FENCE IS DONE!!!!!! [just broke two of Chris' rules/forum equate]. [:D] About 75 feet taken down and new post and wire back up. Cold wind all afternoon.

PETim, wife says that the guy being alive is God's miracle. "He was dead and God brought him back to life." "Why are people says the EMT's messed up?" Lady has got something there.

Think I will go upstairs and run trains for a while. Wife has chimes choir tonight. You can believe that when she gets home, Pam the bloodhound will sniff and say, "You've been running trains." That is always followed by a smile.
Time to rest my aches. [;)]

Chris, no it is Lionel. [;)] [see what Tom says]
PETim, I have had good "dealings" with Grand Central too. I look at their adds first in the CTT and OGR. Then I go to the others. Some good buys in the lastest CTT.

Chris, don't mater who it is, it's a great looking K4. If it's a Lionel, then it has a fan driven smoke unit. The higher end Lionel finally did add that.

M1A???? I carried one of those [M14] for almost two years in 1968 and 1969. [:D][;)] OH, you mean train engine. Great smoke. JT's and the newest Lionel SD80 just ran me out of upstairs [cough cough]. Was doing some switching and the engine was doing a lot of idling and slow moving back and forth. Engine reves up and down and the smoke responds. Fun playing trains. Now I will go get my Tootsie Roll Pop and watch TV. I'm 5 going on 58. [:D]

Tom,
I'm heading your way! I am going to be staying overnight in your neck of the woods in about two weeks. I'll email you the details, but maybe we can meet at The Station after work to plan our next winter wonderland strategy for the Chief. We still haven't sent him much freezing rain this year. [}:)]

Tom, Did you happen to catch the 57 Chevy PU that went on the block earlier? I had to make a pit stop so I missed the final price, believe it was approaching $50. Absolutely unbelieveable.........

I thought it went for only $44,000, but I was on the phone with my sister at the time.

If you are not careful, a new on will cost you 44 K too. Now lets buys a Ranger Bass Boat 50K and a Suburban to tow it 40K. What price [with gas prices today and the boat has a 225 hp and the truck drinks it too] is that for each fish caught. Trains are cheaper. [;)]

Screw gun is charged. Man is on a mission. 11:30 my time, all four legs are attached. The benchwork is standing upright. Repeat the benchwork is standing upright. Still have to add the carriage bolts, but can't make that much noise late at night. Tomorrow I will add the bolts, attach the plywood, and have a 48 inch high honest to goodness train table.

[banghead]The exciting part is I don't use power tools, I don't build anything, I am a full on computer user, and a salesperson. The last 4 weeks I've been helping on a contractor friend, and I've learned a lot. So, I read, and read, and read on how to, I bought the wood, the screws, I charged the wife's power tools, and I built it. I asked a lot of questions on these forums, and now

Wooooooooooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooo [swg][swg][swg][swg]

we have bench. The first of my 4 x 8 tables is almost done. Tomorrow it will be finished, then 3 more benches to go. But yes, big slap on back, I did it. Thanks to all of you who were patient with my many questions, and inquiry's. [bow]

Hopefully I will have some pics to include in the Sunday pictures. [8D]

It's a balmy 31 here in GA this morning, clouding up and still talking freezing rain overnight, should be fun leaving for w**k at 6:15 tomorrow. Today's one of my off days but I think I'll probably do more here than at the store. Need to make a run to the dump to get rid of an old drier, carpet, some ceiling tiles (already used all I needed for the layout) and assorted other stuff that's accumulated. Hopefully I don't have to pick up the granddaughters from school, if not I should have most of the afternoon to devote to the trains.

Have a good day all.

Good Morning all,

NE Ohio is a cool 1 deg with wind chill at -8 this morning. You got to love winter.

If any of you are car buffs, be sure to tune into the Speed Channel for the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction. In the past, cars have sold for over $300,000 each. Last night a 67 vette with 427 sold for $145,000.

Morning gang. The "Coffee Pot" is getting so busy, you have to look at a back page to keep up. [8D]

Hey TurboTim, splain the comment, "charged the wife's power tools." [snicker]

Cold here and so I'm going to drink coffee and run trains. Maybe an errand or two later in the day. Got Town Borad retreat tomorrow in Raleigh. Calling for freezing stuff and maybe some SNOWHIO tomorrow PM into Sunday AM. All have a good day and God bless all.

Low 50's in southwest Florida. Got to get some stuff out this morning, so I'll be on the motorcycle in a couple of hours. By then, hopefuly it'll be high 60's.

No track layout yet = no trains to run. I'll get my fix with some layout planning this weekend. Maybe buy some 2 x 4's. [:D]

In today's Washington Post, there's an article about a new way to lose fat, provided by researchers at Mayo to the journal Science.

Fidget.

They monitored people w/electronic probes in their butt and other areas and found that fidgeters lose 350 calories more per day (like doing a treadmill for an hour!) than less fidgetty people. Monitors in butt showed they get up a lot, stretch, move about, squirm around, etc.

They say that fidgeting is a genetic thing but could probably be learned. I'm sure w/remote controls and stuff, it's harder to get up and fidget these days.

TurboTim--

The sun is just coming up on your empire to be. I would love to be at the point you are at right now. Now that our layout is completed I am really anxious to start planning the next one, in fact I have already started writing things down that I want to do and what NOT to do. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed building, laying trackwork and wiring.

Be sure and take lots of pics, starting with the bare room and think about writing a journal with the pics. It's going to be a great journey, way to go.

Jon
PS
I just got my new CTT yesterday and I think the 6 deadly sins on pg. 66 need to be laminated and posted on everyone's layout room. In fact, the whole article should be required reading for anyone contemplating a layout, super adivce.

Jon

Go TurboTim Go! Can't wait to see what you build. Bitter cold here today thanks to a stiff wind. I just had to drink up the last of the cocoa to warm up (I'm the first one here, the early bird gets the worm, etc.) Gosh, Chris, what a smoker - looks as powerful as some of Tom's. Management here has agreed to a moratorium on smoke in the basement as it makes her nervous about its effect on all the kids who play down there. Don't get her started on radon.....

Fellow car buffs, you should check out some of the offerings for sale at the Volo (IL) Auto Museum.

Doug, I have a buddy here who works on contract as a home inspector for FEMA - he spent 2 months down in FL this past hurricane season. They don't expect some of the commercial and home damage to be fixed back to code for more than 2 YEARS. The construction cos. are all going full-blast. Glad we don't get hurricanes, torrential downpours, earthquakes, mud-slides here in Illinois - more snow on the way though - can I call it OHIO? ;)

BTW, do you have a schedule or routine by which you care for your engines? I've realized I haven't lubed my Ballyhoo engine since I got it - both 2-4-2s were repaired and lubed this past year - but I haven't ever touched the FA and 248...
