Mistreating kids really pisses me off. They need to be kept in line but punch one for trying to touch the paint is something. They should have called Social Services. Might be what he would want to do. Then the Dad will keep his mouth shut when they get after him. About to starve. Guys replacing carpet so have to wait for a while. Might go run trains. You know the wife would disappear with youngest to go shopping and leave me to look after the carpet job. [:(] Later

In case 8500GASTURBINE browses overhere. Since you were cited a complaint needed to be filed thus you know who the individual is and can fill a complaint with social services that you witnessed child abuse. It's a given that if you saw something it is a regular occurance and the b*****d belongs behind bars.

Dave,

Sorry 8500GASTURBINE had to go through that with that jerk hitting his son. Inexcusable. I don't blame him for stepping in, although he made a mistake by putting his hands on that guy. Hopefully that sorry excuse for a father will drop charges when he realizes the situation HE might be facing! My heart goes out to that little boy - some role model he has.

Dr. John,

Completely agree. Violence against violence isn't always the answer. There are laws and civilized ways to deal with these situations.

Just sometimes, the blood boils and it is hard to control emotions. We are, after all, human. I think the outrage can be forgiven. The shove the man had was probably nowheres near what the poor boy probably has endured over time.

I grew up in the slums of the Bronx. My buddies used to brag about the lashings w/belt they got and had welts to show. I always felt bad because I didn't have any to compare. However, I am grateful to my parents for nonetheless, bringing me up right.

Not everyone is as fortunate. I can't say what I'd become if I didn't have caring parents. Not perfect, but they tried. That's all we can do.

I'm proud of my daughter, who's a college freshman at my alma mater, George Mason U in N. Va. I was not a perfect parent. Went thru divorce and she had to witness that but I just pray I taught her enough to come out right; and I think she is.

None of us are perfect parents or children, for that matter. We just do the best we can and pray things turn out ok. They usually do.

Dave,
Almost the same thing happened to me in a Wal Mart in Conroe, Tx. a few years back. The Dad slapped the little 5 or 6 yr old boy in the face pretty hard. well I couldnt handle that so I slapped him and asked him how he liked that. He threw a punch and then, I threw one and broke his nose and 2 bicycles.
The manager pulled me off him and then informed him that they had it all on video. If he pressed charges against me, they would press charges on him.
He left the store in a huff and bleeding pretty bad from the nose. I checked with the manager a few weeks later and he said nothing had come from the incident and not to worry. The only thing that bothers me is the guy probably gave it to the kid when they got home. Even with that, I would still today do the same thing. I can't stand by while little kids and old folks are mistreated.[soapbox][soapbox][soapbox][soapbox]

One a train subject, I think I'm going to order a power upgrade kit for a Williams F7 B unit I have. Needs a little more power pulling ABA and 8 aluminum passenger cars. Thinking of adding railsounds from digital dynamics also. This particular SP passenger set is one of my favorites but needs sound.

Hello All: I Know what you mean when it comes to the kids, I coached hockey for 23 years ( 16 without my own kids in it ), I always treated the players fair with playing time, winning wasn't worth sitting players out. I always wondered what the ride home was like for some of those kids when they didn't have a very good game. I finally gave it up 3 years ago when my boy was 10, you shouldn't coach the same player's for more than two years they will only know what you know, now I just take him to the rink & try to stay away from the other parent's, it's pathetic watching these parent's trying to play the game through thier kid's.[soapbox] Back to Trains, Has anybody ever ordered the Williams passenger set's I see on the back of CTT?? or know much about them?? They are starting to look rather attractive. THANK'S to all for the email's regarding the club due's &club information it will be helpful as we try to get this club underway. I already put an idea forward to lease real estate on the layout to local businesses, I approched a few & was met with positive response. It's pretty simple, we model a stroe or gas station, lumber yard & we charge the local busines a fee to put there name on it, I thought it would be a good way to raise fund's. The email on the coaster was good. David Vergun: Watch that Italian wine too much & you will have memories you hoped to forget. Good Night for now Kind Regards to all Steve

Good Friday Evening to all, what a glorious day. [angel][angel][angel]

Went to a seder dinner last night at our church. It is a Jewish celebration dinner that Jesus did. The best part is they had everyone dip a piece of parseley into grape juice then salt water and taste it. My 6 year old son did, Trevor, and out loud went YUCK ! and spit it out. I couldn't help but laugh.

I apologize I will read more tomorrow, I am exausted, and going to bed.

