Saw an interesting promo on tv a little bit ago. The show that Oliver North does on Fox at 5PM, eastern and pacific, is about some of the sports stars that gave up parts of their careers to join the military in WWII and Korea. [tup][^]

That was a wonderful time in the history of this country. A time when Hollywood stars actually dropped what they were doing to see how they could help, instead of sitting on high horses and criticizing our president and the military. I met a guy who was a pitcher for the Reds, he and his team mates dropped everything and signed up. He was a Marine in the pacific and saw plenty of action. His name was Remsa. I will try to tune in if my kids let me.
Thanks for the heads up,
Dennis

Just noticed that I only have 35 more posts till my 4th star..... Oh well, I guess I won't make 4 and won't make 5, so I can't join the 5 star General Club, but I am proud to know several good ones. Have a great day and God Bless, Dennis

Dennis, the "gang" met and promoted you to 5 Star General since you are a good old Southern Boy [well adopted] that likes GRITS and SWEET ICE TEA. [;)] [^] That goes for all the rest of the regulars [North and South] that have not made it yet. [:)][^]

Hi all,

I thought we would be shut down by now. Didn't see a shutdown time posted.

One last post before the change over to the new format.

No train activity yet today. Two of the grandkids coming over this evening, maybe we will run some trains then.

Don, Just ask your "non-technical" questions here on the pot. We won't get uptight about it here.

Hope to be back on Tuesday, if I can figure out the new software.

As they say, it takes a computer to screw things up really good, so I hope to be able to chat with you folks in the near future [:D]

Back from the lake. Tired. [8D]

Chuck, I received your email and will get back to you.[:D]

Does anyone want any of my stars before the change over? Will we need to do our profile signatures over? [?] I hope that post about my benchwork can be found again. I seem to re-post that topic about every 3-4 months, and it is great to be asked by the people that really are looking to build a layout. [:D]

Well, I guess this is my last post here before the official conversion tomorrow. And I am nowhere near four stars so I know for sure I am out of the running star-wise. But it's ok though, I award myself a 5-star general [:)] But I like four stars though, I like being a captain, and four is one of my favorite numbers.

Had a very quiet day, looking forward to my Gundersons that should be shipping tomorrow. Also planning on getting some Gargraves track to try out on the floor for awhile so I am going to try to design a simple track plan. Also want to try some of the Ross switches too. They say that Ross switches are the Rolls-Royces of switches so I would like to put that theory to the test.

Thinking of cutting my cable as I rarely watch hardly any TV so I am thinking on just getting rid of the cable channels and keeping the internet. Extra fifty bucks I spend on cable could have gotten a new freight car.

Until next time, take care everyone.

Still going?

Hey, Roy - apparently I got blacklisted on email -- sorry if I offended you in any way.

Went to put on the new coach lights my wife bought for the house while I was laid up with surgery. Got one almost on and found that the metal base was bigger than the siding "plaque" thing the siders put on. Family ran up to Lowes and we picked out some new ones - don't like them as well, but they are okay. Finally got them on and stood back to look from the street. Turns out, the plaque fixtures on the siding are not even! The one on the left is like 1 inch higher (or more) than the one on the left! I'll be calling John Beal Inc tomorrow and see when they can get someone out to fix it!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hi Jim,

Not sure what you are talking about. I do not have any mails from you in my inbox or antispam folders. Did you get a reject from my server maybe (Comcast)?

See you guys in a couple of days!

HI guys,

NIce to be home/ Spent the night with my folks to get away from the Motorcycle Madness here in G'burg. We went out on the river and into the Chesapeake Bay with some old friends on their boat today. Got back and had some steamed crabs, corn on the cob, fre***omatoes, and BBQ chicken. What a wonderful relaxing day.

State auditors coming to check our financial practices and procedures tomorrow. I just love auditors. If they don't find something wrong, so we have to correct our procedures, they'd be out of a job. Oh well. It goes with the job.

See you guys in a few days in the new forum.

Mitch

Happy Monday Morning Guys,

It is a little wet here in WNY this morning. It should clear out a little later. The weekend was busy and as usual I need a weekend to recover from the weekend!

Buckeye- Glad to see you got home from the lake ok. I hope you had a good weekend there.

I will talk to you all sometime after the shutdown and the new forum is up. Maybe I should change my forum name...

Have a great day everyone!

HI GIZ,
Beauty of a day here.
About 58 and nice.
Ran my 6 miles this morn and lifted weights.

New layout is going GREAT!
Got all the bench work done.
DOUG, the new layout is 8 X 16 with a 6 X8 toe on the left side.
No it will not have the same track plan. Still didn't figure that out yet byt got some idears going in my head.

JELECTRIC, went down to BARRYs on Saturday morning and went with the 0-72 fastrack. Had a bunch of the other fastract so I figured what the heck might as well go with it. Now I will use either 0-54 or 0-42 Lionel tubular track on the inside of the 0-72.
WOW, I have loads of this 0-27 track and got to use it up some where.

Today going to dry place some of the buil;dings down to see what it will look like.
Probably going to have abou 4 or five big loops? Going with an easy track plan, no switches.
Can't wait to get started again.
Been waking up earlier and doing lots o thinking on this.
All have a good one.

I'm back - had a good time at the Busch race this weekend in Joliet - had fun driving alongside the former Santa Fe RoW on old Rte. 66 through Coal City (IL). They were selling everything, Chuck, pins and all - half a mile of driver trailers selling their loot - I just bought a pair of ear plugs! Cloudy and cool here in Chicago - see you all when the forum comes back up in a few days.

Turning your back on 027 track, Laz - I am speechless [;)]

Well I made it back.  Wasn't too hard but would have been nice to have been warned that you would need your account number.  I don't save mailing labels.  The lookup feature worked which kind of surprised me.

Will see where this post ends up.

Looking at the URL address, it looks like my "FAVORITES" entry will need to be changed.  Will have to do it on several computers.  Lets see how long it takes me to get back here after closing IE.

Don't like not being able to look at the thread while typing a response.  My memory isn't that good.  All I see is the post I am replying to.
