Just heard about Mr. Heston - RIP Sad [:(]

Good talk with Sir James this morning!  I was online last night and about to post when we got a call to a card game at our friends' house.  Played Phase 10 until about 12:30 and by the time we got home we all just went to bed.

Orienteering at scout camp yesterday went fine.  A buddy and I teamed up and took our boys.  Dave (buddy) went on the hike while I stayed at the finish line and waited for them to get back.  Apparently people were really upset that their boys got muddy?  I guess they never knew that a month of rain and rain all week up until the day of a hike would make the woods muddy?Shock [:O]  My feet are fine again today, just a little tight in the morning, exercise a little more each day and soon I'll be right as rain!

Mike - I guess Kiera needs to make some more soccer movies for you?  Chief - Waffle House is okay once in a while, but they put some kind of butter flavor junk on the grits that make them taste bad? Well, that ought to bring in a comment or two...

Wife had plans, but apparently they have been changed to sleeping all day in her recliner Laugh [(-D]  I need to make a run to Home Depot later, then some train time!  Sir James reminded me I need to run some trains asap!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Well, I was just talked out of buying a tmcc set on ebay and then got an email that I won it? LOL $69 for the base and controller plus a book etc. NOW I need to find a tmcc locomotive -- I'm sure the bride will understand!

Kurt - this is TOTALLY your fault! LOL

What I really want it Chief, Laz or somebody to explain to me which upgrade board the HWX needs and then go from there!

Guess I will have to find something nice for my wife now, to smooth the deal over!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

No No upgrade you need to spend $429.00 for a new Lionel engine to go with your $69.00 purchase.

Good afternoon,

Chief, I have one the size of a golf ball, but I'm sure your's will pass mine as it will be another month till I can plant outside.  With all the cloudy weather, not getting enough light to grow very fast.

Fife, Sure sounds like you had a full & enjoyable Saturday.

Don, Now that you have upgraded, maybe I will get up enough nerve to try it.  I'll call if I have any problems.  Doubt if I will try it before York though as don't want to be out of business for some visitors.  What was the serial port problem.  I've heard that it doesn't like the USB to serial adapters but works on a motherboard serial port just fine.  Agree?  BTW, did you see the latest MTH newsletter?  It mentions that future O and large scale engines will have PS3 which will be operable with either DCS or DCC, now that sounds interesting.

To all the TCA members out there, the new TCA quarterly (April 08) is one of the best issues I have seen.  Some really nice articles including one on how to integrate Action accessories into a semiscale layout.  Don't think I am stepping on any CTT toes here as they are TCA members also.  Just mention this to point out that there are other reasons to join TCA other than admission to York.  Also the HO layout at the Museum will not be finished for at least the beginning of the season so they decided to use it as a layout in progress demo.  Will be doing work on it while the musuem is open as I have been told.  Neat idea.

The idea came from me!  My layout won't be finished till the beginning of the season too.  What season is anyones guess? Wink [;)]

Afternnon all!

Maybe if I stayed away from train shows and LHS's I'd get some layout work done.  Went to a local show this morning and got a few items I really didn't need but couldn't live without.  Found a nice MPC PC GG1 new in the box.  Dual motors with Magnetraction should make it a good hauler on the temporary tubular  I thought at under 2 bills it was a steal.  Also picked up 2 scale items...a Lionel, NYC bay window caboose and a Weaver NYC mail car.  Some new stuff for the Xmas layout include an operating switch tower, rotary beacon and lighted freight station.  Talked with the guy fixing my SD40 and was told the volume pot wasn't the problem ( I knew that! ) so a new sound board is ordered.  All in all a great day.  Hope yours was just as much fun.

