HI GIZ,
Just got done running trains. All ran great no discipline problems.
Went down to BARRY'S Train Shop today, sorry JOHN, JELECTRIC, did it on a whim after school. I haven't been there since first week in January, and wanted to see whats new. Otherwise I would have emailed you and we could have met. Oh well maybe next time.
Anyway got the American Flyer Log Loader no.787 for the layout for $59.00, I couldn't pass on that. Also recieved my new Lionel Catalog. At least I have brand new reading material for the morning on "the can".

Hope all had a good nite?
Have a gun show to go to tomorrow at the State Farm show building in Harrisburg.

Laz, We just missed each other by a day. I was there Thursday afternoon to pick up the Gargraves I use in the display cases. Nothing on the bargain table grabbed my attention. This afternoon I went down to CoolTrains in Sulunga and picked up an engine I had ordered and a few other items from Ted Symonds.

Heading for bed here, catch you all tomorrow.

Waiting to go pick up my daughter at the boyfriends. Everyone else asleep. Just heard some little critter scritch-scratch over my head in the ceiling - hope there's only one of 'im and he goes away when the weather warms. Cleaning out some stuff at the office: I found a few small mirrors. I'm going downstairs now to experiment with placing one behind the rotary beacon so the beacon 'beam' reflects more 'outward' than on the backdrop immediately behind it. I'll let you know the outcome of my experimenting... I don't think I'll ever get to retire...

Not much to talk on tonight. Got home at around 11 last night, after doing a round trip from Indianapolis and back. 13.5 hour workday. Won't be able to cash my check till later this morning. Then it's off to Muskegon to put that DCS set in layaway, and then a trip to GR to pay on my Big Boy layaway. If i pay down enough on it I hope to be able to get it out next month.

Since my 3 diesel engine orders wont come till later this year, I can take my time paying those down while I work on getting stuff that's already in stock and in the shops.

I am also planning to get a few pieces of Atlas track and see how that works, and may order the DCS video from OGR.

Gotta work on a small grocery list and then bed. Take care all.

Retiremen, sounds great. I've got 29 years in yesterday where I work, will be totally vested (85 points) in 3 years. Been stashing in the 401 and investments hard for the past 6 years. Plan to retire in 6 years. Like you said catch up on projects, hunt and fish more, play with grandkids, and increase activity at church. Wife thinks an garden train would be neat.

Live from Roger’s Corners,
It’s Saturday Morning

I was supposed to post this during Engineer’s Week in February, but I was too busy converting feet into miles. This is pretty heavy scientific stuff......converting units: (TMCC I think you can use this at school to better your grades.)

1. Ratio of an igloo's circumference to its diameter = Eskimo Pi
2. 2000 pounds of Chinese soup = Won ton
3. 1 millionth of a mouthwash = 1 microscope
4. Time between slipping on a peel and smacking the pavement = 1 bananosecond
5. Weight an evangelist carries with God = 1 billigram
6. Time it takes to sail 220 yards at 1 nautical mile per hour = Knotfurlong
7. 16.5 feet in the Twilight Zone = 1 Rod Sterling
8. Half of a large intestine = 1 semicolon
9. 1,000,000 aches = 1 megahurtz
10. Basic unit of laryngitis = 1 hoarsepower
11 Shortest distance between two jokes = A straight line
12. 453.6 graham crackers = 1 pound cake
13. 1 million-million microphones = 1 megaphone
14. 2 million bicycles = 2 megacycles
15. 365.25 days = 1 unicycle
16. 2000 mockingbirds = 2 kilomockingbirds
17. 52 cards = 1 decacards
18. 1 kilogram of falling figs = 1 FigNewton
19. 1000 milliliters of wet socks = 1 literhosen
20. 1 millionth of a fish = 1 microfiche
21. 1 trillion pins = 1 terrapin
22. 10 rations = 1 decoration
23. 100 rations = 1 C-ration
24. 2 monograms = 1 diagram
25. 4 nickels = 2 paradigms
26. 2.4 statute miles of intravenous surgical tubing at Yale University Hospital = 1 IV League
27. 100 Senators = Not 1 decision

The Chief’s visit was a success. Just after he landed, and he will confirm this, we had the police on his tail watching his every move. Of course he was trying to sneak some contraband into Buckeye Land so today I would assume he is in the Belmont County Jail awaiting arraignment in about a month. (Note to Belmont County Sheriff, I have the bag of grits for evidence.) I took him to a place where he could drink some sweet tea and eat Carolina barbeque. Of course, Mrs. Buckeye and I ordered normal drinks, like lemonade and water. After lunch we escorted him back to see the Baltimore, Ohio and Wabash Railroad. He was thrilled to see all of the Ohio Central cars headed up by a big, smoking and loud CSX engine pounding the 2% grades. He also saw the GP30 B&O and the Mikado C&O run quietly around the track. Here are the photos of the Chefie’s visit to Roger’s Corners.

He tried to spread green grits around Roger's Corners, but all he did was arouse the suspicions of the local police force.

The Chief says that he has never seen a layout not on the floor.

Have a great time at the train show today. Tom and John are up and at it this morning.

A snowy good morning to all. Winter is back for a while. Looks like below average temps for the next week or so. Off to do chores around the house then a movie and dinner. Kansas U lost in their NCAA post season game. I watched some of it but I am a Missouri grad times 2 so we have a real border war in this neck of the woods. KU has been getting the best of Mizzou recently. Have a good train day and be safe.

Good morning all. Trying to find a way to go to the train store in Chicago the 50% off sale. Don't really need anything. Was alternatively trying to make the big O scale show a few towns over - even though they don't have anything 3 rail. Don't think I'll be able to swing it with all to do today. Taking the middle boy to breakfast now after coming back from a small group mtg. at church. Have a track meet to attend for the daughter. Can't wait to hear more about the big train show!!

