Ok, so I feel like being a bit different today.  Buckeye, I would never put down Clowns, one of my uncles is a professional clown...went to school for it and everything.  He never does it for money, just for sick kids in the hospital and for kids with cancer functions.

RT, great news.  One thing about the VA system, even if they start you out low, as long as you don't mess up big time, advancements come on  a regular basis, unlike corporate America, where even if you bust your butt, if the company doesn't do well, you are held back...unless you are upper management, then you get stock options and bonus regardless of performance.

Should be done early here.  Will go check on friend to be seen at MD's.  Then, off to the house as I will be preparing some meals for the weekend guests.  One thing about having been at the FD in my younger years, I learned how to cook.  Anyway, rugs are being cleaned right now and house is pretty much ready to go.  WIth 8-10 kids at the house for the weekend, as well as a number of adults, it will be quite busy.  If I don't get back, I want to wish everyone a blessed weekend.

Morning all.  Suppose to be raining????  Jack, I agree with the deer thing.  We have the highest deer/vehicle accident rate in NC.  Very few places you can hunt in Wake Co.  Why, some anti-gun folks got the County Commissioners to come up with some very strict laws on how close and etc you can hunt to homes.  Should have some archery areas within Town Limits.  Most of the County is now urban.  My 67 acres is about all you have here to hunt.

Got an engine out for delivery.  An older [like new] NS SD80 [scale] I got from a guy on OGR.  Took a long time getting it as his hotmail would not come through on Time Warner RR.  I thought he had backed out as no word from him for a long time.  Suddenly he calls my cell and wants to ship.  OH well.  I live up to the bargin.

Lunch with lady who wants to do movies in the park.  Blow up full screen and big sound.  We did Polar Express back in the late fall.  Big sucess.  She wants to do one a month.

Breakfast time.  GRITS for all.

Hi guys. Old coffee pot post must've got too big and exploded Big Smile [:D]

Here’s my train I take home at 1 p.m. to work on the outdoor layout

Look what I found blooming in my lawn

and in the backyard

I was disappointed when I got home. The other day the temps were in the upper 70s F (unsure what celcius that is, maybe 18C?). Anyway, I had glued ties to my outside concrete arch (for toy trains) with gorilla glue (needs water to make if stick). HOWEVER, that night, temps dipped into 30s (just above freezing).

Well apparently, the glue doesn’t stick well when temps go below 40F so I had to remove the ties and scrape off all the residue.

I’ve used the glue successfully before and it works well when the temps are high enough and when you follow directions to use water and clamps or pressure.
I’ve also had bad experience with Titebond III if applied to wood when temps too low during curing time.

Incidentally, the warm weather has brought out the ticks, as I’m an outdoors person and enjoy taking the hound out to hunt rabbits. Ticks are intelligent creatures and they know where to suck blood on parts of your body that are hard to reach. Had one exactly center on my lower back that took 2 mirrors to see. I’m counting down the 8 or 9 months until the cold weather returns again. Looking forward to next winter. HATE the warmth.

Cheers

BRENT, Hope back is better.  Mine use to bother me lots then I made a inversion machine.  Inversion machine is used to hang upside down.  I made it by getting a old walker machine that neighbor was throwing out welded a frame to it .  Had the walkers welded together and then welded a bar on bottom above the foot pads.  I had a pair of inversion boots that clamp on the shins.  They had hooks on them to slip on under the welded bar.  Lean back let gravity be your friend and flip over.  Hang upside down about two minutes a day feels great.  First time I did it my back snapped crackled and poped.  Hurt like heck then next day, but then felt great from then on.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 38 degrees. Suppose to go up to 50 today, with a chance of rain, later.

Busy day today. Wife is on a business trip, until tonite. She'll be home about 8 pm.  On my own. Need to do some chores around the house. No time for trains. Maybe tomorrow.

Buckeye...Hope you and Spankybird have a nice lunch today.

Well, Dining car was here and left for " points west ". It was self-serve today and I miss the pretty waitress.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Morning all. Nice to see cooltech and David posting. BB sure looks healthy.  I see I just missed the dining car. Nice to see all the birds outside this morning. Supposed to get some Iowa rain later, but the sun sure makes a difference, even though it is still cold. Going to the regular eye doc in a little while - I'm sure my vision is worse so maybe I'll end up with a new pair of glasses. No one could find anything wrong with the van so I guess I'll start tracking its mileage. Holy smokes, the bride's birthday is coming up! I must think on it. Happy Friday eve.

Afternoon all from cloudy Southern Ohio

Picked up ton and a half of topsoil for the new flowerbeds and got them filled and leveled.  Now for some plants!  I start night shift tonight.  Going to wind down and get some rest before going in.  In the old days I’d just stay up but if I do that now it kicks me in head.  Must be getting old.

