Buckeye, my 20 month old looked at your pictures and said "BIG FISH". I hear those walleye are the best eating fish. Pretty country up that way.

John, I too have a M1 as well as a carbine, a 03 springfield, all great weapons, and as mentioned, just watch when closing the bolt. It is great to see other shooters and many who have served and continue to serve. GOD BLESS our troops!!!!!!!!!!!!! I 4F-ed out of the Airforce- busted my knee.

Hope Y'ALL have a good day and just a thought, it has been my practice that if I see a soldier in uniform when out to eat, I pay their bill, don't make a big deal of it, just tell the waitress you will get the tab, and to tell them thanks for serving.

A glorious and hot Memorial Day morning here in Illinois. Hot, did I mention hot?

Buckeye, what a great trip! The photos are inspiring. Looks like the part of Upper Michigan I'm going to in a few months for dad-son camp.

I was up too late last night cutting up the green sandpaper LifelIke calls its grass sheets into mountains and hills and posting it against the backdrop. Maybe later I'll move it around a bit more but using carpet tape to stick it up. I decided to do some fun things (to me) about scenery before tackling wiring again though I did get 4 trains going temporarily at the same time.

I've been reading about the San Diego museum for years - some day I'd like to go - and ride the downtown trollies...

Tried to use the grill last night and it just didn't get hot. Have to figure out what's wrong - maybe I'm running out of fuel or something's clogged. But ended up using the broiler in the oven and eating v. late - like Chuck, sat in the shade listening to a ball game. Hope to visit with our neighbors who are moving back to the 'carnage' as they describe it of southern Mississippi on the Gulf.

Good Morning Everyone !! Wow, Buckeye sure had a great fishing trip, & good thing he had a spare prop with him ! About 30 years ago I went fishing with 5 other guys in Canada, up in the Kippawa Reserve area. Ate fish everyday !
Well, today we may be off to the parade in a couple hours !
Doug: hope you get the grill going, I have found spiders or bugs have clogged up the little orfices in the past from sitting all winter !
Dennis; that's a great thing to do for a service person !!
Hope everyone has a nice day !!
Thanks,

Tom,
What do you mean "lost the war", it isn't over yet![;)] I have a new strategy, we can just invite all the yankee troops down during the summer and not give em any sweet tea. Won't be long before the heat gets to em. Just kidding. Have a good one.

Morning all. Fish???? Gone a week to the great northland of fish and no more than that??? Gracious me. The pike is a fighter but not much for eating. Now those walleye. [:D] Waiting for UPS to deliver overnighted frozen walleye. [;)] Got the email with all the pictures. Mostly saw eating and drinking [and I am sure plenty of sleeping]. [;)]

Converted a General Mills era U36B [one of the custom paints I did in CN] to TMCC and Railsounds 4.0. Was not that hard. Was the first AC motored one I have done. Cut out the fuel tank bottom with hole saw, glued in plastic screening, jammed speaker in [just did fit] and away she went. Sounds are not quite as loud as I would like but work great. Boards just do fit [narrow shell]. Performance is great.

WAR!!!! Still going on. Raiding into New England tomorrow. Will hit the Apitz homestead tomorrrow afternoon and evening. Will be good to see him and the kids again. Think I will take gallons of sweet ice tea and convert his kids to good old Southerners. [:0] Might slip a bag of grits in there too. [:)]

Chief,

I suppose it was a tough job, but somebody had to do it...[8D][8D][8D]. Tarheel Regatta has some great races. Last time we went my Dad's cousin was running in front in his heat race and hit a submerged log or something and tore a hole in the bottom of the boat. Hydros don't run real well with a hole in the bottom. His racing was over for that weekend[:(][:(][:(]. Towed to the East Coast from Colorado just to race and it was over in a heartbeat.

Have a great day.

Chief,
The camera didn't take too good of pictures in the dark, and you know that is when we catch most of the walleyes. [8D] This year was an off year even though our cabin caught the most of any one in camp. Too many cold fronts went throgh in too short of time and the walleyes were not biting.

If you know how to clean pike and how to cook pike, they are really good. [;)]

Saw the largest black bear I have ever seen in the wild, just two miles south of town. The moose were plentiful, too.

Good morning all,

Great pictures Buckeye.

