Good Morning,

Sure fun to read about the old cars, brings back a lot fun memories and it sounds like by the Grace of God that we are all still alive. I know on my first car that I got up to 105 mph and heard a knocking, it got worse. That was the end of that car.

I just realized that it was 1972 that I had my last 8 cyclinder car but now I have two. It really helps getting across Nebraska to get to Colorado, just set the cruise at 82 (speed limit is 75 in NE) and turn up the tunes. The troopers don't play fair in NE, they use confiscated Corvette's and Camaro's/Trans Ams to slow you down. I wouldn't want to be the trooper who has to sit in a Corvette all day, hope he's young.

Roy--be sure to watch out for the snow snakes and do a snow dance while you are there, we are headed to Steamboat and Winter Park at the end of the month.

Now that we are on a new page - the good news is that the screen is not being stretched across anymore - at least on my PC.

Jon - liberal use of antifreeze minimizes snow snake attacks (or at least the affects later!).

This is a mess. Had to go find the reply box [well almost]. [;)] Hey, I have two
identical Lionel NS SD80's. How do I tell them apart on the track [or anywhere]?
My solution was to find a small white [since the engine is black] letter decal [no
real small numbers on the sheet] and decaled each engine [with a diffferent
letter for each engine] on both sides of the edge of the fuel tank. Now as the
engines pass, I can tell which one is which. The "average Joe" will not see it.

Good afternoon all, hope everyone is doing well.

Daan, my parents first car after they got married was a Citroen. Don't know which one, but I will ask.

I have no cleaning to do, kids have practice, so I get to either build 1 more bench, or play trains. hhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm [;)][;)][;)][;)][;)]

Roy, if you get a chance do some train watching in the mountains of Colorado, it is great! There is nothing like it in Ohio. Huge big diesels groaning as they climb up the passes. North of Vail along the Colorado River are some great spots. You look down into the canyon and see the trains snake through several small tunnels. It looks like a real detailed model traversing the biggest layout in the world.

Have fun and don't break anything.

Thanks Buckeye,

A few years ago we did a river raft trip down the Colorado where the tracks run along the walls of the river gorge. Like you said - pretty interesting to see them snake along passing through "toy" tunnels. I have also been down the Royal Gorge. Another interesting spot is the overlook at Moffat tunnel at Winter Park.

Talk to you guys when I get back.

Chief, Why not renumber one of the engines? The only number to change would be the last number on one so you could have sequential numbers.

Good evening, it was a nice day here in the desert with a high around 60 and sunny. I still have not decided what train set I am going to start out with, but I am having fun researching it on the web. I have only changed my mine about five times so far. Take care everyone.

Morning GUYS,
It is WANKING COLD this morning @ 7 Degrees. Is That the right way to put it CHIEF?
A little down south (TEXASS) humor.
SPANKYBIRD nice smoker.
Has anyone experienced putting a circut breaker in their setup and had either train address problems or track problems? I have put the TMCC lockon iwith the circut breaker the one that looks like a little silver house on the layout. I am having problems withmy TMCC engine on a 10 foot sectionm of track. I have cleaned the track and changed the track but when it comes to that section the light starts to flicker and will stop. With lots of turning the TMCC dial it will start again. Anyone ever come accross this?
Have a good one and lets be safe out there.

good morning folks. Chilley as heck in southwest Florida. Gonna be a cold ride downtown this morning.

Have been sooo busy have not gone near a train, but did mange to doodle on my layout a bit. The thing has taken on a life of it's own. Am thinking of getting teh RR Track software. Everyone who uses it seems to be pleased with it. Only drawback being, it's not downloadable, and placing an order and waiting is like waiting for Christmas morning.

I am definately an instant gratification type.

Hope everyone has a great day.

LAZ, I'm not an TMCC expert [just getting started with it] but sounds like a signal problem. Try soldering a jumper from one outside rail to the other outside rail. Read November CTT and see if you get some hints. Good luck.

Off to down east to Mom's today. Get some real PORK eastern NC bar-be-que. [:D] Now Tom and Buckeye, you need to calm down. Calling for more snow/ice on Thursday. [:(][:(!] All have a great day and God bless all.

Renumbering engine: Thought about renumbering but want to make sure paint matches as will probably have to black out the number and re-decal. I have the decals with numbers. Don't think I can get the number off without damaging the black paint. I have the correct NS black but did Lionel use that color? Got any suggestions?

in the sixties - probably 64-65-66 or somewhere in there, an Indians outfielder (who was a nifty player in his own right) - owned a mens clothing store in Cleveland featuring the latest styles - which in those days were iradescent (sp?) suits and the like.

The player - Leon Wagner, nicknamed "Daddy Wags" had a slogan in his advertising:

"Buy your rags from Daddy Wags"

and that's the rest of the story . . .

Got my White Sox tickets in the mail yesterday! I'll see two games - one with each older child (Detroit and Minnesota).I've never been to the 'new' park.

In the high twenties this morning - no wind - seems balmy.

I noticed NS put a few chemical cars in the water yesterday. I can remember years ago a leaking tank car inadvertently rolling into our town's major intersection off the C&NW storage tracks that used to be a main line clear to Elgin. Scared the heck out of everyone.

The news here this morning is bicyclists again trying to get Metra to accept bikes on trains. HIghlight of the day: while coming into workd, I saw three C&NW herald box cars today in Chicago's North Ave yard amidst the usual sea of CN newsprint cars.

Laz, you are right...one of the reasons I'm not going to Wrigley this year is the prices. The Sox are the underdogs in town so they try harder - with 1/2 price Mondays - so my ducats are about $20 each for field-level seats- plus some handling fees from Ticketmaster. I also paid $17 for a parking pass that lets me park a bit closer. Even with security, it's an iffy neighborhood to come out into at 10 pm. If I buy 'em a hat ahead of time somewhere, I hope I can get out of there for $90 per game. If I was smart, I'd go see the minor leaguers...

DOUG,
You are doing fine to get out of there at $90. I wi***hey would start treating the fans again to keep the pricing fare. All their stuff very high priced please MLB give us a break. But still the game is still one of the best things about the sport. See the ball hit the ball field the ball. One of the best places I ever saw a game was in Detroit abot 12 years ago in old Tigers stadium. I got there in the first inning and saw one of the venders was beaten up. He was mugged even before the game started. They even had signes in the left field corner that said it was not a recommended exit after 11PM. But to see a game there was unbelievable you were that close to the action on the first or third base lines but very lonely in center field at the flag pole. I really miss that place and be one of most memerable experiences at a MLB ball game.

I know what you mean, laz. Even I remember going to Wrigley when I lived a block away in the late 80s, walking right in for a weekday game, with no-body in the park, sitting down behind the pitchers, who would talk baseball with you. Last year I took my boy to my first night game there (I still hate the lights) and endured heroically drunken yuppies yammering on cell phones - and lots of ridiculous 'entertainment' - like they're afraid the game isn't good enough. I worked across from Comiskey and used to go over to pick up some bricks when they did tuck-pointing. (Have a few holding up an old chair...) With the sun streamling through the arches in early evening and the lights coming on, it was hard to tell what decade it was... Frank, that's a great line for Daddy's store... How many more days until Spring training? [:D]