Good morning. Sounds like Chief made a successful incursion into Ohio. Buckeye, you don't think Chief travels with just ONE package of grits, do you? I'm sure he managed to sta***hem all over Yankeeland. Well done, Chief!

Supposed to rain this afternoon and tomorrow so I'm going to try to get some fertilizer on the lawn. Later!

Good morning to all from Gettysburg, PA. Currently 36 with highs to be about 42.

To the Buckeye and the OTTS Guys - congrats on staving off the GRITS Invasion. Glad to see you had a nice visit with Chief. He looked really puzzled next to all that benchwork. Foreign concept[;)][;)]

LAZ - Hope you enjoy the Gun Show.

Have a great day.

Hi Doug,
Went to Chicagoland Hobby last night. The 50% off was on all K-line frieght cars. Not much left by the time I got there. MTH, Atlas, Weaver are 30% off retail. Some good deals on Williams GP-9 $100 and 44 tonners $50. Not sure if any 44 tonners were left. You can check out the sale items at www.chicagoland-hobby.com.

Winter is still lingering. Got spoiled last weekend. Have a good day!

Afternoon. Cabela's is BUSY!!!! This store is always busy. Notice that Buckeye is holding the bag of GRITS and smiling. He is realy thinking of rushing home and cooking them. [:p][;)] Spreading them all over the NAWTH. Flying US Airways and their home is in Charlotte NC. So since they are a Southern company [:0], the pilots have been instructed to drop my bags of grits bombs where I tell them. [;)][:D] No Yanks are safe. [}:)] Back to the store. God bless all.

Have you checked that famous Rogers Corners structure since Chief has been there? Make sure he hasn't turned it into a Minuteman Grits Missle Silo!

Good afternoon,

Chief, How do you keep up with the gardeining, when you are on the road so much?

Worked in the greenhouse a couple of hours this morniing. Working on interior detailing and lighting another background building. Also added a second pickup to another caboose that did not have one. Will soon have them all done. Ran trains enough to test the caboose.

Heading out to dinner with the wife in a bit.

All have a nice evening.

Hello all,
I am looking for some information on Lionel Milk Cars # 3472. I have just purchased two of them. They are both white. One has aluminum doors and one small opening hatch on the top corner to load the milk cans. The other has white plastic doors and a larger hatch (double the size) on top. What years were these built? Do you know of any other differences? I have figured that they are from 1947 - 1954.

Good evening all,

Buckeye, I am glad you saved us all from a Grits invasion. Chief, I am glad you had a nice trip up North and that you got to see some benchwork. I can't say too much as most of my O stuff is on the floor. If you want to see benchwork, you need to see my standard gauge. Two by four legs supporting 3/4 inch plywood. The house will blow over before that layout will come apart. I got to do a little train watching today. An Indiana & Ohio GP40 was running east out of Greensburg along Indiana 46 with 14 hopper cars. I tried pacing it, but when I saw it was not going over 20 MPH, it was not safe for me to be on 46 so I turned around and came home. Next time I will have to make sure I have my camera so I can take some pictures. I ran the Alaska set for an hour this afternoon. I watched a tape of last week's F-1 race on Friday. It was nice to see an American driver in one of the cars. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all. Buckeye set me on to T&K Hobbies in Bridgeport. Big place and doing a big layout. Just what I needed!!! More rolling stock!!!!! Bought four more cars from him but at those prices and only $6.70 to ship all 4. All yuz Ohizo guys need to check him out. Especially Chuck. He's a little more into MTH than Lionel but that is OK on rolling stock. He will order stuff for you. He's building a layout with HO, S and O gauges. A big one too.
John, must admitt, central Ohizo to WV is pretty county. I love driving it.

Now to the room and relax. Microwave popcorn time. Printing out boarding pass for the GRITS bombing flight tomorrow night. [;)] Good night and God bless.

That photo of Buckeye and the Chief reminds me of those pictures from the detente era with the Russians showing Nixon shaking hands with Brezhnev and sizing each other up. Like a summit meeting. I felt the earth shake up here - must've been when they met. Paul, thanks for the heads-up about Chicagoland Hobby. I had their flyer and it looked like half-off everything. Bet everything's gone.

Good evening all,

I had a nice trip to the Land of OTTS today and the train show. I enjoyed meeting Tom, John, Greg and a whole bunch of other guys from the forum and some not from the forum. I made a couple small purchases at the show then had lunch with the guys and we visited the museum and Tom's (spankybirds) layout. It was really nice. Now when Tom posts his pic of the day I can appreciate where it is on one of his 2 layouts. Another great part of my day was having my 2 sons join me for part of the day. One lives in Cleveland and one goes to school at Kent.

Have a nice night.

Hey everyone, pretty cool day here in W. Michigan. I hate I wasnt able to make the train show today, thanks to work and getting the check late last night, but I guess next time. However all is not lost. I picked up a flyer at a hobby shop today for a show here in the W Michigan area. The Model Railraod and Toy Show will be taking place here in Muskegon on Sunday the 26th from 10am to 3pm. Gonna give a call and see what kind of layouts they will be having. Hopefully "O" will be one of them.

I got my DCS set in layaway today, and paid down on my Big Boy purchase. I hope to be able to get that home next month, cant wait!

Also picked up an OGR magazine, an Atlas catalog, a couple pieces of Atlas track to experiment with and the terminal track section to go with it.

I bought a new freight car today, the CN Husky Stack Car. I may just take a photo of it and display it for the Photo Fun tomorrow.

Well, movie time here for me....bbl [:)]
