Don....If needed, you can share my cave with me, since you are responsible for me being on the run.  Black Eye

It is Sunday and I hope the Chief is going to church.  The Southern parson is talking about forgiveness and I hope some of it sticks to the Chief, if not I'm in the cave for another week or more.

Now it is again that time of the year in Buckeyeland, where it gets more than a little nutty, it gets insane.  This is:

BEAT OHIO STATE UNIV. WEEK!!!

Don confessed his sins early on.  Asked for forgivness.  You ran like Osama and hid in caves.  Maybe we need to have a "sit down" as Tony would say.  Meet me at my place.  I will tell my guys not to lay a fingure on you. Whistling

Sunny and cooler.  Off to Sunday School.  Chat later.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Cloudy and 46 here in the Mid-Atlantic region...no complaints on that front.  Spent a harrowing night at our TRAUMA center for one of my older children.  Too personal to discuss, but I certainly feel the need to read JOB.  Big man was with him (and me) last night.  'Nuf said.

dbaker - Outstanding update.  Best wishes to our members out that way, as well as to those suffering loss.

rt - Great pic. Laugh  Is that the chicken transport?

Chief - Lemme get this straight...you mean to tell me our president-elect is hiding in a cave somewhere in central Snohizo...? Dunce

 Morning to All,

Yesterday was rainy and nasty.  In the AM I reassembled the Pre-War cars that I had repainted  I am taking them to work for display, The Mrs. and I were going to head down to Frederick MD because I wanted to hit a couple of hobby shops. As we got further down the road from Gettysburg the rain picked up.  We stopped for lunch and while we were in the restaurant, the skies opened up, so we turned around and headed home.  We wound up going to local shopping center to a new store and then hit Wally Mart.  Came back home and snoozed until dinner.

After dinner I ran trains for about an hour.  I have had numerous derailments while running my Williams GP9.  It seems that the couplers on the GP9 are not very flexible and causing cars to derail.  Because the layout is so small I have very tight curves (O31).  I am still thinking about ripping up the current layout and replacing with Fastrack.  The old O31 switches and tubular track are just not reliable.  I may fire up the layout planning software and try to develop a new plan.  I am getting anxious to change the layout after I visited a friends layout who has just loops of track with many dfferent gauges (O, S and HO).

Glad to hear that Don Baker has dodged the fires.  What a tragedy with all of the homes destroyed.

Have a great day,

Mitch

HI GYZ,

Very windy and colder here.  Yesterday, was 70 and rainy off and on all day.  Went PHEASANT HUNTING with BRO and saw 3 birds all running on the ground.  We don't shoot the runners, just when they are flying.  With all the rain they wouldn't take flight so we just got wet.  After hunting went spotting deer and saw 5 monster buck.  All 8 pointers or better.  Great day afield!!!  Topped off with a nice fire with burgers and dogs.

Big news for me train wise is that MIKE called me on Thursday and told me that BARRY had purchased a widows collection and had for me the LIONEL HOBBY Shop from 1999-2000, unopened,  gave it to me for 300 bucks.  Really is a great piece.

BUCKEYE, seems like a win is on tap for you this week.  I saw the HBO special on OHIO STATE vs MICHIGAN, real good stuff especially DA JOKES at the end.

OHIOIANs Hope YUZ GYZ have your snow blowers working?  I saw on the weather channel east of CLEVELAND big snows til Tuesday.  Be careful.

mitchie - Lemme get this straight...you actually have time to nap and design a new layout...?  Gotta admit, it's always been a secret passion of mine to design a multi-scale layout.  Was your friend's pike sceniced, and was he able to create enough perceptive distance to keep things from looking odd?

Oh, forgot to mention this, for some of YUZ GUYZ wanting to get something up-and-running quick for Christmas, Walgreen's has a line of lighted houses under the Victoria Falls banner.  This past week they had them on sale 2/$12...

Good morning from sunny, central North Carolina!  Temp is about 48 degrees right now.

Saw the link to the freeware software for track planning with Atlas track.  Thanks!

Does anyone know of something similar with Lionel O, O27, and Fastrack?   RR-Track seems really neat, but the $80 starting price is WAY too much.

