Larry, if you would have drop a 289cu in with a 4 barrel in it, you would have had a poor man Mustang.

It bent the frame a little, but her mustang was totalled. Falcon, a great car. I remeber gas back then too. Now the tax here is higher than the price per gallon back then.

Larry, since you are serving this page, I'll take a double coffee, with a shot of Irish creme this morning.

Tom, the parrots didn't come by this morning like the last few days. Maybe they sleep in on weekends. [:D]

It is a mess here in NE GA today. Frozen rain and sleet on the roads when I left at 6:15 but drivable if you took your time and had a soft foot on the breaks. Worst problem was ice building up on the wipers. On the way home at noon more of a slush, temp. at 28, and the biggest problems were the idiots that think they can still do 50 with 6" of slush on the road and the other extreme those that have no business being out doing 15 or at most 20.

For those that asked, the A5 is with TMCC. As mentioned I want to make sure that Lionel does make the CB&Q 0-8-0 before I sell it. We all know how many items show up in the catalogues but never make the stores.

Gentlemen, After working construction in 1970 at the tender age of 17, I had enough money to buy a 64 1/2 Ford Mustang for $900. It was the 6 cylinder, with four bolt wheels, the Falcon in Horse's clothing. What a cool looking car and since the women couldn't tell the difference between a six and an eight, it was a chick magnet.

the 6 cylinders were the chick cars, the 289 was for the boy. This was one of the first cars that had something like 40% bought by women ( the 6 cyclinder type)

I'll bet the '57 Golden Hawk with the Packard V8 and Paxton Blower (it came stock with it) might fetch a few bucks... I never cared for the fins and the Power Hawk was the cheap version in the Hawk series. And I think I was the only kid in town that drove a Stude...considered by many to be a "gramma's car". When the engine hit 7,000 RPM they paid attention...(wink)

The original motor in it was a Stude 259 with a single 4 bbl. 3 speed on the column, but it had electronic overdrive in each gear so it was really a 6 speed. Fun!!!

Hi all,

My first was a "66 Ply Belvdere II with a 273 (I may be off a bit) solid pushrod v-8. Neat little engine. My second car was a red Ply Satellite w/383. I still have my old mileage book. About 6 mi/gal. Gas was 25 cents or less and when they had gas wars where I lived in Houston - it got as low as 6-9 cents per gallon. There used to be 4 gas stations at the intersection into our neighborhood. There is only 1 left now and I kind of miss the gas wars. My old man and I used to go driving just because the gas was so cheap!

Have a great weekend all!

Regards,
Roy

The auction is on. [8D]
My very first car was a 53 Ply 4dr, cost me all of $15 and a couple of hours spent rebuilding the brake system. But that was back in 63. Fond memories[^]

Nothing falling yet. Think the western and central part of NC is getting stuff. Actually 34 degrees here. Warmer than forecasted. We'll see. Town Board retreat is over. [:D] Now fill bird feeders again and run trains. Pam is in Raleigh at a play.

My first car was a '59 Chrysler Windsor with a 383, it had a 2 barrel that had more throat than most 4's. At the track my only nemisis in E stock auto was a Stude. Golden with, I think, injection. He'd always take me on top end in the last 1/16 th mile.

Roger,
I ran E stock auto a few times with a 58 Pontiac, won once. After watching the auction I can kick myself for getting rid of my 65 GTO. But at the time it was a matter of buying gas or groceries. It had the 389 bored out 80 over with a carter AFB the size of a 5 gal garbage can, it seemed like the speedometer and gas gauge operated in unison one went up the other dropped like a rock.[:D]

After I got done with that six cylinder in auto shop class, it would run. [:D] until I hit the back end of a telephone truck. [xx(]

If she does come over to run trains (and/or other things...), she'll take one whiff of that godawful smellin' DIESEL smoke and promptly leave! Now, if you would have listened to Tom and used some Vanilla, Bayberry, or Christmas Pine scented JT Smoke, she would have asked you where you keep your wine goblets and commented how long your train was...and...

They never listen, do they Tom?

Roger,

Regarding the A5, your original question was about value. I believe that a TMCC equipped A5 recently sold on the OGR buy/sell board for $285.00. This one was listed as "mint and sealed in original shipping carton."

After shuffling boxes around for the umpteenth time again today I need to part with several items before I think about getting any more.

Hi everyone,
It's been a long time. Didn't have much traintime, though I started building a mountain in the back of the layout. I mostly searched internet and bikesales for a good used motorbike.
In the end I found a BMW K100 in very nice shape. 1000cc, 90hp and 86Nm torque, shaft drive. It's a naked bike, I don't like the big hull on the rs and rt's.
My grilfriend bought a smaller yamaha V-twin. I'm at work now, so picture posting is not possible..
Hope everyone is doing fine,

cheers! Daan.

Good early morning all, at 1:30 am I finished my benchwork, put the existing plywood layout on top and ran trains. Cleaned up the garage, got the wife excited that we can walk thru the garage again. I am so charged up that I think after church tomorrow, I can build another bench. Woooooooo Hoooooooo.

Daan good to see you alive and back. Congrats on the new bike, just be careful out there.

Chief, did you let her play with your train. Woo Hoo...[}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)]

Tom, again congrats on 5 stars.

Chris how have you been ?

Buckeye, if you move, than would that make you a Carolina Riveter ?????

Now Jim, down in Texass they know how to treat a lady. [C):-)]

Walked out to the road to get the morning paper at 6:30, would you believe they let a little ice on the roads [;)] make them late with the Sunday paper. Now I have to eat breakfast without the comics.[:(]

Looks like it might have warmed up a bit over night, some ice has melted off but the roads are still slick. If I feel energetic I might go "prune" some branches the ice has lowered over the driveway while I can reach them. We lost power for a little over an hour last night, saw a couple of bright blue flashes outside, like lightening, and thought it was our transformer, checked it out and no sign of blowing, walked out to the road and the street lights were out. If it were the trans. it'd probably be a few days for replacement. [:D]

Chief, if it's reached youstay home and be safe.
