Good Morning,

You guy's have been busy since I left Friday plus I had 40 emails to check out. My next purchase will be a lap top computer, it's surprising how much I miss keeping up with trivial stuff.

My first car--'54 Dodge and it had a small hemi, it was my grandfathers and was one of the first automatic transmissions, hey I was just happy to have wheels. 2nd car was '68 Roadrunner with the big hemi, it was a gift to me from me for graduating from college. No A/C, no automatic, no nice stereo, vinyl seats, no cruise, no power windows but she took no prisoners. What a car! Took a couple of friends to KC one day--gas was .18 a gallon--that's also why Missouri had horrible roads. Got t-boned one year later by a drunk and totaled it, sure wish I still had it but I took the money and that began my downward spiral with average cars.

My goal within the next few years is to find a sporty convertible and take 2-3 weeks and head to Chicago and do Route 66 to the west. I've already checked several web sites and it looks like a fun trip. I think either a trip befoe Memeorial Day or right after Labor Day would be ideal. Anyone here tried it?

I don't think I've ever lost my desire to have another muscle car, what a rush. The only other time I've experienced that rush was when I had my big Kawasaki 1000 motorcyle, you did have to hang onto the handlebars. I sold that when my oldest son turned 15............

Jon----still trying to catch up on all the missed news.

Jon

So many roads, so little time.

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio has Blue Clear Skies this morning with temp at 28 deg. It’s been a while since we had clear skies.

Jonadel – If you have seen what the 426 hemi’s have been selling for on the Barrett-Jackson Auctions (Speed Channel today at 2:00 to 6:00pm est) , you would be sick.

Yesterday they had a record sale of ’53 Olds F88 concept car (looked like a vette) for 3 Million Dollars.

Ben - [bday] [bday] [bday] [bday] [bday] [bday] [bday] [bday]
Hope you get some trains. There is always room for one more.

Daan – be sure to leave time for us train buddies.

All be safe
tom

GOOD MORNING,
Happ Birthday BEN[bday][bday][bday] Hope you get flanged wheels on your BDay.
SPANKYBIRD congrats on your fifth star, YOU DA MAN.
See last night that Olds think it was a '53 went for $3 million pretty car but I would buy other things like a nicer house trains etc...................
CHIEF did you get the ENGINE out of the ol round house last night to play[:-,][;)]
Got some OHIO last night bout an inch. Did driveways allready.
Talking about first cars mine was a straight 6 Ramble American 1966 vintage., $500.
TOM tried reprograming the DCS and still no address using the hand held but the variable track works great. Don't know if those circut breakers have anything to do with the foul up.
Have a good one and be safe out there.

Thanks for the happy birthday, folks.

Nothing strictly train related per se, but I am getting a new variable speed dremel to replace my older 2-speed model. The 2-speed has served me well for several years, but I've encountered enough projects that require more precise control of the speed that I think its time has come for replacement. You can be assured that the new tool will certainly be used on trains[:)].

Good morning everyone, and Happy Birthday Ben. My first car was a 1961 Ford Sunliner Convertible with a six cylinder and a stick shift. Bought it for $250 when I was in the 11th grade in 1967. I was one of the few kids in high school who had a car so it was cool. It wasn't much but wheels are wheels. It looks like the rain has ended and the sun is back out.

[bday][bday] BEN. Who can sleep late with all this noise. [:(!] Jon, when I go out
for the BPS and Cablea's shows and get back, got 80 or more to go through.

Well, the Buckeyes were foiled again. What little ice that was in the trees has melted.
[:D] Hope Roger can dig out now and has not got power problems. Think I'll go run
trains. Smoke up the place. Might even run some of those air polluting coal burners.

Hello all, hope everyone is doing well.

[bday][bday] Ben, hope you had a great one.

buckeye, glad I save you from a slower life. [:D][:D]

I bet we all wish we had our first car again. Think of how rich we all would be. Mine was a 59 VW bug, non sycronized first gear, and a little switch that you flipped with your foot when you got low on gas, and a knob below the seat to get the heat to work. $300

Gonna decide if I start on the next bench, or just play with the 4 x 8 today.

Take care all

Power's been on all day, just a few blips this morning, enough to start the digital clocks blinking, stable all afternoon. Been in the mid 30's and melting off nicely. Went out and ran the trains for a while, broke up my mixed freight consist and put together a coal drag. I'll run that as my freight for a few weeks. My passenger consist is the CZ with either my Hudson or a set of E8's on the lead, I change power after several loops around the layout ,like the proto's.

