot to catch up on.

Mitch, you are starting to repeat yourself. [:)]

John, [bday] Hope you had a good one.

Finished the cloud background for my layout extension today. Now I can work on finishing that section of layout with buildings and scenery.

Good night.

No layout work tonight didn't get home until late. We were interviewing to replace a teacher who is resigning in about 2 weeks. It's getting to be our busy season with hiring, scheduling and preparing for school to reopen.

Happy Birthday John![:D][:D]

Again, I find myself behind the lines on a special raid. I'm in the deep south where they serve grits and sugar tea that rots your teeth. [:D] Can't wait to get back to beautiful Ohio, where the sky is blue and the grass is green. Have you noticed how easy it is for me to infiltrate the south? It is raining tonight with flash flood warnings. [:(]

Chief,

That sure was a good joke. I'm going to have to remember that trick for when I take the train down to Nawth Carolina. If you take me out for some Southern BBQ, and maybe a trip to Miss Edna's, I'll help you with your benchwork and scenery. Deal?

[code]Good Morning from Blueberryhill[/code]It is 58 degrees and sunny. Going up to 78 and staying sunny
all day. That's a nice day.
I have to cut grass today. Neighbor fella did the side hill for me last night. That's the
hard section for me. The rest I can do in two days. The wife helps me and we finish
it in one day. Things are getting better. It's nice being outside.
Tried to get ahold of Marty last night from Ma & Pa Junction, but he must have gotten
tied up. He has a Williams set of Madisons, that I want. Hope I catch him today.
Buckeye.......You are right. The Rebs don't know when you infiltrate the
South. They are too busy complaining about losing the war.
Well, time for breakfast. I will be back later.
Y'all have a great day.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and cooler in SE Indiana with temps heading to high 70s/low 80s today. Our team won last night 4-0. If we win or tie next week, we clinch a first round bye in the playoffs. I see where Italy plays France for the World Cup on Sunday. It should be a good game. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

HI GIZ,
BEAUTY of aday here.
Ran a nice easy3.25 this morning.
Yesterday had to run on treadmill, did 5 pretty boaring.
Break out the GOLF clubs this afternoon and hope to get the WHUPPING stick out for my brother?

BIG NEWS here, I dismantled my layout.
NO trains for a few weeks.
Moveing things around for the plumbers.
Took me 8 hours to take everything apart.
Felt a little sad but will be better in the long run.
New layout will have bigger curves and probably more room?

OH YES HAPPY BELATED BITHDAY JOHN!!!
Hope you got something with flanged wheels?

Happy Friday Eve.

Another beautiful day here in paradise, er northeastern Illinois. Didn't feel well last night. Maybe something I ate. Anyway, will take it easy to day with work and all. Maybe have some train-running therapy later.

Laz, I feel your pain - though the thought of what new things you can do with the next layout sure is fun! I've really enjoyed it. Are you going to put up the same track plan?

Good Morning,

Just have to mention this. Got my Aug/Sept Issue of the other magazine. The editor writes about his carpet layout and also has a picture. There is still hope of seeing the Chief's layout in print! [:D] [:D] [:D]

Also a nice article on a really neat 4' X 8' layout and an article on Tony Lash's layout.

Now for the disclaimer (I am a longtime reader and subscriber of 3 Kalmbach Train Mags)

Laz, Did you decide on a track or still pondering your decision?

We got another .9" of rain last night. Forecast is for dryer and cooler for a few days.

Enjoy your trains.

Yanks have a deserter in their ranks. Buckeye is slipping down South to get grits and sweet ice tea. [:0][:D] We have won another one. [^]

Morning all. Raining and that is good. Refreshing the grass, garden, flowers and making the pond run over the spillway. [^]

Another one wants to desert. Jim A, is wanting Eastern NC bar-be-que and I am sure he will get sweet ice tea. [^] It is a short time comming. They all want to move South for the quality life. [^]

Chief,
I'd make the move in a New York minute. It's my wife that loves it here. Why don't you move up this way? Lots of land for sale in New Hampshire . . .

Doug,
Take it slow and feel better. I was going to call you today, just to shoot the bull, but I'll do so when you're feeling better.

Getting ready for our vacation. We're leaving Saturday, the 15th for Lake Ossipee, NH. Thomas the tank engine is going to be at the Conway Scenic RR the next day and I just happen to have 5 tickets.

I've got a whole list of things I want to do while the fam enjoys the sun at the lake. I'm not a sun person. There's a few nice train shops in the area, a lot of antique stores, and a great WWII museum to check out.

Going to pick up all my new train loot tonight at the hobby store. A set of 4 NYC streamliners will look pretty good behind our NYC steamer, the Polar Express Berk, or even our 671, even though it's a Pennsy.

Greetings,
Went to the Hi-Railers club last night and took the TMCC equiped BEEPS (2) and the UP Speeder. Kinda received mixed feelings from your crazy, they don't belong on the layout, to WOW that's great. The speeder was running down the track perfect , right now it is quiet, but I will resolve that with a siren and flashing beacon on top. I tried to convince everyone that the task of the speeder was to provide escort service for the bigger engines. Som guys accepted tahat. The really funny thing is I wanted to see if it would manuver the switches due to the short distance of the pickup rollers. Heck the silly thing crossed the switches fine, regardless if it was even set in the right position. The momentum just carried it thru.

I think there great they provide a "break" in the action of all the other rolling stock, and visitors love 'em.

Steve,
You may be able to make a ramrod from a large paint roller on a dowel stick. The ball size looks like those balls in the kids ball pit at Chucky Cheese. Maybe a craft store? Painted black they would look great for display.

Afternoon all. My Buddy [adopted brother in Kerrville TX] will be posting pictures of his re-build of his layout. This should be good. I love for him to spend his $$$$ on trains instead of buying a new bass boat every six months. [:0] He blames me for his train adiction. All I did was send my Great Nephew [his Grandson] a Thomas the Tank Train. [;)] GrandDad [better known as Pops] is the one that went wild. [:)] We just ahd a chat a couple of hours ago. Can't wait to see what he has done now. Later.

Don--

I like your attitude! It would have been fun to be a mouse in the corner and watch all the reactions, WAY TO GO! Some folks just take themselves a bit too seriously and forget to have fun.

A week ago we had a huge family picinic and it was the adults who couldn't wait to see our layout plus they were the last ones to leave the train room. The kids also had a fine time but they had the best time playing in the timber and touch football.
