The problem with the coffee pot today is Too Many Chiefs and Not Enough Engines!

Git itLaugh [(-D] (n/m - I see others beat me to that joke)

Kurt - no I am not sure I should be hiking.  This was just sprung on me last night and so today I find out that they are doing orienteering.  So, I'll stay at "base camp" and just enjoy the morning outside I guess?  Maybe I can be "home base" and they can come up at the end and show me their flags or whatever is being used?

88 - prayers for your back and congrats on this important anniversary (and on remembering it!), hope you are feeling better soon

May have to call for Col. Crittenden to be airdropped from London.

Achtung!!  If you believe any part of the above story get back to watching Hogan's Heroes on DVD! I have the complete six series on DVD.

Excellent post!  Bow [bow]

Roy, was thinking of you on the weekend, when I found out that they are playing old episodes of robotica on tv - taped a couple to show the kids, who thought it was very cool!

Nothing much going on here today, just the usual at work.  Daughter was checked by school nurse and can go back to school tomorrow, so that's a blessing.  Have to keep checking her hair for a month?  Had some minute steaks and baked "fries" for dinner.  Room for Banilla or maybe some Butter Pecan?  Or, my favorite, Karmel Sutra from Ben and Jerrys.

Howdy

Brutus and the gang we still have banilla, and peach . also have pudding in those little cups that you have to eat three to know you had pudding. I was reading a post somewhere on the forum about adding electronics to a docksider and I have seen them done to Beeps,I just don't understand the logic of putting more money into an engine that sells for less than $100.00. Yes I've seen them work but I don't understand .why bother. Of course there are those that like to tinker..Just passing by with idle thoughts.  S.J.

Oh Chief, are you going to put the money back into my PP account or did the city spend it already?

Sir James, I don't like that pudding, it doesn't taste right.  Now, my Nana would make some good pudding with a gummy skin on top plus covered in whipped cream.  She would also make pies with pudding in homemade pie crusts, including my favorite - butterscotch!  She always added stuff to the regular mix and never told, so I guess I'll go the rest of my life and never have that good tasting pie again - never tastes right now?  If you know any grandma's or moms who have great recipes that the family all love, be sure they write them down and pass them around!

Doug is in class, so I'll hang outside until the students have done pestering him, then we'll head straight to your house okay?  Kurt, meet us there?  I'm bringing some Karmel Sutra, too!

Well, it looks like things are Mostly back to normal around here.  Chief, with all that face recognition you got today, you should run for president!   You'd be  a lot better than the clowns in the current pool of candidates!

I have done all I needed to do today.  Wife and kids are already asleep and I am heading there now.  Will bring dog with me...he sleeps on the floor on my side.  Now all that is left is a bed time prayer and some sleep.  Hope everyone has had a great day.

God Bless,

Dennis

Whew !!!!  What a day its been !!

Spent all day with this crazy itch, you know kinda feels like you got ants crawling on you all the top and ALL OVER!  Took at least 3 showers and 4 changes of clothes, sure is some strange stuff!  I think its finally over.

Been working on bills all day.  No fun, then get to do taxes.  Bad, Bad, Bad week.  If you think of it RT, pick me up an application when you make your next trip, I think I will need one.

Tomorrow night will be going to the train club, and see about introducing the Operations Concept along. that will be interesting !!

Received in the mail today a brand new subscription to TRAINS, took some time and paged through it after dinner.  Sure looks interesting.  Will go through this issues at least 4 or 5 times, to learn it all.  Also received a handbook on Railroad Operations today, sure was quick, just ordered it.  It is by Tony Koester.

Sure was quite here on the forum, no threatening jokes, or train sales, ore even train morphing.  This is certainly one of the "better" sites reccommended .  Well lots lots of reading tody.

Any of you guys (and Gals) thinking of visiting the UK this spring/summer make sure that you avoid landing at Heathrow Airport, it is screwed up, the baggage system is completely disfunctional with tens of thousands of items separated from their owners. BAA have sent about 19000 items to Italy to be sorted (don't ask me why?).Pulling My Hair Out

Whew! Thought I was stuck there for a minute...

Mornin' Fellas.

Well I got started on the last section of the second level last night and ran out of O-45 curves! Banged Head [banghead] I'm now 10 short. So looks like another stop is in order tonight. Took Susieq to her hair appointment last night, then stopped at Lowes and picked up the rest of the lumber I need to finish laying track. Thumbs Up [tup] Then we stopped at the restaurant where we had our first dinner date. Smile [:)]

Jim - The back is getting better, was pain free yesterday and only have minor numbness this morning. I have two more treatments scheduled this weekend and will find out what next week holds when I'm done on Friday. Probably be down to 2 treatments next week and the week after, then 1 treatment per week for a month. Then it should be once per month for maintenance. I started working out, walking on the treadmill and doing stretches and I think that has helped a little too. Need to get the track laid on the layout so I can clean up the main area in the basement so I can start working out down there, then I think I'll be good. Need to drop about 10 lbs of lard and add about 5 lbs of muscle mass. Laugh [(-D]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a partly cloudy 38 degrees. Going up to 50 today with some sunshine. Spring is slow incoming.

