CHIEF,
You probably were at the Strassburg Railroad home of the toy train museum, and TCA. Never been there but they say that it is nice. The wife and I are to go there this summer.

Hello everyone, It is raining in the desert this morning. I'm not complaining though, rain is needed around here. Besides it will rinse some of the dust off of the car and we do get more than our share of sunshine around here. One bad thing, I won't get my walk in...do not like walking in the rain. Maybe tomorrow.

Good afternoon all, 68F here in GA at 3:30. Haven't seen the weather recently but they were forcasting falling into the 20's late Friday with freezing rain for Sat., guess Sat. will be a good train day after I get home from w***.

I've noticed that recently my location doesn't show on my posts. It is in my profile, is there something that changed or that I need to do?

Tested my Lionel Hudson after replacing the smoke resistor, it smokes but I'm convinced that the mechanical system in this engine just doesn't pump enought air to move the smoke.

BC Bill, you doing better? I have a sharp pain if I reach wrong. Runs from the center of my chest at the "zipper" to my right nipple. A nerve that has not repaired from my chest being split open. Guess digging post holes this soon is not good but got to get back into the swing of things. Only two more to dig. Got waylayed this PM. Neighbor that now lives in Florida and selling house Friday had water line rupture and water was running into the street. Got it shut off from him and got plumber to come and repair. Had not been for that, fence would be done. I did slip away and go to the Tain Lady's. Picked up a MTH NS Dash 8 dummy. Looks good behind the NS SD80 MAC I got by "Brown" today. Yes, taht makes two just alike. This one is louder and smokes more. [:D] Now when the CAB1 comes, I will do a lashup with the dummy in the middle. That will be some power. [:D]

Gettin' caught up on the posts, glad I'm home with hi-speed cable instead of dial-up I had to use in Florida.
Tom, One of the parrots that Tim was talking about, if memory serves me correctly, was a Hyacinth Macaw. One of the local tv stations did a story on the flock a couple of years ago when they were roosting in an Ocean Beach neighborhood. That bird is worth some BIG BUCKS. I believe there were also some Scarlets and Blue & Gold, but probably not as polite as Spanky. [:D]

[:D][:D][:D] Hi Guys, Been hard at w--k all week. Having beautiful warm weather, so unusual. High today was 42. lows 28. Possible snow this weekend.
Today was a teriffic day. Received my CTT and UPS came. He brought my Lionel Camelback w/tmcc. Got her hooked up and runs great, and sounds great. My wife says I have to get more steam engines, she likes them much more. This is the first steam that I have bought. The only other one I have is a Marx from my childhood ( 1 st one).

Hey Spanky, I ordered a General , nothing fancy, the James Gang, should be here any day. It's always a good day when Brown delivers trains.

Hey Chief , What's this I hear about you folks in NC putting live people in body bags? Caught that on FOX NEWS tonight. Better be careful where you rest , you may end up in a body bag.

PETIM, why I'm outside taking down old fence and putting up new fence. Affraid they might get me. [;)] It was in Franklin County just north of me. Those folks are so backwards and yet are near the BIG city. It is a shame. You'd think they were from the mountains of OHIO. [;)] The Sheriff was interviewed the other night on TV. Think he made 10 grammatical errors in one sentence. Looked at my wife's sister [who lives in Franklin County] and said, "I think I will move to Franklin County and run for Sheriff." There was a big laugh and she shook her head. Bet some folks get fired over that. Time for bed for this old man. Sore joints. [;)]

Buckeye, Thanks for letting me know about the online manuals, but I actually already knew about them. The problem is that I am not able to read any PDF files on the computer that I am currently using. I am using a Dell laptop with a large external monitor attached to it. I need the larger screen size because of my very poor and not correctable vision. For some strange reason you can not use an external monitor and have any Adobe products on your computer at the same time.

It is currently -15° F back home in Michigan. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Morning Folks,
Chief,
Franklin County, Ohio sounds a lot like Franklin County, KY. 10 grammatical errors in one sentence? Heck, it wouldn't suprise me if one of our public officials made 20 or more in one sentence. There are times when you're embarrased to be from Kentucky, especially when they have someone like that on the National News.

Buckeye,
Indeed it's true.

Hope that you all have a good day!

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio is crisp this morning at 11 deg and to night going down to 0 deg. Put an extra log on the fire.

