Good Morning All,

NE Ohio has an other Blue Clear Sky Morning, Temp at 48 and going into high 70’s, may even hit 80 today. Sure, why not, we’re back at work.

We have survived our cousins wedding from Saturday. Saw some friends that we haven’t seen in over 25 years.

Finished working the garden, so this week we can plant it. Good to be back at work so we can get some rest.

Chief, my condolences to you and your wife. Roy, sounds like you had a great day. Legos sure are amazing toys - they make a fine Super Chief too. Dr. John, what about those of us facing both toddlers and teenagers - I think Charlie Brown said it best: Arrrgh! Just a spritz of rain this morning - been the driest spring here in years.

Hoped all you MOMs out there enjoyed your day.
CHIEF I don't know if I will get to see you in HARRISBURG this weekend? We had one of our teachers here at the school lost her fight with pancreatic cancer. She was to retire at the end of this year after 33 years of teaching. Was diagnosed with cancer in the fall and went down hill fast. Viewing is on Friday night and the funeral is on Saturday. Boy its later then you think, thank God everyday because you just never know.
Hope all is well, have a good one.

Good morning, all!

Warm and humid in Prattville. Summer is just around the corner in Alabama!

Chief, that story is closer to the truth than I care to think! Never had any die, but a lot of them put on a pretty good act!

Once at a previous church I noticed an older lady that had gone to sleep in the pew, her head was way back and she was snoring. Some kids on the same row were really enjoying the show. After a while, her head started moving forward, gaining momentum until her forhead hit the back of the pew in front of her with a loud "BANG!" She immediately sat up straight with wide eyes and looking side to side. She then settled back in her seat and smiled as if nothing ever happened.

Sometimes it's hard to keep a train of thought (and a straight face) while you're preaching . . .

Thanks you giz. Sorry Laz for the loss. Sounds like Roy was busy and made a good showing. Can not win them all. Got more plants to plant in the garden today. Basket around tomato plants [afraid they will be too big when I get back next week] as funerals tomorrow and then Town business at the Legislature Wed. [:(] Got to run. God bless all.

Hello Everyone! Chief, Sorry about Pam's loss.Hope she is doing fine. On a Happier note I picked up another 1688 from the Trading Post in Cleveland.Still has its Original Wheels,Cloth Wire, and runs like a Top. Will clean it up and have my repair man restore it to its original glory. Should turn out very nice. Very happy with this engine as the casting in excellent shape with no warpage, breaks,or cracks. Hope everyone has a nice day. Take care.....................Keith

Chief, as we discussed yesterday, please pass on my condolences to Pam.

Dr. John, I bet you see all sorts of funny things from the pulpit. Maybe that should be your next sermon, "The View from the Pulpit". Twenty years ago when my daughter was just starting kindergarten, she went to the front of the church for the children's sermon dressed in a little girl type dress. She sat on the step and listened to the sermon very intently After the children's sermon she ran back to the pew where here mother and I were sitting and jumped on my lap and gave me a big hug. Needless to say something wasn't right and I asked her, "Do you have any underpants on?" The reply was "No, I forgot." She is reminded to this day about this incident at church.

Worked this weekend on the Garden RR. This year it is the plants, not the trains that are receiving the attention. A G Scale layout, outside is much easier to build that our layouts inside. This year we are adding a trolley track. Just put the track where you want it to go, prop it up with some rocks and add some dirt and gravel where needed. I then will water the roadbed, add some more rocks and dirt and broom off the track. (Rocks are free around this part of Ohio.)

In less than two weeks, I will be visiting Steve's wonderful Providence of Ontario. The drive along the eastern shore of Lake Superior is absolutely stunning and the people are very friendly. At this time of year, we will see moose and bear. I should limit out on walleyes and try to get some big pike, it the weather cooperates.

Have a good week.

Buckeye,

How big's your boat? I haven't fished for Walleye in 32 years.......... funny, that's how long we've been married, something wrong with this picture. Or hunted pheasant and Iowa is one of the best pheasant states in the USA. This is starting to irritate me, better quit thinking about it[;)]

Buckeye, I'm going up to the UP on the Lake Michigan side in August - it's just a hop from Lake Superior up there - we're taking a bunch of kids to a youth camp - hope to try fishing (for the first time) on the Tacquemenon River.

Congrats on the 1688, Keith. Show us a picture. Well, back to cleaning the carpets - have to finish before the girls come home tonight. Just to show you how far a little encouragement can go - my son's still beaming from getting two hits in Saturday's game - I think I told you his coach gave him a game ball - I wrote the date and details on it today - also worked on his mitt with Neat Foot Oil last night - remember that?

We put together some plasticville kits late last evening. It's been a while - they went together very cleverly - but some of the plastic was warped - we successfully duct-taped it though ;)

Ballast, bare trees, beagle, beaver, Broad Run

Yesterday afternoon went for a walk with BB the beagle along Virginia's Broad Run. Discovered a fallen tree with flowers growing on it. A close examination of the root system shows perfect dead trees or winter trees you can model by cutting one of the exposed roots.

