Just fired up the snow-blower and cleaned the driveway and sidewalks.   I would rather blow snow that mow grass.

Please describe the above high lighted word.  Does it require pushing?  BTW: I love to mow grass.  All I do when mowing grass is ride around on a John Deere mower in short sleeves with a can of Coke Zero in my hand.  Is the snow blowing anything like that?  Strange, all those Ohizoians moving to Roseyville say something about being glad they do not have to do any snow blowing.  Sounds like some drug thing.  Are you sniffing cocaine up your nose?  Maybe blowing it somewhere. ????  OH, I get it.  You sniff this drug up your nose and then blow it back out. HUMMM

Chief....Snow-blowing is sorta like mowing grass, but that Coke Zero stuff is for sissies.  We use Jack Daniels for snow-blowing, snowmobiling and ice fishing.  It improves every winter activity.  Unfortunately it does not help those sick people in Cleveland that sit in the stadium watching the Clowns.

Here is a photo showing us cleaning out our street last year.  Click here.

Evening all!

Prayers go out for all who serve...Another day to remember our soldiers.

Back from Birthday party at friends house...Kids received balloons, and party horns, so they're happy!

Doug:  Having a great time with the maintenance car!

Christmas Lines up, running, and finished...well sort of.  I need to add a push button for the carousel, and get transitions for the tubular UCS, since the Fastrack UCS won't work, with the Present Dump Cars as noted in the directions.  DOH.  Found an accessory the kids will love...The North Pole Pylon.  Santa and the reindeer fly around a pylon.  Bride nixed it until next year...I tried twice, so just going out and buying one is not an option.  Bride did inquire about the 'new' Dept 56 Train Station  Whistling  Actually suprised she noticed.

How True Sir James.  With all the bad news on lately, we have to be reminded to take pause for this date in history.

Was a relatively nice day.  Doug, thanks for the thoughts, but I am still battling the crud.  Think this is the strong stuff Doug-notagrump sent our way.  I came home from the Heart Team party last night about 2330hrs.  Was a nice affair, but too long.  Had some good conversations, but I would have preferred to be home with the family.  Then this morning, I had a headache from the strain on my neck.  Was bothering me most of the day.  I was asked to work the light board during church, which is not hard, just have to be on your toes.  We had a good service with a preacher who has a doctorate in psychology.   Was very funny, but also made some great points about how we need to live our lives.

After church and lunch, bride decided she wanted us all to go see the "Nutcracker" at the theater here.  Was a nice production, but when you are not feeling well with a headache, it puts a damper on the ballet thing.  SWMBO was very appreciative of our going, so it was a good thing.  Tonight, we had another good service.  We have a missionary who serves down in some dumps in Brazil.  He is a remarkable man doing a fantastic job with the great commission.  He is African American and has had a lot of offers to take a cushy desk job in the US and make a lot more money, but he has turned all that down to preach and serve the needs of over 5,000 people living in that dump.

Anyway, it is late and I start call again in the morning.  Have a full day of work too.  Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.  Please take a moment to say a prayer for our troops both past and current who have and are fighting for our freedom.

God Bless,

Dennis

Thanks for the reminder guys, 67 years ago - wow!

Had a nice visit with the in-laws and wife's sisters and their families in KC.

It's always really really nice to get back to our own home, though!

Good Evening from cold (18°F) Southern Ohio,

Bride and I just got home from Lancaster, where we had a special Christmas Mass with our Marriage Encounter friends, the party.  It was a lot of fun.  I assisted the priest who is a good friend and started me considering becoming a deacon about 16 years ago.  The homilies were well received.  6 minutes long.  The thought of the folks in the buff helped, thanks Fife.

All those with a nasal congestion crud, bride bought this thing called a Netti Pot.  It is basically a saline solution to flush the sinuses.  IT has really helped the bride.  Cleans out some awful looking stuff.

Hats off to those who serve.

Time to visit Sam Adams

May God bless

Jim

Buckeye, sorry but I will take today's 40 degrees which is 15 degrees below normal for us.  You can keep your JD [not John Deere] and the snow blowing.  Off to bed.  Cold tonight but wrming tomorrow.  Then big soaking RAIN Tues night and Wed.

Good night.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite. [Yanks, you had better add an extra blanket]

Busy weekend!  Sounds like Jim had a busy weekend.  I know with all the presentations I've done, the "buff" idea didn't work for me.  Too many seniors in the group.  So when I look out at the audiance I look just above their heads.  They think I'm looking directly at them, but I'm not.  And I'm able to avoid direct eye contact, which is always distracting.

Had a very successful weekend, had some plumbing to do, replacing an anti-siphon valve, and it went down very easy.  No broken pipes underground, had all the parts here, (no trip to Lowes), only took about 20 minutes, and NO leaks.  What a surprise.

Then helping wife put lights on tree.  Ran short 3 strands of lights, was able to reserect 2 strands that were previously canabolized.  They not work great!  She also had a illuminated start that dates bake to 1984, and didn't work.  Was able to rewire the whole thing and got it working as well.

May get more rain tomorrow, looking forward to get busy on some pictures of Fifey's car.  Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.

 Best Regards

Regarding the Crud, It sure takes a long time to shake!!!  I know, I'm about 9 weeks into round 3.  At least it is now just an occassional cough, and junk.  At least the energy level has recovered.

