Me and my boys are pretty booked up for the rest of the year...why not just videotape the next Roseyville Town Meeting and play that for the Inaugural Ball entertainment? Or tape Chiefie trying to catch some fish? What a riot! (wink)

MORNING GIZ,
Sounds like UNDERWORLD has the right name for the governor of OHIO< DAFT or can you say DAFTY? Sounds better with all the taxes. As far as entertainment for the next governor of OHIO, I wouldn't mind seeing JIMBOS neighbor ladies all cutting the new governors grass in the wind (wink).
OFF today HS PROM. All the girls need all day to look pretty in their dresses so they give the kids off today because half the school would take it off otherwise.
Nice at 40 but cloudy today 61 for a high.
Beat my brother in golf last night for the third time now. Came down to the last hole with a one stroke lead he put it in the pond and I parred it . Yeah for me but as the year goes on it seems my skills get worse.
Going to change the fuse in my CW80 today let you know what happens
Go fish for the trout the kids stocked tonight then have some dogs and burgers on the outdoor fireplace along with a few beverages.
Have agood one.

Why are you still attending a High School prom? Aren't you a little old for that? Your date, who I assume is still in high school, must have you wrapped around her little finger.

Morning gang. Slept late. Raining and cool. Buddy from Chicago called and chatted. Planning on meeting around noon on Memorial Day as I do not fly out until that night. Now for some coffee and wife's homemade pound cake. Guess I'll clean house for wife today as raining. We needed it for the garden and her gardens. Seafood with friends tonight. Well, I guess we will change Laz's name to Tiger. [;)] He'll be driving a nice new big Buick soon. [:D] Might just run some trains. Got parts from MTH to make the dummy NS Dash 8 lighted. Next project is to see if I can get a smoke unit to work in it. May pickup lumber tomorrow for the framing of the layout. If not tomorrow, I will Monday. Later and God bless.

Would have today but the half of an inch of rain we were to get last night and end this AM is now almost 1.6 inches. [;)] Hey, my Yankee buddy in Chicago told me this AM why the War of Northern Aggression was fought. Seems the North found out that when the South suceeded from the Union, we were taking our pork bar-be-que with us. [:D] Now I really know. [;)] We did keep our sweet ice tea as punishment. [^]

Hi GIZ,
Just got done replacing the blown fuse on the CW80 transformer. All is working great. Couldn't find a 8 amp slow blow fuse so I used a 5 amp. I am only running one train and a few accessories off it so I don't think it will matter too much. All runs good.

Morning all!

Putting in a few hours at the office this AM, then home to cut the "back 40". Chief, good suggestion about insulating the attice rafters, space heater, fan, etc. I do have some light up there (window and one fixture) as well as electrical outlets, so flooring and insulation would get me started. Probably will be a few large ovals of O-72 and O-54 with no scenery or operating accesories. Don't want to subject them to the heat. Just something to run some long trains. I'll have to cut down the plywood to get it up in the attic though. Easier and lighter to handle that way.

Everyone have a great day!

A Good Friday Morning from Iowa where it's actually starting to feel like SPRING! After near record lows at the beginning of the week we are where we should be and tomorrow and Sunday going way above average, Mother nature seems confused.

Jim Duda--I'm leaving in a few hours for Maquoketa and Bettendorf for the last big State Music Contest tonight and tomorrow. I really enjoy judging at this level as the kids at their very best for the year PLUS it will allow me to increase my savings account for some new locomotive down the road. Any places I need to look up in your stomping grounds?

Have a great weekend!

You be careful, young man...especially if you spend the evenings onboard the gambling casino boats parked on the Iowa side of the Mississippi river! If you do, WIN BIG!!! The best "parking" places after the High School activities used to be where those boats are now anchored...but that was many years ago...(wink)

Dr. John, Home Depot [probably Lowes too] has a pressboard [not OSB] that is a subflooring. It is [or was] cheaper than plywood and thick. I got it. Now it is hard and rough on the knees. It is 4' 1" or 2" [strange width ????] wide and 8' long. Very slick. I cut mine in half and carried them up 2'+ by 8' long.