Doug and Tubo – the Hyacinth Macaw is worth between $10,000 and $15,000, it is the largest of the parrots and very beautiful at that, a friend of my has one. I also have a friend who has a Scarlet Macaw. You know, birds of a feather thing.

Chief, just remember on the Cab1, that thing out the top of it isn’t for fishing.

PE Tim – Now that you have started on the General’s, you won’t be happy until you get an MTH one.

Laz – I have to agree

PE Tim,

When you recieve your James Gang engine, check it to see if it is AC or DC. Some were made for DC only.

Chief--

I must admit I haven't kept up with all the posts lately as I'm trying to become the next Cecil B. DeMills of cinematography (you young guys will need to Google Cecil) but I am interested in your lash ups. Are you combining MTH and Lionel? That interests me for the future so I'm curious as to how successful you are with that combination, let me know.

One more question. For Christmas I received a really nice volt meter from my wife. She ordered it from OGR and it's the Velleman, I have no idea how to use it and all I want to do is check track strength around the layout. Who can tell me what to set the dial at? The directions are written for a master electrician, not me.

Have a good one.

Hello Everyone ! The James Gang set is D.C. if Tim wants to run it on A.C. He'll have to get a circuit board to convert from A.C. to D.C. and the rolling stock has plastic wheels which he can change to metal if he has any # 154 Highway Flashers on the layout. Hope everyone has a nice day................Keith

Morning gang. Turned from working outside in shirt sleves to heavy coat today. Tom's fault. Jon, the MTH is a dummy. I did notice that the power trucks with the gears are there. Guess I could get the motors and works and make it power. I am going to get some pickups and make it lighted with switch under the frame. Then I can put it in lead if I want too [would be pushed and not towed]. Out to work on the fence. God bless all.

Morning all!

Jon - the voltmeter will have a place on the selector knob to choose a range of voltage measurement for AC or DC. Some of my comments assume you got the digital meter (vs the analog).

You will want to choose AC with the range to include 20 volts (so you may have a selection position for 100 or 200 volts - use this one). If the voltage you are measuring goes above the range you select - the meter readout will go blank. This does not mean anything is wrong. You just need to go up to the next range.

Make sure the test leads are plugged into the appropriate sockets - ground and the socket for volts/ohms (ohms is represented by the Greek symbol Omega). There is also a sepcial socket for high current (10 amps).

If you want other help - email me your phone number and we can set a time to walk you through it if you wish. I can call you at no expense (I have nationwide long distance).

Just started raining here.

Chief - when you fini***hat fence, I have two short ones with gates that need replacing. You could come down, run some trains, warm up, and give me some advice (you can watch).

Regards,
Roy

Hey happy gang. Thought I would share my big 400 with all the cool guys.

Tom got me thinking about catching a big blue, that would pay for lots of trains. [4:-)][4:-)]

Doug, no screaming now, hope all teeth do well.

Sounds like you back east folk are warming up. Glad you can thaw out for a while.

That sound you here is benchwork calling. Build me, build me. Can't wait. WWWooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo HhOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Won't be long and long trains will be running, not just my little 4 x 8. Still have the Santa set up in the house with Thomas and Friends. Little circle trains make you really appreciate what you can do on a "large" 4 x 8.

Still want to build a backyard O layout. Ahhhhhhhh where is that big blue bird.

Take care all and thanks for being friends with this cold, at the end of the train line San Diego guy.

Did a lot of runnin' around in the Port Charlotte area and I was surprised by the amount of damage still there from hurricane Charley, Several pretty good sized shopping centers almost empty still waiting for structural repairs and lots of homes and commercial buildings with tarps on their roof. After the hurricane went thru you saw lots of building damage on the news but what they didn't show was the rural areas. Everywhere you drove you would see large stands trees, predominantly pine, either blown down or broken in half. But it did look like the citrus crops were doing ok.
I definitely prefer to put up with the occaissional earthquake.

[:D][:D] No DC Here, only AC.. The General is the 6-18723. Just unpacked it and it runs good. It's a strong little puller for its size. Bought it from Grand Central, along with some other stuff. They were very nice and ship quickly. I have'nt bought anything from them since pre-internet days, 1986 I think. But I would recommend them for anyone who uses mail order.

Light rain and 37. Calling for valley rain/mountain snow...Tim
