Good Morning All

NE Ohio has Blue Clear Skys with temp at 42 deg.

What a great start for Easter Sunday.

Will be spending most of the day at my Mother-in-Laws and stop at my sisters house on the way home. Big family day which won’t live much time for trains today.

Roger – looking forward to seeing you station. You should post it on the Sunday Photo Fun.

JimBo – I love your Easter train.

Turbo Tim - Cong on going Gold [8D]

all be safe

Tim, the two towers are on the front side of the station. I don't know if they were strictly decorative or served a function at any time, bell towers?

Morning all! Happy Easter!

Just got back from Sunrise service with my daughter (she is in the choir). She gets to stay for all 5 services (ugh).

Chris and Roger - great photos. Roger, I would also like to see more of your station.

40 and raining still. We have gotten 1.25 inches since this time yesterday. We need it. It is gonna blow the neighborhood Easter Egg hunt.

Just got my CTT yesterday and like Dave, I really enjoyed the outside thrid rail article.

PETim - any damp day is mud season for our dog. She makes sure there is no grass so there is plenty of mud.

Have a great day all.

Too bad there are not many creators of TV shows like this guy...

March 26, 2005

Paul Henning Dies at 93:

Very sad news out of TV land today. Paul Henning, creator of "The Beverly Hillbilles," "Petticoat Junction," and "Green Acres," died Friday from Natural Causes at age 93. We will miss him dearly.

Just catching my breath between services this AM and thought I'd say, "Happy Easter!" Hope all of you are having a great day.

We had some bad weather in Alabama last night - very heavy thunderstorms, two tornadoes near Selma. I had 2.5 inches at the house. At least it stopped raining this AM for a while so people can get to church. More rain expected this afternoon. No evening services today, going to senior minister's house for lunch.

Roy, that's sad news about Paul Henning. I grew up on those shows.

Have a great day, everyone!

Howdy all. Suppose to be raining [80% but not a drop yet]. Might get Dr. John's storms this evening. Been watching Discovery Channel with history on Peter, Joseph and now Mary. Interesting. I'm kind of a Biblical History guy. Pam's Grandmother is dying for the 7th time in the last few months [not being ugly]. Pam's youngest sister called and told me that and said that she and her Mom were off to be there with Grandmother. For Pam not to call. Did not call Pam's middle sister at all. Pam's Dad said youngest came by house and swooped up Mom and off they went and left him there without hardly saying anything. Pam calls them her dysfunctional family. Pam is cooking a meal for neighbors. They were coming over for dinner. Lady just called and her hubby now has the bug [like I did] so Pam is taking plates. Guy is just back from Iraq. He is in Navy Reserves and got called up for 12 months. Been an interesting Easter. Sorry to here about the guy that did those great TV programs. Yes, we need more of those for today's TV. Think I'll take a picture or two of trains and new siding. God bless all.

Good morning and a happy Easter Egg everyone . Been raining most all week with no let up until about Wednesday. Since the stormy weather began about two weeks ago we've gotten 6-8 inches of rainfall. Everyone was starting to worry about a drought and the forest fire potential for the Summer but now those worries have abated. Hoppy, my shepherd/dobie cross, has a case of cabin fever that won't quit. Snowing heavily in the foothills around Mt. Shasta and up on the mountain too.

Gas up to $2.49.9/Gal. with no relief in sight. Good day to play with trains. Certainly not going to watch college basketball as my heart is broken about Arizona blowing a 15 point lead with 4-5 minutes to go and losing to Illinois in OT. What a choke job!

Take Care all and don't eat too much Ham.

bogaziddy, is this your first Coffee Pot post? [?] If so, welcome. Another left banker. Sure is good to have some of the guys from the other side of the country on here. I see you use to really run the trains. Got any pictures of the railroad? If so, please share them with us. Keep on visiting us on the Coffee Pot.