Take care all

Evenin All.
Tim, Were you and Trevor able to make it to the museum today? I left about 11am, there were more than enough people to help out. Nobody was signed up to run on sunday so it might be just plain old Lonesome George at the museum. This is the first year we won't have a house full of people so I figured let the others spend the day with family and friends.
After doing the prep work for the day I was able to test run my bargain basement C&O Mikado, WHAT A BEAUTY !!! [^]

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio is cool and quite, temp at 35 with overcast skies. Looks like rain just to the south of us. Maybe Spring will come in with April.

Yesterday we had to buy more Easter candy because someone was weak and ate what was already bought.

all be safe

Good morning someone, AH, I mean Tom. [;)] Cloudy and I think it is suppose to rain. Got to cook a big pile of chickens on my big PIG cooker for MIL. Thought I was getting out of that this year [been doing it for years]. Pam's youngest sister started fussing and now I have to cook. She will do nothing to help me. Hope the rain holds off so I will not get wet while cooking. Then I will be really be sick. At least it is warm here. Off to get ready for my cooking chore. God bless all.

Chief, This is the first time in over 20 yrs I won't be cooking for a houseful of friends and family. You need to check out Wally World, if you don't already have em, they were running a closeout on a whole bunch of John Deere stoneware.
Tom, We know you wouldn't do such a thing, we'll just blame it on Spankybird. [:)]

Attaboy Tombo! It takes tremendous courage and fortitude to open Christmas presents before Christmas and eat Easter candy before Easter...! I ate all this up last night!

Darn! The granddaughters will be at their own house for Easter morning, grandpop doen't get to help them with the candy. Any way I've have more than enough this week sampling broken bags at work.

Found a pack of farm animals at work this morning from a broken package, great for the layout. I'm guessing they're probably in the party favors section at Target, didn't see them in toys.

Guess I'll cut grass this afternoon, they're predicting thunder storms tonight and tomorrow, good train runni9ng weather.

Raining here and 50's. Supposed to rain through tomorrow morning. Too bad, we usually have a family picnic at the park after church. Now it is at my wife's sister's house after church.

Got a surprise last night. My 11 year old said let's run some trains. Had a great time with the TMCC crane car and the Lionel 080 switcher, moving parts and stuff. He also ran the switcher with the log dump car and the prewar lumber loader. Then he ran the CCII Trainmasters and then switched out for the NYC L3a.. First time he has done this in the 6 months or so.

Have a great Easter all!
Roy

HI Tim,

To answer your first question, it depends on what host you are using and what size the pic is when uploaded. The last couple of pics are hosed on a friends web page. He was over last weekend with Ed Boyle (from OGR Mag.). ( http://www.parisiconsulting.com/tompescha1.htm ) [8D] If I host them on my MTH site, they are usually at 640 wide, Sutterfly displays them at 480 wide.

The GIF’s also have to be hosted on a web host. I use my MTH site. Then they are displayed just like a photo with the img command. There are sites that you can download them free, but then you have to upload them to your host.

Hoppy soon-to-be Easter! Just got back from setting up for tomorrow's services at the high school. Took the kids to help - it was good for them to work and be part of volunteering. Last evening, I had an unexpected occasion to work on the layout - my wife went out partying with her girlfriends, and the kids didn't want to watch the movie she got - so while they played playstation together - something that never happens - I decided to ballast the entire layout using the tiny 'driveway' stones I swept up and washed last summer. Two and a half hours later, it looks great. I have to clean the track now but I feel like I really accomplished something. Have a great and blessed Easter. Going to go over to friend's home for supper. No local family thank goodness.

WARNING...NEVER TRY THIS

Do not celebrate St. Patrick's Day, then fly 2,500 miles to the party by the sea, then return to celebrate Easter. I'm about as tired as I can be this weekend and my butt is dragging on the ground. I'm so tired I can't even think of anything to crack on the Chief about. [:(]

Roger, love the photo. How about one without the train in front of the beautiful station. [:)] Could you give us some details about the station?

Chris is about as nifty as Tom with the pictures now. Buckeye, your butt is never that far from the ground. [:p] PETim is right about Marty and MA&PA. He is good folks. Full of grilled chicken, ham, beans, potatoes, slaw and corn bread. Topped of with coconut cake [creamcheese icing]. With lots of Sweet Ice Tea. [:D]

Buckeye, I'll try a photo sometime this week with the wife's digital, don't know if I can manage a front view. The station is my scratchbuilt version of the station at Glenwood Springs, CO. On one of our hunting trips a number of years back I took photos and measurements then drew up a design with selective compression.

I've been to Glenwood Springs via Amtrak and seen that station on the south side of the tracks! We must see your model. [8D]
