Good morning all,

I have been away for a while, but I hope to start posting regularly again. It is cloudy and in the 50s in SE Indiana. It may reach 60 today if the sun comes out. We have had a lot of rain here lately, and a tornado hit a place in the county on Friday night. There were no injuries, which was good. We visited the pregnant daughter Sunday, and she is doing better. There was a houseful of people and I think it tired her out. The other daughter had some water in their basement, and after they had piled up a bunch of debris behind their garage for trash pickup, someone tried to set it on fire. The police said there had been several other incidents like that in the neighborhood so it was not aimed at them specifically. On top of that, she and her husband both got sick as well. Needless to say, it was an interesting Easter weekend for them.
I have not read all the postings, but I am glad to hear Chuck is home and doing better. I will get caught up when I have time. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good afternoon!

We could use some rain down here, too. Cloudy today, but chances of rain are slim at best. Warm and breezy. Feels more like June than April today.

Busy week ahead. Having some work done on the house, so I'm constantly making runs home to check on things. At least the work is progressing (just touch up and repair stuff that my builder is doing - nothing major) and should be done by the end of next week.

Have a good day!

Welcome home Chuck and thnaks for the good news!

LAZ - I will be roaming around at YORK. I tend to gravitate back to the Orange Hall on a regular basis. I leave tomorrow (6:30 am [xx(] flight), so I will out from the forum until I return next weekend.

I agree that any CTT forumites should meet at the CTT Booth at 12 noon on Friday. I bet Bob Keller will buy us some LUNCH! [dinner] right??

We can go outside for a group photo!

Chief - you will be watering your foundation next! Call us TEXANS up for advice on how to do that! [C):-)] No rain here either. Bad news!

JO - don't you just love kitchen technology! Just give me an ON, OFF, and a temp dial.

Gonna be hot here today. 93 at noon. Might hit 99!

Have a great day all!

Upper 80's again today. Should cool down into the 70's later this week. No rain now in two weeks, we could also use some.

Chuck, hope the next step is a breeze compared to what you've been through. I'll be praying for you.

Broke down and bought that new lawn tractor today, a J.D. 145. Stopped in on the way home this morning and they delivered it around 3. Bought it from the local dealer rather than from Lowe's, or HD. Belive in dealing locally when there is no major cost advantage, same as getting trains.

I think I've everything ready as it'll ever be for the photo shoot this Thurday. I hope no gremlins pop up.

Roy, you do not have to water your foundation in NC. Not the same soil makeup.
Roger B, you are in the big times now. Nothing runs like a DEERE. [:D]

Got rain. 1.5 tenths. Not inches. Raleigha nd others got a lot more. Hole right over Rolesville when you watched the radar. Everyone else was red but we had light yellow and then green. Some down east showed rotations. Think there was some minor damages. I had just finished putting out grub killer so it got wet some. Now breezy and turning a lot cooler. Of to watch a movie with wife on DVD.

Hi all,

We had a great day with the family at my son's place yesterday.

Chuck, glad to hear you are feeling good after the stay in the hospital. Do you realize that you are going back into the hospital on the first day of York? You can send some of that rain East to PA also. We are down a couple of inches for the year.

Laz & Roy & anyone else coming to York, will see you Friday noon at the CTT booth.

Steam fans take note:

Union Pacific 4-8-4 No. 844 is going on the road later this month.
OMAHA - Union Pacific's 4-8-4, No. 844, will begin a 35-day, 10-state tour celebrating the railroad's history and heritage beginning April 27, the railroad announced today.

The above is an item from the Trains magazine train wire news. If interested you can check out the details there.

I think I finished up the project I was working on today. If no more changes come up I can be retired again for a while, I hope a long while.

All have a good evening.

Hello All! Chuck- Glad you're doing well & hope you get even better after you have your surgery. The CTT Forum Gang sure is lucky to go to York this week. Hope to go there someday myself. I wonder if they'll let Laz take his 800lb Bear to York? All they need is some Peanut Butter & Honey to keep the Bear happy. Take Care all.

Brokeback Mountain. HUMMM Unusual movie. I knew about the "gay" thing but did not realize it was the whole theme. Some good acting and scenery [might have been up PE Tim's way even though it said Wyoming]. Wife bought it. Everyone at her work said, "I can't believe you bought that." and in the same breath, "I want to borrow it." [:0]

Now sleepy time. Roseyville Town Board meeting tomorrow night.

Good night and God bless.

Hey everyone, pretty good evening for the most part but somewhat ended on a frustrated note. Gotten all the materials to do the DCS upgrades today; gotten the remote to upgrade with no problem, but the TIU I had a heck of a time getting it upgraded, and I still can't get it to upgrade. Followed all of the instructions to the letter, and closed all open programs, but each time it would attempt to run the programming sequence, the percentage goes up at say about 10-12 percent and then suddenly stops and the program freezes. Numerous attempts would yield the same result. A few tries later the percentage bar went up to 27 percent before it stopped and froze. Not sure why its doing that.

