Yeah, wife said if they got physical and sent off fingerprints, you are hired, just depends on what pay period you start in?  Sure praying for you to start in good time - hang tight, buddy!

Chief, I dropped off Dennis' cake first and his lovely bride talked me into leaving the other piece for her, so sorry, all that is left is the crumbs!?  I knew you are a gentleman and would understand.  TTFN

Buckeye, when you are finished with the yard visits and all that engineering stuff, you may want to stop by Hershey for some Cocoa Mulch for your yard.  It is great for your plants and really looks good around the trees...Oh wait, you still are dealing with snow, forget it.Whistling [:-^]

I am here again, got called in for another emergency.  Hopefully, I am about done.  They have another patient coming in from out of town.  Told them I would wait for a little while to make sure they are OK.  Then, I am outtta here!

God Bless,
Dennis

PS: Brutus, thanks for the cake.  Wife really liked it too.

Buckeye,

It's probably held at the new Antique Car Club of America Museum which I believe first opened last year.  I hear it's rather impressive.  Normal dinner attire includes black overalls and white shop coat.  The only disappointment is that none of the display cars are up on blocks.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 44 degrees. Going up to 73 today, with sunshine.

Today is a relaxing day. We are taking a drive to Zanesville and having lunch. Need to get out and enjoy the weather. No time for trains.  Got the grass mowed, yesterday. Took down all the Christmas lights on the trees. Rolled up the 800 feet of extension cords. Glad that job is over. Almost time to put out the train lawn decoration.

Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

I don't have my pics from the Enola Yard on Image Shack, but that was rather impressive as well.

Good morning all,

I am not sure what the weather will be in SE Indiana.  They are predicting warm weather and then rain with temps in the 60s or 70s.  Take your pick.  Typical Hoosier weather...unpredictable.

That is interesting about the GG-1 going to the Henry Ford Museum.  I thought I read one time where they had acquired Kughn's Carail layout, but I have checked the site's webpage and never saw anything about it.  HFM has several large engines already.

Buckeye, you say Graham Rahal is your neighbor.  That is pretty cool.  I remember one time when Bobby was still racing for Truesport, the team had an open house at their facility as a fundraiser for charity.  That was pretty neat.

It was too nice to walk inside last night so I did a half hour on the outdoor pathway.  I watched "Deal or No Deal".  For once, somebody quit at the right time because the next number they would have picked would have dropped the offer substantially.  It is so rare to see that.

I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

GOOD MORNING

Sunny and going to the 60s today. As usual, no plans except to study for my stress test tomorrow. I don't like to go unprepared. The Henry Ford Museum is a ideal place for the GG1 they will take care of it. They also have a steam engine train for visitors to ride. Thomas was  there last summer.  everyone stay safe.....S.J.

Morning all from beautiful southern Ohio

Sunny and warming today.  I have a few projects on the slate for today, planting some flowers, initial garden prep, cut grass, finish garage exhaust fan, and I received the reading assignment for the start of classes this weekend.  I may get some train time in too!  Every year when I start working in the yard I think about a garden train.  MMMM, it would look really neat.

Breakfast done and time to get started,

May God bless

Morning all....

Today is the big day, Operations at train club this afternoon and evening.  Will be interesting, hopefully eveyone will not show up. Would be too many people, (20) even for 2 sessions.  Quite a few said they would like to do both.  I've still got quite a bit of preparation I would like to have done, but will just do the best I can.  Hopefully, some of the others will pitch in and take on some tasks.  If not this will be short lived.

Had a presentation last night, about 30-40 people.  Went well was a fun group.  Then over the weekend go an email from a guy in San Luis Obispo, want me to come there for apresentation.  About 200 miles.  Told them that since its a commercial free presentation, and primarily done as a community service, and that trip would not be doable in the same day.  Would need to pass on it.  So what does he do? Offers accomodations at there home.  Now what do I do?  Going to have to politely refuse.  Just too far to drive for a freebe.  If they paid the expenses I would consider it.

Well need to go and figure out what the task assignments will be for the club.  So everyone have a great day.

Later

AMEN to RT's progress...God speed good man.