Thanks all for the suggestions on finding the breakers.  I am sure one of the leads will turn up what I need.  The church wiring is in good shape.  If anything, it is overkill.  The panel in question is a 240-v three-phase box.  The wire is all 12 gauge copper or larger.  I guess in 1962 it was state of the art, but a lot of it is obsolete now.  Mercury filled light switches?  120v control circuit for thermostats?  I’m going to get the ID info from the breaker and see what I can find.  Replacing the panel is an option, because when they wire it up the original electricians left a generous loop in the box on each line.  We’ll see, it is safe now, and that is the most important thing.

Fife- What is in a Monks coffee- sounds interesting?

Chuck – beautiful dining car.

Prayers for all especially for John

May God bless

Jim

Howdy boys!  Kids had a half-day at school and big boss said I could take the afternoon off and leave the trainees to themselves for a few hours?  Good for me!  So, picked up kids and headed to Culvers for luncheon, now home and kids are done with homework and taking showers, playing games, while Chewy and I catch up on the 'pot.  TTYL

Well, just got back from Texas.  Fired on the first day.  Spun the tires hit second and it took off.  Trouble is, I don't know how to lift (off the throttle), so I'm back.  Somethin' about how you gonna pay for that car?

Anyhow, here I be.  Hope all youze giz with the back problems feel better soon.  That's a hateful thing, I know, been there.

Lousy gray weather today, 70's I guess, been too busy to notice.  My little one is on NJ, so it's quiet.  Miss her bad, but she'll back Sunday.  Not much on the train front, work and the chase for Lord Stanley's cup have been making me crazy.  Add Yankees in the mix and I've just been glued to the TV!

Fife, Fire & Ice..nice!!!!

Hello Chuck. Is that lounge car yours?! very nice indeed. (Long story short), Was the invited guest at a minister friends parishoners house. As we drove up the dirt road to the farm, low and behold trains on rails around the property! Yes the real ones!!! I remember one at least he could fire up, (yes a steam loco). In the barn were a couple of tractor style fire engines also operational. That was many yrs. ago but what a great time it was is Spring City Pa.

Well, work was nice, finished early.  Then I came home for the real work.  Cut a couple of acres out front and tried to hurt myself.  Was driving the tractor, just enjoying the ride and I was holding the steering wheel loosely.  I came a little closer to that tree than I expected and the sidewall of the tire just brushed the tree...spun that steering wheel very fast to the left and dislocated my left thumb.  OUCH!  I pulled it back and placed it back in and continued till it was done.  Still hurts like crazy.  Then, I had to make some Ziti for tomorrow's guests.  I cleaned the kitchen so SWMBO doesn't have so much to take care of before the arrival.

John, I looked at that listing.  The guy also at one point says they are MTH, which, by the photo they are not.  Also, one of the questions asked about Smoke in the units.  Mine all smoke.

Dave, good to see you stopped by for a cup of Joe.  Most of my weed growth has been in the back part of the property.  The deer seem to keep the front clear and also take some dogwoods with them.  I also have a guy who comes and puts about $700.00 of weed killer out.

Well, I hope everyone has a blessed night.  John, hope that you are on the mend.

God Bless,

Dennis

Kids have been stalling for about 1/2 hour to keep from going to bed.  Daughter made the A honors list and son moved down to the B honors list because of bad grades in English and PE?  How did that happen?  Too many video games, I think!  We'll soon solve this problem, I'll bet!

Dennis - hope your thumb is better, dude!  That's the kind of thing I usually do.  Also prayers for John's back condition.  Also, hope Kurt and the kids are feeling better soon!

I bought the wife a little gadget on ebay -- it's a little scanner that will read UPC and connects to your computer with a usb cord.  Picked up a database program that was recommended to me from an online site and she is having a ball scanning in all our vhs tapes and dvds.  The program goes out to different websites like Amazon, IMDB, etc.  It downloads a pic of the box cover and data about the movie and the dvd and puts it all in a database, so you can track all your movies.  Another intersting thing, you can check movies in and out, so if you loan out a tape or disc, you can keep track of where it went.  I always have guys coming up to me with a sheepish look on their face saying "here's that dvd you loaned me last year" or something and I forgot all about it!  So this will be really good for me, if I can remember to use the feature.

Laz, from the news I gather that many of our fellow citizens are now UPSIDE DOWN in their HOUSE thanks to the "bubble".  I thought it meant something different than this, though?

On the way over to Sir James' house - luckily I still have all that sand in the back of the truck!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