Warm and hazy today. Cut the grass for the first time - I keep it long to bug the neighbors. Also put up a new blankety-blank mailbox. You need three hands to put one of these together... LL baseball game later. Proms aren't for a few more weeks here - I'm sure Laz is a diligent chaperone - bring your ruler to check how far apart the kids are while dancing.

LAZ a chaperone!!!!!! No he is a brave man. Here is his story:
Definition of Bravery:
True bravery is arriving home stinking drunk after a very late night out with the boys, being met at the door and assaulted with a broom by your wife ...... and still having the guts to ask: "Are you cleaning, or were you flying somewhere"?

Hello All: Weathar is getting back to norm, beautiful day today. These 13 14 hour days starting to wear me down. There are not enough dependable tradesman left, never mind if they know what they are doing or not, getting them to show up is half the battle. Chief : I think you call that courage in a bottle. When are you going to Lobby BPS for a train set, or at least a boxcar? LAZ: My daughter is 16 going on twenty two I don't know how you deal with these young girls everyday. Buckeye LAZ is going to the prom cause that's where all the good alcohol is this time of year!!! I always used to wonder why the liquor stores were so low on many things around this time of year.....then I remembered what we used to do when I was in school! [:p]

Nice warm day today.....not sure what the actual temp was but it felt like it was in the 70s. [8D] Spent most of the last two days delivering flowers for Mothers Day for a local florist. Pretty good ca$h to be made doing that! Got a message from my LHS that the gauge 1 3-rail track that I ordered from GarGraves came in today....but with all of the flowers to deliver today and tomorrow....I won't be able to pick it up till Monday! Guys, my buddy in Dallas on a fishing board gave this as a comeback to my bravery thing.

Wife tell me that I need to cancel my membership at the Deer Lease because I haven't killed a deer yet !

So.....

I told her that she needed to cancel her membership at the gym because she had not lost any weight....

Her reply was that she went to the gym to stay in shape. I told her she was doing a good job at maintaining her current body shape.

Knowing him, he told her that too! I laughed until I cried. Pam told me to tell him to write his wife a check [her way of saying divorce]. [:D][:D][:D][:D]

Big seafood meal. Now a big bowl of strawberry shortcake [Pam's gooood pound cake] and pleanty of wipped cream. [:D] Good heart diet. [;)] Speaking of heart, wasn't it Roger who was having some tests????

This has to go down in internet history as the longest thread ever! I hang out on quite a few types of boards, from computer, to watches, and nothing even comes close!

What exactly is the topic anyway?

Live from Roger's Corners Ohio, It’s Saturday Morning!!!

Today is Wise Sayings Day and we have some rather wise sayings today for your edification:

Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.

Life ain't about how fast you run, or how high you climb,
but how well you bounce.

Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance.

Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.

Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.

Meanness don't jest happen overnight.

Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads.

Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.

It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.

You cannot unsay a cruel word.

Every path has a few puddles.

When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

The best sermons are lived, not preached.

Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.

Don't judge folks by their relatives.

Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back,
you'll enjoy it a second time.

Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.

Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

The easiest way to eat crow is while it's still warm, 'cause the colder it
gets,
the harder it is to swaller.

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.

It don't take a genius to spot a goat in a flock of sheep.

Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with watches
you shave his face in the mirror every mornin'.

Always drink upstream from the herd.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes
from bad judgment.

Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lo t easier than puttin' it back
in.

If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence,
try orderin' somebody else's dog around.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Leave the rest to God.

BR1116, yes it is a rather large thread, but why not? Read the very first post and see the purpose.

LAZ, we want prom photos of you and your date(S).

Chief, for some reason I think you are digging a hole at home and then you are going to be required to jump in that hole. I think I might call Pam and tell her the content of your posts with just a little northern twist.