[bday] Ben! [bday]

Still raining here and high 40's low 50's. Supposed to rain for several more days. We can always use it here.

I preordered the TMCC NYC Boom Car (with sound) to go with my TMCC NYC crane. I guess I got my wish when I said a few weeks ago that a sound car was needed for the crane! I also odered the silver PFE set. Nice!

Have a great day all!

Good Morning All,

NE Ohio is cool and quite at 18 deg and some local fog.

Ben is a year older and wiser.

This weekend auto auction has some great cars, wish I could afford one of them. Guess I will have to settle for the diecast ones.

I was surprised how well everyone like the Studebaker Reunion, maybe later this week we will do a GOAT reunion. Get you pics ready.

Pick of the Day

Hi, ho, hi, ho, its off to w**k, we go........

It's Super Bowl Week and the talking heads will tell you everything you don't want to know.

The revised main power loop on the layout is completed and I believe I am getting a better quality signal and better engine control. Next up , a rewire of accessories.

last night took photos of my layout construction and will post today or tomorrow probably.

BB the beagle says hi. She cut her paw and is limping around. Put neosporan on it per vet's advice. Applied bandage but she chewed it off and ate it.

The price of dogbones in the pet section is astronomical. So I went to the meat section and asked if there were any bones they were throwing out. When I was a poor kid (we were so poor we didn't have a phone, car, never ate out etc), that we would make soup from these bones.

"NO," I was told. Everything including bones are repackaged now and sold. The entire animal!!! The butcher lady told me that other enterprising (read that cheapskates) like me find bone bargains and the stores make a good penny off these bones that used to get thrown away.

A bone can entertain BB for hours. Almost as amazing as a toy train entertaining me for hours.

Dave,
If you are going to give BB any bones, be sure to only give her a knuckle bone. These are soft after cooking the blood out and won’t splinter. Many dogs have cut up their stomachs and intestines on bone splinters.

My goodness, I can't believe what I miss after one day offline.
Hope you resisted temptation, Chief... My first car was a '74 Dodge Charger I got for an unbelievable $300 in a silent auction when I was 16. I remember calling my dad AFTER I learned I
won to see if I could get it. Still remember getting that car over 110 over the hills and curves of Connecticut's Merritt Parkway. I should've been killed. I spent the weekend working on my
giganticallly long isolated track section (to work my crossing flashers more appropriately) - about half-way there. Prying up those 027 ties is hard...

Back home.. The first car I had won't be known by many of you guys, I had a citroen BX as my 1st car.
It had Hydraulic suspention and a 1400cc engine in it.. With onl;y 4 cylinders.. Gas wasn't cheap at our
side of the globe, and it still isn't (1,25 euro's a litre, about 5 dollars/ gallon). Afterwards I drove the following cars:
Nissan Patrol 3.3D, BMW m5 (hold your wife, it's superfast, I drove over 200km/h with it), autobianchi (italian),
VW passat, GMC VANDURA (YESS, with sidepipes and holly carb, 5.7 V8 pure grouwl, but far too expensive)
mercedes 190d, opel astra, ford sierra 2.0 dohc (extremely fast stationwagon) citroen xantia 2.0 station adn now for
1 1/2 year a suzuki jimny. The last one stay's..
I also had motorcycle's: Suzuki GS850G shaftdrive, suzuki GS 650G shaft drive, Honda VF750F and now a BMW F100.
It's quite a list, but it was worth it.
I usually had every car a year or so 'till the next annual checkup, only the GMC vandura and the BMW M5 where too
expensive to keep long..

Weather here is drizzle, though we had sun this morning, and I went to the beach wih the doggies to play..
Hope you all are fine, nice to see al those beautifull car's of the 60's!!
Daan. I'm Dutch, but only by country...

much to do today. What has happened to Jon? The cold freeze up his

Good morning all!

I think it is Hans' post of H B'Day's across the screen that is causing the thread to go across the screen.
Maybe he could try editing it and putting some carriage returns in the middle. That is what I am doing here to keep
this on screen.

I leave tomorrow for a ski trip with some old friends. Going to Breckenridge, CO. I haven't seen one of these
guys in over 10 years.

So I will be out of touch until next Sun or Mon.

Cold and drizzly here. Not going to change all week and there is some possibility of snow flurries on Wed.

Have a great week all!

That's gotta be it, Roy. I kept typing and it kept going on and on to the right. Like Frank, I hought I broke something myself.
Daan, your newest motorcycle sounds wonderful. I've never been on one. Ran my Lionelsoni Special this weekend - a 1701 streamlined
car tied to the back of 2-4-2 #1684.