Also where the Broad Run overflows its banks was some perfect river ballast that would work well on a layout. Sorry, no photo of that but tonight going to get some.

Later, we heard a splash and BB went to investigate. It was a beaver. BB and the beaver seemed to hit it off pretty well.

Chief, I would like to add my condolences on your family's loss.

Yesterday afternoon the oldest GD, 7, comes running in the house yelling Granma, Pop-Pop, hurry come quick and jumping up and down. We thought maybe something happended to one of the younger sisters. She was in such a hurry she started to put her flip-flops back on but just tossed them aside and ran outside, all the time urging us to hurry. When we finally caught up to her we found her excitement was finding a birds nest down low with nestlings. Oh to be young. She happend to notice an adult bird with a worm go into a stack of flower pots I had piled behind a shed and heard chirping when she checked it out and found the nest.

Related to trains. I won a pair of LIonel Burlington F3's #8054 & 8055 on e-bay yesterday at what appears to be an excellent price if the discription holds true. These, other than the B unit, will complete the 8000 series Burlington passenger set for me.

May pickup lumber tomorrow for the framing of the layout. If not tomorrow, I will Monday.

Obviously, hell is beginning to freeze over if the Chief is starting to build benchwork. [;)][(-D][:-,]

Is it turning COLD in OHIO? The above responce from Buckeye. Well, paid for the lumber and etc for layout today and they will "pull" it up for me. Will pick it up next week as too many funerals and etc this week and trip to LAZ land. OHIO is H--L isn't it.

Chief, It's pretty warm here today and the rest of this week, but then again, you don't get all the wood until next week, and then we will have to see how long it takes you to move it inside.

How long did it take your daughter to move here wedding present out [?] May it will take you just half as long to move the wood in.[:D][;)]

Hey, there are still wedding presents upstairs. In fact, she just went up and got some dresses to wear to the funeral. Now she has junk here, new house and apt in Wilmington. I guess she will eventually have stuff here, new house in Raleigh, apt in Wilmington and new house in Wilmington. [;)][:(] OH WELL. Went into the trainroom this AM and found Pam had put big plastic bens in there with some of her stuff. [:(] She got a lecture a few minutes ago about that. Will build layout tables high enough for bens to go under. That will help with her storage. Pam has ten million shoes, two million pocketbooks and one million coats. Her best friend says, "This is a sin." [;)] Attic storage is now full of flower arrangements and decorations for every season and she still buys more. Think I will open a used clothing and odds and ends store. [;)]

Good evening, everyone!

Saturday was a good day for me! I got an apartment in Regina for when I go to university next year. It's very spacious, has air conditioning and a private washer and dryer, is located very close to the university as well as restaurants, gas stations, etc. and is very reasonably priced. One of the best things about it, though, is that there will be space for a fair sized layout. I've included plans below (mine is the one bedroom). The space labeled "dining area" is approximately 10' x 6' and will house a layout of about the same size. There's a chandeliere hanging above this space. I don't need a dining room table and chairs. I'll be living alone and can eat in the living room or else fit a small table with a single chair in the kitchen. I'm planning on making the layout simple. There will be two loops of O27 track running around the edges, with one siding that goes across.

They're doing MOW work on the real railroad here in town. For the past year or two, there have been speed restrictions on our section of the line. Many people in town have been upset about how slow the trains go. They won't have that problem for now, though. There's a few yellow machines parked in town and guys doing work. Today, there was a road closed off because they were doing a bunch of work at one of the crossings. A week or so ago, they left three gondolas and a boxcar on a siding. The boxcar is old and still has its original "Canadian Pacific" in script lettering (they switched over to "CP Rail" and the multimark in 1968). Hopefully, as the work progresses, they will bring more interesting rolling stock.

He called back and this crazy cell phone service went right into my voice mail. He is doing OK. The whole family had the flu. He is to call me tomorrow at 12 my time. Says he has been working extra hours and why he ahs not been posting. Now find SkyRay. Good night and God bless.

Morning gang. Late night. Talked to dougsNOTagrump [really a jolly fellow with a great laugh] last night. Last thing I did before hitting the bed as we got home late as I had told the wife we would. Late here is the middle of the evening there. Funeral this afternoon and then Pam's father's brother's wife's visitation tonight. That funeral tomorrow AM. WOW, too many at one time. Had to put ont a tie. Have not done that many times since I retired. Had to all my working career except the last six months before retirement. Told them the H with it. They frowned but I did not care. Wife has sausage and eggs ready [that is a change]. Enjoy the day and God bless all.

Sausage and eggs, yum. I'm eating cold pizza for breakfast - back at work. Saw lots of MoW activity on the UP this morning - ties being replaced, et al. They're still working on the interlocking at Deval Tower - it burned so every train has to be flagged through.