Doug, I think they all do that.  They know we will get them something early on, so we don't forget at the last minute, but then they tell us what they really want just before the event so we have to run out and get them that too!  Gets them more gifts and then they also get to see what you wanted to get them verses what they had in mind.  While we know they are going to do it, we still have to jump through the hoops and just accept it.

Hope everyone is having a good day.  Currently watching the grandstanding of the fools in Washington.  While I don't agree with his social views, I did like McCain's discussion and knowledge of Iraq...Ok, I am off my box, but I don't like politicals treating our soldiers the way some of these folks do.

You might want to check out the Sam Adams that you have in the fridge, they have a recall out about bad bottles that might have pieces of glass in them.  See this link for details.

dbaker - Are you using some type of car-card list, or are you using switch lists?  If you get too many guys showing up, have a "crew change" at mid point...the idea is to keep everyone interested.

Since I'm staying in Hershey, do they give away free chocolate? I better get something good from this trip.  (Chuck, I'll bring you some back if it is any good, but we know that the Guz from PA can't tell grits from Censored [censored].)

Laz...I had lunch with my fishing buddy who grew up in PA. He was moaning that he wasn't back in PA fishing.  He really misses the PA streams.  I told him you owned a bear.  He thinks he has seen you fishing a few times on PA creeks with the bear.

Buckeye,
There are two museums near Strassburg... the one across the street is the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum, and just down the road is the National Toy Train Museum. I think John volunteers that the RR museum.

You HAVE to do Hershey's Chocolate World...

Hershey's Chocolate, Hershey's Chocolate, Hershey's Chocolate World! (if you've been there I hereby appologize for implanting this jingle in your mind)

It is right by Hershey Park but you don't have to go into the park to get to HCW. They no longer do tours of the plant, that is what HCW is for. And yes you get a free KISS after the tour... the chocolate kind.

Thanks for the info, John - I'll go check both bottles.  If they are okay, I'll hold them for Laz for later tonight!  The BL is past its born on date thingy, so might be a little skunked anyway :(  How did that happen?

Kurt - I can't wait for this tmcc set to show up and see what I've got!

Sir James - good luck with the test tomorrow, I'll be praying for you!

Doug - just be glad you found out in time to get what she wanted, LOL!  Half the time, my wife doesn't figure out what she wanted until after her birthday.

All out of Chocolate Cake, but we have chips, a few beers (don't swirl them too much and you could be fine), rootbeer, and punch too!  I also have some sugar and tea bags, so could make some sweet tea if a certain politician came by for some free food!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Buckeye - there are a handfull of yards from Hershey to Harrisburg, Enola is the big mamma-jamma in the region.  It sits across the Susquehanna from Harrisburg, and the Rockville Bridge sits just west of town.  If you can get a little more info on your itinerary, we could help you a bit more.

In Strasburg, you have the Strasburg Railroad, which is a steam passenger operation.  Very "touristy", but since you came this far, might as well ride it.  Directly across the street is the PRR Railroad Museum.  Beautiful building with very nice restored equipment inside.  One block down the street is the CHOO-CHOO Barn, huge operating layout.  Nice train store too, but pilgrim prices.

Buckeye,

If you visit the Strasburg Railroad, which is a privately owned for profit operation, if at all possible be sure to take the shop tour.  As an engineer you would find that very interesting.  Don Baker and I did that last year.  Well worth the time and cost.

The two museums in Strasburg are the Pennsylvania Railroad Musuem, Owned by the State of PA and one of the best in the country and the Toy Train Musuem owned by the TCA (that is where I volunteer).

There is also the privately owned Cho-Cho barn and train shop and there is another train shop (different ownership) on the railroad property.

If you are there with a group I know you will not have time to do the whole town as it can't be done right in one day.

Fife is right you are probably going to Enola Yard witch was the PRR's biggest yard until they built Conway near Pittsburg.  The yard closest to Hershey would be the old Reading Rutherford Yard that has been converted to a container facility by NS/Tripple Crown, dont' think that would be worth a tour.

Hope they give you enough free time to get together with Laz and I and anyone else that can make it, just don't bring any grits, that tends to upset some of the guys.  Not long after we ate lunch with the chief in Harrisburg, they changed the name of the restaurant and redecorated it.  I think they were afraid the word got out that they served grits.