Morning All!

Sturgeon-Phish:  Great news about serving with your mentor.  Bride's granfather was a pastor, in a farm town, and his Bride made sure he stayed on schedule, because "everyone had a Sunday roast in the oven, and it will burn if you go long."  LOL!

Good morning all,

It is cold and cloudy in SE Indiana.  Made it to work before snow and freezing rain hit the roads.  Should be warm enough when I head home for roads to be just wet.  Worked the last two days at the museum.  Trains and display are all ready to go.  Just need to add some streets to the standard gauge layout, and some display information.  Hopefully will not take too long tonight.  Watched "Housewives" last night.  It was hilarious.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast the last two days in a row.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning - had today scheduled off to relax after driving all day yesterday and then getting all the usual laundry and stuff done so kids could go to school and etc.  Ice on the roads this morning!  It's up to 35 already though, so it should all be gone soon.  I need to get something to add weight to the back of the truck and SJ recommended bags of topsoil - sounds good to me, better than sand that ends up piled under the deck when the bags wear out from UV and weather.  Might have time to run my trains a little today, too!

Morning all. A balmy 23 in Chicago. 'A Christmas Carol' was a great play last night - and from the Opera House on the Square with the snow, cobblestones, trees and lights, it looked like one of those Thomas Kinkaide scenes.  There's even a classic hobby shope - CTT advertiser - with a huge Lionel display in its window. Watched a bit of the Bears game - love to see them play when its 3 degrees out.

Our local all-news station broke in with their recorded bulletin at 11:48 am yesterday with a flash of a reported attack on the naval base at Pearl Harbor. Someone had a sense of history.

Ripped up a huge bunch of track on Friday night - I seem to do this every December ;)  --  musing on expanding Fortner yard and shifting Baker Field...

Hey,

up to 61 today, I'm at work, and boy oh boy I got it now.   Felt Ok Saturday then Sunday got progressivley worse.

Went to the HOG meeting Saturday, put up the Christmas stuff on the house, scoped out a tree and then after church Sunday, it was still there and grabbed it.  Got the lights and angel on it, then the decorations.  When that's done, time for TRAINS!!!

Spent most of Sunday between tree/wife/lights.  Wife has it also, but she had it first.  Was up late couldn't sleep, saw Holiday Affair (the remake - not so good) and Christmas Eve (George Raft & Randolph Scott - with trains!!).  Got about 5 hours rest.

Jim Phish-Recieved your package Saturday and working on getting good scenic locations for pictures.  Christmas must come first, however!!

Stay well, see ya later!

Evenin' boys.  Evenin' English.  Back on daywork.  Went to Greenberg show yesterday and picked up some gifts for my novice train friends, as well as a 50' Dbl Door B&O Auto Parts car (Lionel circa 93).  Also scooped up a painted porcelain brick wall set that fits the bill for the area around my Western Maryland station.

Spent rest of day reclinerizing and enjoying the RAVENS win.

Big day here, with lots of cases.  I think Kevin left the door open as it got down to the 20s around here.  Not much going on, but bride told me to get my backside on the layout...she wants progress!  Why yes dear, just as soon as I finish the rest of the honey dos...but I think this is getting to the top of the list.

Hope y'all have a good one.

Mike Singletary is the real deal. Before becoming a coach, he went to our church. We'd sit in the same row as our kids were friends. When any of the kids would fuss or whisper together, all he'd have to do was lean over from the end where he sat and look down the row and all the kids would immediately sit up straight - eyes front - mine included. LOL.

I keep getting caught in the Pres-elect's motorcades - it guess it's my fault for cutting across the Federal Plaza. When they're close, the fed police stops everyone where they are - and the long line of SUVs whisks by. I like the ones interspersed in the convoy with no windows in the 5 degree cold full of guys with long-barrelled somethings.

Brutus, I left the keys in the Tardis. Beacon is on. Mind the sleet and ice.

Yeah,  I heard good things about Mr. Singetary.  Too few professionals like him.  A real stand up kinda guy.

Well, looks like I won a few items off CHOOCHOO.  I got the Disneyland 35th anniversary engine as well as a Lionel Christmas boxcar with music.   Hey, how mad can she get?Black EyeDead

I had better go as it is time for bed with the kids.  Reading and mayhem and then lights out.

I'm tired too.  Was up at my son's school tonight, his advanced class (Reach) had an architecture project.  They graded them and his team won - yay!  Everyone got a ribbon and a certificate, but his team's ribbon was for "Excellence".  He is very proud, needless to say.  Approve

Went to the funeral home this evening.  Our neighbors mother passed away this weekend.  His father passed away just eight weeks ago.   Needless to say, their time on earth was well spent with many charities made better.

We have a yappy dog in the neighborhood.  New neighbors move in and act like idiots.

Ran trains tonight.  Most everything ran good.  For some reason, the uncoupling track uncouples my Williams Amtrak engine.  I am thinking the weight of the engine somehow engages the magnet.  Wes, we need to have another switch talk.

Doug.....I always thought Mike Singletary was the smartest player that ever wore a Bears uniform.

The idiots are at it again.

Some one tell them, cows are vegetarian, hence they fart a lot.

As we always eat lots of sprouts with our Xmas din-din, the dining room window has to be left open.

So much for theory.
