JeffPo - It looks like you already have a "real" layout.  A lot of folks would be rather fond of that.  A lot of "play" value there, get'er up and runnin'!

Ditto that, Jeffpo, looks like a nice layout to me Thumbs Up

Dougsnotagrump - sweet deals!

Back to work today, got some stuff done and "da kidz" are taking their last training module.  Sounds like my first group is going to step up, so they are doing well!  I think at the end of the year, they should be eligible for higher pay etc.  Makes me feel good!

Chuck, glad to hear you are doing better, keep at it man!

Hi Jeffpo! IF trains are running on it, its real!! Let the children play!

Watched Extreme trains last night and had a great time. Ride with a Norfolk Southern cosl haul through western Pa., around Horse Shoe Curve and finally to its destination at a power plant for electrical generating.

Good morning all,

It is rainy but warmer in SE Indiana today.  Went to the YMCA last night.  Did weights, but more importantly practiced juggling the soccer ball.  I have set  a goal (so to speak) of doing that 30 minutes a day.  Maybe it will help with foot skills.  Did some Second Life and some eBay.  Oldest daughter and two of the grandkids are coming down Saturday.  Will have the Alaska set running for them.  For once work was great yesterday.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning from central North Carolina!  A little warmer still this morning (mid fifties), but a little misty here and there.

I appreciate all the encouragement, guys.  In my youth I had a single train and a figure 8 of track, so I’m now living what I use to dream of back then.  But I still want a layout where I can just walk up and start running trains.  Ain’t no way that can happen in the current house.  We’ve been in the market quite a while for another house, but just can’t find one that meets our requirements AND that we can afford.  But we’re still looking.

Back on the train front, here’s the K-line GG-1 that I picked up at the train show last weekend…

Good Morning from wet Southern Ohio

A quiet morning here.  Start nightshift this afternoon.  The grandkids are at their house, bride at work, no projects calling loud enough to work on and no HOMEWORK!  May start a load of laundry.  The bride and I will be in Columbus this weekend presenting a marriage enrichment weekend, so from Friday till Sunday I’ll be off line.

Doug – Those are really at a savings.

JeffPo – Like Fife said, it’s all about the play.  I have two layouts; the kids call it Papa’s layout and the kid’s layout.  They play with both but they actually have more fun with the simple layout.

Jim F – I know what you mean by feeling good when a crew does well you’ve trained.  In a former life I was an operations trainer, and when the folks would pass their boards, I felt as good as they did!

Chief – Do they let you shop for trains while they are shopping?

May God bless

Jim

Good Afternoon Y'all!  HOpe everyone is doing well.  We are fine.  Kids are itching for Christmas....we make a point of telling them the true meaning of the holiday.  With the little ones, it is neat to see the excitement build over the next few weeks.  I just finished a long case and have been told by the nurses that they are having a party and expect me to make my white chocolate, almond, caramel cheescake for the festivities.  Been awhile since I made that one.  Will have to get the supplies.  Have a dinner with one of the manufacturer reps and the rest of the team tonight.  I chose Sushi as the meal....YUM!

Jim, I have heard of marriage seminars using the film we made as part of it.  Not sure how arrangements are made for it, but it is kind of a neat thing.  On the web site, they have a section for people to write in their stories.  A large number have mentioned about putting new effort into their marriages and some have even rescued relationships heading for divorce.  It's all Him!

Well, hope to check in later.  Chief, have a good time in DC.  I have to get up there to visit some friends.  Have one who is a Secret Service Agent on presidential detail.  Think I'll wait till after the next election to visit.

God Bless,

dennis

Chuck, can I come out now?  It is cold and wet here in this dank dark cave.  I'll try to be real quiet so the Chief doesn't notice me.   Has he stopped throwing things at the walls and using long profanities to descibe me?  If he is just using the word "YANK", I think I'm pretty safe to show my face. Turned out to be a pleasant day - even if I had to go to the dentist. Got rid of some leaves in the front yard before the big freeze coming tomorrow night. Looks like my daughter wants to go to college in Tiffin, Ohio. The only thing I know about Tiffin is it is still a busy junction for I think CSX. We'll drive out for a visit next Sat. Dennis, some couples groups here are using 'parts' of the movie at their meetings.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to everyone.  Is it me or has the number of threads and posts picked up in the past week or two?  I can't keep up.

