Hey guys
Anyone listen to the "channels" lately? I am about to listen to the Harrisburg Line right now.

cnw1995 Doug, what kinda bike did you get him. I have been doing that for a while, and last summer I put my money on the counter and bought a $650 Dave Mirra 540 Edition Bike that I had my eye on for a while. Worst part is that he quit riding for Haro, and my bike just happens to be from Haro. He's starting his own company now, and I have to see what frames he will be coming out with.

Well, I just put the NS Harrisburg scanner on, and there are engines that are being inspected because they have not been in a while. Well, Chief, that is what I come to expect from a shortline RR[:O][:O][:D][^][:D][:D][:P][:P][;)]

Today we explore the Jordan valley from about 20 miles south of the Sea of Galilee to a point just above the Dead Sea. Apologies for the poor quality photos as they were taken from a moving bus with dirty windows.

The photos do not conform to any of the dots on the last map I supplied. However, they were taken, in order, from north to south.

The greenery is irrigated farm fields, with water supplied from the Jordan River. The mountains beyond the greenery are in the nation of Jordan. The brown mountains are the Judean hills on the Israeli side of the river, aka the West Bank.

Needless to say, a lot of Bible history occurred along where these photos were taken!

Next stop: The Dead Sea

I can't believe it's 80 here today. Great, Mitch, something to look forward to[;)] but my teenage daughter is already there.
Wow, Colin, that's some bike. It is a Fusion 3 or was it 4? All black with one of those front wheels with a gyro in it so you can spin it.
David, if those are poor photos, I can't imagine what great ones are like - they look more than fine to me.

Ah, the glories of daytime TV (now that the youngest is in bed). the topic on Jerry Springer's show today is 'Morning Grits and Burnt Clothes' - not a lot of teeth between these folks. Got to go run trains

Dave,
Your photos are great! Assuming the train budget is suffering but the travel budget looks to be good. [(-D] I have an alternative for you. The LA High Rollers is holding an open house on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd, your more than welcome as my guest. I will even buy lunch or dinner.

I just spoke to Chuck. He is still in the hospital and should be released tomorrow morning. He is feeling much better and his spirits are high. He certainly has appreciated the short calls from the coffee pot gang. He has gained 5 pounds since his arrival there and says the hospital food there is very good. The fluid in the lung was pushing on his heart and stomach and in addition to the infection, caused him to lose weight and feel so fatigued. He will go home for about 10 days and then he will go back to have a hole in his lung repaired which is what caused the fluid buildup in the first place.

Sunny and pretty warm here. Will hit 90 this weekend. Dallas is putting a water restriction plan in place to start in June if we do not get significant rain. Reservoirs are down to about 85%.

Have a great evening all!

Afternoon everyone,

I just got done running the trains and it was a good release. It is starting to get annoying not being able to go out. I am looking forward to Monday! I just talked to my boys and they are on their way home for the weekend. They'll be here in less than 2 hours from the Buckeye State. Unfortunately, the other 4 kids won't get home for Easter.

David - Great photos again of your vacation.

Mitch - isn't great when your wife encourages you to buy a train? Mine did that when she saw the Southern PS 4 in the Lionel catalog. How could I say no?[swg]

Doug - Hope your little one gets better real soon. I used to hate it when my kids were sick and there was nothing I could do about it.

I posted a topic about trouble I was having with an engine. If any of you can help I'd appreciate it.

Have a nice evening everyone. If it matters to you, take a moment to remember what Good Friday means.

It is a good day today!
Finally, I managed to repair my 8770 Lionel NW2 switcher by placing some rings under the wormwheel. This disables the motor axle to displace too far down when reversing. Now, it finally reverses in a correct manner.
Furthermore, I am planning run a depressed flat with a painted egg and a gondola with bunnies. Just the idea already lifts the spirit.
Nothing beats a finished and restored train car......

Tom - I know what you mean. A few years back my wife encouraged me get the MTH BL2. Probably the most expensive new engine that I have. It runs well, but my current layout is a little small. Maybe in a few years I will build a larger layout using Fastrack. I really like the looks of it. We set up a train layout in our school library last year as part of a reading incentive. If the classes met their reading goals they got to run the train at the end of their library class. My Library Media Specialist won a New York Central starter set at a church raffle and it had a loop of Fastrack. Pretty easy to connect and use.

I know you are probably going stir crazy stuck inside when it is warm and sunny outside. I hope having your sons home will help some.

Take care.

More to Restore, good to see you on here again. Was wondering how you made out with the Baby Ruth car?

everyone, in the morning on RFD-tv, they are having a program on The Great South America Steam Engine Show from 1991. if the kids let me, i hope to be watching.

Roy, maybe he is planning something elaborate, and that is why he didn't log on this morning. Just a guess.

Good evening everyone, nice day out here in Holland. Work went pretty well this week, learning a new paperwork system and everything else. Nice to be able to go outside now and not have to wear a jacket for a change.

Made another layaway payment on my Big Boy today, now only have $300 left to go before is comes home to join my railroading home. Also going to finally get my DCS set out of layaway tomorrow, now that I have enough to get it out. Won't be of much use yet though until I get a PS2 engine, but at least i'll have it home and can study on its features some more.

Gonna have a nice quiet easter here, wont be doing much. Sunday I plan to watch the original Ten Commandments....the usual Easter tradition, and may bake a cake for myself too.

Since you were looking for Buckeye I thought I'd let you know he's at his in-laws for the Holiday. Hopefully he'll get a place to get on-line.

Doug, hope your child is feeling better! Good news on Chuck - I pray he gets to come home tomorrow and keeps getting better.

They got about 3/4 of the siding up today. One thing though, they attached the scaffolding to the NEW ROOF!! ARRRGHHG. So, they pushed up some of the shingles and nailed through the roof.... I guess with the shingles laying flat, it would be okay, but I just paid for a new, clean, solid, no-holes roof to be put on the house. I'm going to talk to the contractor about repairing the holes and see how mean he tries to act this time. The roofers broke our driveway with their trailer, too.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Looks like IN and Ohizo are getting slamed by lightning. [:(] We can't get but a little sprinkle. Then the wind came up and blew me all over the pond. Caught some fish but not like I thought I would. Maybe tomorrow but have to mow grass and then cook chickens for my MIL tomorrow afternoon. Been doing that since Pam and I married. Big family meal. Later.

Evenin All'
Jim, If your TV suddenly goes on the fritz while watching that tape that will be a signal that my mug was on your screen.
Chief, You should have been here today, it was my turn to bring lunch. Pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw and tater salad. [tup]
Boy was it busy at the museum today, the kids really loved the Easter Bunny train I made up. Unfortunately the original bunnies were a little to tall to ride, their ears were hitting the signal bridges and their arms were shredding the trees along the rite-o-way. Still went thru a lot of hersheys chocolates, kisses and eggs.
Jim F, Now I don't feel so bad about how bad my gutters got trashed when we had our roof replaced.

Colin - I have been listening a lot. Harrisburg must be a busy area. I have a scanner that I use for NASCAR races. I might try scanning that frequency range to see if I can hear the CSX crews that run thru Gettysburg. It is really interesting to listen in. Thanks again for sharing.

Tom- It's nice to see the progress at the museum.

Doug - That lunch sounded fantastic. It's making me hungry even at this time of day.

Have a great day everyone!