Good Morning

I don't like winter here anymore but, I don't think I would like fire and wind or the ground shaking under me either. Hawaii thats the place for me. Been there twice, loved it, lots of $$$ to live there though. Small train show today but I don't get excited about this one. A report tonite. Have a pleasent Sunday...TTFN....S.J.

Jeffpo - for about $20 (I think) you can get a template for O gauge track.  Grab some grid paper and a pencil and there you go - super cheap and it works, but I always ended up doing a lot of erasing.  I used this for HO with an HO template, but they also do O gauge ones....

Oops - sorry, didn't mean to hit post!  Fife, prayers for the family!  Don - hope you are still safe today, those fires didn't look good from the air last night did they?  Laz - sounds like some good fun with your bro!  MItch - I have that problem with docksiders on O27 track - the coupler would derail lighter cars on the curves.

Hey Gang, a quick run by, need my coffee and get Christmas started....

Don: Stay safe out there.  I know the NHRA has it's World Finals at Pomona, was watching it on ESPN late last night.

Fife - Angel Got 'cher back, buddy!  Hope it gets better ASAP!

Got my Pennsy Vista and Baggage car from the LTS last night and hooked it up to the PENNA FLYER!! Neat stuff.  Makes the bargain basement set look top notch!

One of our customers passed last week, ret. USMC.  wife left all the train stuff for an estimate and resell.  I understand she dosen't have enought to bury him, so I may jump in and "overpay" for some of the items.  It sucks when our Vets cant even get burial cash.  I have some from the FD, but it's only $8K....

Saw the Christmas tree lighting at the outdoor mall and had Maggianos after.  Windy and cold last night 50's.

Talk at you later

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is cold outside 34 degrees. A few snow flurries. Only going up to 38 today with snow flurries all day.

Today is the last Nascar race of the season. I will go with #48.

I'm thinking about trying the stairs to the train room today. Legs feel pretty good. I have to keep them exercised.

I will not be decorating the outside trees this year. They have grown too big, and I would need many more strings of lights. I noticed last year that they looked underlite. I will miss the look at night.

Dining car was here and breakfast was Cheerios.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Mornin' All.

Still down with this "you know what" crud, if I were to call it what I really want to I'd be banned inperpituity from the forum. Sigh

Fifey, Hang in there dude, all this shall pass. Thumbs Up

Hats off to the firefighters up the road aways, setting up a perimeter around a hospital that couldn't be fully evacuated. Saved the hospital even though outer buildings on the grounds burned. Thumbs UpThumbs Up We have been EXTREMELY fortunate down this way, haven't had the horendous winds like north of here, just hot and dry as a popcorn fart.

Haven't been to the museum since halloween, having withdrawl symptoms. Although the grandson and I did have a ball running a bunch of handcars, on track p/u and the Hogwarts.

Howdy All

Snow, we got snow, enough to cover the ground. Pavement stayed clear being warm enough to melt but going below freezing tonite.

I'm sorry to say that the train show was the worst I ever went to. Been going to this one for years but half the tables were toys and things you would see at a flea market. I'm thinking he could not get train guys to rent the tables. I will go back as it's were we meet our Williams seller and we likehim. My friend bought a Bach/Wms. blue Wabash Trainmaster that I have here but did not run yet. A novel idea they all should use, A pictured parts list is included.

Well  another Lions lose makes them 0 for 10 worst NFL team I have ever seen.

Evening all. Cold here with flurries. Prayers for Fife and older child, folks affected by the fires out west. Worked  video at church from six to 1 after not-a-lot of sleep last night.  Probably going to bed early instead of running trains. Surprisingly, the local high school knocked off the reigning champs on Sat in OT. Their playoff march continues. Got a chance to relax, read the Sunday paper today and watch some terribly-played Bears football... hmmm, should probably buy some new snow shovels this season... That'll be an excuse to go to Menards and look at their C&NW trainset. Looks like a nice weekend was had for those of us who were not cave-dwelling. Laz, the Lionel Hobby Shop is a great find - congrats!  The Cowboys game looks decent.

Sir James.....I can't wait for the Bengals to play the Lions. ZzzZzzZzzZzzZzz

The train show in Columbus was good, but the attendance was down on a day Ohio State played football against Illinois.  People don't even get married on game days in Columbus because no one will come to your wedding.   I did buy a TTUX SP car.  The price was less than I have paid previously and it was brand new.