Temperatures dropped down into the high 20s last night and the temps have been running well below normal.  This does not bode well for the old budget as the furnace has been running far more than I'd like for this time of year.  I read somewhere that the source for heating oil (it is estimated that 40% of the homes in Taxachusetts are heated with oil, I believe) is 70% from the US and the rest from Canada.  In any event, the cost of heating oil here in August was about $4.25 per gallon but has dropped to $3.25 recently.  Figure that saves me about $200 per fill (200 gallon tank) that lasts anywhere from 4-6 weeks.

Wife's company just laid off nearly 20% of the work force.  It won't be a Merry Christmas for many this year.  Wife not in a good mood over it, and there's not much I can say or do to cheer her up.

The "crud" I have seems to be waning.  It must be the therapeutic value of beer that's helping.

Cooltech......was glad to hear your Mom is out of the hospital.  I know this sounds strange, but I wish my in-laws would move in with us before medical issues come raining down on us with no preparation or planning.  They are adamant about staying in their own home; but if something happens, there will be a fire drill and panic.  To make matters worse, they live about 1,000 miles from here.

Fife......I didn't see your name in the obituaries which means you continue to survive drivers' ed with wifey.

Chuck......you sure sound like you are doing a lot better these past 2 weeks.  We would all like you to post a youtube video of yourself jumping rope to get back in shape.  Did you ever make it down to the train room yet?

Jim.....thanks for that pic of a Rock Island.  So few of us seem to have engines with that road name.

Later, gang.

Jack

 Evenin'

Just got back from the Publix(Food Store) Holiday Fest.  They had Apple Cider (warm), Juice, Cranberry drink and wine...(which I shouldn't have had on an empty stomach and I'm a lite weight to bootSmile,Wink, & Grin)  Ham, stuffing of which I enjoyed the apple pecan stuffing.  I may get some for T-Day.  Shrimp crackers and desserts to die for.  Ate so much, not interested in dinner, but making spagehtti for the troops anyway.

Was another slow day at work, got some more cleaning don, and found out I really do have a desk and a tool box with tools!  Imagine that.....Banged Head

Next Wednesday I'll be Thanksgiving Dinner shopping in ernest and, yes I COOK the dinner!  I threw my wife out of the kitchen one year and she asked I thought I was Emeril or something.  My reply was in this house when I cook I AM!!

I may check in later, after the Holiday Fest, I'm cranked up for Christmas.  My wallet isn't, however!

See ya later!

Had a box on the front porch, but it wasn't from Miss Lucy.  Trainz shipped my bobbing head Santa car!  Wife liked it.  Now I need a locomotive for all these Christmas cars I bought Whistling

Good evening, Took the pickup in for service early and dropped it off.  Then came home and sucked up leaves with the leaf vac.  Got 9 bags before the rain hit.  I got maybe half of them.  It rained most of the day, stopped now but to start again tomorrow eveing and rain through Saturday.  Looks like it will be next week before I can get back at the leaves.  They may all be down by then.

Watching the Va. Tech / Miami game, a low scoring game, at the moment it's 10-7 Miami.

No trains today, spent most of my time on the doll house, just about done with the roof shingles, another day will do it.

Evening all from Southern Ohio

I will be working only one night shift as I am taking the next three nights off the present the marriage enrichment weekend with the bride.  We present for the Catholic faith expression of World Wide Marriage Encounter.  One of the other frequent posters presented weekends a while back and I’ll let him tell you more if he is so inclined.

Dennis – Marriage Encounter is endorsing your movie because of the values the movie showed.  My bride and I have presented weekends for about 11 years.  In that time I have seen some real transformations in couple’s relationships.

Buckeye – put your hat on a stick and put it outside the cave before you come out.

DougM – The boy doing good?  He (and the rest of your family) are still in my prayers.

Jack – Fuel was < $2 for gas and < $3 for diesel today!  I may drive the truck again!

As far as fluids, beer can be for medicinal proposes.

May God bless