Still cloudy and real chilly.  Fed fish, geese and deer.  Caught big crappie from bank.  Fed birds and now to wind the clocks [once a week, antique big ones].  Ran trains.  Built a new long four engine one.  They sure run good with the speedlimit setting.  Then use the brake to hold the engines, turn up the throttle and listen to them rev and smoke, release some brake and they creep off.  Fun.  Next I will park one train and start making up a new one from different sidings and types of cars.  As Don puts it, "Operations."  Not trains just going in circles.  Hope all have a great week.  God bless.  [isn't it nice not having Buckeye around]

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio

Sunny and in the 70's.  It was hard to come into work.  I would much rather be at home outside, but this is what pays the bills!  This is the last night shift, then I will be off till Friday dayshift.  I have plans for some outside and garage work over the next couple of days.  Counted 43 deer coming into the reservation here at work this evening.  All look good with no signs of winter stress.

Got up early and went to evening Mass before work.  The Bishop was in town for the kid's Confirmation.  Very nice service.

Jim- had to laugh when you wrote of folks getting upset at there kids getting muddy, it is almost like getting dirty now is a bad thing.  There is a lot to be said for sweat and dirt IMHO.

Chief- Nice Crappy!  One of the guys who work for me is heading to Watt's Bar to Crappy fish in the morning.  Hopefully he will bring some in this coming weekend and we'll have a fish fry!Dinner [dinner]

Well, need to check on the guys

God bless

Jim, I know!  I remember my Mom would literally just hose us off in the yard, strip to scivvies in the garage and head to the showers!  I guess Nintendo has spoiled the Moms too!  Laugh [(-D]

Thanks for info Laz!  Okay guys, after a little research, it is clear I will need a TPC so I can run my mth 4-6-0 in command mode and then I want to upgrade at least one of my docksiders as an experiment to see how well I can do it.  Looks like that will cost about $90.  I sent them an email to see what it would take to upgrade the HWX...  I'm not really up on this stuff, but from the MTH one, it looks like you put the electronics in the tender and use a tether.  So, I would really like to have controll of the chuff and a coupler on the tender, plus tmcc.  This looks like it's different from cruise, which is tmcc plus additional control of speed, right?

I might wait for the item to arrive since it included an instruction book on command systems published by CTT!

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Quote from Brutus

Mike - I guess Kiera needs to make some more soccer movies for you?

I heartily agree.  Chief, I am glad to hear some one else likes the movie.

Watched a tape of the F-1 race.  My wife had her hopes as one of "her" people was on the "pole" position, so to speak, but Kubica got snookered at the start by Massa and then Raikkonnen passed him as well.  Still, it has been a long time since some team other than Ferrari or McLaren led the constructor's race.

I see where an American driver running for some one other than Team Red or Team Green won an IRL race.  Graham Rahal did real well today with the win.  Manning was out to lunch again, but AJ IV had a respectable finish, and Danica was 10th.

My wife and I went to see the IU Brass Choir today.  It was a little disappointing as they played all classical pieces, none of which I recognized.  We finished up this round of scholarship applications.  Woo-hoo!  I did get my weight work done at the YMCA.  We had bacon and biscuits on the dining car this morning.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening fellas.

As Fife has already posted, we had a very enjoyable day yesterday and the local weather forecasters were wrong again and we had beautiful weather!

I'm still lacking in the real world knowledge on engines and such, but I'm learning and have a good, patient teacher. Thumbs Up [tup]

After running trains last night and a nice hearty meal Susie-Q drug me out to Lowes and Home Depot to buy paint. Seems she wants to get another coat of paint on one room, and paint some trim. This morning I ventured down to the trainroom where I was greated by some very happy engines all singing their praises at being allowed to stretch their legs yesterday. I had finished my school work for the weekend, so I decided to get started on Susie-Q's kitchen light. It is installed and working, but the walls look like've been hit by mortar fire! Have to get some spackle on them this week so I can get them painted next weekend.