Dennis, I have the same ones you have. The grandkids love to shoot the carbine. Will shoot all the amo I can afford! [:D] I used to shoot the ' 03 in 30 calibre matches at a local club until they changed the matches to Sunday morning. Not to happy about that.

Chief, Did you use TAS for the conversion. I did a willams FA-1 some time ago and I was a little disapointed in the sound volume also. I drilled a series of holes in the bottom of the fuel tank for a speaker grill and thought that might be the problem but if your method didn't give better sound than it probably isn't my problem. With the volume all the way up I only get about half the volume as my Atlas units which also use TAS systems.

Hope everyone has a nice holiday.

Keep the those who gave their all in your hearts.

Hello Everyone,
I just got home from Florida not 5 minutes ago. We did so much, and it was a lot of fun. I see I missed a lot. Well, the best part of Disney was the fact that I went to the behind the scenes tour of the Disney Railroad. I have Video and a few pics.

Hello All,

You have to love snow in May, makes me think of Alaska!

I did an upgrade of a Lionel SP SD-9 to TMCC, using the electronics from a GP-9 carcass. The sound system sounded great in the GP-9, clear and plenty loud. Everything went into the SD-9 fine except the speaker enclosure. Since the SD-9 has three axle trucks, the GP-9 fuel tank/speaker box wouldn't fit. The speaker fit fine in the SD-9s fuel tank, though (same size speaker in both engines) so I figured it would work fine. It doesn't. The volume is low and doesn't sound clear at all. The SD-9 fuel tank is not a sealed box like the fuel tank in the GP-9. That is the only difference between them, so it must be pretty critical to the operation of the speaker. I get the feeling most of the sound is going up into the shell of the loco. If I'm ever home long enough to figure out how to seal it, I'll give an update.

Scratch - great to hear from you! Good luck on your new house! Living in FL you won't be scratch building much - except when you are battened down for hurricanes!

Colin - welcome back. Glad you had a good time at Disney.

John, I thought the fuel tank against the solid frame would have done better. I used DD. On the conversion of the MTH PS1, I am going to use the original two speakers and see how that does. I will call DD and see what suggestion he makes. Pigseye [who never drops by] has done several conversions. Maybe he will "peep" in and says something on the subject.

Well, rested, napped and then washed car and truck. Then ran the soaker hoses so everything will be OK while I'm gone. We need rain [everyone around us has had plenty but bad stuff with it]. Later

Welcome back Colin, glad you had a great vacation.

Temps reached 90 again this afternoon. We could sure use some rain. I had the soaker hose on the foundation shrubs this afternoon before the heat and lack of water gets to them.

The girls were over with their Mom, ex-daughter-in-law, to spend some time in the pool. She brought some home made BBQ for supper, mmmmm, sure was good.

With playing life gaurd I haven't had much time to do more than peek in the train room to make sure everything is ok.

Hi gang... Just checking in. Actually had a few minutes to run trains today.

All the realtors love the train layout. You never know, all I need to find is someone who loves trains, horses, living on a mountain in the snow, with a lot of loot....Tim

Morning everyone,

It sounds like everyone had a nice holiday weekend. It had to be the warmest one I can remember in a long time. It doesn't get into the 90's here in May very often. Later this week it will be down into the 70's again. We had a nice family picnic in the yard yesterday. Played some frisbee golf and had some good food. It was very warm cooking over the grill.

The hard part today will be remembering it is Tuesday and not Monday. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and hot in SE Indiana with temps and humidity heading to the 80s today. My family and I watched a great race Sunday at Indianapolis. It was the second closest finish in the history of the race! I did get to run the standard gauge a little on Monday, but even three fans could not keep me entirely cool. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning. Off ot Yankeeland [NH]. Rebel flag will be planted up there. [;)] If all goes well, should be visiting the Apitz compound [guess that is what it is called up Nawth as we call them plantations down South] before afternoon is over. Usually take rain were ever I go. Hope I don't his time as they have had enough for the whole year. Speaking of rain, we need some.

Speaking of missing out. Where has Dr. John gone???? Guess I had better give him a call and wake him up.

Sure will miss the sweet ice tea while I'm gone but will be back Thursday afternoon late so will not be too bad.
