Sask,

Wow - a chandelier, washer-dryer?. I had a dorm room in a tired building built in the 40's. It had a bunk bed, a sink with a bare light bulb (with pull chain) over it, a built in book shelf, 2 study desks, and industrial grade linoleum floors. Gang bath rooms and showers were down the hall. If you flushed the toilet and someone was in the shower, you had to yell "crapper" first, waiting for the person(s) in the shower to yell "shoot" before you pulled the handle as the toilets pulled all the cold water. The hot water was essentially saturated steam - so if you got caught it could mean 2nd degree burns.

As Spanky stated - you are entering a great time of yur life. Make sure you plan for studying as well as some fun. Don't be a "hole rat" as we called those that seemed to never leave their dorm room, studying 24/7.

Warming here to 80 today. A bit cooler than predicted. High 80's predicted for later in the week.

Have a great day all!
Roy

Mornin' All,
My D&RGW Goose just arrived, with that nice bright yellow paint it shouldn't disapear on the layout. Looking forward to friday, it should be a real hoot with the visitors. [:D]
Besides for less than $100 delivered you can't beat it. Now I need to learn how to operate MTH & PS. [|(]

Sask., sure beats commuting to school like I did, but don't forget your main focus is school. If need be trains must wait, though they will help you keep your sanity..

Chief, if you'll check the back posts you'll find that I did respond to your joke. All too true!

Dave, actually its not a lack of cigarettes but an abundance of fried chicken and pecan pie that makes Baptists fat. That and our metabolisms are all shot! [:(]

At my last church, we actually had to have some of our pews reinforced - they were beginning to crack under the weight! [:D]

At least I don't have a lot to lose. . . 20 lbs will put me at a good weight of 180.

As someone once said, "I'm not overweight, I'm under tall!"

Took BB the beagle rabbit chasing once again this afternoon. Since applying Advantix, she hasn't had a tic problem.

The vet last week warned me not to apply it to myself. So, I'm using an old home remedy. I'm eating several cloves of garlic each evening. THe garlic leaks out thru the pores of my skin and so far, no tics!

In the morning, I brush well and try not to breathe when I talk to people.

I'm still trying to see who I should take fishing, that lovable LAZ Yankee or that rascal rebel the Chief.

Many of you have never seen my fishing web page. I made this on free site, so sometimes it won't load after too many people have opened the pages.

He called tonight. Been real busy working 12 hours a day. Says he will post for us. One more funeral tomorrow morning and this is over. Have worn a tie more than anytime since 2003. Buckeye is scared to take me fishing as I will most deffinately out fish him. [;)] Sleepy and tired. God bless all.

Tim, I have an idea for a new reefer. In tribute to all us older folks, instead of the "Land A Lakes Butter" reefer change it to the "Land A Lakes Fat Free Half & Half" sure helped me get my cholesterol down. [:D]

Good Morning All

NE Ohio is warm at 58 deg and mostly clear skys. Going into the high 70 and T-Storms coming this afternoon. Spring is great.

Buckeye – I said it before, take Chief fishing and see how well he swims. If it is like his train building skills, we won’t have to listen to his ranting anymore.[:D]

Good Morning,

It's been an extremely dry and cool spring but that all changed last night. As of 7:30 a.m. CDT we have had 1.20 of rain and it's supposed to go on for another 24 hours, at least it has been steady.

Very interesting to hear about the other hobbies everyone enjoy's. I had read years ago that when one nears retirement you need several hobbies and now I can certainly relate to that thought. The bigger problem though, at least for me, was that I never had or took the time to really develop the train hobby. It wasn't until about 2 years before I retired that I got serious about it and at least built the bench work. Looking back now I wish I had spent more time downstairs and made it a priority, it's such a great stress reliever and relationship builder. My job should have been less of a priority, oh well.

Hope I don't need to start building the Ark tonight, stay tuned[:)]

Morning, folks!

Had to put Big Blue in the shop yesterday (my '90 model Cadillac). She needs a new radiator and spark plug wires.

I sometimes wish cars had all of the access panels that diesel hood units have. Might look funny but it would add character and ease of maintainence to cars. A Nathan five chime horn would be nice too . . .

I'd love access panels like on the GP7 we rode behind on Sun. I had a neighbor who rigged up a triplet of truck airhorns in his Ford Focus - I'd prefer a whistle on the car. Raining this morning - it was just teeming as I walked the 100 yards from the parking lot to the station. Got soaked. Like I've been wading. Guess I'll have to squish around the rest of the day.

Morning all!

Nice cool breeze this morning, but supposed to hit high 80's today. 87 yesterday and quite warm due to the humidity.

Finished up Robotics class yesterday and had a little party for the teams while they inventoried their Lego kits.

Not much going on here today.

I really like that aerial photo of the coal drag/steam train taken from that angle. I can almost smell the smoke and feel the cinders in my hair from here.