But it is frustrating me though, so I am just going to give it a rest for the night, and maybe try again tomorrow sometime. If it doesnt work then I will see if I can find a different PC with a serial port and try it again, and if that doesnt work, I may just consider takin it back and get my $300 back and just use it to pay off the engine in layaway. In a way I see why some would prefer conventional control; its frustrating to get command stuff to work or upgrade properly.

Have a great night everyone.

Good morning to all from Gettysburg, PA. It is currently 48 with highs forecast for 68 degrees.

Hope that Roy and the others making the journey to York have a safe trip. Short work week for me. Tuesday and Wednesday at school. Thursday an all day meeting out of school and Friday to York.[:D]

Lots of yard work down on my knees yesterday. Feeling it today. Maybe I never should have built that benchwork. That may be why the Chief hasn't built any yet. He want to keep his knees in shape for yard work.[;)][;)][;)][}:)][}:)][}:)]

I spent the afternoon with the kids yesterday. Then I worked on scenery for the layout. Big changes for the station area.

I'm flattered to have an entire forest named afterme, Doug! Those trees look great. And the color seems pretty good. You didn't paint them?

Chief,
That long green thing attached to the side of your house is a hose. People use it to irrigate plants when they don't get enough rain. Turn the dial counterclockwise for water.[;)]

Morning all,
Chief, say it aint so...you watch that movie? Anyway, just kidding. Heading to Las vegas tonight. We arrive at 11:20pm LV time, well past my bedtime.
Actually got a lot of money back from the Fed yesterday. When my son asked why I had to pay taxes, boy did I have fun answering. Something to do with lots of people who don't want to work depend on us.
Well, have a great day.

Chris - be sure that you follow the directions and don't do any of the steps before the next one. In other words, don't do step six before step five. Also be sure your anti-virus is turned off.

Good Morning to All:

It is supposed to be another great day here in Chicagoland. I can sympathize with everyone's yard chores. The missus had me out the last two weekends doing miscellaneous yardwork. [:(!]

I too, would like to see some photos from forum members attending York. I hope everyone has a great time!

Good morning all,

It is sunny in SE Indiana with the temps headed to the 60s today. I plan to mow the yard with the help of my son. We have two John Deere self-propelled walk behinds (nothing runs likes a Deere!) and it takes us about an hour so I can get the edging done as well. I love daylight savings time as it is daylight even at 8 PM already. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Sunny but cold in downtown Chicago with the wind - I should shut the storm windows at home with the temps in the 40 - 60 range. Gradually things in the yard are coming alive - and not. Lost a lot of grass to the drought and a few bushes I foolishly cut back too much - ah well. I'm having better luck with fake tress.
Jim, I didn't paint them - the filter was blu-ish - kind of like a 'blue spruce'. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your work. I've been cutting these trees rather flat - nearly 2 dimentional - since they are viewed from only one angle.

Great site, Doug. Thanks for the link!

Feels almost like summertime here in Alabama. Very warm and humid today. Supposed to cool down a bit the next day or so. No rain in the forecast, unfortunately.

Need to put some weed and feed on the lawn. I like Bermuda grass, but it's not low-maintenance.

Have a good afternoon!

It gets a lot of workout when no rain. We are still under water restrictions form last summer. [:(][V] I put down soaker hoses by all the plants in the garden. Saves water when irrigating.

Good trip Dennis. Yuall have fun. [:)] OH, I guess you want to borrow that movie too. [;)]

Busy morning [where is everyone? well all that counts has checked in! mostly SOUTHERNERS [;)]]

Took Peek to groomer. Cell phone ran gon the way back. Went downhill. Been on phone about town business and emails. Had to go to Town Hall and meet with staff. TB meeting tonight. Can go to Kerr Lake for rest of the week and weekend but got meetings all day tomorrow. Man, I was working upstairs today!!!!! Plans shot. Will probably stay home and get some work on layout going. Go to run now. [xx(]

Doug, How come I always remember when I was a kid a southwest wind this time of year. Bringing nice warm temps and playin baseball in shorts and a t=shirt. Lately all we have are north/northeast winds off the lake. Oh well, good memories anyway.
My lawn is in bad shape too. The drought along with my kids playin baseball/football. I've decided to not fight it and put in a batters box and pitching mound for the kids. The grass will never grow in those two areas anyway with them playing on it. Have to find somewhere that sells that infield clay. I would think a few big bags would do it.

Have a good one - GO SOX!