Snow.....Reminds me that I need to fire up the snowblower and polish the snowshovel.

I just emailed Wes and Chuck to tell them about Extreme Trains on Tuesday nights on the History Channel.  The host is very amateuristic, but last week they had great video going over the mountains and around Horseshoe Curve plus the repair shops at Altoona, PA.

Get to travel this week.

I see Buckeye has come out of the "closet". Whistling

Well, one closet is gone at lake house.  Took it out.  Guess that is why Buckeye is out in the open now. Laugh  Ready for me to haul the tub/shower, vanity/sink and toilet to the house and plumber install.  Never seen os many 2X4 studs for one small closet.  Sawed the nails into with sawsall.  That makes it easy to remove 2X4's without splitting them.  Then painted a old bed frame and now it looks new.  Meetings this week [County Commissioners, then Golden Corral, then go to Mended Hearts.  Have not been to that in a year as normally have Mayors Assoc.  Then Tuesday meet with a lawyer about his client and Town.  Wednesday, Regional Transportation meeting and Church dinner right afterward].

Popcorn time.  Later

I hadn't read the Forum since yesterday morning and have to agree that what's happening out in California with the fires is horrifying.  Makes me feel lucky that the only thing I have to worry about is a little cold, rain, and snow.

Fife......prayers for your son.

Don....thanks for the exceptional update on the California fires.  Too bad the media doesn't use more maps like you did so people can see what these knuckleheads are talking about.  I was stunned at how many have been impacted on this round of fires.  I used to travel to Irvine on business 5 times a year, would rent a car, and would spend the weekend driving around.  Orange County was so undeveloped back in the mid 70s compared to now.  If you headed East, it was surprising to me how quickly things changed.  Back in those days a drive up 1 to Santa Barbara was a snap.

Chuck......re giving up on the Christmas lights on the outdoor trees, I decided last year was the last decorating the pine trees in my front yard.  It has became downright dangerous using ladders and poles to place the lights higher up on the pines.  Then when you got everything working properly, you'd lose strings of lights near the top.  This year the emphasis will be around the front door and window treatments.

Mitch......are you anywhere near Charlevoix?

Laz.....when you build these outdoor fires, what do you burn?

Has everyone stocked up on firewood for the winter?  We have had fewer and fewer fires in the winter because of the cost of heating fuel.  I was reading a magazine that gave tips for using a fireplace without losing all of the house heat up the chimney.  A buddy of mine went out to buy those pellets for his pellet stove and his supplier was out of them!  A lot more people up this way are using the stoves to supplement the heating plant, especially in lesser used finished basements.

Morning guys.  Just waiting for my patient to get to the OR room.  Will be a little while as anesthesia has to put lines in and then we can work.  Was a OK weekend in that we had a great time at church.  I was called into service to work the light board as the guy who was on the schedule was not able to make it.  Saturday night, we took our neighbors (the ones who sold the RR) out for dinner.  They are moving back to Chicago area.  We will have to visit them soon.

Laz, I have not seen your post yet, but read where you picked up one of the Lionel Hobby Shops.  Congrats, that is a great item that I hope to one day get on the layout.  Let us know how you like it.

Fife, prayers for you and the son (and rest of family) for healing and comfort.  Regardless of the issue, hurts when it is our kids.   Would rather go through it ourselves then to see them suffer.  Peace my brother.

Looking forward to checking out SPF.  Was not on this weekend as family is now on the mend.  Son was throwing up Sat. night, wife and daughter were complaining of stomach aches, etc.  I hope I have escaped it.

Have a blessed week ahead.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and cold and Snowing in SE Indiana this morning with temps maybe getting to the 40s today.  This was the first James Bond flick I have ever watched at the theater.  It had lots of action, but not much plot, but I guess that is true of most of those films.  Sunday I worked on getting some HO stuff of my dad's ready to run.  I cleaned off all the Plasticville buildings and laid out a temporary track plan to see how the buildings would fit.  I have to get some new track, lay down some cork roadbed, and put in a couple of roads, and it will be ready to go.  Watched "Desperate Housewives".  It was good.  I had pancakes and sausage yesterday on the dining car and bacon and bisucits today (the "saucy wench" has been busy).  Prayers going to out Fifedog and son and to the people in Don B.'s area.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
