Leaves!!!!  Driveway covered.  Everything covered.  Pecan trees just dropping.  Never have I let them accumilate this much.  Now raining so they will have to wait.  Blow them with leaf blower out into the yard, suck them up with JD and bagger unit and dump on garden.

Good night.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.  Buckeye, better get farther back up in that cave.  I think I hear a jet engine.

Good morning guys.  Big day today with lots of work to do.  Will try to check in later.  I was given a little present last night.  Two CO2 fire extinguishers from the late 1950s.  May try to make a lamp out of one.  Had a good conversation with one of my friends last night who owns a train store in NJ.  Trains may suffer soon as folks need to cut back.  I guess it is some of that wealth sharing.

SWMBO is getting the plans together of what my schedule is this weekend......but honey, I'm on call.  Oh well, hope to get some train time in.  Glad to see some new faces joining us.  Welcome.

God Bless and TGIF

Morning!

Chief:  I think leaf blower was sold in the auction  Whistling  I think the Raleigh Mayor won it for $0.23...better get ol' reliable (the rake).

Our 10th wedding anniversary today...and firearm hunting opener!

I'll be hosting the January MC O-Gauge Railers ...Layout controlls dismantled in preparation.  Wiring up the UCS's....needed to go to a 3-button system, and need to drill one additional hole for each, and relocate a few LEDs.  Blocks needed to be rewired to a fxed terminal strip, and then connected to layout.  I lose a few soldered block wires each time I take control panel apart.  Pics when complete.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and mild right now in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s.  Supposed to storm buckets today and then turn posterior freezing later on this weekend.  Not sure when I will do leaves again.  May "leave" them (so to speak) for Lucas to do when he comes home for Thanksgiving break.  Worked on my soccer skills last night at the Y.  Much more enjoyable than just running.  Did some eBaying and Second Life.  Got an e-mail from my Norwegian soccer friend, which always brings a smile to my face.  I had the usual fare on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Mornin', Y'all,

Happy Anniversary Kurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!  10 years.  Your wife sure is a glutton for punishment, think they call it masochism. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Well, the saga of my damaged alloy wheels is moving in the right direction.  Damaged at a major tire distributor sometime during the balancing and installation of 4 new tires and a front end alignment.  The rim specialist that the guilty tire guys use to fix their mistakes was located nearby.

So I took a ride over there and posed "I don't know you guys from a rat's exhaust system, so why would I want to trust my rims with you for repair?"  Owner and one employee gave me a tour of the facility which in addition to the wheel repair segment has a collision center and a full service maintenace and repair shop as well.  Lots of high end cars there, which was somewhat comforting.  Plus, they showed me some "before, during and after" on a bunch of matched rims they were currently working on.

Repair to take place next week.  We will actually make out on the deal because two of our rims were already scraped by a (shopping) wife more interested in that perfect parking spot than paying attention to unforgiving concrete curbs.  Banged Head

The leaves are finally all down, and I got half of the homestead grounds cleaned up.  Front and sides so the wife doesn't gripe about curb appeal, leaving the back for last.  Interrupted by rain that continues into today.  It's in the low 50s today, not much of that warmth left in this year's tank.

Later.

Jack

Good morning from central North Carolina!  Chief says it’s raining and warm.  Well, he got the raining part right, but my southern blood considers anything below 70 degrees to be cold.  :)  It’s in the mid fifties.

Happy Anniversary, Kurt....10 years? Wow, not bad. Congas!

Up to 83 today and steamy/hot/wet/humid...I thought summer was over.  Sunday up to 60!! YEA!!

Leaves?  Don't got them, yet.  Tress still have some foliage and what ever has been left is being blown away by the breeze.  LTS tomorrow, then on to the "town center" (outdoor shopping mall) for the tree lighting, the US Navy SouthEast Band and fireworks!  Always have a great time there, as long as we're not SHOPPING!Banged Head
Sunday, we'll bring the Christmas stuff down and see what develops.  Mrs Devil wants the inside stuff down and need to evaluate the inside and outside lighting.  I'm thinking it's time to go to the LED's for the energy cost.  We'll see.  The outside will cost $140 for the icicle lights ($10X14  9.5ft strands)  and I'll look at the tree lights.  The "BOSS" always has an opinion on the tree lights....Banged Head

Brutus & Chuck - hope you guys are doing better.

Buckeye - If you need some help.....Whistling

Have a great day guys, will check back later.

Morning all. Damp, grey but warmish - low 50s - in Chicago this morning. The temp. hammer should drop this evening, just in time for the weekend.  Was able to tackle the front lawn leaves for a hour yesterday - for the first time instead of raking, because everything was just mashed into a thick wet leaf paste, I just kept running over them with the lawnmower set high. It felt suitably destructive and seemed to work.

Jim SP- thanks for your continued prayers - the boy is doing much better. Things are getting back to 'normal.'
Happy anniversary, Kurt! At least you have your priorities straight. Celebrate, then go shooting.
Hope you're feeling better, Brutus.
Jack, I'm sure glad to have nat. gas heat...

Next Fri., I'll be driving for a quick trip to Ohio to see this university in the middle of the state. Watched the Jets-Pats game last eve. whilst trying to fix Percy's front coupler. The CA glue I used didn't work - I'll have to try something else.