Jim, Ohio needs you and your sons to run for state office.

underworld, you mean there are flowers in Toledo?

Next week, Huntington, WV, then the following week, Louisville, KY.

I'm now off to The Ohio State University to be a judge for the Sate Science Fair and you guys thought you had to know something about something to be a judge. I can walk and chew gum at the same time so I'm qualified.

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio is partly cloudy with temps at 55 and going into high 60’s.

Today we have my cousin’s wedding to attend. Not much time for trains, but good food and spirits.

Buckeye – great saying and have fun being the Judge. Don’t let anyone send anything to the appeals court.

all be safe

Lotsa wisdom in Buckeye's sayings... Sounds like something I heard on Dukes of Hazzard last night. A beautiful warm day has dawned - as a treat, I'm going to take the boys (if the older one wakes before noon) for doughnuts. Then we have LL baseball in the middle of the day. Trying to encourage the older boy (who's playing organized ball for the first time) to hang in there - he's still hitless... Got him a lighter bat and we're practicing more. We'll try to go to the Illinois Railway Museum tomorrow after church.

Morning guys. BR1116, what ever makes you happy and come to mind and then a little trains in there every now and then. Keep on joining us. Buckeye, you did good with that post. I did see a few I thought were right timely.
Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers and YANKEES at a distance.

Meanness don't jest happen overnight. [caused by Yankees trying to pick on Rebs]

Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads. Buckeye, we forgive Yankees [you think?]

Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you. [Remember that Yankees]

When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty. [happens evrytime I go into Yankeeland]

Every path has a few puddles. [especially if you have a new puppy in the house]

The best sermons are lived, not preached. [what Dr' John's congregation says when he gets long winded]

It don't take a genius to spot a goat in a flock of sheep. [a Yankee down South]

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Leave the rest to God. [very well put]

You knew I had to get the southern "touch" to some of these. The Dr. John one, well, I could not resist. [:D]

Sunny and warming fast. Got the much needed rain and now the warmth to make things really grow. Need to put baskets around tomatoes or they will get too big by the time I return from next weeks's trip. Hope all have a good one and God bless all.

Well, I went and did it - after pondering it for a few days and going back to look at it - I bought the Santa Fe Steam Chief Passenger Set by K-Line at Hobby Lobby - it comes with a 4-6-2 with Railsounds tender, and 3 cars - a combine, dome and obs that light up - along with an oval of track and transformer - now for the best part, it was $112. I'll put it aside as a birthday gift to myself - to go along with the K-Line Pennsy GP-9 battery-powered set. They still had the KLine construction set, Lionel Southwest Freight, and a few KLine MP15 sets for $130 - $104... congratulate me, I've always wanted a passenger train like this. Boy, their HO stuff was inexpensive too.

And a good day to all of you folks on this fine and pretty Derby Day. My mom had her traditional Derby breakfast this morning(not as big as the one put on by the Governor, but the food was a heck of a lot better). I had planned on watching the R.J. Corman Derby train come through town, but missed it. It's a rare treat to get to see four shiny aluminum cars being pulled behind one or two bright, shiny high-nosed GP-9s, and I was sorry that I missed out on it. In the past, the governor's ridden to Louisville by train, but that was cut last year as part of the budget crunches.

Hope that you all have a good day today!

Hi y'all, first time I've had to sit down at the computer and get it to work since noon. It was slow as molasses on an Ohio winter day. I would only get the header for the forum and wait forever, finally gave up and went to cut grass at the rental property one last time before the new renters move in.

Stress test went well, did better than I did 8 yrs. ago, 9 min., max pulse of 163. I could have gone longer but the legs gave out, I'm still suffering with tight leg muscles. Doc said not bad for an old f**t pushing 60. (Been going to him for 15 yrs. now and we're the same age) Looks like being downsized into early retirement may have been the best thing for my health.

Think I poure a cold one and spend the evening watching NASCAR.