Today is a busy day. Wife is leaving for a business trip to Cleveland. She will be back tomorrow night. They are paying for all her expenses. That's a good thing. So, I will be here,  on my own. Have a few things to catch up on. Maybe get some train running time in.

Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s later on.  Chuck, you weren't suppose to show the picture of the dining car!!!  Now everybody will want to eat there and your waitress and my "saucy wench" will start complaining about all the work :-)  So far, only Buckeye has commented.  Maybe no one else will notice.  I did have a little extra on the dining car this morning.  I did some slow track work at the YMCA last night and spent some more time in Second Life.  I have figured one practical use for it.  It would be a good way to communicate with people overseas.  You can instant message and talk to them directly without anybody else listening in.  The other benefit is that I kept Lucas off the computer and he wound up watching a movie with his mom, which he seldom does.  It was a win-win-win for everybody.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning to all

Cold 28 this morning w/brite sun  going to 50. about time. About the same expected all week.

Kurt- I have seen these upgrades and they do work, my point was that the upgrade cost as much as the engine. Dollar wise doesn't make since to me but the hobby is do what YOU like. A 2025 would be a good engine to upgrade.

Looks like Wal-Mart this morning as my wife went shopping with birthday money and came home with a car full of stuff and still had her money. She said she couldn't find anything she wanted for herself.Normally I would not go with her to shop for herself as she doessn't like what I find anyway. But I can get lost at the W. Have a great day all,,,,,,S.J.

Morning all from beautiful Southern Ohio

Sunny and cool but it is to warm up.

John- Prayers for you and your surgeon.

Having the granddaughters yesterday was a lot of fun.  We did get the tree trimmings loaded and hauled off, but the place where I get topsoil could not get to their dirt pile due to being wet.  I'll try again today.

I ran into something at church doing a repair job yesterday and maybe someone can help.  The church was built in 1962 and has the original wiring.  The distribution panels are 1962 vintage General Electric.  A few of the breakers no longer function properly and the local electrical supply store, (not Lowes) does not know where to find replacements.  Any ideas where I could find replacement breakers?  I really would not replace distribution panels because of not being able to replace a breaker.  I've already checked for open spares in other panels.  When I would wire a place I'd always put in open spares, too bad they did not do this.

Thanks if any one has any ideas.  I am going to see if I can get some dirt for the flowerbed in front of the garage addition porch.

May God bless

Jim.............In my opinion, I would try to get ahold of General Electric, with the model number of the breaker box, to see if they can suggest a breaker, and where to get it.  Good luck.

Morning all. Whew, just made it onto the dining car. Sunny today in Chicago but cold. Good class last eve. Have to stay late tonight. Hope to watch some Thomas vids when I get home.

Jim, I could help if it was old Square D stuff. I suggest searching the GE website at http://www.ge.com/ or Google the part #

Brutus, I second the recommendation you rest at base camp whilst the rest hike. Someone's gotta watch the fire. Home-made pudding sounds great.

John, good luck with the surgery.

Dennis, sounds like the dog is a keeper

Don, maybe you've caught the lice that are going around the pot Wink [;)] - You'll enjoy the Koester book - gave me ideas to work from.

John Baker - Terminal 5 at Heathrow sounds like the opening of a United terminal at Denver's airport from a few years back - they couldn't get the automated baggage sys to work there either and ended up ripping it out.

Good Morning All...

I don't have the lice or anything like that is was just itchy, when my avatar came back it disappeared.

John - Good luck and prayers during your hospital visit, will be looking forward to see you back.

Jim - I would suggest sending John Fullerton a email, Im sure you could find it from one of his previous posts.  I'm sure he would know, he owns an commercial electrical contracting company.

Have noticed a lot of new avatars, that's great!!  They kinda dress up the place.

Suppose to have rain this evening, that will have a impact on attendance at our Train Club, even though tonight IS meeting night.  Not sure it makes sense to attend.

Got to get ready for work, have a great day.

Jim:  Try calling some local commercial electricians.  These guys usually keep the old stuff they tear out, just in case.  I bought some ITE push-matics from my electrical inspector when I did some remodelling.

The last resort would be trying the electrical inspector.  He may have some or know who may, but, once inside, he may want you to make some changes.

Jim,
Back when I was remodeling my old house I had the inspector come in and check the wiring. My house was built in 1927 so the wiring was not original, had been installed in the 40's and only had two wires. He said I was fine because of the house's age, but if there was an electrical problem and the house caught fire, insurance may not cover it. He recommended pulling new wire. I hired an electrician friend of mine who would let me help to reduce costs, and he only charged me his cost for the supplies, so I save a ton.

What I'm getting at is a couple things. 1 if your church only has two wires (no ground) you really should pull new cable. 2 if your church has aluminum wiring you should pull new wire as aluminum wire is not to code in most places. 3 the age of the panel may tell you something. it is over 40 years old and just because you can get your hands on breakers now, does not mean you will in the future. Installing a new panel is not hard if you tag the cables with the circuit number, have an electrician disconnect the main from the source, then install the new panel. Depending on the number of circuits it may only take a couple hours. Not sure, but the electric company may come out and disconnect the source for free if you tell them what you are having done. IMHO, the expense and time to install a new panel is well worth the piece of mind that you are up to modern code.
