Doug - thanks for the lego info, sounds interesting. I think Lego is having some financial problems based on stuff I read in the past few months. I guess it's hard to get the kids interested in legoes instead of video games and stuff nowadays.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Roy, My bad, CTT got the message to me, but I was a bit swamped. I sent you a message to fill you in. I did not have any cases today, so I spent the day building one of those wooden swing set/playground deals in 100 degree temps. Ugh! Anyway, I think I gave you enough information to fill in any spare time.

Chief, I am glad to see that you are feeling better. I think I need to move near you so that you can cut my grass also. Only 3 acres, but with that John Deere, you should be able to knock it out quickly. Anyway, I am laying off the auctions for the time being. Have to make a major track purchase soon, so I don't want to tempt my wifes good nature.

Take care,
Dennis

Morning folks. Another beautiful day on tap. Temps in the low 80's with beautiful clear skies forecast.

Had a nice time at the wedding. It's nice to see a young couple so in love.

Today we are off to my Mom & Dad's to celebrate Dad's b'day with family. Downloaded Dad an audio book and burned it to CD's so he can listen to it in his truck or in the house. His dial up connection is so slow it'd probably take him a month to download an audio book. They live about 90 minutes from here near BWI airport. There will be plenty of good food and laughter. I really enjoy our times together.

Watched the Busch race last night. Casey Mears can't seem to catch a break. Today's the big enchilada for Motorsports with the Indy 500 and the Coca Cola 600 on the same day. My eyeballs will be spinnin in circles before the nights over after watching all the racing action.

Have a great day.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill
It is 60 degrees and sunny. Going up to 82
and sunny. That's summer. Love it.
Buckeye...Welcome home. Hope you had a good time. Story time.
Chief....Has been a real pain. Whinning about air lines not serving
him GRITS in 1968 because he couldn't prove he was a Rebel. Uniform did it.
Today is the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. Lots of races. Plus a ball game.
Have to go outside to appreciate the beautiful weather. Maybe, take a walk. I go a little
farther each day. Legs feel good. Sleeping great.
Well, I hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day Sunday. Keep smiling.
Y'all have a great day.

Well looks like summer is now here. Temperatures are going up. Got back from Dallas yesterday for a break from the playoffs. Looks like I'll be mowing the lawn, cleaning up from the dishwasher install and work out. Then hang out.

Typical holiday weekend, granddaughters and wife are in the pool, yes its finally completed, ribs are marinating, been to HD for an extra tank of propane, just in case, and the final fittings I neede to hook up the filter. I was going to watch the Indy race but, with hot weather, we loose the ABC signal from Atlanta during the day, get some sort of override from another station somewhere. At least FOX is watchable and I should be able to catch the NASCAR race.

Check with y'all later.

Hi all,

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Weather here is beautiful. Just got back from the range with Son & Grandson. They wanted to shoot my M1. Had a fun day, also did a little pistol shooting.

Sounds like everyone on the coffee pot is healthy at the moment. Good!

Welcome back Buckeye. Let's see some fish pictures.

Enjoy the weekend.

Very hot here in northeastern Illinois. A/c is on for the first time this year - thank goodness it works. We had a long church service with all our family doing something in it - I was up so early I may take a nap - or on 2nd thought, I'm going in the nice cool basement to try out the switch fix that Bob suggested.

Well I can just see it now, the ACLU will be sueing NASCAR because they offended a couple of people out in left armpit USA by having to hear "Amazing Grace". [swg] It probably will not happen but in my opinion to much similar [censored] occurs daily .

Not that it matters much, but I will definetly poll in with the Chief, and Doug on this one. When I came back to the "World" I was so ecstactic, it was and to this day the happiest day of my life!. And, being briefed by staff at McClennan AFB, to downplay that you a Viet Nam vet, and expect to be "shunned". Sorry, it doesn't work for me, I left too many friends to deny them their duly deserved respect. Everyone I knew was doing what we thought was in the best interest of OUR country. I too have prejudices especially towards B of A, and the financing that they had done for the North. Its hard to forget those wounds, especially regarding those that didn't come back. How long is enough before you "just" forget them. Pretty tuff to do!!

Hope and pray it doesn't happen again!

Sorry for the rant, but tired of the issue always being the fault of the guys that served. They lived it and know what their talking about.