Good Morning All

Kurt congrats on the 10th.

RT no trade I fixed the plumbing, can do but don't like household AC

Sad news at least to me I read in Toledos newspaper web site that the Jeep for our military is now being made in Egypt. Chrysler owns 49 percent. We will not have a factory of anything the way things are going now. Overcast and rain predicted it's 51. Some snow may arrive for Sunday. Have a good Friday S.J.

Did I miss some announcement?  Or do the archived threads and posts only go back to Late July?  I thought Bob Keller said they would all be restored over time.  Seems silly to have to Google just to be directed back the the Forum.

 Good Morning !

So. Cal. getting another "hit" significant fire went through a very exclusive area near Santa Barbara last night.  (Lot of celebrities in the area, Oprha, Michael Douglas, Steven Speilburg, etc.)  Over 100 homes burned to the ground!  This area a "fixer upper" will start at $1m and can go up to $50m.

Anyway the area is Monticeito just south of Santa Barbara.  A customer had called us about 4:30 last night and placed an order.  We were talking about the weather, and he lived in Goleta, which is a neighboring community there.  Was talking about "Sundowners", which occur daily.  The area is very close to the ocean, and nestled in the foothills of the coastal mountain range.  On the inland side of the mountains is the lower end of the San Joaquin Valley, then the "High Desert" further east.  As the sun sets, the winds come rushing from the east toward the west, come over the mountains, and swoop down on this community.  The winds come up about 6:00 pm daily, and can be up to 60 mph.  The area has a large foilage growth, and very small mountain roads.  The foilage even creates a canopy over the roads, and it is practically indefensible.  The seculision doesn't help.  From what I've heard on the new, 12 people injured.  They are showing it on the news and there are some real mansions burning.  WOW !  Really sad!

Then the extra bad news is the weather forecast for the region is hot and dry for the next few days, RED Flag warnings are effective, more fires in the foothills are a certainty!

On a much lighter note !!  FINALLY getting the upper hand on Phase 3 of the Crud !!  Feeling better, everyday.  Good thing, have to work this weekend, Oh Well.

Kurt - Congratulations on the 10 years!!!  By now, you should have learned that it is critical that your wife have a hobby.  What I experienced, First 5 years, tried to work everything off the Honey Do List, just never happened, couldn't do it.  Second 5-7 years, would pick and choose things, but that didn't work, because then would hear, When are you going to do this? that?   Finally realized that if she had a hobby and her time was occupied, then she didn't have as much time to find new items.  (Beadwork, string beads is great, makes Christmas decors, gifts., etc.)

Congratulations to PAM for a distinguished award from the USDA.  Great news !!!!

Need to go to work, have a great day!!!!

Good Evening

I saw reg. gas here from $1.86/$1.93. today. It was not to cold this morning so the leaves got their last chop. Gas is drained and run out of the weed wacker and mower, all done. Any new leaves will spend the winter here. I did that and then took my bride of 49 years out to a early dinner. That pretty much was my day, no trains, just tv. Banilla and root beer is waiting, so Brutus fireup the thingy and let's get started....S.J.

Sounds like a nice night, sir james. My bride of 20 years and I took the youngest over to his school to buy some books for their library. After all this time, still can't believe this neighborhood: school doors wide open, nobody around - I kept thinking everything would've been stolen if this was in certain other places... Speaking of which, I can't believe how tight security is now around Federal Plaza in Chicago - federal police all over the place; trucks parked all around the perimeter of the block - blocking an entire lane on Dearborn, Clark, Jackson and Monroe. Sheesh. Must be looking for Buckeye.  Anyway, after putting the youngest to sleep, we went down the street to a newish bar for a little drink. Now to get ready for small group tomorrow morn and catch up on some reading. Got a new game in the mail to review - on thermonuclear war - nice pleasant opic. Hope to run trains tomorrow.  Good night all.

Hey RT - watch out for that aluminum wiring!  Glad you had a professional work on it, that's the best way to treat that stuff.  Special chemicals are needed, I've read, when making connections with this stuff.

Brutus is right.  Aluminum wiring, I always coat with a special coating [looks like grease] and tighten real tight.  I don't use it except for service entrance cable.

Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.  Buckeye, sleep with one eye open. Whistling

Mmmm.....Don't see anyone around at this time in the morning.  I think I'll make a run for it.  Great!  A train is coming down the tracks.  I'll just hop on and get out of here.  Chief, will never find me now.  Brrrr....It's getting colder and the wind is whipping the snow around.  Looks safe here.

Live from Roger's Corners

It's Saturday Morning!

The Chief buys a ticket and wins the lottery. He goes to Roseyville to claim it and the man verifies his ticket number.

The Chief says, "I want my $40 million."

The man replied, "No, sir. It doesn't work that way. We give you a million today and then you'll get the rest spread out for the next 19 years."

The Chief said, "Oh, no. I want all my money right now! I won it and I want it."

Again, the man explains that he would only get a million that day and the rest during the next 19 years.

The Chief, furious with the man, screams out, "Look, I want my money! If you're not going to give me my $40 million right now, then I want my dollar back!"