Not much more to report other than my class facilitator is not living up to his end of the bargain. We are 5 weeks into the course and we've only received feedback for 2 weeks and have only received feedback on one of our two assignments. Left an inquiring/displeasure note today, and will be writting a letter to the Office of Dispute Management tomorrow. This guy has a no lateness policy, yet it can take him 1.5 weeks to return our work. This is the worst it has been in the 9 courses I have taken. SoapBox [soapbox]

Jim,

Maybe that's why we have so many sick kids, they ain't eating enuff dirt in the formative years like we did. Ashamed [*^_^*]

If you get a TPC I think you will like how the 4-6-0 performs with it. You have access to most of the PS2 functions but not all. However if you do get one double check the PS2 operations compatability on both the TPC300 and 400. At the museum we have the 400's and they work great with the PS2 so I "assume" the 300 will also, about a $50 price difference between the two on E-Bay.

As to the HWX, I believe the ERR upgrade will fit and one of their sound chips isn't really an English whistle but probably close enuff. I think they have some sound files on their site so you can hear what's available.

Give this site a look:

Tried a new place for dinner, I am so full I feel like a tic. Sleepy [|)] Just wish I could find N.Y. veal parmesan here, it was ok but the veal just ain't as good. Sad [:(]

Wow, lots of posts since I last checked in.  Time for bed, so I will try to catch up on the last few days tomorrow.  Chief, did you eat that fish?  And, if you did, does that make you full of Crappie?Wink [;)]  Just kidding.  Hope everyone is doing well.  I stopped at Sears in Columbus, GA today as I had had an incident awhile back and almost had to arrange a faster meeting for someone to see the good Lord.  Anyway, after reporting the issue to the main corporate Sears, I got a gift certificate for $50.  Went today and cashed it in and bought a small "ShopVac" for the train room, and also a flex shaft for the Dremel tool.  My total cost, $9.00.

I read that Charlton Heston Died today, Sad [:(]  I am saddened by his passing, but I am sure he was saved and is present with the Lord.  I wish we had a large flag pole that I may lower it to half staff.  CH was a patriot, served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and afterward.  Was discharged in 1947.  How many of Hollywood's Elite would put their carrier on hold and go fight for their country as so many of that era did?  Very few these days.  I have the DVD set he did on the Bible, in which he actually goes to the places spoken of in the Bible.  Gives the narration and talks about the significance.

Well, heading to bed.  May you all have a blessed week.

Seems I'm always late to this party!  Anyway, I enjoy hearing about everyone's news.

Got quite a few tasks done today.  Change a wall mount on a TV in Chris' room, weeded flower beds, (due to all that rain), and chop the front yard down again.  (Hopefully soon we will have a lawn there).  And worked on a scale mph calculator for use at our club.

Speaking of which, it should be a fun night on Tuesday.  Just hope they can all follow my plans.  Then the next sessions will be more a result of a group effort than just me.

Not much else to report on here, sad to hear about CH, what a man!  Going to head out to the train room and play for awhile.  Won't get to again until probably Wednesday.  (Another presentation to a computer user group Monday night.)

Take care all, hope you have Great Day tomorrow.

Brutus, I too need a TPC for my layout...probably a few.  I have Legacy and several locos with TMCC.  I do not have any Legacy equipped Locomotives...yet.  The vast majority of my engines are Post War and some modern.  I hope to convert some to command and also to run the Postwar steamers under TPC.  I think two 400s should do it.  I have included two separate loops for running conventional in case I don't want to be constantly working back and forth between command/non-command.

Well, I am tired from this weekend.  Need to rest a while by going to work...just kidding.  Sometimes it does seem that I work less at my job then at home, but I love being a husband and father...greatest job.

Hope all have a blessed week.

Today is a busy day. I have some errands to run and the usual chores around the house. Looks like mowing time is almost here. Ground is still wet from all the rain. More is on the way. Need some train time.  Have to do some cleaning and dusting in the train room.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Dennis:   I'm in the same boat.  How did you decide on the 400?  Is it watts per lin. ft. of track or is it better to just get the best?

Thanks,

Kurt