Roy: I got a kick out of that one, wait till The Chief sees it !! [:D][:D]

John - Thanks for the comment. In all fairness I have notice in the past couple of years, bumper stickers and window decals displaying the VN campaign ribbon, and more open acknowledgement, maybe ALL of us are mellowing with age. And, I don't know of ANY of the vets, that have negative fellings to those that choose not serve at that time. If I had to choose between my formal education and the military, the military made me more the person I am. (I think is good).

Train Stuff......

Major accomplishment ! I had been trying to resolve a layout with 72" diameter track. FINALLY did it!! Total happiness here! Dougdagrump was right just don't give up on it, it only took me 5 months.

Spankybird/Tom - If it has wheels or a motor and they race it, I'll watch it. One of my favorite motorsports are the hydroplanes. My dad's cousins run hydros and we have been out to Dayton a couple of times to watch the races, also been to Lake Wheeler in NC, as well as Easton Maryland to watch the boats race. I love the strategy of the flying starts.

Good evening everyone, hot and muggy day here in Houston for the most part. Main thing I don't miss about Texas here is the heat. Anyway after attending church with my mom we went out to Sugarland to celebrate my my nephew's 2nd birthday with my sister and her hubby at Chuck E Cheese. Turned out to be a pretty good party. But I sure felt old in that place. After that stopped at my grandparents house for a bit then came home. Took a nice nap and made up the milk earlier to make some homemade ice cream for tomorrow.

Only one more full day here in the south before I make the return flight back home on Tuesday evening to the cooler temps of Michigan, which I do miss.

I gotten a new Metal Hydride 9-volt rechargeable battery from Radio Shack yesterday to replace the de-funct MTH battery in my brother's PS1 SF F3 AA unit, and replaced the bulb too. Now its back in great shape as it should be.

Well, gonna fix me some popcorn now and watch some Three Stooges. A salute to all of the war veterans out there for the Memorial Day weekend.

Yes, I’m back and of course I have a story or two about the trip to Canada. This was my tenth consecutive year going to Northern Ontario to fish. We left Buckeyeland on Saturday, real early in the morning and arrived at the camp at 9:00pm, parked the boat and about an hour later headed to bed. The next morning when I awoke and looked out the bedroom window this is what I saw:

It had snowed during the night. It continued to snow that morning as we rigged up the rods and reels in the warmth of the cabin. After lunch, it was still cold but we put the boat in the water and headed to one of our favorite northern pike fishing holes. As we sat there in the small cove, it started to snow again with sleet mixed in for good measure.

On Monday, the weather really cleared up and it looked like this:

On Tuesday, we decided to go to one of the best places on the lake for fish. It is was to be a ½ hour ride by boat. After cruising for about 10 minutes we encountered large amounts of debris, i.e. logs and trees in the water and slowed down considerably. The thump was not real loud, however the vibration in the wheel was very noticeable after we hit the 2 1/2” .beaver stick in the water. Raising the engine, we could see that the prop was broken and bent. Only one thing to do and that was change the prop, but where do you park an 18 foot boat to work on the prop? There are no docks and the shore is lined with massive rocks, above and below water. Our solution was a big stump where we tied off and then I went overboard to fix the prop. I balanced on the stump while the other guys handed me the tools.

As you can see the prop was beat up really good but it is repairable.

As to fish, yes we caught some nice fish. This is one evening’s catch. We threw back many small walleye.

And this is the one that didn’t get away.

As you can see the weather cleared up nicely

I did use the GPS to get us home on Thursday night. We were fishing about 5 miles from the lodge, when a dense fog set in over the water. You could not see 50 yards. We turned on the running lights, opened the front window and proceded to use the GPS to guide us back to camp with two boats w/o GPS following us.

For those who are interested, here is the web site of the lodge.
http://totomenailodge.com/index.html

And finally, a big salute to all of the veterans out there on this 2006 Memorial Day.

See ya down the tracks, [:D]

Doug - There's more than two. We only spent a day in San Diego, but we love the place. The Mrs. and I have two free airline tickets earned on a credit card that we need to use. My vote was for San Diego. We'll see who wins[;)][;)][;)]. I'll have to go online and check out the dates for the thunderboat races.

Buckeye - The fishing expedition looked like a great success. Your first day out reminds me of my last trip fishing on the Chesapeake Bay with a friend. The rockfish weren't biting so we went back into one of the rivers to fish for some perch. While we were drifting along, the boat motor quit, we coiuldn't get it to restart and we had to call for a tow. It took 2+ hours for the towing company to get there and over an hour to get towed back to his place. It was still a great day because the only thing better than a day at the races (or riding a train) is a day out on the river or bay. My buddy just got a new boat and we hope to go out for a day soon.
