Good Morning,

A beautiful day on tap, this would be our 2nd day in the 70's. I know for some of you that's not a big deal, it is here! Nice to hear the birds singing in the morning instead of the furnace humming.

Have a good one.

Hi Marty,

Nice to see ya back here visiting. I couldn't open your wmv video file w/my MAC but sure it must be nice.

I arrived late to work today because my backwards running VRE coaster train collided with a construction train. Heard the whole thing over the conductor's radio. She was really shaken (she would be the engineer) and said her nerves are rattled. And, lots of damage to the locomotive, which actually is a passenger car running forward.

I'll try to get a picture of the crane up later (had my digital with me and snapped a picture of the crane thru the window. I'm oout of web space on Village Photo and will need to delete a picture to get this picture in until my MTH club membership arrives by snail mail so I can start posting there.

Watched Iron Maiden's Brazil concert Saturday and was surprised to see railroad tracks at the front of the stage with a toy train dolly that the performers rode during their acrobatic antics. Also, they swung from an overhead trolley.

Kept me interested in the concert vido at my buddy's house as he's trying to get me interested in heavy metal.

I also like the diffused lighting in the model photo

Here is a photo I took last night trying to show my ballast work from the weekend. Supposed to be in the 70s today. I hope I can get out to enjoy it - today is my 'long' day until 10 pm. Hope this works.

Now there is a photo I can wrap these old eyes around and see something. Who do you have to know to get hosting at DePaul University?

I am a little worried about the switchman's shack that seems to be astraddle the second (center) line on the left.

Nice ballast, by the way.

Worked great Doug. Clicked on it and enlarged it. Sunny and warm. Had another round of rain last night. Will it ever dry out? Real warm and will get into the 80's by Thursday. I'm off to Orlando on Thursday. Think I'll slip out to "Miss Edna's" today. Might just buy the rest of those grain cars. Hey, cough is getting better. Might just make it. Tom, train usually wins. [;)] Dave, why don't you use Shutterfly? Got tons of pictures on it and cost nothing. I really should delete some of mine on there. Hope Spring comes to all of you now. Hope you have a full head of steam and your whistle blows loud. [for Tom] God bless all.

Doug,

Very nice!

Chief,

I use shutterfly at home but at work I have a Mac and cannot get the URL out of the picture...unless you know a way to do it from a Mac. I may try again today to finagle it out somehow.

Good morning all!

Doug, that layout just keeps getting better. Pity the poor guy with the switchman's shack duty as Doug J points out! Does he get hazard pay?

Dave - your center rail came out really good. I like the way it looks.

And Tom - another beautiful photo of your layout.

I am looking for a better digital camera than the one I have as moving photos around with it is a pain. The present camera is several years old and the S/W is lousy and the H/W is not much better (no USB). My wife's niece's husband has me convinced that the Canon printer is the way to go. He has a Canon A70 that takes great pictures. Some of his fishing trip photos from up in Canada as printed with the dye process Canon uses are difficult if not impossible to tell from real photo prints and the ink/dye is very durable.

Cloudy, very windy, and supposed to hit 79 today.

Have a great day all.
Roy

Regards, Roy

Thanks everyone! Doug, it's just easier to upload these to my own account at DePaul - that's where I work. Ofoto doesn't let you copy a photo URL very well and as David say, shutterfly doesn't work easily on a Mac. The track isn't very straight, is it? The shack doesn't work yet - it's pre-war so he's just standing there with his lantern. Oh, now I see where you're looking - at the other track - that's the top of the Marx crane that straddles the track - you might make out the legs on either side of it. Have a good day.

That's the major problem with 2D depiction of a 3D scene. Now that I see what it is, I have figured out how the diesel misses it.

The comment about DePaul was in regard to image size. No matter what I upload to shutterfly, the load here is small. Jimbo has suggested some alternatives, but I haven't explored them yet. Too busy researching that expensive diecast of the 4-4-0 on another thread.[}:)]

Howdy folks!

Weather finally settled down and we have a pleasant day in central Alabama. Doug, I think the track looks fine when it's crooked (check out any prototype's yard or secondary lines). Always glad to see the pics of layout progress. Tom, thanks for your shots as well - very inspirational for another O-27 guy like me. Dave, thanks for showing your very creative approach to track work! Chief, glad you are feeling better.

Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning guys, hope everyone is doing well.

Doug good job on the ballest. I too thought it was a shack in the middle of the track. Eyes are older than I'm ya know.

Tom, cool pics of the town from yesteryear. Those look like good memories.

David and Doug, time to move up to a crappy PC. They are horrible, always have headaches, never work when you want, but they are compatable. I moved from Amiga to PC kicking and screaming. Still like my Amiga better, but no compatabiility.

Dr. John, just like SoCal, I think spring is coming to our two states someday. More prayer needed. Of course you know during August, we will be praying for rain and coolness.

Roy, how was the scouting outing...Yes a poet and I don't know it.

Skyray Doug, how are things in FL ?

Chief, glad you are feeling better, keep getting better. More smoke is the doctors recommendation. Train smoke non of that down south wacky tobaccy.

Laz, enjoying the EASTER holiday break ?

Take care all

Tim

It's a bright 75 here this afternoon. Nice looking work Doug.

Now that we had the rain the grass grew overnight, guess I'll go cut grass for a few hours and check back in here later this evening.

Great Videos. I have some I need to post. I have always wondered how many can see the videos, especially those with dial up.

Dave, if your train hit a construction crane load, somebody is going to see a really big fine. I can't believe they let them that close to a passenger rail line that is as active as you ride.

Finally we have a real spring day. Probably snow tomorrow or storm so bad that the streets flood.

Underworld, do you have a deck with a top rail? With a little work, the train can run on the top of the deck rail.

Now Buckeye, would I wish anything bad [snow or flood] on my Yankee Friends in Ohio??[?] [;)] I disked my garden today. Put on the lime and and disked it in. Was a little heavy but did OK except the back low corner. Came out of there three times with nothing but the back wheels of the tractor on the ground. [:0] Sandy loam soil [no clay] so it will dry out with disking. Hope to disk it a couple more times tomorrow and then make a row and one bed. Got squash plants too big in greenhouse and must plant. If it frosts anytime soon, I'll put plastic pots over them. Not calling for any cold temps for a week. May just get by. Wife gone to Red Hat Club [she is too young so she wears pink] so I will go run trains. [:D] Later

Hey Redhawk, the some of the CNs wanted to run some.

Was going to get the 4 other Gov't of Canada grain cars from Miss Edna and she said wait. She was not going to let them go anywhere. Got two Canadian National grain cars coming by mail order. With 7 Gov't of Canada and two CN cars, I should have a good grain train.