Tim

I did have the hot sourdough bread, it is very good, but I don't really understand the big deal about it in SF. The Ohio Amish bake this type of bread all the time in Holmes County. It was the chocolate that was the best in SF.

Tim, after my visit maybe you can answer some of my California questions:

1.My rental car was brand new. It seemed to lack power. Is this due to special emissions controls?
2.Is the bridge between SF and Oakland the one that was heavily damaged during the last earthquake?
3.Do the panhandlers make a ton of money and where do they spend the nights?
4.How do those houses in the hills keep from falling over the cliffs?
5.Do they sell domestic cars in California?
6.Why does Berkley look like an eastern European country before the fall of the Berlin Wall?
7.I have flown into LAX and SF. Did you know that Detroit has a nicer airport than either of these places? (When Detroit has you beat, you are in big trouble.)
8.How long does it take by train to get from SF to San Diego? It looked like about two days by car.
9.What are the best train stores in California?
10What are the best train rides in California?

I also noticed that I did not meet a single indiviual that spoke suthern. How do you keep them out? [:D]

BTW, Congrats on your third star. I know you have put up with some screwy people on another Trains.com forum.

Think I'll post a pic of the Portland train station on Photo Fun. Raining here and 38.
Chief ,if you ever make it this far NW. The local cafe overlooking the lake serves grits and sweet tea, but they put pork gravy on the chicken fried steak. The next time I order it I will go into the kitchen and make my own cream gravy.
Buckeye, You better hope the Chief never spends any amount of time in Texass. After 5 years you are issued a Texass passport for travel to all 50 states.
You can shorten the 5 yrs. to 6 mts if you turn in the scalp of 3 people from OHIO.
Think this afternoon I will try the scenery making from ceiling tiles that was in last months CTT. Let you know how it goes...Tim

PETim, go to Texas a lot. I know a few Ohioians I would love to scalp. [;)][:D] Best chicken fried steak with white gravy is in Texas near Big Sam Rayburn Lake. Covers the whole plate. Maybe they will open a Cablea's and BPS near you and I can fly out for the opening. [:)]

Just got home from our Easter visit to the daughter-in-law;s family. It's been raining all day and really pouring now. Five kids 7 and below having an Easter egg hunt in the house. Wild!

For those who wanted to see a bit more of my stationI had a chance to take a few photosand upload them before we left. Hope these give an idea of what it looks like. My layout isn't the easiest to get photos of some sections.

Look like I need to dust off those cars on Main St.

Hope all had an enjoyable Easter no matter what the weather was.

Thanks for rolling out the welcome mat Chief. I can't remember whether or not I've posted here before or just on the other part of the forum. I'll have to check my post history over in the profile section.

I've got some 1:1 pictures that I'll post and, as soon as I figure out how, I'll post a short video of my last trip on the UP out of Dunsmuir up the Sacramento River canyon and around Cantara Loop (Site of the infamous derailment where chemical tank cars fell into the river rupturing their contents into the river). That sterilized the river and killed all the trout for a 35 mile stretch of river (all the way down to Shasta reservoir). I'm happy to say I wasn't running that train and that the river and trout have made a remarkable comeback.

Below is a picture I took over on the McCloud Railway at the end of last Summer when they were hosting a motor car meet.

Look for more 1:1 pics and some pics of my 1:48 trains coming soon to a forum near you. All for now,

bogaziddy, thanks for the pictures. Glad you are here. Will be looking forward to your other pictures. Oh guys, BTW, Pam's Grandmother is still doing as she has been for months. As usual, hysterical women [Pam's Aunt, Mom and youngest sister]. Middle sister is RN and went and examined Grandmother [still at rest home and not hospital] and said, unless she has a heart attack or stroke, she will be here for a while. So they all went home. Not funny but it is. Think it is time for me to turn in. I did enjoy Andy Roney's commentary on saving gasoline at the end of 60 Minutes. He can be funny. Good night and God bless all.
